Which web browser is best for an Archos 101?
That depends on what you personally like.
IMO dolphin is a nice browser for the 101.
Maurice
Yeah i am running dolphin hd i hate that one on my sgs but i love it on my 101....
Thanks guys. I think I'll give dolphin a go then, but you explain the difference between Dolphin and Dolphin HD?
What is the one that comes with the Archos 101? Is it Archos's own?
I started out with the default browser on my Archos 70 IT 250GB, but there aren't very many features.
I've been using Dolphin browser (don't know which version). Great browser with lots of cool features!
I've just noticed that firefox 4 is available in Beta for download.
http://www.mozilla.com/en-GB/m/beta
It doesnt say anything about supporting the Archos device, but it might work. Any tested it?

Yeah not really working super slow and freezed my 101
Ive been using miren browser for a while now on my archos 101.
Makes great use of the big screen. By far the fastest and best featured Ive used.

Yep, I'll give Miren a try. Is it on here to download or should I just go to Android Market?
It's on the market, fairly easy to find.

cool. thnx
I use the default browser atm..
I'll try Dolphin on my archos 28, many people here use it, it must be better than the defaut browser !
OK, so Ive now tried a whole bunch of browser and IMHO the Dolphin HD seems to perform best and is most intuitive to use. Tab browsing works great and the left and right nudge to open settings and bookmarks is great. Works fine wit the DroidX flash (not great, but OK).
I use mini dolphin.. imo is the best lite weight browser.. dolphin hd is also good, but may be a little slower.
I use the stock browser, which is the fastest of all, I think. And scrolling is the smoothest, too.
Hello,
I have an little problem...
My Archos 70 Internet Tablet is sloooow...
When i got the Archos it was running Android 2.1
that was pretty good, fast and smoothly but when the new update came out
i updated it (Duuh)
And from that moment it was slooow...
how to fix that ???
It's not really that slow but it's annoying !!
Soo...
Can some1 help me out please ??
Thanx alot
I find Dolphin HD to be the best balance. Now, I'm running UrukDroid 0.5 so the performance may due to some of the tweaks in that root package, but it's quick and has all those features.

Hi all ,
I've noticed lately in the last week theres been a rush of updates on web browsers. Heres my short notes on them
Fennec :- Latest version isn't that bad compared to last release. Its quite stable now. Also it finally has auto updates so it will always be updated. At 11megs its quite large. http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/m/alpha <--- Use your phones web browser
UC Web 7.2.2.5something :- Lets just say I'm very biased with this browser, It was my default on my winmo phone. Its fast, Got a crap load of options , the best one being night mode (I use it to save power as background is dark). The only bad thing is that its a Proxy based browser like Opera Mini so I would advise you not to use it for anything sensitive like banking. Other then that its hell fast.
Use your internal browser on phone and goto http://wap.ucweb.com
Skyfire 2.x : Not bad but I don't use flash or multimedia on my phone so I rarely ever use this. But it does look like its improved since I last used it 6 months ago on Winmo. Www.Skyfire.com or MARKET
Xscope 6.06 : This is my current default browser as Its small, fast and not a proxy browser. Best option for me in it is "LOAD NEW PAGES IN BACKGROUND" . Theres not much to say other then I love it. Get it from MARKET
Fennec is VERY laggy..

I'd recommend Dolphin HD. Not the quickest browser, but the most convinient to use. Easy gestures, great HD interface, background loading, addons, easy zoom, everything! Tried a bunch of other browsers, but I stick to that one.
you forgot to list opera mini and dolphine HD
my top choice goes to SkyFire,
2nd place opera mini
999999999999 place for Dolphin HD is the slowest browser available in the market right now
No i didn't They havn't been updated in the last week. Dolphin HD was updated yes but I've never been a fan of it. Opera Mini is ok but for some reason I hate it. I use Opera Desktop and want a decent Opera like on Winmo (opera 6.x?) not a proxy based P.O.S that was ment for nokia phones

I don't know why you say this, I have absulutely no problems with the speed. You might tried an older version? If it's indeed the slowest, it shouldn't be more than a few seconds behind. I'm using it every day. Let's say fudzilla.com loaded up in 10 sec. (just checked now)
The renamed Fennec (Firefox Now) is pretty nice and fast. Definatly something to keep out for

So far I've tried Opera Mini, Stock and xScope. I've liked xScope most of them all. I notice a lot of people here recommending SkyFire but not even mentioning xScope. Any particular reasons why?
Sooo..What's wrong with the stock browser? I find it to be good enough for me...
same here. i found that the stock browser works best for me.
Stock browser for the win!

Here I use Opera Mini and really enjoy it.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Today I learnt something nice, Xscope 6.06 saves bookmarks the exact same place as stock browser! so any widget/app that uses stock browser's bookmarks work fine like LauncherPro's new popups! SWEETTTT
UCWEB is very bad
i've tried dolphin hd and xScope, liked them on my nexus but on the galaxy they were not only slow but they also really slowed down the whole system and made it very unstable ....that was before i ran the lagfix.
That may not be the case after the lagfix but atm i am happy enough with the stock browser's limited features to risk sludging up the system again.
Talking of browsers, anyone know of a browser that lets you save the webpage to SD card for offline use?
My Nokia N95 had this as standard, and the iPhone has various 3rd party browsers offering this but so far not found any for android
Stock FTW !!! followed by skyfire...

Looks very nice. Like the sidebars when sliding in a site to the left or right to get the tabs and settings. Zooming in and moving in a site is quite fast but the text isnt rendered very well. Looks it needs a kind of antia-aliasing.

Short link:

Very buggy. Crashes, becomes unresponsive and has to be killed with a task manager.
Not ready for anything except bug finding and crash testing, imho.
Quite slow especially when zooming everything becomes pixelated for ages.

Works slowishly ok on sites with no Flash. Sites with any flash content go gray immediately. Then the browser crashes.
Running on the euro version, rooted 2.1.
It's a bit slow tho. Standart browser is faster.

I've tried a few different browsers Opera, Dolphin HD, Skyfire & this Firefox beta, they all have there pros & cons it's what works for you.
Saying that I'm back on the stock browser running DXJP1 froyo test build & it plays flash sites really well, I can watch tv from catchuptv.com & play videos from other sites & play flash games.
I've just tried.
What a heap of ****e...
Slow as hell, doesn't even load a page. Couldn't quit from the application it was so slow!! Had to close it with task manager for me as well.
My Samsung I9000 Pda Jpk ,,,I was www.DailyMoton.com..But The video is slow and I can't hear nothing ..Any help About That? Thank
it's a praiseworthy attempt! let's hope it'll be as good as it is on the desktops.
I think it lunch for android..

anybody knows when will it be on the market?
Just a shameless plug.
If you (like me) don't want to put up with the bugs in FF4-Android-Beta2
(like not starting with the link that started the browser, taking forever to load,
no double-tap to zoom, forgetting it's sync-settings,..) but LOVE Firefox Sync,
then I recomment to try
FF Sync for DolphinHD.
http://sites.google.com/site/firefoxsyncfordolphinhd/
or:
http://www.androidpit.com/en/androi...hinhd.firefoxsyncplugin/FF-Sync-for-DolphinHD
I'd love some feedback on the new version 1.6 via email or the website.
BTW, you can get the daily builds of Firefox 4 Android at: http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/mobile/nightly/latest-mozilla-central-android-r7/

Firefox has gotten better, and there's a good use case for it if you use Firefox on your main machine because of firefox sync.
Lots of people use Opera and DolphinHD.
I personally use the stock browser, it works just fine for me.

I'd say try each of them and see how you like them. I'm not what you would consider a "heavy" browser user, so stock is fine for me. There's so many features on the other ones that I really wouldn't use that its not worth my time.
Id definitely look at firefox. It might be nice using firefox sync.
I use stock on the phone typically. Dolphin HD on the Nook Color.

I prefer Dolphin because I find that the stock browser is occasionally buggy, and some of the Dolphin add-on's are quite useful.
Yeah, Dolphin is Great!
I use stock for most of time, but when I turn to dolphin, I wont go back... is much faster then stock and les laggy.
I have both Opera's and Firefox. Opera Mini when you're low on Data or just want faster speeds (low data usage since page is rendered on Opera's server), Opera Mobile cos it's easier to clear cache and history than the stock. Just installed Firefox so haven't even launched it yet.
I've tried Dolphin HD and Opera Mini but I keep coming back to the stock browser. It's simple, clean, and doesn't take up any more precious screen space than it needs to. Of course this is my opinion.
I just tried opera mini for the last 15 hours and to be honest stock seems faster for me...and slightly less laggy. I might give dolphin HD a go tonight and that screen cutter add on it has.

Stock is good, but is one issue that I hate... it doesn't have exit button with closing all oppened page, and removing cache etc.
this is why I prefer Dolphin.

On CM7 you can long-press the "back" button to force close the app. If I didn't have this, the stock browser would probably bug me more.
Dolphin HD has been my go-to browser on my A100, but recently it has started hanging, as described in my previous post in this sub-Forum.
Are there any other non-stock web browsers that are as fast and feature-rich as Dolphin HD?

+1. I have used many other browsers from the market and more often find myself reverting back to the stock one. Its simplified and is, for the most part, bug free.
ummmmm............ could you repeat that?
I just use Dolphin HD. It works great. I wish the Dolphin for Tablet worked on the A100. Works on my A500 just fine.

I use Dolphin HD with out a problem.
i will suggest using opera mobile (12+ mb) for the best browser.
The reason why is: support html5 really good, capable woth all the website.
When i used stock browser or dophinHD, i couldnt access to my school website to do assignment or check contents of mu subjects. For opera, the problem were sold.
The diffirent in speed when compare with another browser is almost nothing. And you dont dont need to care about 1 or 2 second diffirent right?
All we need is stable browser which can access in all website.

Thank you all for your ideas.
I have got Dolphin HD working again (see that other thread). It is just so comfortable to use, I can't use the stock browser any more.
I am testing Xscope and Opera browsers, but so far neither floats my boat.

You can't beat the vertical pixel saving, super-convenient Quick Controls in stock browser. They make the stock browser simply amazing--almost as good a browsing experience as a desltop.
Quick controls combined with a good split/thumb keyboard let you keep a steering-wheel style two hand grip on your tablet and perform every single browsing action without moving anything but your thumbs.
I constantly switch between the stock browser and opera mobile. Dolphin HD used to be nice but it acted weird with flash on my a100.
On my phone I use different browsers. (stock MIUI one mainly)
I got my brand-new Acer Iconia Tab A100 yesterday but in fact I had not yet given a chance to the stock browser, but I will... I've installed Opera Mobile, instead, and I loved it! It load pages very fast and is clear and smooth!
Stock broswer ftw. I'm so glad this one has desktop mode. As far as Dolphin HD I read theres a tab version but you cant use Dolphin desktop toggle, and Dolphin history.
Hi, which browser would you suggest me for my hox?
With aosp roms almost every browser is very laggy (the best one i tryed at the moment is opera browser). It's strange because many of them work quite smooth on other phones (for example maxthon is quite slow on my one x, while is very smooth on my friend's s2 or lg optimus 4x)
