[APP & SRC] Samsung Tools (Source Now Included!) UPDATED: 24/01/2011 - Windows Phone 7 Development and Hacking

Hi I have made a small Tool that will prevent device relocking and allow maximum number of sideloaded apps. This may help a few people to make the impossible become possible without hassle.
Requirements:
Dev Unlocked Samsung Phone
XAP Installer
Updated 23/01/2011:
Added: Run ADC option to automatically configure Data and MMS settings on reboot.
Added: Enable the 3G Toggle option in 'mobile network' settings.
Added: Reboot Button to restart your device easily.
Enjoy!
Source now also included!

This is the exact same tool (ChevronWP7&noSideLimit) Thats currently available. I think you have just re-named this tool, and want to take credit for another DEV's work.
Now that's not Cricket.
SO NO THANKS FOR YOU

No I have not, I have used the samsung api and made it wrote to the necessary keys. I take no credit for the methods used only the UI which is simply just 2 checkboxes and a button. I wasnt aware that chevron made an app that RUNS ON DEVICE to remove sideload limit and prevent relocking. I only saw people struggling with registry editors trying to make the changes manually. So before opening your mouth trying to discredit people read through the forums thouroughly. This was intended to make things easier for people that unlocked their device with chevron tool.

I agree he is mistaking this with the chevronWP7 Unlock tool which also has a version to remove the sideload limit. My app doesnt unlock, and it runs on device not desktop pc and has the ability to prevent relocking.

It works great. Thank you for this.

So basically this tool just adds the two registry keys that prevents from relocking right ?
or does it anything more than that ?

Nope, you can remove the app after making the changes. My next version has the ability to reboot the device and a few other things up its sleeve so will be no need to uninstall if you want extra functions.

[XAP] Safely RELOCK your phone (Samsung Only)

This tool is to RELOCK your phone (NOT UNLOCK!!) This tool only works on Samsung devices!
So why would you want to lock your phone?? Well, one reason: to do a legit unlock.
Many of you may have used all kinds of methods to unlock your phone and then applied the "Prevent relock" settings. This also prevents to do any further locking/unlocking. You can't do a legit unlock, even if you wanted. Also, if you relock your phone you may not be able to unlock your phone anymore. You lock yourself out, because your phone can't communicate with the Microsoft servers anymore. You will first need to restore the settings for this communication. If you don't do that, and you lock yourself out, only a hard-reset will safe you.
This tool will completely restore your unlock settings: This will LOCK your phone back to original!
After you relocked your phone you can unlock your phone with a legit AppHub account or with the new Chevron Tool, which was released today. So when you use the relock-tool, be sure you have means to do a legit unlock or else you won't be able to unlock your phone!
After you successfully unlocked your phone again, you can apply Interop Unlock again.
DISCLAIMER
Use this tool at your own risk! You may want to make a backup of your phone first, before you start playing with locking/unlocking! I will not take any responsibility for lock-outs or any other damage caused directly or indirectly by using this tool!

As usual thanks for the .xap !
Am I right that the prevent from relocking hack is one reason why a lot of people have problems with the new Chevron unlocker ?
I think samsung users can deploy your xap without any risk because they can unlock their devices anytime with the diagnosis app... Good to have this xap just for the case.
Anyway I don´t see any reason why I should waste the 9 bucks for the new unlocker... It makes only sense for 2nd gen devices and only if you are able to interop-unlock the device....

That's only if you have put the xml in the provxml folder before! This could be done manually or using the interop-unlock-exploit. If you didn't do that, you do need to have other means (like the new Chevron unlocker).

One reason could be that you have to hard-reset for some reason and you don't want to revert to RTM. Also if you just want to experiment with locking/unlocking. I was in the beta-program for the Chevron tool, so I created this tool for myself to do the tests for Chevron team.

For sure the .xml files have to be in provxml folder before.
I think updating an OMNIA 7 from 7004 to 7720 doesn´t take so much time either.
Yesterday I did it again because I wanted to get the latest T-Mobile Germany firmware: 2424.11.9.4.
The only annoying thing is that atm I need 2 laptops because my main laptop I have updated to SDK 7.1 and the "old" chevron unlocker doesn´t work anymore...

Well, there's another reason for the new Chevron unlocker. Take a close look the Chevron certificate: expiration date = 2011/11/25. That's in a few weeks from now. We could of course create a new cert and insert that in the old chevron tool. That would probably work too.

That´s a valid argument for the new unlocker.
What about setting a wrong date before unlocking (maybe on device and desktop) ?
Edit:
Indeed it will expire soon... hmm
Are you able to edit the .cert ?

Hi Raphael!
LOL I get your point. But I don't think Interop Unlock is possible without modifying the produrl's. If they are not cleared, the Interop Unlock will be undone everytime you sync with Zune.
But I think this is someyhing people should be aware of. So I will add a comment on that in the opening post of the Interop Unlock thread.
Actually, there is not much damage if you used the Interop Unlock. If you relocked your phone after Interop Unlock, you can unlock it again by doing step 8 - 11 again. That's it.
Edit: worst-case-scenario: a hard reset will fix it too.

That would've meant lost Plants vs. Zombies saves which would have caused me to fly there and kick your butt.
I think a workaround would be to use a background agent like screenshot tool to re-apply the unlock count (maybe even have a button to lock the phone in your app.)

3. You're always welcome in the Netherlands. But please don't kick me in the butt. Your foot won't fit. It will hurt. We'll have a couple of beers together.
About the background agent: I doubt that will work. Normally you would need Interop Access to change the settings for Interop Unlock. So, as soon as Interop Unlock is remove during Zune sync, the background agent won't work anymore. I will do a couple of tests to see if there are alternatives.

Reg carrier unlocked phones
Hai,
I am having a carrier unlocked samsung focus. I had done interop developer unlock. If I relock my phone using your method , will it affect my carrier unlock ?
Moreover, Is simply hard resetting the phone will lock the interop unlock?
Carrier unlock has nothing at all to do with any kind of dev- or interop-unlock. It's kind of like asking "If I lock my keys in the car, will I be unable to access my bank account?" - the only connections are that both of them are on the phone, and both have some effect on your ability to do a thing.
Dev- and Interop-unlocks are registry changes (part of the core WinCE OS that underlies WP7). Those will be wiped on a hard reset. SIM-unlock is handled in a completely different part of the phone altogether. If it weren't, you could change the SIM lock by flashing the ROM from another carrier.

cant deploy nothing!

i just cant deploy anything i getting class not registred error , itried to re jailbreak my phone many times i tried many deploys tools nothing worked...
what can i do?
i got the focus s , with window break thank you
Do you've enabled Zune when you deployed apps to your Phone?
Do you have chevron unlock? Do you have interop-unlock?
i have a window break hack , zune is always runing but nothing happend
Do you tried to do something in bootloader mode?
Or maybe you've to restart your WP by Settings>>Info>>Restore (or something like that, because i haven't default english lang)

No you don't, WindowBreak works fine on locked devices. It unlocks the phone, like chevron but in a "different" way so it's interop unlock.
This is the wrong section for this, but to sideload apps you have to either be Chevron (or equivalent) unlocked and certain apps require you to be inter-op unlocked.
Things you can try:
Install the registry editor for your phone and check to make sure you are inter-op unlocked. If you can't sideload this app try sideloading just a simple homebrew app.
If your xap sender gives you an error it would be helpful what error you get.

I know roughly what you are talking about. I know command prompt, although I never used fastboot, as I only owned X10 (until I dropped it and USB port snapped ), so never had to/wanted to unlock bootloader this way. But I want to learn, that's why I am reading all this now, and I need to ask about something I am not sure of.
Just go through the unlock bootloader process and then you will know what fastboot is
After that just type my comamnd with my file in the same directory and you will be done.

If I were you I would wait till I get ICS on the phone then unlock the bootloader and root the phone.
Quick question. It just wonders me. Sony "supports" unlocking bootloader, which is more dangerous than root. Why rooting is not supported then? Is it because we could unistall third party aplications and Sony has some sort of agreements with them and are obligated by law?

No you are getting the idea wrong
Long ago we discussed alot with SonyEricsson and together decided this is the best way of doing it.
The reason is simple:
Rooting alone does not give you access to all partitions etc. pp See X10 Forums for that. Sony is very good in hiding partitions
With a bootloader unlock we get fully workable fastboot. We are able to write all partitions and change what we want. (Root too)
Also Sony(Ericsson) is able to track who unlocks and who not AND is able to provide a check mechanism to forbid unlocking of phones which are not owned by the user (for example provider branded phones in contract, the phone is usually property of the provider).
So this is the reason. Unlocked bootloader gives us nearly full access, so no need to worry I am in this game since X10 times (like you or not ?)and we always got the phones working like we wanted.
Our work for CM9 on XPS has started now too.

See, I was not aware of that "agreement". Now everything seems to make sense. I am android user since I bought X10 back in August 2010. I was more or less following XDA since then as well, but this forum is worldwide community and is almost imposible to keep a track on everything. I would consider myself somewhere between rookie and advanced users. I know how to do certain things (root, how to use ADB, I was changing framwork_res.apk for my own purposes, etc.). My point also is, I am more hardware sort of guy, rather than software. That's why I am glad you guys are here with us.
Will this wipe the phone data or only the system partition ?

Well no. But the first step is that you need to unlock bootloader and THIS WILL wipe your data. To flash the systempartition itself will not wipe userdata.

So you restored with Titanium. Since Titanium is a Root app and you don't had Root before i think you are trying to restore a backup from another phone.
If you do that you have to assure that you ONLY RESTORE APPS and NOT SETTINGS! Settings from another phone will be most likely incompatible.
So this wil be your problem!

-Even smaller in disk size!
-No tutorial needed! Yes, it's that easy -- just read carefully and don't panic
There's still no way to:
-relock the bootloader
-flash FTF files

I've been getting some questions on PM lately, about 'how to unlock my bootloader'...
So, fed up with those infinite PMs, I quickly put this together (30 minutes, not much).
It's not much, and I've only tested it for one minute, but it should help the average noob user get their bootloader unlocked.
(I've only tested this on a x86 Win7 PC, so please help me find out where this works on.)
So, the basic idea is, that the noob user extracts the attached adb and fastboot .zip file and extracts it to disk C: (I'll make options for other drives later on, I just need to know whether or not this works). The user then opens up the program inside BootloaderUnlock (and installs it), and, after many warnings, gets to a screen where he is told to input his Bootloader unlock code (obtained from Sony's website).
The program then warns the user a little more, just to make sure he understands, and then, two lines of text show up.
The user enters those lines of text into the console window (the fastboot.exe he extracted at the beginning) and Viola!
If all steps have been done correctly, he now has an unlocked bootloader
It's a simple, yet fool-proof concept, tested on a complete phone moron (after reading some instructions on Sony's unlock site).
Please help me test this, as this may be really helpful to those that don't understand FlashTool and don't have an idea how to do it via the official method.
Also, if you don't understand, there are some instructions within the program (written in VB, so you may need NET framework... MAY need it...)
Thanks for helping me and all those noobs out
Note: extract the fastboot.rar to C:, so you will have the fastboot.exe in C:\Fastboot\fastboot.exe
Note: Inside the Fastboot.rar, there are fastboot drivers for Xperias. Install then if you dont have them yet.
Note: The BootloaderUnlock.rar is a visual basic program. Please help me test it on different Windows systems (XP, Vista, 7, 8, 2000; all both x86 and x64)

Yeah, it's actually the same as Sony's way, this program just tells the user what to write into the CMD window.
You can't brick your phone with this, because it either suceeds or fails. Either gain or no gain (and no loss) for the user...

i think he was referring to:
IF you are so beginner that you aren't able to even unlock your bootloader
THEN you could be so newbie to brick it
That's possible, if you're pointing to the fact they could brick their phone after unlocking the bootloader.
But before the unlock, no, it wouldn't be possible...
But hey, some people might have trouble with windows and are new to it. (I know many linux users that are forced to use windows for their phones that could use tools like this for their phones (not Sony, but others...)...)
So can this way unlock any bootloader even if it says bootloader locked? Thanks

Nope.
Did you not read the first post?
It's the same as the official method, but simplified...
Nothing's changed, basically, so it can't do more and it can't do less!
Ok thanks just dont understand why they sell ones that can and others you cant unlock oh well

It's because companies like AT&T give locked down phones away for free with a service contract. That way they can lock some services to make you pay more. For example AT&T makes you pay an additional monthly fee for the use of tethering (only when you use the att stock Rom, it's free on generic version )

So I guess it's great in my country;
you don't get a 'free' phone, you pay at least 1€ (depending on the plan you chose; I chose the one where I get to pay 370€ for a nozomi)
You can always trade your phone on Swappa (you have loads of ads on CM's sites and forums) and get an unlockable one...
what is the difference between this tool and this one?

This one, you can't flash things with, and you don't need a ton of downloads...
Yours is actually a program that uses FlashTool... It has flashtool included in the libs, which means:
1. You download the program AND the giant FlashTool
2. It can flash FTF, IMG and SIN files (because this is flashtool after all...)
I came up with my method for people with bad internet and limited storage...
It actually is the official method, but with a "paste-press-copy-paste" procedure, although the main idea is about the same as all the others...
Basically, every method is based on the official way, but there's a bit of variation here and there...

DOWNLOADING
Let the Noob try it !!
Hey Guys,
I am a Noob and have been trying to unlock my bootloader for about a week now, I have tried a few methods without any joy.
I will give this a go and will report back if it works or not.
Your problem might be one of these, if it doesn't work:
1. Your phone is not in fastboot mode -- did you check that?
2. You don't have the right drivers installed on your PC -- or do you?
3. Your phone's bootloader may not be unlockable -- now, if you didn't check that, you really are a noob.
4. Your unlock code is incorrect -- that was the case with me, but in the end that was the only problem...

Hi,
Thanks for the reply, the problem i have is with the drivers. I have tried different solutions as posted here and on the web.
But still could not get the drivers to work??
I will try this method as it states the drivers are included. If it all works awesome, if not then I fail and will forever be stuck with stock rom's.
Which windows are you running (vista, 7, 8, is it 32 or 64 bit?)?
Also, did you try with FlashTool's drivers?

I'm running windows 7 on a 64 bit laptop.
Tried the flashtool drivers also but still no joy, I check in device management for S1 and each time there is a problem installing the drivers.
I still have a PC running vista so might give that a try if all else fails.
Thanks for your help so far, will keep you updated with how I get on

If you retained unlock which you won't... I advise saving your tweaks to your SD card
if u update extra+info app, u loose your interop
(i think ^^)
I advise uninstalling 'Extras & Info" as soon as you can. When I did it I let W10M install, waited for the initial boot to finish then turned off wifi so the store wouldn't auto update anything then I navigated to All Apps>Storage>This Device then uninstall Extras & Info. Now turn wifi back on, go into Store & update, then you may proceed with interop
