I'm looking for a way to remove Revolutionary S-OFF...
I tried flashing several RUUs with different HBOOT versions but Revolutionary HBOOT is very persistant
I'd would love to return to HBOOT 0.93 since I have to return my device due to a possible hardware error.
anyone have a suggestion? tnx

not sure what you mean exactly, but just flashing a stock RUU with NOT remove revolutionary HBOOT. I'll explain in next post.
SOLVED: just got THE answer from someone at #revolutionary
1. what: downgrade HBOOT using AlphaRev
how: go to http://alpharev.nl/, download (and always MD5-) check "bravo_downgrade.img", flash using fastboot
2. what: flash stock RUU
how:go to http://shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=android&model=Bravo and download RUU for your device and run the executable
(I chose "RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_159811_signed.exe " since it turned out to contain HBOOT 0.93 which I wanted)
3. done
Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you !
Puff, i got a good scare after upgrading to GB.
I found out that after upgrading I cannot simply RRU my way back, installed revolutionary then I wanted to bring my Desire to service [reboots] and wanted to get rid of s-off and revolutionary hboot to make it "stock".
Once again, thanks to this great community !
hi.
Hope someone still watching these posts.
I tried your solution.
Flashed the hboot and it switched from Revolutionary to alpharev.
Then i flashed the phone with stock ruu RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_159811_signed.exe
But still no luck.
The methods iv tried is:
All through command in windows, :
adb devices
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot devices
fastboot flash hboot bravo.img <-- i renamed the file i took from the ruu im using.
flash hboot - reboot to android os - stock ruu flash = no stock hboot
flash hboot 4 times - reboot to android os - stock ruu flash = no stock hboot
flashed hboot - still in hboot i ran stock ruu = no stock hboot.
am i missing any step?
My phone/hboot is:
Swedish unlocked HTC Desire.
Bravo pvt4 ship s-off
hboot 6.93.1002
radio 5.11.05.27

Is that right or wrong?
could you give me a step by step?
I have the revolutionary drivers and uninstalled htc sync alredy.
The things iv tried so far is this list of commands in order:
cd c:\desire <--- where i have the files
adb devices
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot devices
fastboot flash hboot bravo.img

how do you flash files in fastboot,if not with adb to my knowledge he was in the fastboot screen(when you adb reboot bootloader thats where it takes you)
we need more detail in step #2. after getting an "ok" flashing the downgrader image in step one,do you reboot to the OS,then run the executable from there? or do you run it while still in fastboot?
ive been helping him on another forum, and from what he describes,it looks like hes followed DXsl's steps, but it still hasnt worked.
thanks for any info
After flashing the downgrader, you cannot boot any rom, because the downgrader deletes all internal partitions. So after flashing the hboot downgrader successfully, just enter this
Code:
fastboot reboot-bootloader
When done, flash ruu. At the end you are on stock rom with stock hboot (s-on).
A little note at the end: If your phone is in fastmode mode, you cannot use adb (commands). If your phone is in hboot mode, you cannot use fastboot (commands). And fastboot can only be used if one is s-off. I know you are in this state, but this information is for the future.

i see what you are getting at now. while you are in fastboot mode, you technically are using fastboot commands, not adb commands. kind of splitting hairs, but correct. when folks are in the CMD window and entering commands to the phone they broadly describe the experience as "using ADB".
while an engineering or patched hboot provides alot more functionality, there are limited commands for s-on in fastboot mode.
thanks for the info
This isn't working. RUU managed to flash HBOOT, Radio, Signature, but after that it gives error 140 and ends.

I think your partition size is somehow smaller than it should be. Did you flash the stock HBOOT after flashing downgrade HBOOT?
PS: also use command "fastboot erase cache" after flashing HBOOT and "fastboot reboot bootloader" too. Just to be sure

Nooo..If after the downgrader u flash the stock one, u are locked s-off again (downgrade protection)
the downgrader is already stock, and because this one has no protection, the ruu overwrite it before to flash the system partition

With custom MTD, we had to format system, cache and data so maybe it would be best practice to do that after flashing the downgrader if you still have recovery (i.e havent tried to run an RUU over CM7 hboot)
yes, u can't flash an ruu over the cm7 hboot, but u can over the downgrader
this damn downgrader is the stock hboot (with stock partitions size)with no protection..all the other hboots on alpharev have the downgrade protection (so an ruu can't overwrite it)
so for example, if u have the cm7 hboot, u dont need to flash the stock hboot and then the downgrader hboot (or viceversa)..only the downgrader is enough..the downgrader is an hboot with stock partition size
in addition, the first thing that the ruu does is to flash the hboot with stock size (only after the ruu flash the system)..but of course, it will successfully write the hboot only if u have the downgrader one

try via fastboot, but I allways get the same error as it wasnt connected.
when I type: fastboot devices I get the device sn but not the $ to keep sending commands so every command I send reports the same error.
try the android flasher, nothing.
used the search button, read a lot but still cannot get the fastboot flash recovery recovery.img to work
run out of ideas, need some help please.
Please specify exactly which error is given when you execute "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"(recovery.img being your recovery image).
Because if you've got fastboot commands working you should be able to flash.

You can flash a recovery with the following command over adb or terminal emulator if your s-off. I know cm7, amonra recovery and rmd recovery support this, others...probably.

version 2.0.10.12

Shouldnt it says 3.0?
anyway... it didnt work... I will try to delete/uninstall everysingle htc driver in my pc or try on another fresh laptop with no htc drivers.
Again here,
new pc, Windows XP SP3 with no HTC/Android software.
Intalled the HTC 3.0 and the phone was not recognized
should I try on win7?
that is going to be my next test
follow up: tryed on win7, htc 3.0.0 drivers didnt work. phone is not recognized.
I know it was working fine... tryed to flash it and it died... resurrected with RIFF Box but cannot flashed with any firmware.
i tried to flash a new hboot with android flasher, but it just reboot and nothing happened.
did you check md5 sum btw? just with the error saying invalid and 1 byte...
So you can still access fastboot but cant flash? hmmm...
I would personally delete all your android sdk and redownload it all and set up adb fastboot again, it does sound like a driver problem

now I went to find a PB99IMG.zip with the same radio.
copied it to the sd
power on the phone
and I got this:

but it is just sitting there, waiting for something to happen?
I tryed to select something but it doesnt respond to anything... can it be that the touch screen is faulty? because it was working at the beginning.
I did redownload everything again.
java sdk and everything
it doesnt work with the htc 3.0 driver, only with 2.0
Hi,
I need your kind advice in fixing my issue. I have DHD Vodafone 3.13.161.3 GB 2.3.5.
I unlocked the phone using HTC official method, phone got restored to factory default and I tried to flash a custom rom without knowing that I need to change the CID.
The phone starts but get stuck on HTC logo, I have EXT4 recovery installed already.
Tried wiping and factory reset but it seems that its of no use. I can boot to hboot, it says unlocked (highlighted) and s-on.
I did try to make a goldcard, put the sdcard in another phone and used the goldcard helper app then went to the site and submitted the CID and downloaded the image and followed the steps.
(got mmc0 and mmc1, I took mmc1 by manually writting it)
I copied another official rom PD98IMG.ZIP downloaded from the net for WWE and ARA versions copied them to SDcard and got into hboot but after loading it says wrong image and goes back to hboot.
I deseparate to get it fixed, would you plz provide some guidance on how to fix it since I was not able to get Vodafone RUU or any other mechanism to fix!
Appreciate your assistance and efforts..

If you unlocked from HTCdev you have to flash kernel in fast boot rename boot.IMG to pd98img.zip and accept update. Then remove or rename to pd98img.zip.bak so it doesn't keep updating. It's because of s-on you should be able to downgrade hboot and s-off.

Thanks for your response Sammael,
Just some background info about my case:
I have DHD from Vodafone UK which was on the latest rom from Vodafone 2.3.5, I did bootloader unlock using HTCDev then flashed Ext4 recovery.
I tried flashing a custom rooted rom based on WWE version using the recovery mode (install zip from sdcard) after which I got the phone stuck on HTC logo screen everytime I try to power it on.
I tried using WWE RUUs with fastboot usb but got err155, I downloaded Vodafone PD98IMG.zip from that was uploaded by a guy in another forum but copying it to the sdcard and loading it using hboot gave me wrong image/rom message. I tried running WWE RUU then copying the PD98IMG.zip to the temp folder and renaming it to rom.zip after deleting the original rom.zip but again I got err155.
I need at least to get back on Vodafone stock rom and fix the problem, I am not sure if I need to relock the bootloader and if I must flash back the stock recovery.
Can anyone help with this as I have been trying different options for the last 4 days and all the tools that were mentioned need to have a functional phone to do usb debugging and charge only mode!

First will cover the obvious you should have unlocked via HTC dev. The hack kit is the way to go about things
Now for the fix.
Download a custom rom on PC, have androidsdk setup
Boot into recovery and reinstall your custom from.(remember to full wipe).
Once complete plug phone into PC and run adb reboot bootloader.
Once in boot loader select fast boot if its not already selected.(should read fast boot USB)
Now in the custom rom you download open it and take out the boot.img and put it wherever you have adb/fast boot folders
Then type the command
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
Fastboot reboot
You will have to do this every time you flash a new rom, since you HTC dev unlocked. I would search into relocking boot loader and using the hack kit

Did you try getting S-OFF via the Advanced Ace Hack Kit? I got a Vodafone DHD on release in Aus and was prompted to make a gold card, eventually managed S-OFF without one.
You get the main version older because your son. And you get the failed remote because your relocked the bootloader. Personally at this point I would unlock the boat loader again, flash cwr then a from and then its boot.img to get a working phone. Then if the pd98img/ruu that you need comes available go back and root properly. But for now I would say to at least get it in a useable state

Depends on what rom you want to install.
So let's say you want to flash cm. Download the rom on your pc. Place a copy of it on your SD card as well. Boot into cwr and flash as usual. Once complete boot into the boot loader.(using adb reboot boatlader is convenient, but you could do it manually by pulley battery and powering up with volume down+power button)
Then take out the boot.img of cm zip and flash as you tried earlier(fastboot flash boot boot.img)
Then reboot phone

I found the original RUU here: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B7S5vzd6Qvh9SDR4cmRwTGZWaXc/edit?usp=sharing

Hi All,
I'm hoping an expert will be able to help me. I have a Desire HD that a friend has asked me to have a look at knowing that I have tinkered around with my android phones. She said it "just happened" while she was out riding her bike one day.
Basically, all I'm getting is the green on white HTC logo regardless of what I try. I can get into HBOOT & fastboot and have tried to flash recovery.img, run RUU, flash boot.img and flash PD98IMG.zip (both via fastboot & direct from root of SD card). I obviously couldn't root the device using AAHK as I can't boot into the phone to enable USB debugging and adb obviously won't work for the same reason.
I've tried flashing both 4ext & CWM recoveries neither of which work. When I try to boot into recovery using by selecting that option in HBOOT it just goes straight back to the green on white HTC logo.
In a vein attempt to get anywhere with it I managed to "unlock" the bootloader using htcdev instructions but it hasn't succeeded in helping with the problem.

The RUU I have tried works to a point and then fails but I'm guessing it's because I need the Vodafone UK RUU which doesn't seem to be anywhere. I tried this one to no avail
Code:
RUU_Ace_Sense30_S_HTC_WWE_3.12.405.1_R_Radio_12.65.60.29_26.14.04.28_M_release_233505_signed.exe
If anyone has any advice it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Hi All,
I'm hoping an expert will be able to help me.
In a vein attempt to get anywhere with it I managed to "unlock" the bootloader using htcdev instructions but it hasn't succeeded in helping with the problem.

ok, are you sure that you actually flashed recovery successfully? unless you have a messed motherboard, you should be able to flash recovery image and then a custom rom.
A RUU won´t work as you have unlocked the bootloader. Make sure that you are flashing the recovery from fastboot and you get the OKAY. Finished in the cmd / terminal session.
If you need further help, just let me know. :good:

Thanks for the quick reply. Here is my CMD text pasted below:
Code:
D:\***\***\***\***\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools>fastboot flash re
covery recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-ace.img
sending 'recovery' (3624 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.613s]
writing 'recovery'...
OKAY [ 0.572s]
finished. total time: 1.188s
It always seems to succeed whichever recovery I use and that's now CWM, Touch CWM & 4ext that I've tried. So is the prognosis a screwed mobo?

If You can't access recoveryi am afraid that does not look Good.
I have just bought this phone, and i've rooted anothers, but i tried every guide, every tool (all of them no longer working), and not even HTCDev could help me.
On HTCDev's 1st step tells me to upgrade the RUU, and i tried with all versions, none worked out.

I can't find a guide to get my S-OFF, all of them fail. I tried too with VISIONary+ r14 and keep frozen on black screen when i attemp to temproot.
Followed this guide to get temporary root. Writing on cmd "adb shell" at last step I got "$" and cant do the downgrade. I have made my Goldcard too, but nothing works...
Please, tell me what should i do, i just want RADIO S-OFF and then i will be capable of root or whatever i like =). Thanks to all anyways.
S-Off takes a great deal of skill now that AAHK is retired. You can still unlock the bootloader though.

The answer is already above you from Mortal Eternity.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2168500
As you can see in that post, you have already done no 1. Just proceed according to the steps mentioned to gain root.
Sent from my Desire HD
Root, Radio S-OFF, SuperCID, SIMUnlock for DHD
At last i got root, S-OFF SIM-Unlock and SuperCID
Just for DHD devices with Android 2.3.5, Sense 3.0, and Build version 3.x!!
Step by step:
0.- (ON YOUR PHONE) "Settings option -> Applications -> Development -> Check the box for USB Debugging to turn it on
1.- Upgrade HBOOT to 2.00.0029
- Download the HBOOTupdate 2.00.0029 (rom.zip) and put it on your C:/ drive.- Download the HBOOTUpdate kit, extract it, and run "hboot update by behtash.bat". Wait until hboot flash complete.
2.- Unlock your BootLoader
- Simple as following HTCDEV steps
3.- Flash CWM Recovery
- Download the Recovery Kit, extract it.- Download the SU flashable.- Put the SU flashable on your SDCard- "Only Charge" mode again and run "flash recovery.bat". Wait for it flash the recovery.- Reboot your phone to Bootloader Screen, go to the recovery and flash now the SU.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Once here you gained root access, the next steps are to get S-OFF, SuperCID, and SIMUnlock.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4.- Flash a new Boot.img
- Download the UpdateBoot Kit, extract it- Run the "flash boot.bat".
5.- Get S-OFF, SuperCID, and SIM Unlock
- Follow the high-level DHD/Inspire manual S-OFF hack concept for advanced users.
All this stuff is a compilation of multiples guides, thanks to all for the support. Good luck with your DHD.
Or you could just head to this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2184953 and do all of the above.

I'm about to pull my hair out, this is so effing stupid. I keep getting stuck at step 1! I have a goldcard and it still wont update to 2.00.0029! I run the update tool, then when I go to fastboot it still says "2.00.0027" at the top. What am I doing wrong?
Read carefully : the unlockable bootloader update would seam to be region specific to make and model of phone, there are about 4 or 5 different versions on the htcdev website, please check the correct model and region of phone first...
Here's an idea try the PD98IMG.ZIP in this post, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=40498764 it is the hboot 2.0.29 update you use via direct bootloader flashing.
Read the whole thread, it should help.... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2239497
