So heres the details. Did the unrevoked flash. Got superuser. Successful root, but wanted to flash CM6. Downloaded via Rom manager, when to reflash and got stuck in boot loader loop. Dragged and dropped eng boot loader package onto SD card from different thread (seen here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=752832). Now superuser is missing. Also, every time I reboot it reloads image from zip. Should I just remove zip from SD? Why did superuser disappear? S-off is still there. h-boot: 0.76.? Thanks for your help in advance!
Try downloading it from the market.

lol, did that, and none of my rooted apps recognize it. Rom manager said I need one in system/bin/su I tried to move via astro and root explorer but neither would let me saying it needed to be a read only file.
Remove the ZIP from your SD card, get ChainsDD's Superuser from the Market. Problem solved.
Thats the one I downloaded, however rom manager says I am not rooted and it cannot find file in system/bin/su or system/xbin/su
FIXED!!
Lol, apparently downloading from the market was the older version. I went ahead and downloaded zip file from dev original thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=682828
flashed in recovery and presto chango I have my SU back.. Thanks guys!
where'd my su go?
This was ugly dude, good job on the recovery, sheez.
Alright, so I honestly have no Idea what to do now. I've got an Xperia Play R800X, and a TON of questions. First, what causes your bootloader to Re-Lock? I want to make sure that doesn't happen. Next, how do I get Jelly Bean on my Play? I'm not sure what the best Kernel and Rom to use are. Next, HOW do you flash kernels and ROMs? Any help is appreciated!

the only way to re-lockyour bootloader that I know of is to flash a re-lock bootloader.zip file.
For the kernel you'll have to search for one that's compatible with JB, then flash the rom. Read this.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1808289
That helps, but, say, in FXP, there's a folder that has boot.img, system, and META-INF. What do I do with those. Which is the ROM, which is the Kernel...
The rom is the zip itself, the kernel is the boot.img in the zip. The kernel must first be extracted, then flashed in fastboot with the command "fastboot flash boot boot.img"

Alright, I'll try that. Last time I got stuck in a bootloop, because I flashed the ROM and never did the Kernel. So, let me get this straight:
1) Drag the Zipped FXP ROM/Kernel Folder into CWM Backup folder.
2) Restore from that Folder.
3) Go into Fastboot
4) Go into Flashtool and Flash the Boot.img
That's what I know to do. Anything I should change first? I'll be waiting for a reply before I actually do it.
Did I get that all right? I'm about to try this...
No. Flash the kernel first. Boot into ClockworkMod Recovery by following the directions on FXP's details page (should be either a volume button or the left shoulder button for most kernels). Put the zip file on your SD card, then flash the zip from inside clockwork mod. Please look around, there are some REALLY simple tutorials on this already posted here. They're even stickied at the top of the forum
I flashed the kernel and booted. I can't get into CWM and get a bootloop...
Edit: I went into Recovery, and never saw an option to flash. Just restore from a backup. Im using the CWM installer v5.

should be under restore if yo placed it on the sd card.
I did. It says Installation aborted. I didn't get to read it, I'll try to recreate the error.
The option is called "install from SD card" it should be the second option from the start screen
Nope, that's Apply update from SD Card. Now, I'm getting a MD5 Mismatch. This just isn't my day...
Then choose apply update from sd card. How the hell do you get an md5 mismatch when installing a rom? That only happens when restoring a backup.
Short Answer: I have no Idea what I'm doing.
Long Answer: I had no idea what I'm doing, but I might have a slight understanding now. I'll try again...
This time it says error in /sdcard/update.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.
Maybe try deleting the boot.img from the zip file. I don't know if it can install correctly if the boot.img is still in the zip, because I've always removed it before flashing
I'll give that a go...
Same Error as before.

wait a second, is your zip file called "update.zip" or something else?
EDIT: If it's called something else, then choose "install zip from sdcard" which is a few lines below "apply update from sdcard". Then in that menu, select "choose zip from sdcard". Then pick your zip file
The first time I renamed the file update.zip. I'll try again in the morning, I'm tired, and a bit frustrated with all of this. I wish someone could do it for me... Though there is an Android dev at school. I'll let him take a look at it, if I have time.
So im pretty new to this but here is what im trying to do. I just got an asus nexus 7 2013 and i want to install it in the dash of my car. I plan to use a usb dac (dragonfly) and i want to be able to hook a hard drive up to it for media storage. So far ive rooted and backed up the tablet using the wugfresh NRT, and i want to try out this kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2389022 because it has usb charging and it can charge the device at the same time. But i have no idea how to install something like this and i couldnt find anything after i searched. Thanx.
That link isn't taking me anywhere...
Basically you just download the .zip file, copy it to your internal memory/sdcard (which is /sdcard), boot into your custom recovery, I would recommend wiping /cache and Dalvik (but some people say you don't have to), then selecting "Install" then browsing your /sdcard to find the zip, then Install...Reboot.
Alrite so i have no idea what you just told me too do, i tried to boot it up by holding the VOL down and power buttons. I went to custom recovery, but from there, i cant understand what commands im supposed to give the tablet that would enable it to bootup on the new rom. but i figured out that i can install a custom recovery with my wugfresh nexus root tool kit. But my problem is when i try to select the rom file that i want to use, It wont show an actual img file. When i go to the page to download the rom, all i get is an automatic download for a zip file. The NRT wont flash the zip file, and when i extract it, theres no image for the NRT to target. So how do i get this rom to be an IMG file or is there another way to do this. thanx.
You flash zips from the custom recovery on the phone. You flash imgs from fastboot on the computer.
If you have a custom recovery installed, you don't need a computer at all to flash a kernel (or a ROM). Just the custom recovery on your phone. Select the kernel zip and install it.
Oh boy. You sure you have a custom recovery?
My advice.
Install GooManager from Play Store.
Open and click on the three dots.
Install OpenRecovery Script.
Click the option for Reboot Recovery.
Install.
Navigate to the zip file.
Swipe to install.
You may want to wipe or whatever but up to you.
I mean this is the basis for everything and you don't know. I'd suggest doing more research before blasting away on the tablet and asking these types of questions. This is all very basic.
Good luck.

i went with goo.im and installed the elemental IX kernel. the only thing wierd that happened was that it wouldnt let me install it if i checked the verify zip box, so i just didnt verify it. everything else looks like it worked fine. thanx.
As the title said, I just flashed a custom rom into my device ( CM11 kitkat 4.4.2)
Its the first time i root and flash my device
So now, goo manager told me that there is an update available for my device, i follow the instruction of it by downloading it
after that it pop up saying that my device need to have an open script recovery, (I searched youtube, they usually use twrp to update the CM custom ROM), so press yes and it started to download + install
There's a small pop up that saying I have installed twrp on my device, but when i press on reboot into recovery, it shows CWM recovery, even I try reboot into recovery by using ROM Manger.
How do I solve this ?
I just want to install TWRP and uninstall CWM as they said TWRP works better with CM version ?
and one small question, can i delete the zip file that i use to flash the ROM in my external sdcard, and the zip file that i have to use to update after flashing them or updating them ?

Cause you need to reflash your recovery. If you downloaded a zip file boot in CWM and flash the recovery zip file.If you downloadeded .tar.md5 file you need to put your phone into download mode ,open odin on your laptop and flash the recovery file (you need to transfer the .tar.md5 file to your laptop).Well you shouldn't delete your current ROM zip file to be honest you should have atleast have one ROM zip file (with the appropriate add ons needed ) just incase you run into trouble you can always flash the ROM from scratch (incase you don't have a back up of it on your sd card) I always keep one touch wiz ROM and one CM11 ROM zip file along with zip files of philz touch and twrp recovery (i don't do nandroid backups-personal choice) on my sd card.

Correct, that's how one replaces their existing recovery with another recovery. At end of flashing the zip file ,go back to main menu and click on "reboot recovery" ,You'll see your new recovery

Thanks you really helped me a lot
sorry for late reply as my replies are limited because im just new to here
By the way, one more question is is there anyway i can flash back to my stock rom but remain rooted?
and what if i want to unroot it
because i found this ROM quite buggy as in the camera app, i am a person that will take picture everyday, panaroma is quite important to me
i found this camera is very very very poor haha
furthermore, whenever in a skype call, i will hear nothing if i plugged in my earphone o.o
so i will probably flash back to stock rom but remain rooted is case of flashing other more stable rom
Hi ^^ I a new with this tablet, i see a lot of roms! But y can't make a zip for flash in this model, how i can zign a update.zip? For apps, personal roms, etc? Please help me
I'm not sure what you are trying to flash or zip to flash but be careful. What recovery are you using first off. TWRP will flash pretty much any zip to your tablet and that is why you have to be very careful as the wrong zip will brick your device.
As far as flashing apks in recovery, I can't imagine why as all you need to do is download from Playstore or side load from a web site download, again be careful as Google checks their apks and downloads from other than Google Playstore can't always be trusted.
Most sips that you download that have apks in them, you need to extract the apk first and you will then be able to install the apk through your install manager. But if it is to be flashed for install there are other files included in the zip and they are there to trek your recovery what to do with the zip.
I hope this helped in sine way. Happy Flashing....
