I am having the most annoying issue with my EVO. I have the 0003 version of the EVO and I am using a WinTec Class 10 SDHC card. The problem I am having is that whenever I listen to music I get stutters. This happens when I am not running anything else in the background. I have tried several sense ROM's and ALL of them do it. I suspect the SD card as the test shows 4mb/s write and 6mb/s read. Anyone have any input?

Hi
I've noticed since upgrading that now when listening to music any other SD card usage ie downloads or news retrieval causes the playback to cutout for a second as the data is written. Anyone have this problem. It used to be fine before 2.2.

I have noticed this too actually.
haven't tried much past the stock media player tho,
Can't say I've really noticed any of these problems.
It's probably that more things are stored on the SD card with froyo so it is being accessed more than before.
What SD card do you have? I would say you need a decent one with a decent speed class.
Phil
I noticed this with the stock player.
I am now running mixzing, which is a fantastic app, the first I have actually paid for.
It allows you to change the buffer size, and I haven't noticed it skip since. (16Gb Class 2 card)
I`ve tried the stock player, mixzing and double twist and they all have problems.
I put the buffer upto very high on mixzing but still problems.
I notice it most if i do a refresh in the Newsroom app, but also when browsing in astro but not as bad. I`m using a transcend 8gb class 2 card.
Hi all,
I have an unrooted unbranded Desire on latest firmware.
When I record a sample 30 second HD video it plays back on the computer fine.
However, when I try to playback a HD video from the gallery on the phone it stutters and plays very badly the first time. If I play it again immediately it is perfectly smooth. It's like it has cached it the second time so it plays smooth.
Can someone check this on their phone and tell me if perhaps it's just my card speed (class 2). I think it may be the card because of the fact it only stutters the first time like its trying to read/play at the same time. On second playing it's fine.
any feedback would be great. thanks alot!!!
Would anyone like to try and replicate it? just record a 30second HD video and play it back on the phone. Is it smooth on first playback or does it stutter.
I think it might be the memory card, but don't want to shell out 60euro on a class 4 unless I'm mostly sure. thanks alot
Myself and others have been experiencing much slower SD card speeds in Froyo than in Eclair. See this thread and this one. I think that your problem could be related, and if so buying a faster SD card probably won't help.
thanks Koider
I have been having issues with some of my .mp3 files that I'm playing from the SD card on my evo. I am running Flipz Fresh 3.5 ROM right now. Here is what happens, randomly in the song, the audio will stutter, or pause, and resume, and I am not receiving a call or any notifications. I have played these on another source, and it is not the .mp3 file. I just reformatted my SD card ( A Class 6 Kingston) and used 16kb cluster size, as recommended by a battery drain fix somewhere else on the forum. Any ideas to fix this problem?
I have the same issue man but it only happens occasionally. Are you using the stock android music player widget? I noticed when I used PowerAmp (paid app) the problem didn't come back.
Have you upgraded the MicroSD Card? Are you using at least a Class 6 card?
Kingston cards are known for going bad. Might want to try this instead:

How to check the class of an sd card?
Swyped From Eva Running Myn's RLS4.95 On The Now Network!
Are you using any equalizer apps? I had issues while using dsp manager.. all better after disabling it.
Every ROM I've tried, I have always had this lag between the video and the audio. Is there a way of fixing this or what could be causing this issue? I've issues of this appearing in Synergy and KingRoms.
I have used both of those ROMs (builders) with no issues. One thing that helps tremendously is a good and fast SD card. Reads and writes with a higher class SD prevents alot of lag when recording video. Try a class 6 or higher. If I am not mistaken, the I/O on the EVO 4G only supports up to class 6 anyway.
Good luck!
I'll look into that, thanks!
So I have a Sandisk 32GB Class 10 Micro SD attached to my phone.
It can play music files, record videos and capture Photos without a hitch.
Problem happens only when I start video playback. 30% of the time, when playing a video the video playback hangs up in the middle and the phone reboots itself.
Does it sound more like a memory card issue (which I hope so)? or more of a phone issue? I did a factory reset on my phone my phone and that doesn't seem to help.
Couple of things I'm planning to try:
re-format the memory card and try again. Should I try formatting the card from my phone or from a PC?
Record video to the internal phone memory and playback see if the hangup comes back again.
Try a 32GB class4 sandisk card which I posses(recommended?)
The reason for this thread is....are there any known issues using sandisk class 10 32GB card on the phone? or any class 10 32GB card in general? Please share your thoughts!
I've not had any issues with mine and I have the same one. Try a different video player and then maybe reformat the card. Seems odd to be only 30% of the time
