I have a US Cellular Desire and I want some freedome with it. We have been told that we'll be getting the 2.2 update every month since October... I'm tired of waiting.
I'm thinking about rooting but nervous to. I want to know that I would be able to go back to completely stock if I wanted to.
The more I read about rooting and custom ROM's, the more confused I get. Can someone give me some guidance/advice for a US Cellular Desire?
Thanks!
I know I'm new to this forum so I wanted to ask if maybe I've posted in the wrong place or if I've maybe asked the question wrong. Or, maybe it's not possible to root a US Cellular Desire??
Is there anyone out there who has rooted and flashed a custom ROM on a US Cellular Desire that might be able to help me?
Huh... 59 views and I'm the only one that has responded to my own post. Well, thanks anyways guys. I guess I'll just find a different android forum and hope they are more helpful than this one.

Hi All... i'm a noob when it comes to this stuff... i'll apologise in advance.
I've inherited a Diamond Touch from my mum, she had issues with the speed and the phone doing strange things. I want to update it and get it working properly for her, but there is soooo much information on this site (good work by the way), i'm lost.
Can someone please advise me on the correct ROM for the Telstra branded phone, that will get every working correctly for her? (and how to flash it correctly - again, sorry for the noob invasion)
Thanks
{edit - just read in another thread, there is a new rom being released by HTC for the Telstra phones this month. Would it be best to wait for that, or is one of the customer roms here still be better?}
i have a tmobile wing aka htc atlas, and i cannot find it on this forum? its just not here, and i know its not that old, i need to know where i can get roms for this particular phone, where i could get the rom upgrade tool for it, and directions PLZ HELP, i beg anyone who reads this and knows a place where i could find alll this info plz help me. i used to have a htc himalaya, and did upgrades daily, however i forgot everything and lost all the rom sites , i know the risks so dont warry, i just really need the above information (directions on how to upgrade, latest roms for my device, rom upgrade program, and anything else i need to do an upgrade.)

Hi Guys,
I'm afraid I'm a bit of a N00B, but I've just recieved the HTC Desire with Telstra (AUS) ROM.
I'd like to contribute to the community: can anyone point out an Idiots Guide to maming an image of the ROM?

Cant be done as yet mate. Im guessing you are wanting to upgrade to the unbranded ROM?
Nope not looking for unbranded. Just wanting to copy the Telstra Rom so that others can dissect and play with it
The Telstra one has some extra apps (including what looks to be a new flash plugin) that may be of interest to Cookers....
So anyone help me to create an image of this phone??
I need to do this too. For a different reason. Telstra loaded the ROM up with 'cr-apps' that are basically just links to their web pages. It's horrible, but worst they broke the GPS in the process.
Someone has created a gold card and reports that this makes the GPS work (and gets rid of the crap) but Telstra won't provide warranty on devices with other ROMs.
So...I may need to put it back.
Can someone point us in the right direction? It must be possible yeah?

All,
I am new to this Forum and posted this previously in the wrong section
I am interested in eliminating HTC sense and some of the Sprint bloatware from my HTC EVO 4G. Can someone please explain how to do this? Do I need to ROOT my phone, install a new ROM or BOTH? If a new ROM is required, which ROM would you recommend?
Also, in case I run into any issues, I would like to be able to restore the stock HTC EVO software (OS). Is that possible? From my understanding, this would be possible. Is that correct?
Any assistance you can offer is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Zach

here is some info on rooting your phone. read, absorb and see if it is something you want to attempt. (its not difficult, you just need to follow directions accurately)
you may also want to do some searching of the forums for the rest of the info you seek. the folks here are helpful, but can be a bit on the hard side if you arent doing anything to help yourself.
Ah yes, the many joys of Forums. The more you read the more you get confused by everyones differing opinion.
What is the most comprehensive instructions available on this site for rooting an HTC EVo and installing a cyanogenmod ROM on it? Also, does the current cyanogenmod ROM support 4G?
Cyanogens rom does not support 4g yet. What you need to do is read as much of the stuff on here as you can for about a week or two. Especially if you have not rooted a phone before. Good luck.
Hello guys, im newbie in roms and all the phones stuff so please dont criticise I have a HTC Desire Z with Android 2.2. My question here is how to update it to newer? 4.4.4 would be awesome, i want newest i can. I found some posts on couple of forums about this but every was like "format, flash, update, boooom done". Can anyone tell me how to do it from begining? I mean how to format it the way it should be, how to flash, what do i need etc.
Also i found this rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1374927
Is it good? I know i shouldnt ask what rom should i pick, im just asking is it good to use on this phone.
Thanks in advance
Hi,
The second post in this thread will help you understand the initial process
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2348266
You need to use gfree to exploit and root if you want radio s-off which is the only way you should root this phone. And be sure to read through all those links to understand fully first, I know it may be overwhelming but it is important.
As for best ROM, we don't make suggestions in xda but the third and forth post will link you to every to available. Gingerbread runs the best overall but there are many ICS and jb ROMs that work almost as well (some will say better) and KitKat has come a long way where many will find that it suffice for daily use.
You'll have to try a few, make backups, try a few more to see what works best for you
If you get stuck somewhere just ask in that thread and many are there to jump in and help
Best of luck!
Kay so i downgraded my phone with fre3vo and rebooted, everything was fine. Now the guide says i should head back to official rooting guide on wiki but the problem is i cant root it now. At downgrading it worked with no problems but now i just cant do it. Can anyone help please?
You will have to be more specific
