Hello!
I don't know how it might be called but I'm looking for apps where I can schedule time for turning on bluetooth, wi-fi, etc. and turn it off by time. Schedule to run some apps and schedule to shut those down when I need it.
Is it possible or I want too much.
Please, can somebody help me to find it?
Thank you
I know tasker can.do this and alot more

Locale is nice its location based though. Might be better than time.

I just wanted a quick way to be able to do this in order to save battery when i dont need it.
i have read/heard that having gps enabled and active doesnt actually use any more battery until it is fed into a maps program (or something similar) which must then use that info to find a location from the internet.
so:
1) does gps really use extra battery when it is enabled/active but not actually being used at the time?
2) what is the best way to terminate the gps connection?
thx, Jim.
somewhere i read that if u go into settings...phone...services...location settings and turn that off (only 911 will use gps) it saves battery...but i havent even updated my vogue to use gps yet so i've only heard this in another thread...i wonder what happens if say u run googlemaps and try using gps while its off, will it enable or just not lock any satelittes?

ya i have read that about the location setting too, im just not sure if that really truly shuts gps off/terminates it completely....? anyone?
as for if it will work with the location setting disabled i am testing it now and...looks like it wont so..maybe that does the trick? hmm not sure...
alright well after another 10000 hrs of fooling around with roms and gps i have learned a lot. but the thing relative to this thread that i just checked is that you do not need location enabled to use gps. works just dandy w/o it. though i think that is where the agps comes in and therefore can/will probably help a bit to have it on, though it does drain more battery so i think im going to leave mine off for the time being.
Hi all,
i've the new RC mix 3d on my htc desire HD. For a while it was working as a charm. But, after some hours it gave me the same issue as before. HTC locations is asking if I want to buy their maps, what is pretty annoying because i dont use it.
How can i get rid of it? Is there a way to shut it off? Or maybe it's handy if someone knows how this is possible, its the stock rcmix 3d nothing special, I dont have GPS on, and it's still asking
Anyone? I realy want to get rid of it because it's pretty damn annoying!

Try to use the app "autostarts" available at the market or somewhere else ( and disable Google maps in thelist "after start"... that should work
Allright Thanks, I downloaded Automanager, I deactivated the HTC locations shiznit, but after half a day, it's automaticaly booting. Is there an other way to get passed this issue?

Try to activate it once and then deactivate it in its settings... I dont know something about Automanager, but in "Autostarts" you have different categories, where you can deactivate Apps starting automaticly... thats just the way it works for me...
Btw, i'd deactivated the whole Google-Maps app from autostart, i think that had direct effects to locations app... maybe thats the way to do...

allright, i want to download autostarts but you need to pay for it that's why ive downloaded the other app. Maybe you can upload it or something? I will try to shut all the google map things off.
Do you also know why my speaker is always on? I've searched douzen forums, but its not dirty the usb port, and after a reset its okay but somehow it begins again. thanks
Pls help
Every 5mins HTc locations window will pop up and ask me to purchase the premium navigation and its really irritating and taking the phone crazy, speaker would be on by default for all the calls and i formatted the entire phone n sd card and later found its such a cheap trick by HTC..can any one could help me to deactivate HTC Locations...

I don't think this is possible in latitude but maybe it is and I've missed it?
I want my students to be able to find my location during the day but I want the service to shut off at 5pm automatically? Is that possible in latitude or can someone recommend another service?
I'll be using my nexus tab as I always have that on me.
I'm thinking about building an application for personal use. The details aren't important but one of the things i would like to be able to do is turn the wifi hotspot on or off. I've looked around, but haven't been able to find anything on the subject, or whether or not it's even possible.
Does anybody have some information on this?
Most ICS ROM's have that option built in...have you tried app store search or just a google search?

If you intend to have your phone automattically turn on wifi hotspot based on certain profiles, Tasker will do that for you. You can find it in the playstore. It's a paid app though.
Well, i suppose suggestions for apps that do the sort of thing i want to do. Unfortunately there's nothing out there that does what i want, because I want something rather unusual.
I spoke to a friend yesterday and he pointed me in the direction of the API i want (which contrary to my initial assumptions was not DHD specific), so when i have the time i can put together my tool.
Thanks anyway
Work no longer let's us carry our phones with us there for the 360 will spend a lot of its time with no phone connection. I'm assuming it will still keep time? I only ask because an early Sony smart watch couldn't. What else? Can you still set timers use the stop watch? Can you use apps that don't require Internet connection like a calculator?
Anyone?
I don't have one but if it's like the g watch you will be able to still use the functions you asked about.

That's what I would expect.. But you never know these days. I just didn't want some usless brick that says please sync all day.
Thanks
Yes, I can still check the time, set a timer, use the stop watch, etc. I haven't found a calculator app that works on the round display, yet.
It seems like voice recognition doesn't work, but anything you can run from the menu does. So you can set an alarm, timer, etc, though you have to use the touch interface which may not be as flexible.
I hope they give the option for offline voice recognition at some point. I think it would be very advantageous to be able to do basic tasks like setting reminders, alarms and creating notes etc. these could easily then sync once the phone is reconnected. There's no hardware reason why this wouldn't be possible it will just require implementation.

Also, if you put it in airplane mode, it doesn't even give you the voice prompt screen... instead it immediately shows the list of activities / apps you can do. Voice on that screen does not work at all. Too bad!

I'm pretty sure this is not possible. When you first take it out of the box, it asks for a language, after selecting one, no swiping, tapping, or anything else can get it from a screen saying to download the Wear app on your phone. It simply will not do anything until it does.
That's my experience, anyway. I couldn't get anything until my phone synced.

Yeah I talked to motorola customer service and they said that it won't ask that if it doesn't detects a android phone nearby. Hope this is true.
You have access to all of your watch apps like still. All apps that depended on your phone (like google now) won't work anymore. Basically what you'd expect.
