Get a file converter for your PC. Find the sound you want and convert it to a .ogg file move it to the folder mentioned above and name it Unlock.ogg. or that's how I did it anyway. You have to name it exactly as the origional Unlock.ogg file. The u is capitalized.
My EVO can kick your EVO's A$$

Copying the ringtones into the SD card folder enables the files to show up in the ringtones selection, they don't actually produce any sound. Seems like our phones don't like the .ogg file type, as my phone takes custom mp3 files just fine.

If you guys are viewing mediafire from your phone, use Google Chrome and switch to request desktop view and it will show.

Get foobar and Lame encoder - then drag the files into the foobar window and then right click on the files (select all), convert (to mp3), and walk through the prompts (you need to download LAME too - try free codecs dot com).

Just went through them and you might be dissapointed though - I've seen a lot better sounds on most custom roms...

Is this for the UI and if it isn't then how would I be able to install them on my phone? Thanks

hey
you have to extract the file on another route. Now you have to copy and move. for example if you are going to move ringtone move it to this route. /system/media/audio/ringtones. Notifications /system/media/audio/notifications. Alarms /system/media/audio/alarms. and ui is the same but do not quite understand yet that I have little in this. when finished reboot and then go to settings and you will see in the sounds. sorry I do not understand much English.

OK well I have the ringtones part done and I've copied and pasted the UI sounds in /system/media/audio/UI. Then I rebooted and didn't work. Did I do something wrong.

Anyone know how to get rid of the start up sound? I look in the bin files but not sure the name of file. Or I'm just not looking in the right place.
Help?

Using a root explorer System>media>audio>ui delete or rename "PowerOn.ogg"
Thank you! The sound has been driving me crazy. I should've known there was an easy way to get rid of it.
Sweet! Thank you!

Is it fine to just delete the file - does it result in any errors? Would it be better to replace it with an empty dummy .mp3 file instead or doesn't matter? Thanks
Easiest thing to do is just rename it, adding a .bak to the end of it. Still there if you want to use it later, but not used right now
Just Wondering if Anyone With Cricket's Muve Music Version of this device could pull their default build.prop file and post it here, i am working on a theory on enabling some higher end features.
How and what services?

Usually in /system and then build.prop, if your rooted use es file explorer to navigate to /system then long press and copy, paste the copy to the root of your sd card and transfer to xda

Changed the name to .txt.
It might be a *little* different than the device in the market as I had an early build.
Question - how does one enable talk & data on a CDMA device???
By adding a coupleof lines into the build.prop of the device, usually all Verizon phones have the feature enabled when flashed to cricket, so I'm taking those 8 or 9 properties adding them to the prop file and replacing the default with the modified. To get it to work with this device I'm using the props from the incredible 4g

Hi, I recently noticed a .enref file that is 7kb big on the root of my sd card. I just flashed a rom to my EVO 4G as well, Digital Karma V8 Reincarnation. I formatted my sd card before installing the rom, so I know it is not from the rom itself. I opened up the file in a text editor, and in plain text the word "android" was displayed in it. Should I be worried about this file at all? What is it for?
Also, using es file explorer on my phone, I do not find the file on the root of my SD card. I will check again on my computer to see if it appears there and tell you guys.

Alright well I just checked, I can see it on ny Windows pc but not on my phone using es file explorer. Does anyone have a clue at all what this file is for?

Anyone?

A Google search doesn't turn up anything, so I'd either leave it and not stress over a 7KB file or rename it .enref.old, reboot and see if anything doesn't work. If so, you can always rename it back
Alright thank you for the information.

This is an old thread, but just in case anyone finds this thread through Google like I did, the .enref file is created by Evernote Food and can be safely deleted.

Did you try fixing the permissions?
I never done this but done other stuff. Find the folder where the sound files are located, look and remember their permission.(rw--r--r) or something like that. Rename the new sound files to the exact name of your systems old one. Copy a back up of your old sound files(optional). Then copy over the new sound files replacing the old ones
Now reboot.
Open file manager and change the permissions to match the old one.
Reboot.
Enjoy.
