[Q] Looking for mods and flashables please - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Greetings. Just got my evo rooted and all that jazz.
I'm looking for some mods and flashable edits, kernels and anything I can get, honestly.
Thank you thank you

You will find all of those under the development section. I suggest looking at Cyanogenmod.

dev section.
themes apps section.
be happy
be free
be a flashaholic

as others have said you can find under theme&apps as well as in development. While Cyanogenmod is a great rom i suggest you flash several and experiment till you find the one you like best. Cyanogenmod's official release doesnt yet have 4g and is ASOP so many of the things you are used to with sense are very diffrent. Much easier transition into a Sense based rom till you have your feet wet. Some big ones are FRESH, Myn's Warm 2.2, and Evio

[Q] Is there a current and thorough custom ROM comparison chart?

I've been on Fresh Evo 3.1.0.1 pretty much since July 2010, and I'm thinking of upgrading to Fresh 3.5.0.1. However, before I do, I'd really like to know if there's some sort of custom ROM comparison thread or spreadsheet. When I was looking for a custom ROM originally, someone posted a very very helpful Google Doc spreadsheet that compared the features of the (then) crop of custom ROMs.
While I'm mostly generally interested in a comprehensive comparison, specifically, I've been wondering what the advantages of Myn's Warm TwoPointTwo are, since it seems to be very popular lately.
Is there any spreadsheet or other comparison so I could easily figure out how the current custom ROMs differ?
I do not know where there is a spreadsheet comparing roms...but here is a link of almost every rom available for the evo. It is updated almost weekly.

[Q] Feminine Themes or ROMs?

Hi I've been reading here for awhile and just decided to post on here. I'm really considering rooting and was wondering. Are there any feminine type themes or ROMs? I did a search and all I found was this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=860559 and it looks good but I'm really nervous on rooting because I don't want to brick my phone. I've read through the noob faq and also the ROM bible but I'm not sure if its what I'm looking for. Sorry if I'm confusing but I'm trying to learn more about making the phone my own. TIA!
29 views and no posts? No I'm not impatient or anything just wondering if anybody is gonna comment or help me out?
I think the reason people may have simply viewed and not posted is due to the lack of feminine themes out there. Are you looking for the latest and greatest, or simply a ROM that's nice and stable for now? Making themes for the Froyo ROM is much easier then making themes for the Gingerbread ROM. I am currently undergoing a massive undertaking of completely themed Gingerbread ROMs (as a hobby) and would not mind setting some time aside to make a few ROMs of the more feminie nature if enough people would like that.
It's good that you looked at the noob FAQ and did your research. before posting. As far as bricking the phone? There is always that chance, but the new methods for rooting the Slide are nearly foolproof now and wish it was that easy when I first rooted.
If you and/or other people post in this thread with if they would rather a CM6 or CM7 theme and how feminine they/you want it to look, I can lend some time to making a theme that is more suited to a womans taste. Do keep in mind that CM7 is experimental and has problems with a wide variety of users, CM6 however is much more stable.

Thank you so much for replying! I would like something stable without lots of problems. I wouldn't want to trouble you with taking time away from you working on something you are passionate about. But I do thank you for the offer. (if you do have the time to do so then thank you in advance) I'm gonna read around some more and hopefully see what I can find. Thanks again!
Also there is always the option to use apps such as adwlauncher, openhome etc that offer variety of themes

I've read about a few of those. I've tried adwlauncher before and I didn't like it to well (was moving between screens REALLY slow). Might try it again once I'm rooted. Thanks for the reply!
I posted a ROM over in the Themes and Apps section. Here is the link to the thread.

Hi aa,
I would be very interested in a feminine themed rom.
I currently have the SLIDE-Reloaded v1 which is in the bible by True blue. This guys really has it manned up so I had to delete a few things but what I really liked was that fact that it was pretty close to the stock rom. I had initially installed CM6 when I first purchased the phone and cannot really pin point what it was about CM6 that I didn't like.
I don't know a whole lot about this so please bear with me. Would installing another rom delete my apps and settings? To me the obvious answer is yes but I could be wrong.
Cheers!!

To be honest I did mention either CM6 (Froyo) or CM7 (Gingerbread) for the feminine themes, as that is currently what I am familiar with. I am going to make a more pink/lavender CM6.1.1 ROM in the near future as soon as I finish my newest CM7 project.
And yes, it is recomended to do a wipe before installing a different style ROM, like going from a Sense UI to a CM based ROM. You can always try an advanced nandroid restore and just restore data...

aa, I did see the post but thought of expressing my interest anyway lol (power in numbers hahaha)
Thanks for the work!!!

[Q] Sense 2.1 Questions

Hey everyone. Im looking to create a custom rom based off of the Evo Shift, and have never done anything like this before. I was wondering if any of the developers would have a list of fixes that they wouldnt mind sharing or possibly some insight on how to go about it. I know im mostly going to be looking for mms over wifi, market fix, and then possibly look at adding alot of 3.0 features as an update if possible. Thanks
You may want to talk to Wildstang or Newtoroot. They have some pretty extensive Roms that resemble the features of the Rom you want to make. Newt is leaving for the Inc2, but I'm sure he can still help you out.

I'm gonna suggest hunting down Chingy on themikmik.com. He's moved onto the Tbolt, but he's still working on dInc ROMs in his spare time too. Ziggy with infectedrom.com might be of help too. Currently, Ziggy's kernels are the most functional to be had on the Tbolt. Both of them are experts at ripping apart .apk's and repacking them nice and lean.

+1 Chingy's a great dev and is known to figure out stuff before anyone else. Track him down first if possible.

Which rom should I get?

I'm finally tired of seeing everyones phones blow by mine speed wise so I think its time to find a faster rom than the stock. I don't need a ton of extras or themes, just the closest to stock experience with more speed. I'm leaning towards Virtuous G-Lite. Its not the overclockest I know, but it seems near-stockest. Any opinions/reviews are welcome!

search please. search!!!!
Its been asked a million times. You will find people with every single ROM under the sun that will say it works for them. It is 100% personal preference.
Just go through the dev section, read the description and features, look through the comments in the thread, and if you like it then flash it.
You can always go back to your current ROM. Just make nandroid backups of every ROM you try and you can switch back and forth until you choose one you like.
The most popular AOSP (close to stock) ROMs are CM7, G-lite, and super simple ROMs like Xboarder56's stock.
Well I was moreso looking for a list of the closest to stock (AOSP) which you provided, and I have looked over the features of CM7 and G-lite, which is why I was leaning towards G-lite, I was just looking for personal experience because you can read features of a million and a half different roms, (which I have) but none will list "buggy as hell" or "eats battery" in their feature list. Thank you for the response!

But thats why I indicate that you read through some recent posts in the ROM thread. If its a good ROM people will actively be posting and following the issues and you can see them there.
And even at that point, its all how they're personally using and setting up the ROM. Their experience can be quite different from yours. If it works for you, then that's what matters. I really recommend just flashing and trying yourself.
In the amount of time you made these posts and read the replies, you easily could have just flashed one of those ROMs and be trying it out. Seriously, flashing a ROM is fast and simple (if already rooted and S-Off), just start flashing and see what you like. Even if you got tons of advice and opinions on the ROMs, the real proof is in the pudding, and trying them yourself.
As far as I know there is g-lite gingerbliss i think that are stock looking, but I know most aosp roms like cyanogen will look similar since the G2 stock rom was pretty much vanilla android. I was looking for the same thing and went with the completely stock prer00ted GB and it is way faster than froyo! I was gonna overclock but i'm kinda happy with it. I'll prob give g-lite a spin when they update one more time

[Q] rom wiki

so i just came from evo 4g to the epic and so far i am very very happy that i made the switch.. however one thing that i really did love about there forums was that they had a wiki aka database where all of the roms and kernals were and was up to the dev to update these and they were all catagorized in aosp g.b. etc... and by version etc.. i was wondering why this has not been done in the epic community should stiky fairly quickly unless it has already been done and i missed it... if i did i'm sorry for waister your time and mine.
We have one, but it dosnt get updated often, I was actually going to update some of it soon. Sorry I can't link to it at the moment. I would say try some of the EC05 roms, most of the goods ones find their way back to the first or second page.
Wiki Link
I had been updating it but I can't any longer
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S/SPH-D700
Looks like all the ROMS are gone from the page.
So it is basically useless now; I had had everything upto the leaks.
There is a better theme thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1226056
looks like right now there isn't a good ROM list available.
Some of the popular and still active EC05 ROMs are, SyndicateROM 1.2, RandomROM Pheniox, Epic Revolution, IAP's Rebirth and urban regeneration found in the development area.
I like the one I run but it is no longer active as the dev moved on to epic 4g touch.
Hope this helps some.
