I found this gif online somewhere and made a boot animation out of it for a friends backflip. I then tried it on a Motorola Cliq Xt and my own G1.
I've had a report that the animation played very nicely on the mt3g which is good news cause it played too fast on both the motorola devices and too slow on my G1
this is actually my first boot animation
I like it. Gonna use it for a lil.
very cute.. like it
couldnt get it to flash. any idea y. 32b mt3g

came up as original bootscreen? i.e. metallic text "android" with sweeping shine/flash?
nevermind, forgot to change permissions

It's not a flashable zip.
you have to replace it with the "bootanimation.zip" in you're rom.
funny animation thx
How can I get this on Droid X with Gingerbread? I am not good at programing so a step by step would be great!
Thanks to anyone who can help!

The Droid X has a much higher resolution than the mytouch 3g, so if you tried to set this as your boot animation it'll look weird.
I'm not exactly sure what'll happen, but I'm guessing that there will be a large black frame around the animation.
If you still want to do it I can write up instructions.
do you know how to do adb?
Awsome, I'm gonna try it

I believe you're trying to flash it.
That is not how you apply a boot animation.
I've gotten no complaints so far other than slower boot ups on the G1, not sure about the MyTouch since I don't have one to test it myself.

Nope, I'm pushing the file via adb

Perhaps it's your rom? I'm not sure what the problem could. Perhaps it was a bad download, I should have posted the md5 sums or something.

i second that
You can add the wallpaper and boot screen through adb or terminal... You can flash the splash screen through fastboot. Read up on it first before you rush into, but the files should the be the exact same.
WOW very Nice
Theme mergers?
Im currently working on the port of RA's (randumaccess) Umbrella Corporate Phone theme that was originally made for the rc33 roms. Since you have created your own version of RE, I wouldn't mind merging the original with your updated version. I have almost completed a version for CM6. Working on a new launcher.apk, since the original changed since 1.6 roms. Let me know if your interested...
This is sweet, I'm getting kind of tired of the Mytouch 3G boot screen, so I think I'll use the boot screen.
i dont like MetaMorph, do u mind making a flashable zip please?
Unfortunately, the MetaMorph isn't mine. :-/ ...Alls I did was make the boot animation and splash image. as far as the theme and colors go, I used someone elses metamorph, tweaked the colors and saved the file for everyone else to use.
So, needless to say, I can not give permission for the morph, as it's not mine...but if anything else needs to be used elsewhere, have at at! I DO NOT stand in the way of progress.
Is this good to use for the HTC desire?
Apologies for my density, but as you can clearly see, I am a total noob.

Nice work - going to give this a bash when I get home tonight.
Dude, these look really nice. I'm downloading some now and will try them out.
I've tried to make up some bootanimations before, but they never turn out. (actually they were totally F.U.B.A.R. ...but at least I tried...repeatedly...repeatedly... ... ... ... ...
I was wondering if you might share with me how you made these?
(My sanity and) I would be forever grateful.
Peace.

sure, check your pm
@deconfrost
I've just been killing myself trying to do a bootanimation (using yours as a template)...FAIL!!!
Then, just now, I saw the PM you sent me.
I think I did everything you prescribed, but still....FAIL!!!
I've attached the file and wonder if you could take a look at it and maybe see where I've gone wrong.

I use Animation Shop to convert them to gif and GIFFrame to extract the individual frames
eternal-inten,
downloading your file, I will have a look in a bit, whats wrong with it?
edit : I extracted the files, all look fine. repacked your zip file with compression method "STORE" and it all works fine, plays a little slow but works just play with the value in desc.txt to get the speed you want
@ deconfrost
Thank you for checking the file.
However, I thought I did pack it as "STORE". ???
Using 7zip, in "Add to archive" I chose ZIP then STORE.
What app do you use to create the zip file?
And one last question ...
Do you have any tips on image/frame selection and/or tweaking the desc.text to help it play smoothly?
Thanks again for all the help.
Peace.
Yaay. The ICS boot animation hypnotizes you every time again you boot your phone.
Installation
Step 1
Get S-Off, and root is useful too.
Step 2
Download the file attatched to this post.
Step 3
If you have a Sense ROM, the bootanimation's location is in /system/customize/resource
Browse there
Step 4
Replace with the current bootanimation
Most bootanimations' name is just bootanimation.zip but some ROMs have htc_bootanimation.zip. In that case, you need to rename it.
Step 5
Reboot and enjoy!

I think this animation is to hard for our phones.
Its verry choppy thill it gets fully loaded and then it stays only few seconds when phone loads...
I prefer less demanding ones...
Funny thing is I will probably have to add this to the ics port I'm doing as at the moment its just got the old android logo.

For those who have a non sense ROM the bootanimation.zip file should be located in /system/media
Hopefully this info helps you make it smoother:
Im using an HTC Wildfire S A510A with Cyanogenmod 7.2
I accidently removed the launcher and it got stuck in a boot loop
it repeated the animation over again and after the first time it was very smooth
In my WFs (vodafone branded) i have 4 files inside /system/customize/resource/
1. Bootanimation.zip
2. Downanimation.zip
3. VF_Bootanimation.zip
4. VF_Downanimation.zip
The first 2 is the logo of the HTC and the second 2 obviously Vodafone's.
To install this bootanimation which of these i must replace?
If i delete them all 4 and i just copy 2 times the same file bootanimation (your animation) with the names bootanimation.zip and downanimation.zip i will have any problem or not?
The famous BIOS boot has arrived on your GNex, check it out (click the animation for a bigger version, resizing messed it up quite a bit):

Strange can't seem to work on kang's 4.0.3. I was on the optimised nexus boot animation, it reverted back to kang's default animation after I replaced the optimised boot with this one
it's look nice
ok, solved... realize pushing it through via ADB is better than using file explorer, copying pasting >.< thought it's supposed to be the same, but somehow ADB just gives me less problems

Really? I've been trying for two days, thinking it's a temp glitch.
It must be being blocked by one of my antivirus proggys.
Anyways, I got it now. Thanks!
I ran the generic bios boot screen on my Captivate. It's good to see a device specific bios boot animation for the Gnex!

Run Only Once
This might be a noob question, so bear with me. Is it possible to make boot animations run only once? It doesn't make sense to me for a BIOS bootscreen to loop XD
EDIT: NVM! Did a quick google search and found that you can adjust the speed, pause times, and loop count by editing the desc.txt file.
SRY, DID NOT MAKE THAT UPDATE YET, I JUST MADE THE GRAPHICS BETTER

use an application like Root explorer to simply paste the bootanimation.zip in your /system/media folder
AND to change your boot screen (the picture before your boot anim)
use SGS2 BootScreen Changer by Hellcat
to make the picture below your boot screen
(you might have to crop it using the same tool above)
