wired tether 1.4
I am trying to get wired tether to work. I deleted libnativetask.so from /system/lib.
That got rid of the forced close problem. Now it starts fine and my laptop connect and gets an ip address. the problem I am having is that windows 7 says no internet access. I want to use this one cause i want to charge while i am tethered to 4G. Can anyone help?
Try wirelessly to see if its the phone or the computer causing the problem. I dont have windows (dont hate) so I cant help you there but the tethering works fine with me and I didn't have to delete any files.
I tested 3g and 4g on wireless tether and they both work fine.
So are you trying to use wired tethering on 3g or 4g? I am running latest myn rom and am able to get it working on 4g, but not 3g.
Here is the guide I used (and also wrote), but it sounds like you have already done what is suggested there... so I'm a bit at a loss. I would just try deleting and reinstalling the app.
I use google usb tether for 4g. Stock does nor seem ro work
you are right. i tested it on 4g and it works. That is weird. I can't get it to work for 3g.

So I am running baked snack with 1.39 radio. When I start the wireless tether it can connect to my laptop but it doesn't seem to connect to my friends iphone. It says its connected but doesn't load up the internet. Anyone have this problem or solution to it?
Or can someone direct me to how I can downgrade to 1.36?
I think that it's currently running in ad-hoc mode and that's why your laptop works but the iphone does not. Just a guess though.
Note to state the obvious.. but thats an iphone netelworking issue, not ur evo
*This was posted from my Evo 4G*
was just curious i just updated to valek 3.0 and loving it. and its the frist rom ive used with print usb tether and hotspot unlocked. when i have sprints usb on i cant connect to 4g network it scans and reconnects. but when i use easytether 4g is fine. is sprints tether only 3g or whats the deal with that. anyone know a work around to get 4g working or am just stuck with easytether or something.
just curious i wanted to try out sprints tether before i bought easy tether or PDAnet.

Stock Hotspot
This is a known issue, and I don't think anyone has come out with a fix for it yet.
The Vaelpak version of WiFi Tether works flawlessly on Ricsims Stock Turbo 3.70 however, and it is basically the same version of your ROM without the Vaelpak theme.
No need to purchase PDAnet or easy tether.
thanks for the reply i use this as my main internet connection at home through my desktop and dont have a wifi usb dongle paying for one would be just like paying for pdanet so i just use usb tether but ive used up my pdanet "trial" lol and easytether just doesnt seem as good so just wanted to try out the stock sprint usb tether but if i cant get 3g then maybe ill buy pdanet.
again thanks for the reply
Hey Gang-
Current set up. Unrevoked, running Caulkin's ROM.
After exploring the great features of my ROM, I wanted to try out the Wireless Tether app. After trying again and again and playing with the settings, I was able to get my laptop to connect to the Evo but could not get a connection to any website.
This evening, I removed and re-loaded the app directly from the developer's website, still having the same problem. As far as I can tell, I can connect to the Evo via my laptop but I don't seem to be getting a connection to any websites. The data stream log shows some activity.
Any suggestions?
Hrm mine stopped working as well. Nothing will connect to it since Saturday. I've turned off encryption and access control (which both worked till saturday) and no dice. I've tried 3 versions of it and no go
I've not changed Anything else since then that would mess with tether. Im running Azreal 3.0 which seems to enable the official sprint hotspot and THAT connects just fine tho I'm worried I might get charged since my accounts not provisioned for it.
Anyone else have issues with the android tether lately?
I am running MikFroyo 4.4 rom and have had no issues with either Wireless Tether or Sprint Hotspot wireless tethering. On some other roms I have used I have had to turn Wireless tethering off and on a couple of times before my laptop fully connected with the internet. And as far as Sprint charging you, unless you are downloading a ton of crap constantly chances are you will go by unnoticed.
all you have to do is not use it.. mine did the same today
i just went to the market and downloaded barnicle wireless tether
its actually a bit fater and works the same.
I cannot get the USB Tethering native to CM7 (7.0.2.1 on Evo) to work with my Mac (10.6).
Does anyone know how to get them to play nice?
My Growl hardware notifier shows 'Android modem' as a new device ... but it does not appear in network prefs or anywhere else.
Thanks!
Download "wired tether" from the market. Can't say it'll work with your mac, but I can't get the built in (cm7) usb tethering to work either.
I am on my MacBookPro right now, using the WiFi tether built into CM7. When my battery gets low, I just plug it into the usb port to charge, but leave it on Wireless tether. Works like a charm. Now, if only I had 4G coverage.
The Sprint "tweaked" WiFi tether on Deck's AOSP ROM works fine on my GF's MacBook Pro.....
I have no problem with WiFi tethering ... just wanted to use USB.
But from the fairly extensive searching I've done, it seems to be impossible, because Mac doesn't support something called RNDIS (which the 'wired tether' app requires as well.)
Oh, well...
Needless to say I have a Dinc2, running Gingerbang Sense latest. Can't seem to get wifi tether working right. I installed wireless tether for root users and can't connect with my laptop, transformer, or friend's iPhone 4. None of the devices will grab an IP address.
What do I need to do to make this work?

I had this issue with the newer wifi tether and had to go back to "wireless tether for root users" version 2.0.8-pre1. Different versions yield different results, but it works fine for me now on MIUI and Tiamat kernel. Which version are you running?
i installed a different kernel and wifi tether 2.0.7 and it works fine now.
Thank you.
