Yeh its stock ecalir, but its not the most up to date. Go to development, one to the sticky up top that says *official* x.x.x.dk28.tar.md5.....in there you'll see the di18 file use that in the pda slot.

If (s)he flashed back to stock eclair (dg27), shouldn't the update to DI18 come OTA?
I odined from dg17 to dg27 and once I booted I got ota update to di17. Had to odin up to di18

The latest update for the Epic Touch is launching today(12/7). Some people are already getting the OTA.
The first member who gets the update please post it
Thanks
That's the best news I've heard since earlier....(facepalm)
The bummer is we already have it so until there's a .tar we will still have the modem issue

I think jmejiaa from the other thread has received the update. I have already asked him to post the update.

So if you are on a custom ROM, will the update push / prompt? Or do you have to go back to stock?
Does it matter if the custom ROM is EG30 or EK02 based?

Oh no, I don't have it. Sorry if it seemed like I did.
I'd be glad to grab the update if I am pointed towards some instructions on how to do that. My phone is not rooted it that matters.

Question: I'm rooted and on Calkulin's Rom. Should I accept OTA update when I receive it?
Does this Unroot or brick my phone?
Will I still get the update even if I did the qbking manual update? 100% stock not rooted.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
I think the bottom line is, if you have anything but stock EG30 on your phone (ROM, kernel and modem) the update will download but the install will fail. I doubt it will brick your phone as the update probably does version checks before it starts the install process.
Same goes for people with the EG31 modem. You folks will have to wait for a TAR leak.

theres no proof of that eg31 was provided by a sprint tester so that would mean his phone wouldnt take the ota either? we will just have to wait and see! but you do have to be on a stock not rooted phone and currently the only way to get back to completely stocl is with the eg31 tar
So im guessing a factory restore odin of eg30 is in order.

Yea we'll just have to wait it out then and stick w/ stock kernels for now. So far i haven't gotten a single LOS since flashing it. It's def a bummer tho, I wanna go back to those fancy kernels.
ok so i was gonna delete this.. but im getting really confused..
i got the full el30 update
rooted
flashed the el30 kernel
and everything was working perfect
later i tried flashing thunderhawk
it finished installing pretty quick
and then i got stuck at boot up
flashed cm7 and got an "installation aborted" msg
restored a backup of thunderhawk on ei22
and it worked and i had the el30 modem
so i went to cwm and factory reseted it cuz i ddint want the whole settings of it all and my desktop and apps and stuff
then i got stuck at bootup again
i restored my backup again and its working now i have thunderhawk on the el30 modem
my question is basically do any roms work on el30??
why does my back up restore and work but when i flash a new rom it doesnt work???
Maybe bad downloads? Did you try Factory Data Reset and then immediately flash the ROM?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
well this file has been on my sd card since I first flashed thunderhawk so it should work but it is a possibility..
Ill try again
But ei22 roms do work on el30 right??

Yeah but once you do that and install your ROM, you are completely EI22 again except for the modem. For that you can restore your backup and just flash the modem delta.

Yeah, they are pretty much over us. I read somewhere they were just trying to get paid membership from us. Appreciate what they did in the past but that relationship is over apparently. Also check their site. They never got an official released tar. Closest was EB13. We will need Samsung to release it.
OK so a new question why is Samsung reluctant to release the tar? Are they required to under like the open source license for android or are those not even related?

I believe Sprint has control over when the tar can be posted. Samsung did their open source obligation with the kernel source. Sprint are the ones that told Samsung no more over the wire releases after the EB13 debacle.

EI22 /w EC05 modem Tar
I have this tar I downloaded from the dev section sometime ago.
You can Odin it and then flash the EC05 -> EI22 modem.
I can put it on a hosting site if you'd like
edit: it is pre-rooted as well.
Sure that would be great

That isn't the one I have; I didn't find that when I searched either. Thanks for the assist.
Those are not pre-rooted.
as an alternative this one is pre-rooted if you're wanting to get back to BML and flash a ROM: (toadlife created this tar as well)
here is a link for the tar http://min.us/mWuL5XjVm
You'll want to update the recovery afterwards too.
get that from here

if you want to swap out modems to EI22 or EL30.
You can go here for flashable zips:

What is the best way to get back to a stock rom from a phone flashed with CleanGB v1.1.2[MTD]?

@masaidjet - Sadly I was not the one that flashed it to begin with, but I'm the one tasked to fix it.
@Big Goron - that is what I was looking for, think I can take it from here but will gt in touch if I have questions/issues.

Hopefully we will get AoSP ICS so I won't need the touchwiz ugly version. (unless, however, it's the new tw that comes with GS3 )
