[Q] Help Me uninstall gingerbread theme - Epic 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can someone please tell me how I can uninstall the gingerbread theme from my epic 4g? I installed it, and at first I received a bunch of force closes, and then when I proceeded to turn the phone off, and back on again, I got nothing but a blank screen. Any suggestions?

No. just wipe cache and dalvik no need to wipe data unless switching roms
Sent From Da Hood.

If you have already flashed the theme then the framework is there... clearing the dalvik and cache will only bring it back not uninstall it.

Bottom of my themes list is the stock theme/framework, flash this and clear your dalvik and you'll save your rom and settings. Bringing you back to stock.

its a zip file and i tried to go thru the manager like i did my elite hd theme but it didnt work..
Older miui version have issues with theme manager. I tried 3 and worked only on one of them (beleive last pne but not sure). Theme must be .tmz or .tzm -,not zip and does NOT install with flashing like sense.

i got it to work.....I appreciate the help!!
Just for future reference, it never hurts to clear your cache or dalvik. I do it whenever I flash anything...or sometimes just because it's been a month since I have rebooted.
is there any benefit to clearing your cache or dalvik after deleting anything from the sdcard?
or should this be done regularly?
Just curious.
Thanks.

Here's the way I think of it...some flashable things require it (and usually say somewhere), but you don't HAVE to do it if your phone is operating normal, and your not flashing anything...BUT, it never hurts to...and the rest is me just being anal.

Do i need to wipe before flashing a diff. font?

Iam running myn's warm rls5. I want to change my fonts and iam not sure if i need to wipe cache, data and dalvik before i flash this new font. It says to "flash these just like how you flash roms" but it dont say anything about wiping.
just the dalvik and cache, piece of cake.
just a heads up, but some of them will cause bootloops and i haven't figured out how to tell yet. For instance, "fontin" worked on every sense 2.2 but bootloops aosp 2.3. make a backup
So why only the cach and dalvik and not the data. Can anybody tell me what each thing does and why you need to wipe. Thanks!

no you do not have to wipe anything. Just flash and enjoy
Iam confused now. Someone is saying to wipe and the other is saying not too. Is there a forum that explains it.

Theoretically you don't have to wipe anything when flashing a font because all it does is change a few files in the font folder. However, I always wipe cache and dalvik when flashing any mod just to be on the safe side.

And always backup before flashing as said before. If everything is fine after flashing then you can just delete that nandroid if you want to free up memory on your sd. But like stated, it doesn't matter what you are flashing, things may not always go right.

And never wipe data unless you're flashing a rom. Wiping data will wipe all of your apps & such. When flashing themes, kernels, mods, fonts, apps, etc only wipe cache & dalvik cache.
Ok...i understand now. Iam guna backup then wipe cache and delvik before i flash. Thanks to everyone who replied back.

You do not need to wipe anything for fonts, i never have. I flashed font only from this thread below. Flash till you find the one you like...

What ROMs have you tried??
Sent from my Mikrunny'd Superphone using Magic (TapaTalk)
well lets see, i noticed it first on BAMF skyraider zeus, then i moved over to Virtuous Unity, same thing, then i tried Virtuous Affinity, and all of these with several different mod/themes that suppose to get rid of it. Next was PVTeam runnydroid V5.0, one of Newts roms was in there somewhere with several of the flashable themes for his rom, and right now it is the newest version of Coredroid... i have tried everything, and absolutely nothing will get rid of it. its not that i want it gone that bad i just want to know why i cant get rid of it.
ive noticed also that whatever background i had before flashing a new rom, even after formatting cache, data, and system, then doing wipe data and factory reset and wiping cache partition, the new rom always flashes with the old background.

Part of that is during your backup.

[Q] epic 4g with cm7 2.3.7 cannot access gmail!

I have just installed cm7 onto my epic 4g. I have been trying to get the stock apps, ie gmail, market, etc.. I love the rom but I guess it didn't come with the bloat ware.. is there anyway to get them? I cannot add a gmail account either, server won't respond.

Don't the instructions mention to flash the gapps? I remember reading that when I installed it. I know there is only a google search link for gapps now. Gapps as in Google Apps.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
So I'm using ROM manager and it has the gapps listed however after it finishes I get the options to "Back Up ROM, Wipe Data and Cache and Wipe Dalvik Cache". Is this the proper way to get these apps to work? If so, which option would I choose? I am kinda a noob to roms so this is a little confusing for me.

If you want to backup the ROM then fine, otherwise wipes are not even required. I don't wipe at each upgrade at all. It never hurts anything to wipe Dalvik and cache and can only help.

Ok so I had attempted to back up my ROM however it froze so I had taken the batterie out and now I cannt get into recovery mode at all, it just goes back to that frozen screen where it was attempting to back up the ROM. Any ideas how I can fix that?

So I fixed that but now when I use the market, no app will download due to an unknown error.. any ideas?

Try clearing data in the market app. Use Titanium.

Bootloop after Jedi Mind Trick 3 Install
Performed a full system wipe - Factory Reset/Data Wipe, format /system, Wipe Dalvik Cache - using CWM. Flashed ROM, Fixed Permissions, then rebooted. Waited 10 minutes (actually more like 20 minutes) but was stuck in a bootloop. The loading bar almost completely fills in each time (only a small fraction - i.e. about 0.5mm - remains unfilled) before the reboot occurs automatically. I read else where on the SGH-T989 forum of similar problems with 2.0. Someone said that wiping the data caches before AND after flashing the ROM always works for them. I assume they mean format /data cache and Wipe Dalvik Cache after flashing ROM but I'm not sure. Anyone have any experience here?

Don't hijack ariana's thread.
If you used anything but jamisons wipes that's your problem.

Thanks. I found the darkside wipe files and downloaded them. Then I read elsewhere that if you have the up-to-date CWM version (6 or later), it will do the same thing accomplished by the darkside wipes. Do you know if this is a fact? Thanks again.

It may work as long as you choose to not wipe the preload. I wouldn't chance it tho...just use jamisons wipes.
