I need to turn off the beep that occurs when certain actions take place such as;
Low battery
Removing/ inserting USB cable
There maybe other actions I'm not thinking of..if anyone knows of others, please post
I would like to turn off these beeps without putting the phone on silent. This is especially important when these beeps occur while wearing headphones, as the beep goes off what seems to be max volume, which I'm sure will cause me to go deaf with continued use! Any ideas anyone?

I was just about to post the same issue. I particularily detest the beep when I connect the USB cable, which I sometimes do when my wife is asleep, and the beep is quite disturbing. Also, when I pull out the USB after charging, the display is auomatically - and annoyingly - lit.
You can fix it - just put new ringtones, that what I do, and is better than before.
Note: You must root your phone!
? we just want to remove the usb connect notification...?
----- ^^new ringtone can't do anything for this ... :=)
any ideaS?

I don't know how to keep the display dark, sorry.
However, if you turn your phone to vibra or silent mode, at least the beep is not played. The phone will still vibrate once when pugged in and out, but it is less annoying.
maybe.. someday.. somehow...

but yes, especially with your wife sleeping.. a good suggestion :=)
Maybe (i also contacted Motorola) there will be an solution soon.
I sent them a mail with bugs / features / problems i discovered over the last weeks using the DEFY. From basic things which dont work (like this) to other "problems" ... and as response (the support is really good - less than 24hours for an answer) i got told that there'll be an maintenance update very soon.
so hopefully :=) *thumbsUp* :=) (and your wife can sleep without being disturbed :=)) - area europe / austria

WHen I'm driving my car at night the flashing lights, on my Blue Angel are very off putting.
If it possible to disable the Blue (Blue tooth LED) and Green signal LED, but still have Blue tooth and us the phone?
To turn off the Blue LED from coming on with Bluetooth go to:
1. Hkey_Local_Machine/Drivers/Builtin/BWLEDMGR
1a. Change the Index value below it to "0" it is currently set to "1
Soft Reset and the Blue LED will not turn on.
Here is a revised procedure for turning the Green LED off. Cabrio came up with this.
2. To keep the Green LED from flashing or coming on at all go to
Hkey_Local_Machine/Drivers/Builtin/NLEDMGR leave the dll name as NLEDMgr.dll
2a. Change the Index value below it to "0" it is currently set to "1".
This seems to completely shut off the LED and keeps it from getting called up.
Make sure you soft reset after making the reg. change.
Do this at your own risk.
I am working on a proggie that will allow you to turn off the LEDs at will, and also turn them back on.
Stay tuned...
OMG the *flashing* is so annoying.
It can be on or off (I dont care) just wtf does it have to flash?
Agreed in the strongest way. LEDs as OEM have delivered the device are terrible. I don't like to sleep with a police car in my room! LED should be entirely user conifigurable as to what solid or blinking means or if they are used at all. The registry changes above seem to work fine for me. It would be ineresting to know what other values for these registry entries do (if anything)
Any new info on this subject?
The only ones who like it in my house are my cats, and i like me sleep to much to let it continue
Yes if you change the Registery Settings, as described above it all works
One solution:
Use tweaks2k2.Best software having abt 92 safe and reliable registry tweaks. It has the option of turning on/off leds, also increasing the keyboard light time

thanks! you forgot to mention the link to the program

hey happygoat, hows ur program coming along?
Actually this technique listed (registry hack) only partially works.
I noticed to my rather large annoyance that it started flashing again while I was sleeping. There are other times when its start flashing as well, eg if you disconnect ActiveSync in progress.
This is unbelievable! Removing the LEDs cut my time to connect to the WLAN from turn on in half, from 12 to 6 seconds! Most of it seems to be that it starts connection attempts almost at once. Also the range is improved! Anybody know how this is possible?

has anyone tested the battery life?
Not me. That's not one of my concerns. But I can say that the unit is also a lot more responsive when turned on. It has annoyed me that the first 5-10 seconds I couldn't do much with it. Now it's ready for use at once! This one is the best tweak I have seen so far.

I definately think its coincidence. Anyway its easy to test, just change the registry back and do a timed test.
I wish i could... I can get the GPRS LED light up again, but the BT LED is dead no matter what I do. Anyway, I did at least 20 tests two days ago (before I changed the LED thing yesterday, because of another thread I started here about long connection times), and it was around 12 seconds every time. Now it's around 6 every time, and I haven't made any other changes to the unit.
For the love of god how do I turn this flashing light off???

I believe that you are talking about Notifications. Well, that's a LED that works different. It's easy to turn off but it will go on the next time you have any notification event. BTW, I believe that in Sounds and Notifications in settings you can turn off this LED in some events.
I could give you a little program that I did form my internal use so you can check what I'm talking about (Notification LED going ON in any notification event no matter if it has been turned off by any other external program).

Got a bit of a weird problem, all of a sudden my DHD keeps on activating the speaker phone every time i answer a call on it.
It never used to do this and i'm bamboozled by what's causing this. I've tried turning off the flip over phone to activate speaker mode and it's still doing this.
Looked through all the settings with no clue what has changed.
Tested it 6 times today using the house phone and it activates if you slide to answer or press the green answer button so it's not like i'm hitting it accidentally.

same here..googling for an answer now :S
found something? got the same problem
My HTC Inspire started doing the same thing today. Kinda weird, as i haven't changed any setting or added / removed anything for a few days
You may have flip for speaker switched on. Go to Settings>Sound and then under Incoming Calls uncheck the option for Flip for Speaker.
Did you make your DHD wet somehow?
I pour some coke on my Desire and it started to activate the speaker for calls as default. I have started to use Sanity app from Market to force it not to use speaker.
After a few days I have removed the app and everything is fine since then. The coke has been dried out I guess.
Try Sanity.
just a question, but do u have the 'callrecorder' app?
or anything like that?
i had a similiar problem, in my case it was made by car mode.
the phone "knows" that is plugged in a car dock cause it makes a intentional short in micro usb port... one of the features of car mode is always turn on speaker.
sometimes that short happens even without car dock (that was my case).
i solve it by cleaning the port with a really tiny pin and isopropyl alcohol... you can test it by touching a pin in some contacts of the port...

Anyone fix this yet cos my dhd has just started this, I've turned off the car panel thing and I've cleaned all the fluff out of the USB port but it's still on speaker phone. It seems to have started after I charged it up in my van with a car charger. Any idea's cos this is doing my nut in.
Have the same problem. Rebooting the phone fixes it for me. The problem starts again every time I turn the speaker on.

I think it's not a hardware fault or software issue, the phone's screen automatically lock when you place the phone near the ear, they use proximity sensor for auto turn off the screen. When something block the sensor signals it turns the screen off. But sometimes when we call someone and if our head or ear not close enough to block those signals display won't turn off and buttons are remain active, so if our face touch the screen (loud speaker button) it turns on the loud speaker. That's what happen I guess, because it happen also for me most of the time

Hi.
I had the same problem. I found out that I had the HTC navigation app running in the background. This made the phone turn on the speaker on incoming calls.
J
do you know how to uninstall this stupid app its driving me mad, keeps starting up automatically the navigation head wrecking to say the least
So I've searched everywhere and I haven't seen anything for this issue. Even though all the settings are correct and i have vibrate checked in the messages app, my phone won't vibrate for notifications like text messages all the time. Sometimes it will vibrate and sometimes it won't. So my phone will be in my pocket and I'll check it 30 minutes later and see 3 or 4 texts but it never vibrated. I exchanged my phone and am having the same issues. Everything is stock. Has anyone had this problem?
the phone vibrates, it just does it too softly for you to feel it... that's the problem with light phones, the original epic 4g could cause an earthquake but that's because it was gigantic, I never felt the epic 4g touch, and this one I feel it at times...

no it definitely doesn't vibrate. I've set it on the table and texted it and it'll vibrate on every 10th text or so. usually it'll just light up for the notification but it won't vibrate.

menu/settings/sound...........make sure sound and vibration are checked. that is the default for the entire phone even if vibration is enabled in messaging. also make sure your vibration intensity is all the way up.

Yes that's already been checked and vibration intensity is all the way up. The phone does vibrate on some texts, but not most, which is what the problem is.
I've noticed it'll vibrate normally when the screen is on and I get a text, but it won't when the screen is off?
I've definitely seen bugs in phones in which things like notification LEDs didn't work when the phone was in sleep mode. Whaddya know, I recall one of them being a Samsung (Intrepid). Granted it was years ago and Windows Mobile 6.5, but whoever was coding notification and power management back then wasn't fully aware of the point of "notifications".
Then again I just sent myself a test to the Note 2 while the screen was off... phone vibrated, screen turned on briefly (I hate that), blue light started blinking, heard my notification sound, and screen turned back off.
So there's something interfering with your phone's ability to wake up while it is trying to notify you. Have you done any power management modifications or installed anything designed to save battery power?

I haven't changed any power management settings or downloaded any apps designed to save power. I've tried factory resets several times. The phone will vibrate for texts but after about 30 minutes or so goes back to not vibrating. I've called samsung and taken it to the sprint store and no one can figure it out. I first thought the motions was causing te problems but it still doesn't vibrate when those are off. I'm completely out of ideas.
EDIT: I may have figured it out, if I turn on "Wake up in lock screen" in the settings in S Voice, the phone stops vibrating on texts. When I turn it off, the phone vibrates again. Toggled it on and off and the changes were immediate. Does anyone else have this problem??
I noticed on my Verizon G3 the other night that after the battery reaches 100% that the phone then continues to notify you with a vibration and a tone about every 10 seconds.. very annoying. Clearing the notification does not make it go away.. the only thing you can do is unplug. This is very annoying especially if you're like me and leave your phone charging all night long. It also turns the screen on for a few seconds every time the notification goes off.
I checked my wife's Sprint model and noticed she doesn't have this problem. Anyone else notice this and what model do you have? ...and have you found a solution?
For now I've been keeping my phone in a drawer so it doesn't wake me but Im thinking about putting it on an outlet with a timer.. Im assuming because this is not an AMOLED screen that we do not have to worry about screen burn in? or do we?
I've submitted a request to @P_Toti to hopefully get a mod to disable this using the G3 TweaksBox app.
My T-Mobile D851 does the same crap. So annoying.
Weird. My T-Mobile version doesn't do that.
That is strange.
If it helps.. I'm completely stock except for root and Xposed used to change the battery icon, alarm icon removed and I'm using a custom nav bar theme (Android L softkeys)
I'm completely stock.
Does it still do,it if the phone is on silent?

Light Manager is for the notification light. Whats happening is the phone vibrates, makes a tone, and turns the screen on every 10 seconds or so.
I noticed last night that it does eventually stop notifying after a while.. I think. I plugged in around 11pm.. some time around 4am it woke me up, I continued to monitor the notification trigger every ~10 seconds for about an hour.. I finally put it in the drawer so I can get some sleep.. when I woke up around 9am I noticed it was no longer notifying me every ~10 seconds that the battery was charged. So I'm not sure what's going on. I have my Verizon model and my wife's Sprint model (which doesn't have this problem) both using the same type of usb cable, charger and wall outlet so I know its not a low power issue coming from the charger.

My guess for the multiple notifications - it charges to full, vibrates and beeps to let you know the battery is full, which lowers the battery just a tad...and it recharges 10 seconds later, once again vibrating and beeping, which again lowers the battery...lather, rinse, repeat.
My G3 does it as well - irritating as hell. Even in silent mode it briefly turns on the screen when it reaches fully charged. I woke up last night to find my G3 turning on and off in a 2-second loop. The screen was like a slow-motion strobe light.
I hope someone finds a way to turn off the stupid battery charged notifications...
Mine does this too. Woke me up last night. I'd like to know how to make it stop besides throwing it on silent and turning it upside down.
So I just noticed last night that putting the phone on quite mode or silent works.. not sure why I didnt try that before.. guess it was because someone mentioned earlier that it didnt work for them. So thats my solution for now.. still would like to see some kind of Xposed mod for this.
Putting on silent isn't a good solution. What if there is a family emergency, etc. Some people are on call and cant do this either. I really cant believe LG implemented this without the option to disable it.
Would be great to identify what service is controlling that and maybe removing or blocking it under root mode.

Not silent but quite mode..it allows you to toggle on/off for notifications, calls and notification light. You can also set a white list for allowed contacts in case of emergency.
I rooted and found [ /system/media/audio/FullBattery.ogg ] and renamed this audio file. It'll still vibrate, but no sound now. When you long press the notification, it says its part of "System UI" so it looks like its not easily removable.
Well, that didn't work either.
This appears to be the only solution:

This partially works. I don't get the notification or the sound, but it still vibrates. I'm going to play around more with this later this week when I have time.
Same issue
Same issue occurs for me, so I just wake up and unplug the phone when I get that message. Very annoying though, to not wake up with a full battery.
This is so annoying, can't believe LG didn't include an option to turn this off. So many of us leave our phones on the charger overnight - so we end up with frequent beeps and vibrations as it charges to 100%, then partially discharges and charges again a few minutes later
Silent mode or quiet mode isn't an option as I need to be able to receive calls for work - I can't whitelist every number that might call me
I've switched from Barebone ROM to CM and have encountered two strange "issues" with sound and battery charging problem.
1. Is there any way to volume of in app sounds? For example in Facebook app sound then I press "Like" button is too loud, and only way to silence it is to set your Ring volume lower. Maybe is there some way to force sound control of this app to use Media volume, or something different? Because I like to keep my Ring volume at max at all times.
2. I use Poweramp to listen to music. It pauses if someone calls me or messages me. But in CM it autopauses if I hit like button in FB app (maybe it thinks it's a call, if "like" volume is only adjustable by Call volume...). It's quite annoying to be honest. Can I somehow make make player autopause only when ringtone/message tone is played?
About battery now.
I've got charging problem. ~4 of 5 times battery won't charge. It gives me error message ( http://imgur.com/UBfhJCr) even icon in status bar shows its charging - but it isn't. It happens on stock quick charge wall adapter with stock USB cable. Strange thing is that it works sometimes, sometimes it doesn't. I have no idea why. For now I just keep restating phone till it finally starts to charge. And, by the way, it stops charging at 87% last time and now it stopped on 43%. Rebboting seems not helping to start charging again. LED switches off and phone seems to act like charger isn't even plugged in. I've found similar issue being discussed on CM forums, but only real answer here was to reboot device (which for now isn't working for me). Has anyone experienced similar issues?
Update:
So my phone died on me on work. It wasn't charging even in bootloader mode. After turning it off and plugging in charger screen showed big battery icon, later on small battery icon with percentage inside (in my case 1%). But after ~10seconds screen and LED switched off and phone wasn't charging (tried to charge like this for 3 hours, still 1%).
So after returning home I plugged it in USB connected to PC and it's charging! I also plugged my LG G2 mini into same genuine Asus wall adapted I used and it's also charging... So charger isn't broken, nor phones charging port... Now I'm out of ideas why Asus charger stopped charging my Zenfone.

There's an option in settings > sounds (I believe) to link notification and ringtone volume, maybe that has something to do with it?

Try charging your Zenfone with the LG charger. If that works, it's likely that the quick charge part of the ASUS charger or your Zenfone isn't working correctly. Try reflashing CM or go back to stock ROM and see if it charges with the ASUS charger then.
