Hey guys! lol
-My mytouch slide suddenly has extremely low volume placing/durin a call.
It's so low, I have to put speaker.
-I also have noticed that sometimes i have to press the mute key so i can hear the other person cuz the phone was already muted b4 placing a call.. 0_o ??
This all happened after I did a couple of things.. idk what might have done it..
1) I cleared cache
a) Recovery, clear cache
b)
Code:
su
cd data/dalvik-cache
rm *
exit
2) I upgraded to cyanogen 6.1.1 and it just either wouldnt boot, or would go past the "Google sign-in" screen.
So I did a nandroid re-store to 6.1.0
Anyhow, the volume is ULTRA slow.
How can I fix this??

Yea, but last time Rom manager downloaded it and applied it for me, the phone woulnt boot.. like rarely. It would just sit on the "Tmobile" screen.
Then I got it to work, flashed the google apps and the sign-in screen would tell me "tap the android"
And I did a billion times, but nothing would happen.. he would just light up.
Idk, I'm scared of 6.1.1 now lol

Possible hardware issue? Try the stock rom and see how it goes

hey! I have a suggestion, have you tried using headphones during a call to see if it sounds better? figured if its a software issue it would affect the output via headphones too right? if its the hardware ear piece on the phone then the headphones will sound loud and clear

Yeah I'd suggest you call T-Mobile, but perhaps before you do.. you should try flashing to the stock ROM of expresso just to make sure it isn't CM related if you haven't tried that, oh and yeah, I found it much easier to just ask a T-Mobile rep via online chat for a replacement to be send to you, and if they ask you to go in store to get it checked out say that isn't an option due to work.... unless you want to go in store, either way though just try flashing it to the stock expresso ROM before you make a big hassle.

I noticed this earlier today and it's driving me NUTS!! Various system sounds (so far I've found the dialing tone, lock/unlock click, and default keyboard sounds) all of a sudden are practically inaudible. I can hear them but only if I hold the speaker up to my ear while dialing, typing, etc. All volume levels are turned up all the way like I always have them, what gives?!? I'm very confused by this...
Possibly blown speakers? Have you tried music?
Swyped from my sexy EVO.
are you sure your system volume is up? You can check it with Audio Manager.
Uhh yeah like I said, all volume levels are ALL the way up.
Nope not blown as ringtones, etc. come through the speaker just fine.
You running stock? Try a reset/clean flash?
Yes everything is stock and I'm trying to avoid the obvious (resetting the phone)
Are all of these things y'all have suggested not obvious to the average user? I don't mean to be rude in the least but I always try several things to fix an issue before I seek out help...

haha. you may be surprised sometimes Always got to cover all the bases.
I have no idea what's causing you issues, but I experience something sort of simlar, and have yet to figure it out. I don't use any audio feedback or lockscreen unlock sounds or anything like that. My ringer and notifications always work fine. The thing for me that is odd, is my boot animation sound. No matter what sound I use, it plays halfway through EXTREMELY loud, and then it suddenly cuts to about 1/3 the volume that it started playing at. It's random, and doesn't happen every time, but definitely enough for me to notice. I have no idea what causes it, but wouldn't be surprised if it's the same type of issue.
Download an app called audio manager. Your system volume got stuck down and won't go up without that type of app, since we cannot change it in settings.

+1 same thing happened to me and that was the only way i could fix it
AudioManager allows you to change the system sound settings, which is otherwise impossible via the standard Android interface. That solved my problem.
I bought a G2 second hand a few months ago and it's served faithfully, but I think by using a belt pouch with a magnetic closure hosed it up - if not, then the timing is one hell of a coincidence as these both started right at about the same time.
First problem - car home keeps popping up. I've been able to disable it, but if the G2 is like many other phones, it uses a magnet to sense whether or not it's in a car dock.
Second problem - speaker phone. The phone defaults to the speaker phone when I place a call or answer one, leaving me to have to turn off the speaker in favor of the earpiece.
It's not ROM specific - I've tried various ROMs in an attempt to remedy but I think the damage is done.
Any thoughts? Am I completely off in left field here?
Edit - 5/17
Issue resolved by performing a SuperWipe and then reinstalling ROM!
I had the same issue. Couldn't figure out how to fix it other than using titanium backup to uninstall car home.

This has been happening on my Epic 4G for awhile now and it's really frustrating. I'm pretty sure this hasn't been happening the whole time I've owned the phone, but at this point it's hard to really remmber.
Basically, when I make or receive a call, within a couple\few minutes of the phone call the caller suddenly can't hear me - this happens whether it's using the phone normally, in speakerphone mode, or even a headset. As soon as it happens and the other caller starts the "Hello? Are you still there?" I can fix it by toggling the speaker on and off (or off and on) and it fixes it - but it can suddenly start again at anytime...couple of minutes later, five minutes later, etc.
Right now I'm slowly removing apps from my phone after every call this happens on - my goal is to determine if a particualr app is confusing my phone. I don't think it's the ROM or modem I'm using (Frozen 1.2, EC05) as I did a stock flash and flashed to those just recently and others aren't having the same problem. I DID restore some data so if I can't narrow down an app that's causing it, not restoring any data is my next option (but even more time consuming to figure out specifically which data is causing issues).
I'm pretty sure the phone hasn't always done this so I don't want to exchange the phone considering I don't have any other issues and I think this is software, not hardware related. Has anyone experienced anything similar to this?

Yes! Mine started doing this a couple months ago, and I resolve it exactly the same way (though I have to hit the volume button once, either up or down, then toggle speaker on then off). It's definitely not the ROM because I've had it with both Froyo and GB ROMs. Unfortunately, I haven't found any other solution, yet. I'm hoping it will go away with official GB, but I have no real reason to think it will work. I'm going to play around with the Voodoo sound.

you guys shouldn't be having this problem make a backup then odin to ec05 stock and check if you still have the issue if you do just take it to sprint and show the tech your problem they should fix it or get you a replacement phone.
I have the same issue. I am completely stock. It usually happens 10 to 15 minutes into a phone call. I've already called sprint, taken it to a store but only reflashed the os, and I just recently spoke to someone on chat, who said the problem has been solved. If it happens again should I get a replacement phone?

Sadly even after changing modems and making the adjustment in Voodoo Control I still have the same problem. Going to uninstall Voodoo all together and see if that resolves anything.
I just discovered that I'm having the same problem after I Odin'd back to stock EC05 for a different reason. So, EC05 and EC05 modem, and I'm having a problem that I didn't think I was having before I tried EF02.
Could something have been changed that going back to EC05/EC05 modem didn't resolve?

This problem is not generated by Voodoo. I have a stock Epic (rooted) and have never had Voodoo installed on my device and I have intermittently had this problem in the past (haven't seen it for a while, though). My friend has an Epic (never rooted) and also has this problem.
About the only thing I've heard that people have said fixes this is to wipe cache and dalvik and then flash something using Odin. Stock or custom I don't think matters.
As others have noted, uninstalling Voodoo didn't fix it for me. I think what must be causing this is everytime I wipe and install a clean ROM I restore some data through TiBackup and SOMETHING I'm restoring is causing this. Guess I'll just have to wipe and be very careful about what I'm restoring.
This might be completely random, but by chance did other people that experience this problem happen to install NZBAir?
Here is my problem
The problem is that after using my Nexus with headphones, there is no sound through the built-in speaker after unplugging the headphones. Using headphones again does work. Essentially the Droid is stuck in Headphone mode. So the nexus always thinks during a phone call im in headphone mode.
A user TRTG from DF.net made an app called audiotoggle. It dont work as good as I thought it would.
My question is how do you fix this? I asked in the rom section of the rom in using with no answers. Does anyone know what could be wrong? How to fix this?
Have you tried a reboot?

Yes I did a reboot. Also wiped cache and delvik to see if that would help. I have to use audiotoggle to get it to work but its not 100% working. It will allow me to make a call but the sensor dont work so I hit buttons while on the phone. Plus I have to enable the app before making a call or else I have to use speaker phone.
The same thing happened to me. The only thing I could think of was that the popping sound that I would hear every time I rebooted into recovery had blown out the speaker. I had to take it to Verizon and get a new one (again). Since it was my second return they could only send me a certified "like new" device. Now the volume rocker is loose and my battery smells.

Any luck on this? I have the same problem on my Nexus S. Sound seems to be restored only after wiping data, but that's not exactly what I want to do every time I use headphones.
Download android assistant. Go into the settings and go to the volume. If the system volume is all the way down that's your problem. Raise the slider to Max and thank me

99% likely it's a hardware problem. My second warranty replacement had this exact problem, and if I pulled up logcat, I could see it firing HEADSET_PLUGGED events constantly (going from plugged to unplugged). It's not worth fighting for a fix if you're eligible for a replacement, in my opinion -- not that I didn't try it myself.
If you are using Magisk and Lineageos, remove/disable "Audio FX" application which comes with Lineageos.
I used NoBloat Free, since Audio Fx is in system.
Anyone come up with a volume hack for headphones? On the g2 you could edit the mixerpaths file. Im rooted without twrp and tried that and got stuck in a nice bootloop and had to push the stock rom thru adb to get back up. Once i get twrp i can run thru some settings. Just wondering if anyone else is bummed out by this low volume.
I can say my phone don't need volume boost. Phone sounds great. Have to turn it down. Sounds way better than note 3

Partially hijacking this thread, but does anybody know if there's a hidden way to disable the safe volume warning every time I plug in my headset? This is the most annoying thing on this phone, especially if I do a quick travel to n from lunch and work, I have to keep pressing the volume button again n again. I know most likely it's baked into the ROM, but maybe someone knows something.
OP, you sure this is not the problem you're facing? At first I thought I had gone all the way on the volume, but I realized I had to press it again to boost the volume to the max.

2. Open Viper4Android, choose quality, let it install the special driver and allow root. You may need to update busybox, it will prompt you if necessary.
3. Reboot
4. Open V4A, press the 3 dots at top right, change UI to "Moderate"
5. Swipe to "Headphone" tab, enable master power & playback gain control, scroll to bottom of page, change output gain to +0.8 or +1.6

I tried the V4A version and I must say it did make a bit of a difference in sound boost but one of the main things I use the headphones for at times is making phone calls. When I tried to make a call the volume of the call still sounded low. Is anyone else experiencing this? I have Sirius radio installed and you tube and sound on both definitely improved a bit. I wanted to try the other method by modifiying the path files but I heard some issues causing boot loops and it pretty much scared me away. I'm also still trying to figure out how to install TWRP on my LG G3 since I rooted it manually, I can't figure out how to get it on my device. Any help would be appreciated.
EDIT: Finaly got TWRP on my device.
It's not a problem with the phones volume control but with your hearing ability.
I had hearing tests done last year at the clinic and they said I had very good sense of hearing... kind of a weird thing. Anyways, I can get it to about 75% volume and it's extremely loud. Any more than that is painful.
