As the question above, is there any way to protect our sms, such as set a password?
Nope... not at the moment.
Best you can do right now is set a password at the lock-screen.
So we have to wait for a software like Handcent SMS in Android

Obviously, as stated, you can set a password for the phone.
Are trying to allow others to access to your everything on your phone except your sms?

Yes, I mean sometimes my friends can borrow my phone for a little time to play games, listen to music, ... but I don't want them to access my private data such as sms.

Stock Evo Stock txt msg app
Long story short. A friend got blacklisted on a friends Evo by her jealous bf. She cant figure out how to unblock since its asking for a password. Im thinking he must have typed a password, so any way around this?
It's blocked in the phone and not with Sprint? If that's the case then I'm sure a factory reset will do the trick.

Correct, its blocked within the app only.
I honestly had no clue we could even do that. I'm digging through my Evo trying to find that option, not finding it.
Are you 100% sure it's part of the messaging app? Could you tell me how to do it?

Its through the messaging app, its not my phone. Im just trying to help this poor girl In stock app its under settings somewhere, Im running CM6 so cant replicate this.
Have you seen it with your own eyes or are you just relaying info that came from her? I'm digging through this thing and I can't find it anywhere. Also, I don't know why you would need a password to unblock someone on your own evo.
Sounds like Handcent...

Can you block handcent from being seen as an app on the phone?
And could you possibly delete the contact, and just make a new one? (Will that work for sprint blocked and handcent blocked?)
could deleting handset (if found on phone) fix this issue since she doesn't know such password?

Can you, probably. More likely it's the widget she knows to use and doesn't realize it. Walk her into the applications under settings.

Hey guys,
I have SGS2, and I wonder if there is some application that will show me notification when I receive sms on my computer, and I should be able to reply to it from computer too ? I tried "Remote Notifier for Android" from market, and at first glance it looks really nice, but sms notifications doesnt work, and I cant reply to sms via computer aswell. Is there some other app which can do this ?
NOTE: I dont want web-service based apps, that require me to have service started on my phone and to connect through browser from my computer, I want standalone app that communicates with phone through wireless, just like Remote Notifier.
try MightyText.
not sure if it is out of beta yet but it does works. you just need to log in to your gmail account.

True. I guess it is because of the fact you can't 'push' that data to a pc. I believe there's an app needed (like the plugin for the MightyText app) to 'convert' that data to make it 'recognizable' (the data between pc and phone).
Notifications can't be pushed. Only the data itself.
So i believe, what you are looking for, doesn't exist (yet).
Can someone confirm?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
i think yes, it does not exist yet. but many people satisfied with how MightyText works if you follow from the first Beta release. i think many people actually find this type is already convenient so far, instead of how you asked. maybe not yet. you can try PM the dev and state your suggestion/opinion maybe.
Remote Notifier for Android does the exact thing I need, except its stopped developing and some features dont work. I searched yesterday alot to find some similar app, but no success.
@LuffyPSP
I already discussed with one of colleagues, and will start developing it in next few days.
I think MyPhoneExplorer might be able to do what you ask. You might wanna give it a try!
Maybe it can, but MPE requries phone to be connected with USB

I've never had a problem with stock email, I mainly use IMAP but have occasionally set pop. I did however have to go to my email provider settings and tick allow IMAP.
I have used K9 before which seemed OK, not sure how frequently it'll check though

If I'm honest it sounds like somewhere you're entering the wrong settings
I use the stock mail app for my work emails from without issue.
Thing is these pop servers are really sensitive to the ports you try to use and what type of encryption you use etc, get one wrong and it will fail
Have you got another working email client on a pc or something that you can literally just copy the settings from, ports, encryption and all?

Does it give any errors when connecting?
Password definitely correct? Normally greyed out otherwise so I guess there's a slight slight chance that that's wrong? Can you reset it and try again, just to be sure? Unless of course the password you're trying works elsewhere like Web mail etc

Tried it about 10 times and works fine on my server and windows mail, really don't understand what it can be.
Hi just done this again and seems to be working, but one more question where do i change the sound for email alerts ?
goto normal settings (not email settings)>sound>notification sound
i could swear the old mail app used to let it have a separate sound of its own though.. weird.

Does anyone know of a text application I can use on my wifi tablet without having to use on my cell phone? I don't mind using a Bluetooth sync application. I tried Pro SMS but it won't work on the tablet. I used textra on my cell phone and I don't want to change it, so the text applications that require installation on both devices will not be what I want.
Perhaps use Samsung's sidesync
I dont think what you are asking is possible or would even be allowed due to security reasons.
Anything like that would surely need permissions on the host device (your phone) via an app.
Side sync which is Samsung devices only has the ability to allow you to use your tablet as if it was your phone.

It has been a while since I used it but this app worked very well to do what you want and it is conpatible with the T-800.

You have to also instal the phone version of the app on your phone and set that up too. Worked great with my Nexus 7. I haven't had a real need for it lately, so haven't set it up on my Tab S.

Odd question from someone who personally does not send a lot of texts. Why can't you just use both? One to text with on your device, textra, and one to sit on your phone and intercept text messages from your tablet, mightytext. Dose mighty text actually have to be the default messaging app to work or can it not just sit there quietly in the background and intercept text messages for you?
I'm using TextNow on my tablet. You can even make calls from it if you have the credits to do so and those are easy to get if you're willing to watch short videos. I've never had any issues with this app.
