[Q] Gingerbread Battery Poll - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have made a Gingerbread Battery Mod. I wanted to get people opnion because right now I do not have the battery percentage in the battery mod. So, would you rather have the battery percentage or not?
My personal opinion at first was I wanted the percentage. The problem is with the battery in the position it is and the new colors it is going to be hard to make the percentage big enough so you don't have to strain to see it. after running the mod on my phone for a couple days I found that the battery percentage was not a big deal and that this mod flowed enough to give you a good representation of how much battery you have left. Just some technical stuff, this mod does have the full 100 images for the percentage not just a couple images for certain levels of the battery. Anyways let me know.....

I personally like the gingerbread battery without any percentage. Just curious, what rom did you make it for?

it is for the Stock Roms or Virtuous Rom. It is tough to make a mod for the other custom roms. There are so many different mods and version that people run.

OOOOOOO I am very interested in it . I have been running virtuous for a while now and I'm interested in a gingerbread battery. Would it be possible at all to also modify the wifi/3G symbols?

What do you mean by modify? Would you like the other gingerbread icons included? If that is the case yes you can but in 2.3 it is different so some of the icons need to be modified.
If you meant modified in the way of making them into something else the answer is yes. I am currently working on making a set of icons that match and flow with the above battery picture.

Can you please make a red one

Please try to stay on topic because I am not taking requests right now. I just wanted to find out what would be more in demand. A Gingerbread Battery Mod with or without the battery percentage

O sorry did not read well, umm personaly I don't like the percent Idk why lol its just no my thing

I personally like having the percentage. Not sure why but I have to know the percentage at all times!

I prefer the percentage. I see sooo many screenshots of setups with a battery widget and the percentage in the notification bar. can you say redundant? I like a clean home screen and prefer to not use a battery widget. Having the percentage in the bar helps to keep it just that. clean and simple

Percentage....yes

I'm a percentage fan

No percentages for me.

Percentage, Yes!

I honestly cannot pinpoint why I hate the percentage MOD so much, it may have to do that I prefer things stock, I'm not sure, but no percentages for me.

Why not release both?
I personally prefer percentage, but that is me. Hey, i'd probably even include it in my theme

Just like the title says
Don't tell me to search. I know how to and I wanted to hear what you guys like for the battery, CPU and any other sensors
Thanks
Quick System Info Pro.
Has incorporated a lot of features including ones from Spare parts. I no longer need three different monitoring apps to do what this one now does.
It's the free version.
TempMonitor. Put's the temp up in the toolbar for battery temp. Mini info for the rest. Don't feel like buying it though.

Android system info has a widget for batter and memory, but I use Battery Life from Curvefish. Batt status, temp, volts. Good widget.
camarojones Thanks I like that app.

that's the program i use too. especially for the task killer. along with batteryminder. which is quite possibly my favorite battery percentage and temp program for the notifications and the status bar icon it has. dont care much for quick system info's status bar notifications so i use batteryminder instead.
"weather & toggle widgets" with h7c skin for clock and weather.
Looks exactly like the Sense clock.
battery life by curvefish is the bomb!
Battery minder is cool. But i am totally loving Battery life
Thanks guys this is my first android phone and I just keep finding more cool **** seems like every day, but at the same time it's ez to get lost in all the apps.
I use batterytime. Battery percent, temperature, voltage in pull down notification drawer. Also a widget for the battery.

ICS battery life vs Miui/CM

I have tried Andromadus, Desire s port and ICS for desire z. Although the battery is better with each release, it still drain really fast.
When I say drain I mean in use. Not really noticed typical 'battery drain' from background services etc.
My DD has been various versions of Miui or CM7 for a few months and the battery is great.
Loads of people are saying that battery is good on ICS but I just don't see it.
Am I doing something wrong?
Well let's start knocking stuff off a list...
For each of these, think about what it's like on ICS compared to MIUI or CM7:
Brightness setting
Screen time on
Music time
WiFi time
3G time
Browsing/syncing time
Different apps running in background (how many do you kill if any on either?)
Any apps replacing stock ones? (messaging mainly)
Number of messages
Sound/vibrate on or off
Think about if these are equal for both. I've noticed mainly and largely that my battery drain from having 3G turned on is SIGNIFICANTLY lower than on MIUI, just an example.

Brightness set to auto on both.
Screen set to 1 minute auto off on both. Running time is just general use (as a heavy user).
Haven't used music for a little while.
So far most of my testing was on wifi so that and 3G were left alone.
As for usage and apps. I use stock apps on both. And any apps that I added were added on both.
Vibrate/sound were mostly the same on both with haptics turned on but selection sounds off.
As far as I can tell, without testing again to get the battery stats, my usage was standard for me but ICS uses battery like a machine. Oh and no app killing.

My observations are the same as yours no builds of ICS gave me more battery life than MIUI and CM roms.
I wasn't getting great battery life on ICS either until this morning when I flashed Virtuous Quattro. I'd say it's just as good as what I was getting on GB.
'Good' to see others are getting similar results.
I'll keep an eye on updates as they are bound to improve just as GB roms have.

with andromadus im back at a days batterylife, with ILWT cm7 i get about 27 hours use, 7 hours is of course when im sleeping, but i get 8 hours of music with some pauses for games.
here you can see where im playing games, and when im just listening to music

Mine hasn't been too bad. This was with AndroICS. Took it off the charger Christmas morning around 7-730am. Was out and about all day with some moderate use (ya know, to keep my sane around the family), wifi on probably half the time.
Then again I don't know how well battery stats are tracked in that ROM.

Suggestion ICS Quarx and Eppy read it please!

I thought posting it in the long thread but probably Quarx wouldn't read it although he awnsered me a few times
What do you think if in the ICS under the battery style we include as an option the
"BATTERY BAR"
For those who've used MIUI they know what Im talking about, its very stylish and it fits really well with the ICS default them
for those who doesnt it is basically this:

thanks for your work! Just a suggestion that I think everyone will like it, its not like asking for adding some specific app to read pdf for example, is just the option the ICS misses under the battery style part ^^
Quarx and other devs doesn't take care of this things, they make cm9 works for defy and other stuff of course
I'm not saying that they wouldn't be able; i think you should ask for this feature on official cyanogen website/forum.
If your hint will be accepted, done and merged on official cyanogen source code, then we'll have it on defy too.

I couldn't care less about something that occupies display space.
So no. Not everyone would like it.

I dont really like the dBm signal instead of the bars but it is there as an option, why not include this type of battery style?

Actually, it just take advantage of pixels that are not used anyway. If you look your cm closely there are a couple of pixels rows above status bar not used, that is the space used. I really thinks it pollutes the screen less then normal icon.
OP: But as someone told you before, this is not on the scope of epsy, quarks works. They are more them able, though.
thanks for replies, Ive tried both apps team bar and charge bar, but I just get the feeling Its drains battery much faster is this possible?
CM roms are all abt simplicity. It needs to be kept as similar as possible to stock android. Why not make a custom rom with cm9 as base rom with these features.
I can assure you cm9 has way more customization options than a stock rom, my suggestion is not something from another world, you can enable it or not, just like the dBm signal instead of the bars (this last feature cant be found in any stock rom)

Note 2 Best battery life rom ?

I want to know which custom rom got best battery life.
In stock, my batt drops 1% about 3-4 minutes of web browsing with WIFI(I installed about 18 big games with gl to sd ), i think this sucks with a 3100mah batt and i saw the "excellent battery life" feature in Android Revolution 4.1 so i flashed it, but the problem is that the batt life became worse 1% drop about 2-3 minutes.(I restore the games and apps with titanium backup with data)
Another question, can i restore games and apps with data when i jump to differnt roms? Thanks a lot!:highfive::highfive:
I am trying this russian rom & i hope it is good otherwise try Wanam's rom it worked great on my note 2

So far there is better battery performance but also some of the functions are deleted like s voice & tts engines

emotion rom 2.0 is solution on 4.1.2
There's probably other things you can do to save battery (wifi, brightness, background processes, etc). There's a thread on here somewhere. The ROM itself won't be the magic bullet you're looking for.

thats just a fix while killing the phone's everything..
the battery should be perfect when those are on average.. not when everything is completely off..
i would have a my note 2 to be usable for 1 hour with everything is on average instead of having a 15 hours battery that has everything off that makes the phone useless..
and 4.1.2 has some bugs thats why it drains battery.. cutom roms might fix that bug..
i personally get only 5-7 hours of display with pretty much everything is on average beside sync is off, i sync only when i need it..
---------------
but if you are looking for fixes like that, try using juicedefender or turn off google maps and google now.
---------------
i personally use SilmBean which is based on AOSP 4.2.1 which is very nice looking and makes a full use of screen and it has a good battery,
omega v11 rom with persues kernel sweet battery.
The battery life for this is really good

Battery Icon Changer

Check out this thread http://tinyurl.com/blfwv4l. It lets you change your battery icon on the fly. I don't know if it will work with our phones though it was originally made for samsung. I would try it out now but I am at work and you need to have a computer to use it. When I get home I will nandroid and try it out. If any one is at a computer and wants to try that would be cool. It would be nice if this worked. I would like a battery icon with percent in it rather on the side.

I'm not entirely sure if this will work for our phone. There are slight differences in how LG has decided to name their battery state and charging icons (different from AOSP anyway). I'm not sure if this program takes that into account or not, and I'm also not sure if Samsung has a different naming convention as well. It is possible that this goes in and changes the XML files to account for the different names, but it would have to go into at least four of them and change values, which I'm sure would be messy trying to accomplish for multiple OEM structures.

I was kinda thinking the same after reading more into it. It is really made for samsung. I have been trying to find some time to try it out and see what happens. Hopefully this weekend.

Not to toot my own horn, but take a look at GSam battery monitor. With the add on icon pack, it will overlay the stock battery icon. No root or mod needed.
I'll be releasing a new version very soon that will allow third party icon packs to overlay as well. I'm not much of a graphic artist, but if you are, you can create your own icon pack.
Here is a screenshot of what it looks like.
