[Boot animation] - win 7 / nexus - Galaxy S I9000 Themes and Apps

Found this awesome boot animation in the Nexus one forum, thought i'd re-post. I tried it on my SGS and think it's pretty cool.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=640231
I did not make this, original poster was nighthound so thank him not me. Just follow his instruction on how to install, very straight forward.
I suck at adding the gif so if someone could post it just for people to see that would be good.

not working. I tried to install to CWM but did not install.
Anyway, it's really a very nice boot animation.

No CWM Package at first post do you flashed the .zip?! Because that you should renam to bootanimation.zip and push it data/media ( i think )..
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App

Rename it as bootanimation.zip and place it in data/local or system/media

oh... i just wanted to make one today with exactly the same win7+nexus, but ended with the shiny S logo (samsung galaxy s)

look cool !

@ykkfive: let me know when you have that bootanimation done....i'd love it with the galaxy s shine before the w7/nexus

Nice share, thanks!

[BOOTANIMATION] Nexus S Bootanimation, the same as the Nexus One.

Hi all,
Here I post the Nexus S Bootanimation, extracted from the System Dump provided under Galaxy S Development forums.
Copy the .zip file with Root Explorer into system/media/ replacing the one you have, make a backup of your Boot Animation first!
Megaupload: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=DHXFPJQI
Mediafire: http://www.mediafire.com/?1v6aj8wrsa2nsal
Have fun!
Edit: It seems to be the same exact Boot Animation from the Nexus One, so the Nexus S has no new animation
Edit 2: Been playin a bit with the Nexus S System Dump, nice new ringtones added, and really nice things, I will try to get the Screen Off Animation, but don't know which file is it! :S
Can you please post another mirror...mega upload is not allowed in my ofc network
Edited first post with another download link.
thanks, works perfectly
The screen off animation would be great
Will this work with any rom and not affect the theme.
Beamed from my sweet Galaxy S with doc's jpo v9 zenkinz oc and R64s theme.
Works with any ROM as you are changing /system files. Replacing manually the bootanimation.zip is fine if you have Root Explorer, if not, just download Boot Animation Changer LITE from the Market and apply Nexus One Bootanimation, which sadly is the same as the Nexus S Bootanimation.
Can you extract the new live wallpaper? (Nexus neuronal) which is diffrent that the posted in the forums. Thanks.
post up the new ringtones
how to backup the bootanimation.zip from the root explorer? do i have to transfer it to internal sd or what? sorry, noob here.
+1 for screen off animation.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Sorry for being thick, I downloaded the .zip, then opened root explorer and browsed to system\media to copy the original as stated above, but I don't have any such file?
Running JPU 2.2.1 installed via Odin and rooted with CF-Root 1.3.
EDIT: Bit of searching gave the answer, need a kernal that supports boot animations... CF-root appears not to then... shame
To backup your previous Bootanimation, just copy/paste the one in /system/media/ somewhere in your Internal or External SD.
About the screen off animation, I don't have a clue where is it placed in /system, so I can't get it :S
About the ringtones, Darky's ROM comes with all the Nexus S Ringtones, just download Darky's v7 and extract the zip in your desktop and navigate to /system/media/audio, and you will find the ringtones, alarms and notification ringtones from the Nexus S.
I'm using a Voodoo kernel but i also dont see the "original" boot animation.
I just placed it there, it didnt replace anything, rebooted and it worked!
Thank you OP!
Shutdown animation location
Hi Paco,
first of all, gracias!! I'm willing to give this a try.
Regarding the sthudown animation, the post dated 14/12/10 by aitorsantana in http://www.htcmania.com/showthread.php?t=160474&page=3 seems to point all the shutdown animation frames to be stored in /system/video/media/shutdown

Ouch! I've just downloaded a NSRom.zip containing a (supposed dump) of a Nexus S, and that directory does not exist
It is system/media/video/shutdown not video/media.

Automatic Splash Image Creator (PNG to Flashable Zip in One Click!)

This DOES NOT work on the i9300/note 2 and never will, please stop asking about it.
Please take all questions/discussion to the d2_vzw thread HERE because it is the only one I'll monitor!
Thanks to the work of invisiblek and some Google searching I was able to come up with the following tool:
This tool takes a 720x1280 .PNG image and converts it to a recovery-flashable splash screen in a single click.
A video so you can see what this changes: http://youtu.be/XXaBJTVQ2Sw
How to use:
Making your own splash screen:
0) Download and extract the .zip file
1) Make a 720x1280 .png image you want to be your splash screen (this comes in-between the boot animation and the quick Samsung logo flash)
2) Name it "initlogo.png" without the quotes
3) Place it in the PNGtoConvert folder
4) Run the "PNG-2-RLE.bat" file
5) You are finished! A "flashthisinrecovery.zip" will appear in the same directory as the batch files. Just flash it in recovery and enjoy your new splash screen!
Note: If you want the .RLE and not the whole flashable, it can be found as "initlogo.rle" in the "kernel" folder or you can pull it from the kernel folder inside the "flashmeinrecovery.zip"
Converting an .RLE that you made back to a .PNG for editing:
0) Download an extract the .zip file
1) Copy the "initlogo.rle" you want to convert to a .PNG to the RLEtoConvert folder. It must be named "initlogo.rle"
2) Run the "RLE-2-PNG.bat"
3) PNG will be in the PNGtoConvert folder named "initlogoOUTPUT.png"
Other notes:
I have included the stock initlogo as a .PNG named "initlogoSTOCKBACKUP.png" for your reference/backup purposes. If you want to test the tool with it, remember to rename it to initlogo.png
If you flash a new kernel/rom the splash will revert to stock. To get it back, just flash the "flashmeinrecovery.zip" again. You don't need to reconvert it or anything.
This has only been tested with the d2_vzw but will work with all USA (S4 CPU) variants!
Credits:
invisiblek for the recovery zip scripting

As always, even though this tool has been tested, nobody is responsible to damage to your phone except yourself!
Finally a way to put the stock splash screen on kernels that have ugly ones. (No offense devs. >.< <3)
I miss doing this with my old G1/MT3G. Now to find my NOFTCHX logo. Thanks for this can't wait til I have time to do this.
people, post yours up to give people some ideas.
Thanks for this con247, it worked like a charm! Here's the png I made for mine GO BUCKS!
Finally. Been waiting for this since I left the gnex. Logo me was great app. This one will do for sure. We should get to posting all of the images we make to share with everyone. Thanks dev!.
DARKSIDE
Good stuff!!! Finally found this in the tmous threads.... sweeeeet..
Thank you so much for this! I was worried this wouldn't be possible since it's coded into the kernel. Thanks again!

They must have changed it for the GS5. There isn't a bootanimation.zip in the system/media folder. Also, the desc.txt file in (at least the first one) would need to be changed from 480 800 to 1080 1920.

[REQ] Flashable Android L Bootanimation that works on Galaxy Nexus

Hey guys, I've tried to flash and/or manually install every iteration of the new Android L bootanimation onto the Gnex with either the result of a black bootscreen or the phone simply does not boot at all until I return the current bootanimation I have. I don't know what the issue is or what I have done wrong, I've tried modifying the dimensions with no resolution either.
So I humbly ask, could someone get a working version of the new Android L Bootanimation in flashable form for the Galaxy Nexus? Please.
I just transfered the bootabimation.zip to the correct folder while backing up the old.
I went the old fashioned way without using a flashable zip

Still doesn't work. I even did a fresh install with the bootanimation added to system/media where it's supposed to go and all I get after the Google splash is one little green pixel and then the screen stays black until the phone is booted. I have done no modifications to the bootanimation.zip on this or any of the others I have tried, I simply delete the bootanimation.zip already in system/media and then add the Android L bootanimation. It simply does not work at all. I really don't understand what the problem is. Every other bootanimation I've tried out works fine.
I have no idea then. I literally just changed the old one to bootanimation.zip.old and copied the new one over.
@Nephilim
Did you try to move it to data/local ?
I'll also mention that for me it worked on Omni FML. So unless you're using OMNI FML it could be something rom specific.

Trust me! I always do it that way. I don't remember why (some guy mentioned it in a bootanination thread), but it works for me without an issue... You may even leave the system animation, it gets ignored...

[MOD] Custom Boot Animations

Hi All,
These are some custom boot animations for our S6 / Edge, These are not my work
I have simply re-packaged them, with our stock Samsung boot and shutdown animations so they are ready for our devices and can be flashed via a custom recovery, or even just copied via a Root file manager.(see below) I have also made a boot sound disabler and re-enabler.
Samsung decided to use a propitiatory file format for their boot animations so we can not use standard boot animations that we would normally use......
Fortunately there are some great guys here on XDA who have made some .qmg boot animations for us
All Thanks should go to Kachowpow, he has compiled the most comprehensive list of qmg based boot animations in his Thead which is where I found most of these.
He has a S6 now as well, so we can expect to see a new thread in here soon with all the boot animations he has created and hopefully some new ones
If there one you like on there and need it packaging let me know, or even request for new sound(and maybe animations)
I will try to add more plus some images in the morning if requested, but most can be seen on the original thread and theres no point repeating them as some of them are huge(250mb+) unless someone want a flashable version like the ones attached,
If you don't have a custom recovery, simply extract:
qmg's to system\media
ogg's to system/media/audio/ui
and set the permissions
(I would back up the originals first if I were you)
SantinoInc said:
Dude I cracked the case! I finally found the actual boot animation file for my Sprint Edge:
XAS_bootsamsung.qmg
XAS_bootsamsungloop.qmg
Click to collapse
Tip: Some of these have both boot and shutdown animations integrated in them, so if you are wanting a different shutdown animation flash this second.
Also sprint normally puts a spr_ prefix before the file name so you won't be able to flash these and if copying manually put the spr_ before each qmg file name.
Due to our high res screen some animation may look distorted or pixelated, we just need to find/make some higher res ones.but some have speculated this would cause massive slowdown..
Hopefully this will just be the beginning of customizing our phones.
Any question, let me know.
As always this is dedicated to all of you and your hard work that makes this community great.
A quote from the original poster - You need to go thank him if you use any of these:
KachowPow said:
A few notes to start, there are 4 files that I tend to use within the Bootanimations which are:
1) Bootsamsung.qmg = this is the large file that holds/starts the bootanimation
2) Bootsamsungloop.qmg = this is a rather small file can either loop or end the bootanimation
3) PowerOn.ogg = this is file that plays sound during the bootsamsung.qmg and bootsamsungloop.qmg.
4) Shutdown.qmg = this is a mid-size file that plays a bootanimation as the device turns off, best way to activate is to select Power-> then reboot
While shutdown.qmg’s can be customized to work on different bootanimations, I have developed some bootsamsungloop.qmg’s to function separate of the bootsamsung.qmg, this allows the ability to fully customize the bootanimations that you would prefer to view. These QMG’s are listed in a Category called Intermezzo’s as they are Interchangeable without interrupting.
A few things to keep in mind.
A custom Bootanimation works best with a custom ROM, it simply does, Stock ROMs do not finish the same, often times the System will perform an “Apps Update.”
There is usually a delay between the loading of the Bootanimation and after the Safestrap loading screen appears.
QMG files have limitations some will not be as clean as Flashable Bootanimations, while others will present better.
Bootanimation’s require the use of both bootsamsung.qmg and bootsamsungloop.qmg (using one without the other will produce undesirable results.)
Please, give credit where due, there are many Bootanimations here, if I left someone out please let me know, if you want to post my work, please extend the courtesy.
CREDITS:
I give credit to xessus for his instruction and guidance with the Samsung Theme Designer program and QMG Formatting. Also, a Special Thanks to JaeKar99 who is the "Original Bootanimation Designer" that created large portion of these bootanimations seen here, I have reformatted them for our viewing pleasure!
With so many Bootanimations it is often hard to remember all of the sources that I pulled them from, the largest source Developer that does simply incredible work and is simply known throughout the Android community for his work is JaeKarr99 which most of the Bootanimations that appear in this LiBRaRy KoLLecTioN are his, I have simply accepted the challenge of using a difficult themeing system and configured it the best I can to keep these Bootanimations in the best form possible. This was done through the guidance of xessus as his walkthroughs and many many countless hours of attempting this work is hopefully showing a positive. Other themers I will mention are Crakanug with the Black Ops II Bootanimation, CyanogenMod with CM, BKJolly, and the many others, if I fail to recognize I apologize it is not intentional nor out of disrespect, please forgive me.

I could definitely try , the problem with this device is it stats up so fast you only get about 14 seconds of animation.

Another nice thread man. There is a "Marvel Avengers Sequence" bootanimation on the second post from the thread that you link to. All I have to do is replace the QMG files and that's it? Does it have to be edited somehow to better fit our screen?

Nothing needs to be done to it, all you have to do is copy over the QMG's to
system/media/bootsamsung.qmg
- shutdown.qmg
- bootsamsung.qmg
and sounds to :
system/media/audio/ui/PowerOn.ogg
all boot animation are automatically stretched to fit the scrren by the device
distortion will depend on the aspect ratios, if its 16:9 it will look really nice(with most of the ones on that thread are 1080 so will be perfect)
let me know if you have any problems.

I noticed that in System/Media/ I also have:
bootsamsungmini.qmg, bootsamsungmini2.qmg, bootsamsungminiloop.qmq, bootsamsungminiloop2.qmg and BST_bootsamsung.qmg, BST_bootsamsungloop.qmg and crypt_bootsamsung.qmg, crypt_bootsamsungloop.qmg
Should I just leave those other files alone? I'm guessing that the bootsamsungmini is probably Sprint's gay bootani?
Something didn't work properly because I didn't get the Marvel bootani. Now I have just the Samsung bootanimation w/o the Sprint bootani. If I had to guess I have to delete the bootsamsungmini and samsungmini2 files?
I'm afraid to fuk with it too much because I don't have TWRP and really don't want bootloops. No time to Odin back to stock ATM.

Yes leave them where they are . no need to mess with them. I'd back up your originals in case you want to go back. Or even upload them here for people as back ups

Yeah, I edit my last post. Followed your instructions but it didn't work. The Marvel boot won't show but I did get rid of the Sprint boot.

I've made the Marvel vs DC a bit quicker by removing the pauses (hope this is the one you wanted)
I get through about 13 characters now, do you want a sound file to go with this?
Anything else that needs changing?

Yes, originals had the same name. Originals I renamed to xxxxx.bak.
If you have a chance take a look in your system/media folder and look at how many qmg files have the word "boot" in them. I'm seeing a bunch.

I have quite a few too,
bootsamsung.qmg
bootsamsungloop.qmg
bootsamsungmini.qmg
bootsamsungmini2.qmg
bootsamsungminiloop.qmg
bootsamsungmini2loop.qmg
cryptbootsamsungloop.qmg
shutdown.qmg
shutdown.qmg.cover
have you tried another boot animation? just to make sure its not corrupt.
VMU & XAS bootsamsung are two others I have. The file I d/l wasn't corrupt because the boot down animation worked (once)
I want to wait till we have a solid root/recovery method before I get to far along with this stuff but I decided I couldn't hurt too much by renaming PowerOn.ogg to .bak and seeing if that would kick the annoying boot sound to the curb and sure enough it worked without a hitch.
Good thread btw, I'll be back along to revisit this after things get more solid with the fundamentals on this handset.

this one has a sound file in it , but I'm not happy with the quality, (give me time to find a better one) and it a marvel rather than dc/marvel, if can think of a better one to go with the animation let me know.
Cheers
