Okay guys my Tilt 90 degrees detection is super slow
my 4g won't work (tries to scan forever) (I'm using CM but on 4gworking roms it doesn't work)
My GPS takes forever to lock on (known issue with new CM nightly)
My phone will not USB charge / transfer (I can use dropbox for file transfers I guess -_-) [never learned adb]
I want to reset to brand new and get my GPS and 4G working and forget CM and get a nice ROM maybe VaelROM or Fresh or Something.
Anybody help me out please? I have EVO with CM6 and Clockwork recovery
Do you have ROM manager?
wouldnt loading a shipped rom reset everything?
and isnt there a wipe for tilt?
When I could not connect to my computer I used one off the PCIMG files from the rooting process to reset everything back to stock.
Takes alittle bit off time
Yes I have the purchased ROM manager.
I don't get it - why not just flash a new rom that doesn't have those issues? Why go back to stock?
Because it doesn't fix it, or atleast 4G doesn't get fixed.
I'll try flashing a new ROM tommarow. In the mean-time i'll flash stock rom just incase it does fix it might as well. Then I'll flash Fresh Vael or something good.

Tips
Have you flashed the latest Wimax radios?
Have you used your purchase Rom Manager to flash Amon Recovery... because that will give you all kinds of options to reset your phone and wipe everything (including the tilt sensor or whatever its called).
If all else fails and if you have insurance, go wake-boarding and take video with your EVO while jumping the wake and maybe by accident your phone will fall into the water.
Just some thoughts.
i would like to do this too. My adb is acting up, i can't remount saying its not found and /or do not have permission. I want to go back to my stock froyo unrooted and go though the long rooting process by downgrading and using unrevoked 3 with unrevoked forever method.I found methods of doing so, but they are for hboot 0/76 and i have hboot 0.93.0000, so that's no help. Any help with this will be great. I have such a headache trying to find a solid way to do this.
Hey all
So i searched and saw people with slightly similar issues, but not the same as mine.
I was hoping anybody could help.
I was having small issues with the rom i was running (CM) and decided to wipe all and go back to a nandroid i had of a previous ROM (Myn 2.2).
I wiped all through recovery and tried to load the Nandroid. It got stuck at the white HTC Evo 4g load screen.
I pulled battery. Went into recovery. Reloaded a seperate Nandroid backup (one that i had restored before with no issues) and had the same issue.
I then went back into recovery, wiped all, and did a fresh install of the Myn rom zip on my SD card (one that i had loaded before and knew was okay). Once again...stuck at the white loading screen.
So here i am. Recovery works, but i absolutely cannot get any ROM's or Nandroid backups to work after restoring/installing. Constantly stuck at the white screen.
Any ideas? I've flashed my phone a million times and this is the first time this is happening.
Thanks in advance everyone.
okay, quick follow up.
I reflashed CM6 and am able to load ONLY CM.
Seems really weird to me. Any ideas why I am unable to get back to other ROMs? I did recently update to the most recent Radio...that's the only physical change to my phone that i made that i can think of.
Thanks again. At least i have a working phone.
I had this issue, RLS4 is based on the 3.30 release. I had to downgrade my NV, PRI, Radio and WiMax to get it running.
You can grab all of these here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=715485
EDIT: Make sure you flash one zip at a time here. I'm not certain if it's okay to do them all at the same time, but I generally hear that can cause issues. It'll ask you to reboot after each one. If you use Amon RA, it'll just reboot into recovery again, not sure about Clockwork.
I was also surprised that my nandroid backups of Myn's from before I flashed 3.70 software update didn't work/revert my software back to 3.30.

I downloaded these ones and flashed them in this order. Each time I'd try to install the ROM after flashing. I didn't successfully flash until after the NV. If I was a good troubleshooter, I would've tried to narrow it down here. Sorry, I'm not sure if it's necessary to downgrade one or all.
EVO_WiMAX_26023_R01
EVO_Radio_2.15.00.09.01
EVO_PRI_1.77_003
EVO_NV_1.77_003
I didn't mess with HBOOT, I was able to install the ROM after I flashed the NV.
I have a same problem
stuck on the white screen, triyed to run the pc36img.zip and its says no image
then I went to recovery it only allows me to run a zip file...What can run as zip
file to get this to load my rom and I dot have nanroid either...
Any help/advise is apprciated!!

Maybe it's time to try a 100% clean wipe and re-flash.
Give Synergy a shot, because it's awesome (link below) and while you're at it, format and partition your SD card. This will ensure a very clean wipe of the SD (make sure you back up important files onto your computer, like your nandroid backups or CM backups). Wipe the usual cache/dalvik and everything else 3 or 4 times, and then load the ROM up. See if it fixes it.
Synergy: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1144447
Formatting/partitioning procedure: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1158993

post whoreing my thread steve?
Do you have an old nand backup you could restore to? That might be worth a shot.
Both of those issues happened to me once when I used an incompatible kernel with one of my roms, but as soon as I did a nand backup, I was fine.

Ok... here's the deal. I just decided to switch roms finally to see what is new out there. I had been running an old version of Uber Kingdom. Here is the problem I am having. It is boot looping. Relatively simple problem to fix usually. But wait, there's more! It is boot looping in every single rom I install. Sometimes it won't boot to clockwork properly either and I have to pull the battery. Is there someway I can fix this? Or is this a hardware problem (which I kind of doubt)? I just don't understand what the heck is going on. I have been flashing different roms left and right for the past few hours trying to get this thing to stabilize. Sometimes it will boot up into the rom, I will get mostly through the google accounts setup, and then it will restart, and then loop. Other times it won't even get past the white incredible screen, and then sometimes it will make it into the rom splash screen. I have attempted to install CM7 nightly, Uber kingdom, and Synergy so far. I can flash the new rom, I can mount the SD card in clockwork, but then it begins to loop again as soon as I leave clockwork.
Let me know if you need any other information.
Is there a way to just completely redo EVERYTHING, clockwork, rom, everything, just to make sure I have a nice clean slate?
Thanks a ton for reading through this novel. I am extremely frustrated.
~Will
PS, I may not get back to this thread until morning. I have to get to sleep for work. Sorry if I don't respond right away to information requests. Thanks again!
If you can mount the SD card, download the stock RUU from www.dougpiston.com, put it on the root of the SD card named exactly PB31IMG.zip, and boot into hboot to install it. Your phone should be restored to stock, a clean slate.
Tried a different SD?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA Premium App
How are you downloading and flashing the ROM? I had this problem when trying to do everything through Rom Manager. Even trying to flash in recovery with a ROM downloaded through ROM Manager would loop.
Update
Well, I was just getting ready to flash the original RUU when I tried one last time to restore my old Uber rom setup and it worked (whereas the last 3 times of doing exactly the same process didn't). It stopped looping at least, even though I am still running the same rom I was before. I think tonight I am still going to attempt to flash the RUU anyway and start over anew.
To answer the questions before, No, I did not try a different SD. I didn't know it could make that much difference. Still on the original one that came with the phone.
As the downloading and flashing process goes, I was downloading direct from the XDA forums on my laptop, then transferring the files via USB. I have never really liked using the Rom Manager. It cuts me out of the XDA loop and I don't get to see all the bleeding edge discussions, etc...
So I will try to flash everything new tonight, and then post my results for anyone who is curious. Thanks for the help guys!
Hello everyone. I have not been too particularly active here mainly because I have had no real reason to post. I give thanks when needed, but don't really post. Well, now I am having an issue that I genuinely cannot figure out. I recently dropped my phone and the digitizer cracked big-time. When I went to replace it, the connector for the ribbon cable broke. So instead of buying a new logic board, I just decided to buy a new Evo. However, I couldn't afford the approx. $600 for the "without a contract" price. So I went to a local Sprint dealer in my town and bought a factory refurbished Evo. Here is where the problems start.
I have been having reboots constant with this phone. I knew that there were some issues with the Evo randomly rebooting, but I have never seen something like this. It happens about every minute or so. Sometimes sooner. Sometimes I luck out and it doesn't reboot for a few hours. I notice that it does not reboot at all while it is in recovery, which is a great thing. I have tried multiple different ROMs and each one does it. I am completely out of ideas. I don't necessarily want to take it back, mainly because returning it to stock would be a pain. However, it is looking like I have to. Does anyone have any idea? It is obvious that it is not a bootloop, because I am able to actually get into the launcher. However, within a minute, it reboots. Can old radios cause it to reboot like this? It did this even with stock unrooted.
If any information is needed, please let me know. I really want to get this working without returning.
Thanks
StompySan
EDIT: It would seem that flashing my Nandroid backup of stock rooted seems to stop the rebooting issues. Could the ROMs I am installing be conflicting with the radios, causing it to reboot?
If I were you, without unrooting, I would flash the RUU for your phone. Then flash the pc36img for Amon Ra.
Before all that, I'd also back up your SD Card, then reformat it, so you are basically starting from scratch. A good idea, before you restore everything to your SD Card, but after you flash Amon Ra, is to partition it for EXT3. ( http://themikmik.com/showthread.php?5669-GUIDE-TUTORIAL-Apps2SD-Guide&highlight=partition+sdcard )
A lot of the ROMS now will take advantage of that. Once that's done, you can restore your SD Card backup to your phone.
Then I'd make a nandroid of that stock/rooted ROM, so you can always go back to it if you need to. When I nandroid, I backup everything except cache.
Figure out which ROM you want, put it on your card along with DT A2SD and the kernel you want to use. Make sure it's a kernel for the type of ROM you want, either AOSP or Sense. Personally, I keep the best rated kernel for each on mine.
Go to Wipe in Recovery and wipe everything, EVERYTHING, except the SD Card, then flash your ROM, and in the same recovery session, flash DT A2SD.
Let it boot up and let it settle in before you do anything. For me, that means once the screen shuts itself off.
Back to recovery, wipe Cache and Dalvik-Cache, then flash your kernel, reboot and let it settle in again.
THEN setup your Google accounts and preferences.
For me, I'd go back to recovery and nandroid that setup, before you've restored your apps, and make another nandroid, so you have one of your ROM's Base.
Then, reboot and see if the problem is fixed. If it is, restore your apps and see how it goes. If it starts rebooting, you know it's in your apps, so you can go back to the nandroid you made and start form there, installing a few apps at a time
Thanks for your reply HipKat.
I followed your tutorial step-by-step. However, after flashing A2SD and rebooting, it bootlooped (not like what I was getting, but an actual no boot logo bootloop). I am assuming that the ROM that I flashed didn't like the A2SD. So I restarted the tutorial, skipping the part where you flash the A2SD script. It seems like it is doing great now! I have no clue what I was doing wrong. I was using CWM. Maybe that was the problem. Could it have not been wiping it properly?
Thanks again for the quick response!
1.There are some roms that provides a CPU speed of 1.2G. With those roms and setcpu installed manually by myself, my evo rebooted just like yours. I don't know why, too.
But after I wipe everything(as HipKat said) and flash other rom, my evo 4g works just fine.
2. Before flashing new roms, wipe everything is absolutely required, otherwise strange problems will keep coming out.
What I comprehend is that flash roms on phone is like upgrading OS on your computer, you can't run windows7 with XP's configuration, right?
Hey HipKat, I've noticed that you advise people to wipe everything but the SD card in Amon Ra. You may want to note that wiping battery stats is only good if you have a full battery and plan on calibrating properly. If you wipe battery stats at 70%, your phone won't charge past 70% (thinking that it's full) unless you use an sbc kernel. Just something to keep in mind.
I'm not knocking your directions, you help a lot of people out. It's just something to think about.

You're right! I keep overlooking that because I never flash unless I'm fully charged.
My mistake on those posts. Thanks!
I was still getting reboots after doing all of that. I thought it went away, but it didnt.

This has to be it. I changed the speed to 1.15GHz in SetCPU and it has not done it since. Thanks!

Maybe you should try some classic roms that don't require app2sd, like kings' kinged kingdom.
Before I partition my sd card, with shooter E3D and synerge, my evo also sometimes reboot, but not so frequently as yours.
And the CPU speed should be below 998MHz on my device (HW version:004)! Set your cpu frequency lower first, then try some other roms.

It doesn't matter what speed I set it to. I had it at 998 before and it still rebooted.

I am going to flash Synergy real quick. I have already tried the following:
EVOlvedROM r3chargeD
Cyanogenmod
Are there any other ROMs I should try?
EDIT: I recorded a video of exactly what it is doing. I am currently encoding it. I will throw a YouTube link up soon.
Kings' Alliance is the steadiest rom i've ever used, without sense 3.0 though. If you don't mind you could try this:

MIUI, for the win, man!
OK, I can pretty much confirm that it is a hardware problem. I have tried every ROM I can think of. It always seem to restart when it tries to turn on the Mobile access. If it is connected to WiFi, it will not reboot. The moment it is disconnected, it starts. However, I know it is not because of a bad radio flash. I have tried re-flashing the radios and it still doesn't work. I have restored it completely back to stock (while keeping S-Off, naturally) and it still does it. So, I am going to be returning it tomorrow. However, I have one real quick question. I know how to unroot, but I am not sure on how to achieve S-On with the Revolutionary root. Can you just flash the Unrevoked S-On zip with this root, or is there a different method? I wasn't able to find anything out on this.
Thanks again for all of your help. I really can't believe how quick people on here replied.
It isn't your hardware, I had a similar issue on my phone, it wouldn't go past the evo screen (for hours), I updated my firmware and it worked.
Clear caches, flash this rom (supersonic_4.24.651.1_odexed-signed2 google it), it will update your firmware, then flash the rom you want on top of it

You can flash S-On.zip directly from the recovery, I suggest you try out the method I mentioned in the previous post, before you go doing something drastic.

Nonono, it goes past the Evo screen. It goes past the standard boot logo. However, once you are in the lockscreen, and it tries to connect to 3G, it reboots. It is not a standard no boot logo bootloop.

If you're gonna trade it in, you don't need to unroot. Chances are no one will ever know, as long as you have a stock ROM on there.

Yeah. That's what I was reading. Plus, I rooted with Revolutionary, which doesn't have a method to enable S-On.
Last night I flashed the latest stock ROM. As soon as it booted up and got to the lockscreen, it restarted. I can't see it not being a hardware problem. I am going to return it today. Hopefully they don't notice that it is S-Off. Any suggestions on what to say if they do?
