I know we all just got our eLocity A7 this week. Lets put our heads together and list apps that work, apps that don't and work arounds.
I will be adding a list later today. I have about 70 apps downloaded to try out.

UPDATE: 2/2/11
I recieved my eLocity A7 a few days ago. Installed ElocityMod v1.0c soon after charging it.
So far...
What works (major apps):
- Beautiful Widgest
- Clander Pad
- Google Translate
- Market
- Speed Test
- XDA app
- Angry Birds
- Astrid
- CalWidget
- e-mail & gmail
- greader
- Pandora
- Pulse
- SoundHoundWeatherBug
- THe Weather Cahnnel
- Youtube
- various other apps
- Latest Skype now works with ElocityMod v1.1
Not Working:
- Google Earth
- {Skype} now workd see above.
- Google Calander (I use Calander Pad instead. It syncs with google calander). UPDATED: There is a fix posted here. This one works. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10105712&postcount=781
- Acceleromete of off.
Raging Thunder: uncontrolable
Labyrinth Lite: L & R move Up & down... Up and down move L & R.
- Navigon Moblie Navigator will not run (FCs).
This should be renamed the "Apps that don't work" thread... lol
Also note if you're running a ROM or modified build.prop (if you don't know what this is, don't worry)
Need for speed shift - doesn't install the update needed
Grooveshark - fails after login, FC's
Anyone have any luck with skype? Mine is hit our miss... Sometimes I can get it to fully load and work, but for the most part it just sits and trys to login...

Now I have a bigger problem. I broke my screen. ;(
Anyone try Fring video chat? the other side sees my video upside down. Is this happening to anyone else? I've also tried Tango for video chat, but it won't even connect to the other caller.
just tried knocking live video and it seems that it's not a problem with fring. i hope someone at the factory didn't install my camera upside down!!
Does anybody manage to have slingplayer works?
I did a "sideload" from memory card (extracted from XT720). It installed but it doesn't open.

Same thing here. If I just use the camera its fine, so it must be software. I don't think the hardware is incorrectly installed.

The camera image was not upside down until the last FRING update.
CPG
Works:
Slingplayer Mobile for Android (but sometimes you have to launch it several times)
Doesn't Work:
SIRUIS-XM Online: Hangs on update after initial sign in.
I'm hoping both Sirius and Sling work on improving their apps for android tablets. Sling isn't bad but they should offer a higher resolution player like they do for the iPad. Having HDMI out and using Sling could be a killer app for for the A7.
I've got Yahoo messanger video call working great, just DL'd the messenger app from the market (using Dexters Mod), and then searched for the yahoo video plugin apk.
I also HAD an Archos A70 and had similar issues with the webcams being upside down, may be something in the froyo software.
Games
Crusade Of Destiny loads and everything works except joystick
Android
I have had my Elocity A7 for 3 days now and only one conclusion, Android 2.2 and all of the software is junk. I have found that after the posted updates, more of the apps crash the system than work. The only tablet that I have seen stable with working apps is the Samsung Galaxy. Android will never gain marketshare with abundance of negative press from people like me.

Did you apply Dexter's ROM? I had the ViewSonic G Tablet prior to purchasing the A7 and nearly all the apps I tried worked fine. As for the A7 some work and some don't but for the money, I can't complain. Like it or not, Android is here to stay and will only continue to get bigger
Update to my post on page 1.
Works:
- Latest Skype now works with ElocityMod v1.1.
Not Work:
- Navigon Mobile Navigator won't run (FCs).
- Google Navigation dosen't work.
Even with an external BT GPS device that works with Google Maps it Says, "GPS is disabled". You click "ok" and it takes you to location & Security Settings, I assume to emable GPS, but there is no option to enable GPS as the A7 has no built in GPS. Note Google Navigation does work on my Viewsonic g tablet.

To be fair, I'd say Swiping through screens has been there in Android for long, can't recall when exactly, but I think YouTube app was one of the first, the tiles do give out a hint of WP7, but again, I find the styling bit more close to Web version of the Market.
As for slow refresh, yes I do notice that too !! I'm sure will be fixed in future updates
the tiles on the front screen was the wp7 thing.
swiping left and right - didnt even cross my mind

Yeah, google should also put an option to disable the preview page, the one with bigger images, for each category..It works good on wi-fi, but can't work on low 3g or edge..After 10 minutes i browsing the market, it downloaded about 16 MB of data..too much
Really want to install this but the amount of data it consumes seems kinda crazy.
I've been using the new Android Market for about a day now and I'm really enjoying it.The new layout is nice and gives the market a more premium feel. Some new great high quality apps would make it almost perfect.

There's many games as well such as the THD game's like Fruit Ninja THD, and games that look good on the big screen like Radiant. Also launcher's like LauncherPro are really neat on phones but just aren't that smooth or fast scrolling wise for tablets.
Hope these apps may make your experience with the Thrive a little more useful, they have for me since we've been getting quite honestly poor support here in Aus.
Btw I'm just looking at app's that aren't for rooted users since I know it's quite new on the Thrive/AT100 and I personally myself don't plan on rooting.

Use VTL Launcher at your own risk. If you check the WEB page, it says it is not compatible with Honeycomb. Some individuals on Toshiba Thrive Forum has reported ending up in a boot loop after installing this. Not all have had this issue. That is why I am saying to use this at you own risk.

I haven't had any issues with VTL myself, guess I'm just lucky. Btw, does anyone else have a home replacement that is smooth and just as functional on a tab?
I'm using TINYPLAYER for my mp3's.
Its a pure player.
No Art work or search controls. Shows music by file name from folder you set. I actually like it like that. Has shuffle repeat and random. Also another cool feature is font re-size.
But one problem with it don't know if other are having same problem. When using the app and you initiate the g sensor that would reorient the screen the player give error about cant find the SD card. I play music when I drive so this really erks me. Bumps are fine but soon as I turn I get the error. I store my music on the SD card about 10 gigs worth.
where can i get the penpower chinese writing pad that works with thrive??
My Spider Solitaire should work without problems on Thrive: https://market.android.com/details?id=magory.solitairespiderhd. It is designed for tablet screens (doesn't work on phones). I'm working on some improvements now (expect them next week). Am also working on another, more advanced game. Writing for Android is fun.

hey all, the not sure why it hasn't been said yet but adw ex works like it was made for the thrive. Very stylish seen transitions and I can't explain how fast it is (you need to try it yourself) it also allows you to use more of the screen unlike the stock. All widgets and are resizable, you can create as many or as little screens (I prefer to have received rather than the standard 5)

Here is the new beta firmware of BADA 2.0. Have you tested it ?
thanks for the info buddy. gonna test it.
===according to bada-os.inf o (via Google Translate): ===
"So the changes that I noticed compared to XPKH1/KH2:
Several visual changes (such as when you first start there is no "blue screen" - just the icon informs about the configuration, the browser strips are gray, the colors changed in the dialer and calculator to the dark, changed the appearance of the bar when changing volume)
When entering the individual applications are "the transition animations"
When turned off, screen rotation:
Videos are played in a horizontal position
Camera settings are in a horizontal position
It is possible to record movies in HD on the memory card (although in the case of my phone / memory card if the phone catches a few seconds "zwiechy" - in previous versions required a restart)
[Unconfirmed] It seems to me that the work will navigate Route 66 (although I do not know on what basis is the activation - at any rate, you can browse maps and routing works without a license purchased)
The notification settings now appear in the applications from Samsung Apps (do not know if an application uses it and I'm not sure if that was not previously)"
===another info===
Accounts samsung functioning
FW is the most stable release so far.
Samsung apps fast
Some graphical changes (keypad with color Bada 1.2) etc. ..
===some other guy says (unconfirmed)===
Phone will crash if connect to KIES via wifi!
Thanks, stathismes.
This is very useful info for those willing to test this new firmware.
still very unstable. it reboots very often. cant install widgets from sasmung apps. but anyway, its faster.
"zwiechy" - means freezes (plural), this is noun from verb "zawieszać", eng. freeze. It's just polish computer jargon.

Yes, widgets cannot be installed.
Apart from the widgets problem, this version of the bada 2.0 firmwares seems to be the best. No random crashes like the previous versions.
Samsung Accounts is now ok. Over 90% of apps are working.
Install from kies and on mobile is ok. But when you install from mobile, do nothing until installation is over. Otherwise, phone may restart by itself.
SHP works excellently.
Facebook, Twitter, Google WAC, all work fine without crashes nor delay.
Signing in to any apps now is swift without problems.
Though Route 66 license still does not sync automatically.
For one day of use, no crash so far. For this, I am keeping this firmware on my phone till the official release (I uninstalled each of the previous bada 2.0 firmwares after 2 or 3 hours of use).
it reboots almost every 5 minutes when i'm on browser. i cant use it. i prefer kh1.

Hey, how about spoofing apps in this S8500XPKH3 version? Do you guyz think it will be possible? This is the only thing that keeps me from updating now. Not because im a little dirty man (though i may be ) but because Samsung Apps gives me an error when trying to link my visa card.
So any ideas about spoofing?
spoofing didnt work with updated 1.2 much less bada 2
the later 1.2 versions disabled the old way of spoofing.
(the earliest 1.2 versions can spoof)
theres a new method that can be used on the later 1.2 versions which fools kies into downloading paid apps but expect samsung to close that loophole soon enough.
even the new method doesnt work on bada 2 so i guess samsung just has to
fix kies for bada 1.2 newest versions.
i think spoofing is the reason commercial developers are veering away from bada
like furry legends, vampire rush, hero of sparta 2 arent in the samsung apps market anymore.
In many countries, there isnt even an option to buy paid
apps at their respective samsung stores.
samsung is so slow opening the paid apps market in those countries
its one reason why spoofing became a widespread practice.
samsung is partly to blame why spoofing became endemic.
the delays for the paid apps option would push even law abiding citizens
to look for illegal alternatives.

For example google any game-app for android just add androids app extension "apk", just like with iPhone extension "ipa". Even more Android almost allowed it by adding support for unknown source app instalation.
90% of aplication unfortunaly means that sigic maps doesn't work. :/
Or meaby it's just mine problem?
Bada 2 looks great form me it is much faster than Android OS i've seen, for exammple on galaxy S , do not mention devices with worse CPU :/ ( galaxy S has 1 GHZ processing Unit )

You can't compare the user base of Bada to that of iOS or even Android... orders of magnitude more users in, in general, much richer countries than that of Bada (no offense towards poor countries, of course).
BTW, XPKH3 for Wave II is also out: http://hotfile.com/dl/127455538/1e3f8b5/S8530XPKH3.rar.html
Just downloading and flashing - want to see whether the official 2.0 SDK works with it (with beta 2, it didn't).
Downloaded an upgrade to Skype today, and included was a bunch of new devices, that got videocalling with the upgrade. Among others was the Iconia A500, but of course no A100. ARGHHH!!!
After a couple of weeks of owning the A100, I'm more than happy at the size and speed of this little tablet, but it's getting to be really tiresome, that most of the cool new games and apps I find in the Market aren't compatible with the A100
Even some TABLET APPS aren't compatible.
And this is just the apps openly state they aren't compatible. With some of them, you won't find out until you either open it, and a message tells you that your device isn't compatible, or it just plain crashes on you...
(To further the confusion, in some cases you can download a demo from Tegrazone, but when you try to buy the full game after happily playing the demo, Android Market tells you, that the game isn't compatible with your device.... WTF?!?!)
Who's fault is this exactly? Is it Google that messed up? The developers that are just plain lazy? Or is Acer somehow to blame?
(I noticed that most apps report my screen in the A100 as being 600*976 pixels. Is this somehow the problem for at least some of the uncompatible apps!?)
And more importantly, what can I as a user do? Shoot off some friendly emails to developers? Or can a root or somekind of hack help solve the problem?
Opinions, suggestions?
Video still isn't working on Skype for the A500, so you're not missing much!

Errr, yes it is (on A500/A501)! If you took 10 seconds to search you'll find in the skype parameters the possibility to turn on video (it isn't by default) and it works, I've just spent an hour on skype video, you can choose which camera you want to use, everything works perfectly. Sorry for being off topic but I just wanted to clarify what the person above me said...

Those options do not exist in HC 3.2 on the A500.
In mine stock 3.2 non root exist. Is in settings at the skype application. But you need the last skype update. I just finished a video conference right now and it worked great. Try again.
Alright, on 3.2 Rooted, but the rom that has all the bloatware and everything pretty much intact Skype does not do video calls or show ANY of the video options in the settings.
I reverted back to a backup of 3.1, and the app DOES do video call, and show the video call settings.
I don't know what your doing Kekinash, but you've got a magical tablet.
That's weird, my A501 on 3.01 stock rom with root is compatible with skype video calls.

This is both an opinion as well as a suggestion...
Be patient
Unfortunately the 7" and 8.9" sizes are 'new territory' for HC apps. Devs worked to get apps compatible with/to 10" screens and the associated resolutions that run on that size primarily for their tablet-only applications. In the same way devs for phone (1.5-2.3) apps have been working to make their apps scale up for tablet use, I'm sure HC-only app devs are working quickly to make their apps scale to smaller tablet screen sizes and those new resolutions. Even if the resolutions are already supported, afaik there's an issue in 3.2 causing them to crash when paired with 7" screens either way.
So when I say be patient, I mean hold out a bit longer and I'm sure things will be up to spec. On one hand you'll have the quicker devs fixing their apps to work well with smaller screens/different tablet resolutions and worse case scenario, you know it's all coming together anyway for ICS and at that point, everything SHOULD work.
Edit:
And friendly emails to devs let me tell you, do tend to get the job done. Especially when the app is popular. I use Getglue and was frustrated that it wasn't after quite a long time, not changed to be compatible with 3.0.1. I wrote a friendly email to the dev. asking for a Getglue for Tablets because I really loved the app and I sit with my tablet beside me more so than my phone now at home, etc. etc. and I got a response from my team saying that the app was unfortunately no longer compatible, but to use the mobile site. This was in July. Then roughly a few weeks or so later, voila! Fix'd. So it never hurts to let them know what's up.
most apps work in my stock A100
So far I have had no problems with the apps I use and have downloaded or even pay for. Skype now does video calls perfectly, the only app that was crashing a lot was a spell checker tha I did uninstall and replaced with an other one that has no problems.
Just checked, and the video options DID turn on in Skype.
Along with a little warning that it might not be supported, blah blah...
So I got to use the front camera for the first time today
Dunno if it's just me but it seems not all the apps I could/can see on my A500 appear on my A100. Same gmail account. For a while I couldn't find Facebook on the market.
Yeah, there would be a lot of apps for the A500 that aren't compatible with the A100 I can imagine.
Best way to check, is to go in to the www version of the market, then you can see all apps, no matter if theyre compatible or not. If you have several devices, the www market tells you which one of your devices an app is compatible with. I wish there was a similar feature in the market app.
BUT! On the bright side, I DID get around to rooting my A100... You think that might make a difference in regards to apps? Is there some kind of workaround available now that its rooted?
I just activated cam on my A100 and it is working fine.
?? Does Skype update automatically???

Skype is working too here...
Skype works well
Acer Iconia Tac A100-- Skype Video works great.!
mine is working with no problems also.

my Wife has the Iconia Tab 7" and when she gets incompatibility issues, all I do is side load the app. example, American Express app says its not compatible with her device. I just copied it from one of my Android devices and Bluetooth it to her, she installs it and it works 100%
sometimes the market place is just wrong. when I want an app even though the market says NO, I find the .apk from somewhere and install it. on my Galaxy Tab 10.1 Gameloft says their game Lets Golf 3 doesn't work....BS, Ive been playing this game for a month now with ZERO issues.
