Reboot after nandroid backup taking forever? - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Wondering if anyone else is having this problem.
I've done two Nandroid backups on two different Evo's today. One was with Clockwork recovery and one was with Amon_ra. Both seemed to stick on the white htc EVO 4G screen after rebooting.
Both are running Fresh Evo 3.5.01.

The first reboot after a nandroid restore always takes forever. Be patient.

Phone stuck at White Evo 4G screen. Help!!!

I tried restoring a nandroid backup after flashing a different ROM (which didn't work) and now my phone won't get past the White Evo 4G screen. Help?
Also, I'm using Clockwork and had previously done a factory reset (for the new ROM)
Try install a different Rom and see if it will noot, also check to make sure the cache are clear before perform a nand restore. Maybe you need to clear it a few times before doing the nand restore.

I think I figured it out. My other backups were restoring but not this one (earlier today I couldn't download something because my phone was out of memory). I think what happened was the backup wasn't complete because it ran out of space (which would explain why it also finished "restoring" in a matter of seconds).
...ugh, time to redo a weeks worth of customizing
Thanks though, I'll definitely keep those in mind for next time

Stuck on White HTC Evo 4g screen - Recovery Working - ROMS not

Hey all
So i searched and saw people with slightly similar issues, but not the same as mine.
I was hoping anybody could help.
I was having small issues with the rom i was running (CM) and decided to wipe all and go back to a nandroid i had of a previous ROM (Myn 2.2).
I wiped all through recovery and tried to load the Nandroid. It got stuck at the white HTC Evo 4g load screen.
I pulled battery. Went into recovery. Reloaded a seperate Nandroid backup (one that i had restored before with no issues) and had the same issue.
I then went back into recovery, wiped all, and did a fresh install of the Myn rom zip on my SD card (one that i had loaded before and knew was okay). Once again...stuck at the white loading screen.
So here i am. Recovery works, but i absolutely cannot get any ROM's or Nandroid backups to work after restoring/installing. Constantly stuck at the white screen.
Any ideas? I've flashed my phone a million times and this is the first time this is happening.
Thanks in advance everyone.
okay, quick follow up.
I reflashed CM6 and am able to load ONLY CM.
Seems really weird to me. Any ideas why I am unable to get back to other ROMs? I did recently update to the most recent Radio...that's the only physical change to my phone that i made that i can think of.
Thanks again. At least i have a working phone.
I had this issue, RLS4 is based on the 3.30 release. I had to downgrade my NV, PRI, Radio and WiMax to get it running.
You can grab all of these here:

EDIT: Make sure you flash one zip at a time here. I'm not certain if it's okay to do them all at the same time, but I generally hear that can cause issues. It'll ask you to reboot after each one. If you use Amon RA, it'll just reboot into recovery again, not sure about Clockwork.
I was also surprised that my nandroid backups of Myn's from before I flashed 3.70 software update didn't work/revert my software back to 3.30.

I downloaded these ones and flashed them in this order. Each time I'd try to install the ROM after flashing. I didn't successfully flash until after the NV. If I was a good troubleshooter, I would've tried to narrow it down here. Sorry, I'm not sure if it's necessary to downgrade one or all.
EVO_WiMAX_26023_R01
EVO_Radio_2.15.00.09.01
EVO_PRI_1.77_003
EVO_NV_1.77_003
I didn't mess with HBOOT, I was able to install the ROM after I flashed the NV.
I have a same problem
stuck on the white screen, triyed to run the pc36img.zip and its says no image
then I went to recovery it only allows me to run a zip file...What can run as zip
file to get this to load my rom and I dot have nanroid either...
Any help/advise is apprciated!!

[Q] strange evo behavior after car accident

Ok guys I really need your help with this one so I will get to the point. About 1.5 weeks ago I was rear ended and my car was totaled in the process. My evo was sitting on my dash before the accident and afterwards I found it resting comfortably on the passenger seat. After the accident I noticed it was taking a little longer to bring up pictures from the sd card. I decided to nand backup and flash a new rom that the next day and everything went fine. However now that Myn's RLS 5 is out I decided to nand back up and flash it but here where the problem is.
Now every time I try to nand backup it gets stuck when backing up cache and I have to do a battery pull.
Any ideas on what this could be?
I am using clockworkMod Recovery v2.5.0.1
I haven't done much research about flashing a new recovery because everything was working fine until now. Do I just download unrevoked and point it to a new recovery image?

Use rom manager to update your recovery. Hopefully that will get you back on track
Swyped from a galaxy far far away......
Myn roms don't play the best with clockwork, you can also try (also in rom manager) flashing "alternate recover" which will give you ra's recovery. Myn plays better with it.
Ya what he said
Sent from the moon with two tin cans and a very long string
if you haven't already, you might wanna pull then reinsert your sd card as well, Just a thought (after all them G's)

Reboot after nandroid backup taking forever?

Wondering if anyone else is having this problem.
I've done two Nandroid backups on two different Evo's today. One was with Clockwork recovery and one was with Amon_ra. Both seemed to stick on the white htc EVO 4G screen after rebooting. Both are running Fresh Evo as well.
On the first one, I pulled the battery and restarted it, with no problems. On the second, well, it's sitting here right now still on the White screen after about 5 minutes....
***sorry just realized i posted this in the epic forum instead of evo. had both open as i have both phones and posted in wrong section.
When you change roms, your phone has to rebuild its cache and dalvik cache. That is what is taking so long.
Yeah just wait a little after flasing a new rom or restoring because it has to rebuild the dalvik cache

HELP! Problems Resetting Phone to Stock

Okay guys, I have a big problem that likely has a quick fix...
I recently got an EVO 4G LTE, and I want to trade my EVO 4G in to Sprint. It was recommended that I go back to stock, and that I do a factory reset (I was on CM9). So I use AmonRa and factory reset the phone. I then do a nandroid restore back to the stock ROM, and then pull my SD card out to put in my new phone (I didn't think it was needed after restoring). Now I can't get past the EVO 4G white screen... 10 minutes later... Is there something on that SD card that is needed to start this bad boy back up? Can I just copy some files over through AmonRa via my computer and get this problem fixed? Thanks everyone! I'll miss this forum!

just flash an RUU from bootloader. I have never tried to restore stock sense from nandroid so I am not sure if this is the issue or not. Flashing the RUU has always worked for me.

I've never used an RUU. I downloaded one, but how do I use it?

there are a few places to look to get back to a stock, unrooted evo.
it depends on how you rooted in the first place. The new HTC-dev method or Unrevoked.
if you used unrevoked to gain s-off look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16949711&postcount=15
or here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=780141&highlight=unroot
the seccond post walks you through both methods.
thanks to Captian_Throwback and DjR3z for the walk through and links...
