Hello I just rooted my Epic for the first time and everything went very smoothly! However I'm noticing when I reboot the phone there is a banner logo that shows up vertically on my screen during boot, it appears over top of the Galaxy S logo animation and the Sprint animation... is this normal? Why is it showing up?
Thanks
The kernel your using its set up got custom boot animations. The rom your using don't have a custom boot animation

A LLOOONNNGG time ago I used a more primitive method and ADBed a boot animation, it never worked, just a black screen. Since the I could never get a boot animation working with SlideMeRoot5r.
When I flash other ROMs the animations work fine. I just flashed the simple droid boot and nothing. Any help?

Hi,
Is there an easy way to change the first splash screen (the White background with green HTC writing - it appears as soon as the phone is powered up before the boot animations)
I have used root manager and found the splash gif (found in system/customize/resources)
I have removed the gif but it still comes up on power up.
I am using the stock Rom, phone is rooted etc.
Any ideas?

there is an app called splash screen creator(or something like that)....it can be used to change the splash screen.....just find the apps' thread and follow it's instructions

Please forgive my noobishness. I've been reading and learning and reading and learning and just when I think I learn how to do something it doesn't work at all. I guess that just goes with the territory.
Anyway, I was running the Blazer ICS rom but I recently flashed the Blazer 4.0 to check it out (it is AMAZING). I wanted to see if I could change to boot animation. The rom came with the generic Galaxy S2 animation. I have the jellybean animation and a transformer animation on my sd.
I flashed the jellybean animation in recovery and when I rebooted it showed a split second of it and then was just a black screen until the phone booted. Unhappy with that, I flashed the transformer animation and then when I rebooted it showed the same split second of the jellybean animation and then was a black screen until the phone booted.
At this point I decided to just screw it and attempted to go back to the generic animation that came with the rom. I went into system/media/ and in there was a zip of the JB animation and a zip of the Transformer animation. I deleted them both and rebooted my device.
This time the phone booted with an animation I'd never seen before. It was just a basic android logo that shimmered left to right. Where in the heck did that come from? Can someone please enlighten me on how to get an animation file working properly?
I thought I read somewhere that you can place an animation file in media/ and rename it, or something along those lines. Should it be a zip file? Should I delete one of the two "samsung boot" files? Which one?
Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Update: I figured it out. There was an extra boot animation zip in media/ that I didn't see. I deleted that and dropped the Transformer one in there and renamed it "sanim.zip". Works perfectly now. Thanks.

For replacing bootanimations yes you are correct, just rename the animation.zip to sanima.zip and delete the other boot animations that are there. And Blazer does have custom boot animation support so, you should be fine. That android logo you saw is a default boot animation when you don't have a custom one installed.
awesome glad you got it working.
I found a mod what changed my boot animation to a custom one. Anyway, I done loads and they all worked great. However one of them made my phone soft bricked. It had no animation and I had a blank screen for hours. I flashed stock and it got stuck on the blue glow Samsung logo. I got it working after a while but I want to know what actually happened because I thought that if the boot didn't work, it would just boot without a animation.

Hello guys.
I have a tiny problem on my G3.
My G3 is rooted and running a custom rom, it runs perfectly.
The problem is somehow my boot animation and brand logo have vanished. My phone boots with a black screen, therefore i cant go in my TWRP recovery. The boot is completely black, after that the OS runs without any problems.
I think something happened after i installed a custom theme on cyanogenmod and it replaced my boot animation, but i don't know why the brand logo doesn't appear. I ended up deleting the whole boot animation.zip on system/media tho the problem still consists.
If anyone could give me an insight that would be wonderful. Cheers. :good:
