This will sound daft, and I apologise, I feel like I'm halfway competent in this, but not 100% sure!
My current phone settings are as follows:
Android Version: 2.2.1
Baseband version: 12.28e.60.140ffU_26.04.02.17_M2
Kernel version: 2.6.32.21-g3d0aaff
Build number: 1.72.405.3
Software number: Android Revolution HD 2.0.4 by mike1986
Browser version: Webkit 3.1
So is there anything that I'm missing mainly? I am unsure of the 1.72 OTA ROM has been installed - I assume so, cos I have a build number which is the same - or is that just a coincidence?!
Am I missing anything in any of these areas that would improve my user experience? Apologies for such an open ended question, and I hope I don't get open ended replies
Thanks
Everything seems to be fine. You're running Android 2.2.1 with software build 1.72.405.3. The OTA has been applied successfully.
Thank you
It's just reassuring to know I'm there or there abouts.
I've "thanked" you for being so kind to reply to me

Hi. I have 2 x Desires: 1 for my wife and 1 for me. Both bought from MobilePhonesDirect on TMobile. They are both slightly different so I checked the software version it is running and they both have different:
kernel version:
build number:
software version:
How can I update them so they are both the same? Will the Froyo update that is coming update all 3 sections?
Thanks in advance.

Is there any particular reason why you want to do this? If I were you, I wouldn't worry too much about it at this stage.
At I guess, I'd say you've probably ended up with one generic unbranded phone, and one actual T-Mobile one - does the Internet icon look the same on both phones?
If you post the actual version numbers for both of your phones, we should be able to provide some more information.
Regards,
Dave
Thanks Dave and sorry for the delay but I wanted to wait until both phones had been updated to see if they became in sync. Alas.... anyway the version numbers are:....
Mine
Kernel version: 2.6.29-0cb9f166
Build: 1.21.405.2 CL174215 release-keys
Software: 1.21.405.2
Wife
Kernel version: 2.6.29-54b7033a
Build: 1.21.110.4 CL175581 release-keys
Software: 1.21.110.4
Can you shed any light on the disparity? Also if is as you think, that my wife's is locked to TMobile - could you point me in the right direction of a tool/instruction to unbrand it - the same as mine. I have had a quick look and it all seems more convuluted than with my old Winmo device.
Thanks again.

Hey, yeah the difference in build numbers - Precisely ".405" and ".110" show that they are different un/branded handsets - You will either need to root or use a goldcard to unlock the T-Mo handset.
Goldcard: Link
Rooting: I think there's a thread in the dev section of the Desire forum
I post this message for my friend whose account isn't yet verified.
Hello,
few months ago I tried to root my Desire with my friend, but it didn't seem to go according to plan and we thought that this isn't working and decided to leave the rooting process.
However, now I'm not able to update it to Android 2.2 OTA, and not even by manual update.
So if you guys could tell me what's the problem because i don't have a clue.
I'll write down the software information if it helps, could this Desire be rooted now anyway? And if it is, what should i do?
Firmware version:
2.1-update1
Baseband version:
32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2
Kernel version:
2.6.29-82821fb5
[email protected]#1
Build number
1.21.405.1 CL172503 test-keys
Software number:
1.21.405.1
Browser version:
WebKit 3.1
Thank you for your help!
It may be solved now, titanium backup is working when i installed busybox. So my phone is rooted and thats why i can't get OTA updates
1>What are these below information:
Firmware Version: 2.1 update1
Baseband version: 32.36.00.28U_4xxxxxx
Kernel Version: 2.6.26xxxx [email protected]
Build Number: 1.19.911.5 XXXXX
Software number: 1.19.911.5
Browser version: Webkit 3.1
And what is my BootLoader?
2>My Desire from South Korea. When i choose update by FOTA as the guide by click on Software Update>Check now. It tells me that my software is updated with the new version already and does nothing. Why?
3>How to know whether my Desire is rooted?
4>When running Android Market app installed in my Desire, i just received the list Top Free and Just In for each category but i want to find out more paid apps, how would i do that? By the way, the installed Android Market app is difficult to search with, some apps i cannot find (although some android websites prefer them), is there any other app do better job?
5>What is different between ship ROM and cook ROM? If i upgrade to ship ROM for 2.2 and after that i could installed cook ROM or must downgrade to 2.1 to installed cook ROM?
6>I know it's ridiculous to request you to suggest me which ROM is the best for my Desire because of the rule of this forum (i should try every ROM and choose the best for myself), but it's so scared of damaging my mobile. So please help me to choose the best ROM for it.
Thanks alot
OK,
Being mega-thick here but I flashed/rooted my Desire a while back, and now thinking I should update to see if I can improve my shocking battery life.
BUT, I'm stupid and forgotten what ROM I flashed, but want to stick with it. I think its OpenDesire, but cannot really tell.

Anyone got any ideas or another way of working it out so I go with updating the right ROM?
That is the official FroYo WWE build, albeit one below the current version
Yours - 2.09.405.8

I have already used factory reset and used this RUU: RUU_Ace_HTC_WWE_1.32.405.6_Radio_12.28b.60.140e_26 .03.02.26_M_release_155891_signed
I still can't update my software. I hope you guys can help me.
If you already used RUU, why don't you simply download lates Sense 3 RUU and flash it again? There is a link somewhere on the forum...
I've been looking for it for quite some time but I cant find it. All I find is roms based on stock rom.
i wanna get the original stock rom which i would get through an automatical update though.
Well if you are willing to loose all data (if you use automatic backup/restore, everything will be back to way it was by itself, except the SMSes) you can use official RUU found here:
