I'm sure i'm missing a little checkbox somewhere in settings, but this is driving me crazy. Every time i use the power control in the notification pulldown (CM 6.1.1 w/cyanoginger 1.1) the pulldown closes automatically. I use these constantly when i'm going to work (to toggle lockscreen, volume, wifi, etc) and having to re open it after each toggle is a pain.
Anyone have an idea of what setting i'm overlooking?

ps- yes i used search looked through several pages and didnt see anything so i apologize in advance if i missed it. Thanks in advance for being courteous.

Yes there is a setting go to settings, cyanogenmod settings, user interface, and I'm pretty sure if you scroll down it let's you pick the widget buttons as well as check whether the notification bar closes after toggle.

Any way to do this on the EVO? Any ROMs or mods/.zips that enable this? I did a search and all I could find was info about Galaxy S phones where apparently this feature is stock.
Basically you just drag your finger along the notification bar to change the screen brightness, left for dimmer, right for brighter. This would be awesome to enable on the EVO, but as far as I can tell it hasn't been implemented.
Myn's RLS5.
Yes.
Settings > CM Settings > Interface > Notification Power Widget
Scroll down to toggle brightness.
Edit: You should be able to find a similar config on myn's.
Can't find a similar option on Myn's... I'll give CM another shot at some point, but it'd be sweet to have this on a Sense ROM.
for CM, it's more a toggle button than a scrolling thing.. but i use it often, and you can change the setting on how it toggles.
overall, pleased.
you could by creating a widget.txt file then rearranging what you would prefer on the pcw (up to 6 options) and placing it in a file on sd, then from your apps theres should be a pcw app that you can adjust the brightness settings.

edit: i read past the part about sliding to adjust..i haven't seen any yet.
theres this app i used to use called quick settings (from market) from settings allow it to be accessed from pull down, hit it and have brightness (and others) as an option.

Quick settings is exactly what I've been looking for. Thanx x100!
This would be a killer feature to include on a future AOSP build. The only ROM I've used that has a feature like this is MIUI, which happens to be amazing.
The brightness slider, as well as many other toggles, are found in the notifications menu.
It took me some time to get used to the lack of an app drawer, but I quickly got over it.

Is there any place to change what options are on the Power Control widget? I've found settings to be kind of a pain on this phone so far...
I was having problems setting up Google Voice to control my voice messages. I kept getting "network is not currently supported for automatic set up". All I wanted to do is find where in the settings menu the Voicemail setting was...Why did they hide it in with the "Phone" app rather then in the actual phone settings menu? Took so long to figure that one out lol...
Yeah moving the voicemail was kind of silly. You can customize whats on the power widget by using a app named Widgetsoid.
https://market.android.com/details?...rch_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS5qaW0yIl0.
No really, not a different customizable widget...
Is there a way to change the settings on an already configured Power control widget?
I used to go about adding a new widget and deleting the old one, but that gets tedious.
I thought I found the existing widget settings somewhere when I updated to cm7.2 but now I cannot for the life of me find it ANYWHERE
I just want to choose different brightness toggles, but I do not want to go through all of the data / wifi / sync combos again...

I'm on Verizon and it doesn't support automated setup but when I clicked the help it told me to dial *something and that fixed it right up.

Just use something like widgetsoid. The stock Power Control widget has its 5 toggles and can't be changed.
Answered my question!

Thank you for the answer to my question.. I wish the setting could be changed so you didn't have to install another widget control bar.
Question #2: Is it safe to remove the Original Power Control widget .apk so I can get rid of unused apps?
Thanks!

Hi all,
I have a HTC Desire Z running Audacity Beta 4 (+++)
As far as I can tell, there's no way of configuring a volume toggle in the lockscreen unlike previous ROMs which had this by default. I've seen posts in the Audacity development thread (pages 409-) describing how to add the camera to the lockscreen, however I want to reverse this and re-enable a mute/sound toggle on the lockscreen. I've been into the system->settings->lockscreen but that offers no volume toggle options under apps or activities.
I'm currently working around this by using "Mute" but this seems to be an ugly fix to what seems to be a missing system option.
Does anyone have any better solution or ideas?
Thanks in advance

Well, since you can't disable access to the notification bar, you can use the toggle there.
I just looked into this myself and you're right. I did find a workaround though. If you have Tasker you can make a task that switches toggle states and then bind that task to a lockscreen slot with Task Cut (selectable on the first page).
Granted that won't update your icon, but it's something.
As mentioned above though, you can also toggle it from the power widget in the notification drawer.

Thanks for the responses. As Tasker isn't free I'll stick with the "Mute" app and add that to the lockscreen for now.
The whole point of this was so that I don't have to unlock on the way in/out of appointments etc... I can just wake the screen and swipe left to mute/unmute the phone. Granted it's not a huge amount of effort to unlock and use the power widget in the notifications screen, but it is an extra step and we're all about efficiency (or idleness!)
It just seems odd to me that this should be something that's inbuilt on the lockscreen, but I guess the developers take a different view nowadays. (It would be nice to have options for both camera and mute in the lockscreen options)
I'd like to have a go at creating an app to do this for myself.
Can anyone recommend any threads on how to start development - I'm reasonably ok with programming though I'll freely admit that java's object orientation will be a bit of a learning curve. I'm hoping that this will be a relatively simple task - All I want to do is to mute/unmute from the lockscreen without changing anything else...
I've found these bits of code to play with:
http://stackoverflow.com/a/7318028
http://stackoverflow.com/a/10921268
but where do I start in trying to create an app around this and packaging it? adb? Can anyone point me in the right direction? I'm looking for an "android how to write apps" or something like that...
Thanks in advance
[edit] - found the android developers pages now and am starting "my first app" - If anyone has any hints and tips though, they'd still be appreciated. Thanks
Good afternoon,
i'm using JellyTime (based on CyanogenMod 10 and so JellyBean) and i really like Profiles, that i use to mute my phone and turn off network interfaces.
I'm only annoyed by the fact that the "fastest" way to switch between profiles is using the power menu, that is really unconfortable.
Isn't there a way to add a quick profile switch button to the notification bar or something like this?
Thank you!

I think you can add a launcher shortcut to Trebuchet, I'm not sure (last time I ran JellyTime, it had no camera xD).
If not you can try Silence (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.epsilonlabs.silence.ads) maybe that's what you'd need?

I'm using Nova Launcher, not Trebouchet. I Nova there is no way to add a shortcut to Profile switch. Anyway, it would be kinda uncomfortable too, because i would need to unlock my screen and then launch the shortcut to change a profile.
I've took a look at Silence (thank you) but it doesn't do all the stuff that Profile can do (and i don't like installing apps for something the ROM can do by itself). Silence can't switch on/off the 3G and has some problems activating airplane mode.
I'll stay with Profiles for now
Sorry if this exists somewhere else (I exhausted my search keywords and couldn't find it).
I am a recent convert to the ZL side and, for the most part, really like the phone. One thing, however, that I really liked from the Samsung Galaxy device I came from (and even the iPhones before that) was the quick way of locking screen rotation. Is there a way to bring that functionality into my ZL? On the Galaxy Note I had, all I needed to do was bring up the notification slider and select Screen Rotation lock. On the iPhone, if memory serves, I doube-tapped the home button and went all the way to the left and select the lock icon. On the ZL, I have to go into the settings, then into the display setting, then click on the Auto-Rotate screen option.
I appreciate any advice.
Thanks!
Install this and select the rotation toggle and check the others.. They are cool.

I recommend installing "ScreenRotate (Small App)"
It will add rotation toogle to small apps bar (which shown when you press task switcher button).
Its more convenient that having to pull down notification bar, take space in notification area or having to go to homescreen to use widget.

Dude why don't you try the app I told you few posts above? It does have that option too and it's great... It doesn't take much space on the notification place... Look.

Sorry missed your post. That's an awesome app I always searched for notification toggle apps but they were always super ugly, missed some toggles or didn't work with the notification bar!
If only it could be be above the time and I wish the icons were smaller just like stock toggles.
Maybe I cam charge them myself
