Most AOSP-like ROM?

Im not talking about VaelPak and Frost rom i mean like Cyanogen, but not with all the modded stuff. Like a very stock AOSP based rom. I want to be very clear i do not want something with an HTC base with sense removed. I use cm6 nightlies but think there could be something more basic with less of the extra frills of cm6. I do not know if anything like this exists other than Emerald rom and Cm. Please and thank you.

I'd like to be very clear as well, how about searching and/or posting in the proper forum....

Naw idk because cm6 doesn't have that "froyo" home, and there are a few changes that would probably require some code to get rid of. There is a hero Rom that's pure stock maybe we can get something like that.

Second, grammar is used for when you're writing/typing, not when you're speaking.

Snandlal you sound like a complete douche; people can make mistakes it isn't the end of the world and I don't see any admin making a big deal about it so please quit making a scene you're an xda member, act like it.

If the majority of new users were making this mistake, we should probably look at how the forum is displayed. But, it isnt. The select few that dont pay attention. Those same type of people are the ones making you wait in traffic cuz they hit someone causing an accident. Seriously, this forum is so easy to use and if they cant do that right...

[Q] Differences between Fresh Evo and Sprint Lover's?

I've used both ROMs and they're awesome, stable, and fast. Beyond a few differences, though, nothing really different sticks out to me except that Fresh doesn't use the Sense launcher.

You are not going to get flamed because you are not asking which one is better, you are going to get flamed for posting this in development, and it is your first post? You indeed are asking a question so this belongs in the forum called Q&A, it has nothing to do with development. Mods, please move.

Sprint Lovers
For the most part both are quick and work fairly seamlessly. I prefer Sprint Lovers personally but that's me. I think as a whole it works smoother, but that's an aesthetic thing. Both give you what you want out of a custom rom, wifi tethering and all that. Fresh has issues with clockworkmod recovery though, need AmonRA in order to use properly. Personally this irritates me but I don't really see it as a problem. The one nice thing I found in Fresh that came with it automatically was the file manager it provides however all you need is ASTRO with Sprint Lovers and you're good to go. Fresh is more customizable for the average user I suppose but if you are comfortable with adb and SDK then you should be able to customize on your own anyway (look into themeing and how it's done properly before you attempt to do anything and by all means don't mess with .9 files unless you have an understanding of how they work) Other than these issues I didn't find any major differences but have my preference as you can tell. Try some others out too though, some people like Cyanogen's stuff. Good luck.

To the MODs

Hi all.
Why not merge the "Original Android Development" forum with "Android Development".
On "original" theres only 4 thread alive. AOKP, CM10, CM9 and now Trinity Kernel which is for TW.

I agree, it just simplifies things to have them separated. I'd hate sorting through countless tw roms just to find the one aosp rom I'm looking for. Once cm10 becomes more stable, expect a flood of different aosp roms.

then why is Euroskank (AOKP rom) in the normal development area?

Original development is for original work. Something that was not built from several other projects. All development is amazing, so I'm not taking any sides, but it is a delicate matter to touch on for a lot of people. Basically, xda wants to seperate what they see as original, new development as opposed to ROMs built from several improvements from several ROMs or ports of other peoples roms....so you can see why its a sensitive subject

Original development is for the cutting edge, brand new, unseen roms/kernel for a device. Those are mainly source built stuff(aokp, cm, paranoid) including kernels.
Normal development is for everything else that not original. Stock based ROMs, ports, etc. They are mainly more stable then original development roms.
If someone were to bring over HTC sense here, that'd be in original development asap. We(xda) are trying to give users better access to the best possible rom/mods/kernels without having to dig through a bunch of the same stuff.

i dont see whats not so "quality" about my post. this is the way most everyone wants it. you have quite some audacity to make a request for the mods to restructure the entire dev section and force everyone else to learn where the original **** is at your request. with that type of selfishness, you're right, xda should verify the age of their members.

Advice on choosing a bare bones ROM

I'm setting up a DInc2 for my technically challenged mother. I'd like to install a ROM that is easy to understand and straight forward. But my biggest concern is that the ROM be extremely de-bloated and very stable. I would appreciate recommendations as to which custom ROMs would be best suited given these parameters.

To answer your question, go with cm7. Its super light weight, and can't really go wrong with it.

Should this rather have been posted in the General section? Since this involves custom ROMs I figured this was the place, but I'll be glad to abandon this and ask in the General section if that is appropriate.

Run skyraider Zeus 1.3 or andybonestock.
Download titanium.
Remove all unwanted apps.
I would recommend sense roms since the phone was made for it. Also the camera works better on sense. I personally h8 sense, but if your goal is to avoid hearing complaints, go sense & debloat manually.

From what I've been told we they are really close, but again they aren't going to put anything out that doesn't work fully so as for a real time frame, when everything works and they feel it's ready for mainstream consumption

Why don't you look in the dev forums. That's where it'll be posted

questions aren't the problem we love to help and inform on anything we know. but asking for an eta when there are already tons of discussions on this and when there have already been multiple posts saying don't bug the devs, thats a problem

I'm not bugging the devs...I was asking the community in general? Its just I came from the Nexus S which had well over 100 roms to the Optimus which only has 2. So I have just been confused why there aren't a few more for this device which is much better than my nexus. Im not even asking for ETA's mainly just if anyone knew about more roms being made. I probably should have worded it more clearly.

jbrooks58. We don't mean to be harsh. You came from a nexus, a device that have open source to a device that is branded by LG running LG software. It takes time to develop for getting around minor hurtles may take weeks unlike on a nexus our dev community works hard and we now have a flashable JB zip. Things are in the works but there are a few things that still need fixed.

Thank you for explaining! I didn't realize one was more open than another. I thought all Androids were open. I still have much to learn. Thanks for clarification.

I see both sides of this coin, since i kinda just went through the same thing. I understand that he was just asking a question, but on the other hand there are probably over 10 discussions with the answer he is looking for.
But on the other hand, you are newer than me even, so welcome to the community, try to read and search before asking questions, and try not to double post either, just edit your last post if no one has replied.

The name calling is uncalled for, especially when you're taking advantage of the work that these people are putting in. This community has enough negativity as it is, and we certainly don't need any more.
Egos aside we're all on the same team here. Either appreciate the work or give constructive advice/suggestions. Enough of the insulting.

Also, alot of the reason we only have 2 roms was because we were stuck on ICS. Not many people want to develop on an older OS, expecially when we knew there was an update right around the corner. So it was the waiting game. Now that JB has been released, and the source code has been dropped, this place will start lighting up. This is one of the best phones out right now, and it will start getting attention. So for now, research, read, contribute what you can, and enjoy the ride.

In all honesty none of those thread touch on how close we are to being AOSP, so his question is relevant. In every thread you get the same answer, either "we have already answered that question", "when it is fully ready to go", "were still testing things so it's going to be a few more weeks". I want to make it clear that I'm not complaining, And am very happy with what you guys are doing, but if we had a little better information about what is going on and what the problems are maybe people would stop posting so much.

If you want to know anything about ROM's/AOSP, go to the IRC. They constantly are talking about it on there.
