Is there a theme available or something to change the stock JPY rom to have transparent notification bar and menu?

Although a fully transparent statusbar and dropdown sound like a great idea, it's not a good solution in the long-run. You will find problems with the statusbar when running certain apps and text on the notification dropdown will be unreadable in some situations depending on what's running in the background.
Of course I may be proven wrong but that's my experience so far.
here is my stock jpy with transparent notif. bar and more colorfull signal and wifi , etc., and percents in the stock battery icons.
need to be rooted and copy over into /system/framwwork with root explorer after changin system to r/w also make sure youhave room in /system by default you dont.. you will have to remove a couple of the apps or widgets in /system/app
recommend you copy a backup of your original framwork-res.apk to sd or external sd first .. also will fc stuff after copy .. reboot right away
again only for jpy dont try on other f/ws

It works out! The bar is transparent now, but is it possible to make the menu
transparent as well? Please help me out with with issue, thank you!!!
P.S.: There is a tiny bug of this mod, which the battery icon cannot display
the power status correctly.
Thanks for that, works fine, shame menu isn't transparent as well. Only works with touchwiz though (and touchwiz gtg launcher mod) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=822523

that is not really a bug.. that is the way the stock icons and battery level work.. ie it displays the 40% battery icon when you are between 31 and 40 or whatever.. You just notice it now becuase the icon has the actuall percentage on it..
as for the transparent notification pulldown i can do it if someone can tell me the .png files that need to be replaced and give me a copy to them or a link to a framework with the transparent ones (from any version)
looked more into the transparent notification and it is not as simple as just modifying .png files.. you also need to modify .jar files and .xml
so probably not going to undertake it..
I have beautiful widgets clock, notification bar, touchwiz dock and app drawer (from Touchwiz gtg launcher) all transparent now, shame about notification menu and menu button menu, these are the only parts that have solid colour now.
Sure I saw some pics somewhere of both menus in transparent
Looks really slick now though.
yes it is possible to do that.. not saying it isnt. but more difficult on a stock rom as much of the stuff is not de-odexed and you most likely will have to do more work just and decompiling and rebuilding the twlauncher and fw files and also cannot just copy over as you need to clear the cache and stuff on install. That is why most are done in complete themes..
i too wish there was a transparent theme with 100 battery icons instead of six or so.. but no other visual changes..
also with the exteneded power menu and 4 choiice lockscreens but there doesnt appear to be such a beast.

that looks awesome installing it now, you should do something with the tab, maybe transparent?
edit...also the notification bar kinda sticks out, I know that it can't be made transparent but maybe something close to it? Cheers
this looks cool... will try it out later on this weekend
Nice even though I don't really like "Mac" themes its not over Mac. Clean looking. Only thing is I would change the programs tab to something to match the theme or get rid of it all together.
looks great geo! Keep'em coming.
does this work with the modified rc30 or stock lol but im serious

The only reason I made the notification bar that color was so it blends in to the dialer and other parts of the UI when they are open. The notification bar has a slight transparency that lightens the the task bar when its open to make reading the dark letters a little easier. Also I didn't change the tab because I wanted it to match with the tab on the dialer, when I tried modding the images in the dialer I got force closes every half second. I'll try doing that image from the dialer again to see if it works, maybe I did something wrong the first time around.

I have one small suggestion, I think it would look cool. You know how mac's have the transparent box thing under the icons, like manup has on his theme, here is a picture:
http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc228/MANUP456/1231053174211.png
I am referring to the top part where it has the icons Gmail, email, messaging, IM. You see how it has that transparent box thing, I think that would look cool on this theme to. Just a suggestion you might wanna look into Keep up the good work!

I have no idea, but you can try to just strip the background away and leave it transparent an make sure your custom icons are Centered correctly. I haven't had the problem you're having but in theory the transparent method might work.

this
if you just make the icon bg's transparent then they will still look fine if you change your notibar color (unless u change it to white )
OR
you could open up one of the icons that does match the notibar and copy/paste that gradient to the one you need to fix
also, I don't know if this would create a problem but I always make sure to save icons and such as "save for web and mobile devices" in photoshop

I did try to copy onto a gradient icon that did work. For some reason it still came out wrong as you see on the image.
"save for web and mobile devices" would this help with image size? Currently they are coming out nearly triple of stock. example stock icon=1.31kb modded icon=3.97. I'm sure stripping the gradient will help but is still huge compared to stock.

i use cs5 fireworks for editing all pngs and no change for editing .9's. like neb said you can either find each add'l file and redo filter repeatedly through all the bg's or you can just make them transparent like neb said. I'm loving it!!!
This thing is frakin amazing!!
Ok so I took out everything except for what I needed. No gradient nothing else left but the white notification icon. Then exported it with "save for web & devices" (this helped on file size thanks) Now what its doing is, icon appears correctly when its slide down into position, but then the icon stock background color gets added on (wrong gradient). Its so quick but I can see it happening.
On the plus side some did change like all battery icons and wifi, but the rest seem to be doing what I explained above very frustrating. Ive attached one of the icon's that I'm working on if anybody whats to help me out.
Rom Fresh 0.3 if that helps any.
Here's a quick morph of joshuas_79's Inspira theme for D/S.
notification bar, popups, font, and a few widgets.
I'll probably add more later if people like it.

It doesn't do anything to the power widget in the notification bar.. I just have mine set to white.
As for the notification bar, what rom are you running? It might have just not stuck.
Just a suggestion, please update the Instruction if this requires De-odexed ROM. Some people may load it and get a boot loop.
Thank for the work.

I'm about to upgrade, just woke up. I'll check it out.
Edit: I'm not having any issue with fonts. Settings.apk, Torch.apk, & framework-res.apk won't stick at all though, I'm not sure.
I ended up redownloading the zip, framework installed then, but still running into odd issues with the font, stands out the most with application titles. Terminal emulator, sound recorder, and rom manager each have a series of squares in the title as an example.

Hi, I was never a big fan of all-blue themes, so I started to modify SystemUI.apk, basically I took this original mod and started replacing some icons to my liking.
As you can see I only replaced alarm icon and battery icons so far, but I think I will replace wifi and the other signal icons too. Also trying to find a better vibrate mode icon. I might throw in a better bluetooth icon too.
Update: I have now replaced vibrate, bluetooth, airplane and silent mode icons, as well as status bar.
Also, I didn't like the standard grey Gmail notification icon, so replaced it.
For this, you simply need to push modified Gmail.apk to System/App folder, then restart phone, do not try to install. It is version 4.0.1-228551. An update from Market will of course replace this and grey icon will be back.

I have tested this only on THIS 06 Dec Ir5: MCR ROM.
galaxynexusITL41F_BatteryMod.zip - this is original UI (legacy menu button on the right hand side when needed)
ITL41F_BatteryModUIPatches.zip - includes search and menu buttons on both sides add on by paulobrien.
Icons I have used:
EDIT:
Because of the Market promotion, I buy and install a lot of apps these days and didn't like that grey icon either.
Made one myself, so it's not the greatest, but I'll share anyway. If you have a better one, please share and I will replace if it's nice.
You need to move the attached Market app into /System/App folder and restart phone.
Very nice,please add file.
It's uploaded now. I have flashed this myself and so far all is good.
Working great on Android Revolution 1.3.1.
Thank you very much!
Very nice keep up the good work I much prefer the colourful icons than stock ones.
If possible can you make an alternate version which includes pauls search and both sides menu buttons like you did in your other thread as you already know that by installing this mod takes them back to the stock soft buttons (and I dont like them lol) .
Mark.
It's now uploaded, please give it a try, but maybe keep the old one on the phone just in case, if something goes wrong you would simply flash the old one back.
I didn't try this one because I don't like the search button nor options on both sides

I have no idea unfortunately. I took these icons from my collection of custom ROMs which I've been using on my previous phones. I usually take the icons I like and build a theme for myself.
Now messing with status bar... took this from one of the themes I used to use on my SGS2. Add this in for download or not?
Can you please state which mod has the search and menu buttons add on and which one has the original layout?
These types of mods are the icing on the ICS! Great work!

No, you can click on THIS link in my first post and it will link to the modified ROM page. I don't think it would work on stock ROM, I think you need deodexed ROM, but again, I can be wrong.

I can post modified Gmail.apk if someone is interested. Will also add the icon to the list on first post.
Always interested in a bit of colour, like yourself I also don't like the grey icons.
If you post up the apk in the 1st post is it just a case of flashing it over the battery / blue status bar without affecting them?
Also, KUDOS on the blue status bar! Looks awesome! I can see my phone being full of your add ons!

Hello,
I've been searching on google for more than a week now and have tried every single guide I've found. They do not work!
Everything is for this CM7 ROM which has nothing to do with CheckRom.
I've decompiled dozens of SystemUI apks and anything that anyone can imagine.
I still can't get a transparent status bar.
Before I start getting the wrong answers I have to tell you that it has nothing to do with ANY png file inside the SystemUI.apk, simply because the status_bar.xml looks like this:
<com.android.systemui.statusbar.StatusBarView androidrientation="vertical" android:background="#ff000000"
They do not use the images but instead hard code it to a solid black color.
Yes, I've tried to change this. It does make a difference and I was able to get a white status bar for example.
I've tried with transparent code like this: @android:color/transparent
It was the closest I got to transparency since I started getting the ghosting effect on the status bar, but still at the very bottom there was a black background, which does not come from the status_bar.xml file.
I have run out of ideas and this is why I am asking the masterminds here.
Please, help me get a transparent status bar, please!
Current setup:
SGS2
CheckRom v4.0
Go Launcher EX (I've tried with other launchers, I am pretty sure it is not the launcher)
ICS Domination 1.7.2 theme (the theme does not matter since the status_bar.xml file is the same in the original SystemUI.apk that comes with the ROM by default)
Many thanks!
P.S.
I was able to get to this "themed" status bar, but still not transparency

Thanks for your reply!
Space Alien, if you have any luck doing this I would appreciate being sent the result too if possible. A MIUI-like transparent status bar is something I would love to get my hands on for CheckRom.
+ 1000000000 (for checkrom plz)
Try it tonight !
Ask me on my thread plizzz
SystemUI.apk\res\layout\status_bar.xml
line 2 android:background="@drawable/statusbar_background"
lien 20 android:background="@drawable/statusbar_background"
then only make transparent png and replace original in SystemUI vuala
Hi, yes. I did try this. I doesn't work. I am just getting the ghosting effect over a black background. There is a black background which is not coming from line 2 nor from line 20 . This is actually the problem. Another problem is that there is no statusbar_background image in SystemUI.apk at all! If I try to add a new one the apk would not compile anymore.
Anyhow, a small variation of this method got me to my custom background statusbar from the screenshot(I changed one of the LTE images which I will never use, to be my custom statusbar and used the code above to apply it) . But it is still not a transparent one .
Thanks for your reply, we will get there with the combined efforts.
Cheers!
P.S.
Is it possible that some 3rd party app is interfering with this? Jkay Deluxe Settings for example?
I too have tried to get a transparent status bar for weeks now. It was so easy to do on the iphone. I am not sure why its such a pain for android OS.
