I am looking for an app that will notify me when a new rss feed is avaliable.
Something like the email notification icon.
Does any one know of a good one?
Newsrob will allow you to set it up where you get a notification. You can set it up per RSS feed. It uses Google Reader so your going to have to be set up with that.

Anyone know of an app that i can type and post an update to show up automatically on both Tweeter and Facebook pages?
using the build in apps, i need to manually login and copy/paste the message to each app to update both places.
Nice question - interested
I was sure Samsung said they had something prepared for this, but guess not.
Feeds and update widget does this.. one post for both.
The Samsung built-in Feeds and Updates widget does this pretty well. I am using another software called Tweetcaster. It allows you to update to both fb and tweeter.
yes... default feeds widget works perfectly for that here aswell. At the top of the screen there is a FB and Twitter icon which can be checked/unchecked. Check them both and it will update to both sites.
Default samsung app write and go does this as well

You can also use "Write and Go"
Hi everyone,
I was just wondering, as the HTC website talks about having all your news in one place and the benefit that it syncs with Google Reader, I just wanted to see the proper way to set it up, if you can that is.
Are you able to sync Google Reader with HTC News widget?
I had previously exported the feed from Google Reader but as I want to read and add on the go, I would like it to sync new feeds straight back to my Google account instead of having to always use Google Reader app as it does not have a nice handy widget.
If it is possible, do I just need to add Google Reader and activate the sync to run in the background and HTC News will pick it up or will I just meet a dead end.
Thanks
I found that Reader app overwrote the News app's read/unread item states. Now I have only one of them enabled (HTC News app).

Guys
I like evernote but they don't plan to support reminders
Does anybody know of an app that you can add tasks to with reminders but it also syncs to the cloud and accessible via browser? Maybe an app that syncs directly with google calendar?
Thanks

See if you can get in on the beta for this app:

It's basically a calendar app with Evernote integration. It might be what you're looking for,

I tried any.do but the sync between google tasks to the app does not work. When i create a task in google tasks, it never shows up on my phone
I dont like the gmail app, or the google calendar app. What are people using as alternatives? I am basically coming from Note 7 (via an iphone) and I always thought Samsungs calendar and email apps were better.
I use digical+ it looks good and helped me get over Samsung calendar

Lol guys... None of those suggestions is an "alternative app". Two restatements of what he wants to avoid. One statement of a website, not an app!
I myself don't use an email app alternate.
But I like aCalendar+ from app store. It jives with my needs (not a super complicated schedule,) and I use the app for events I plan to attend and appointments. Reminders work well.

I'm using Nine for email, as I have many rules setup for organization but needed an "All Mail" view. For Calendar, I'm just using GMail and APW. I've always used TouchDown when not on HTC devices (HTC has a well built email app of their own that has an all mail view), but decided to give Nine a go with the Pixel and am not disappointed in the least.

Since neither Touchdown or Touchdown HD were working right for me (receiving was fine, and creating/sending a new message was OK but replying or forwarding would just hang), I started using TypeApp and LOVE it.

Type App for email and Event Flow for the calendar.
TypeApp for email. Google calendar because I haven't had any issues with it.
Nine for exchange email for work, gmail for personal email and Business Calendar 2 for all my calendars. I love that calendar program, have used it for past few years.
lemmings love jumping off cliffs..why...everyone else is doing it..
I use Inbox for email and, even after years of using a smartphone, I've still never had a reason to even use a calendar lol
I use Google Calendar and AquaMail.

Try Google's inbox for mail, works really well.
I always try new calendars (and always go back to Google's). give cal calendar or Sol calendar a try.
I use Bluemail. Very feature rich.
I use Boxer email, can view all my email amounts in one combined email and has the option to mark emails as read from the notification (a rare option in a lot of email apps). For calendar I use the Google calendar but interact with it using the "Calendar Widget:Month" widget using a Google theme.
I like both Gmail and calendar, but use APW for my calendar widget
Besides an Xposed mod, which we can't do yet, is there another way to bypass it? Maybe even a different app to setup the exchange account for email? IDK. I hate the restrictions tho lol.

Is this a corporate account? If so I recommend accepting the restrictions and security. If it's your personal account then I know there was an app I used on my S7 that could bypass it I just can't remember the name (not helpful I know).
There's an app called Nine that can apply the security policy at the app level instead of the entire device. It's a paid app and somewhat expensive, I've been using it for years and it works really well.

The app Mailwise does what you are looking for, and it's not too bad of a mail app, either.
I had the same issue, our IT people required remote wipe ability, and obscenely long password requirements just to unlock the screen.

I've been using Nine since my company moved us to a hosted exchange. Don't remember how much it cost me, but definitely worth looking into.
I second the usage of mailwise. it's a pretty good mail application generally speaking..
Mailwise for me too. http://mail-wise.com/faq/#bypass
Oh man, I'm in the same boat. The Exchange security settings for one of my client email accounts is obnoxious. If I enable the account on my phone it will no longer let me use a swipe pattern or pin to unlock the phone. It only lets me use a password. The password also has to have at least four digits, one #, and at least one capital letter. It's absolutely ridiculous. Fingerprint still works, at least. But that's annoying when my phone is on my desk.
So I don't even bother enabling that exchange account on my phone. Instead, I discovered Newton Mail (play store link) a few months back. This has become my go-to email/calendar solution on both my phone and new Windows 10 machine. It's a fantastic email/calendar app that's extremely fast and has material design for Android and fluent design for Windows 10, so it flows really well with both platforms.
The only downside to this is I can't rely on Google calendar on my phone since it won't show meetings/reminders for this Exchange account, since I refuse to enable it within the system. But I've learned to use the calendar built into Newton Mail, which is actually pretty excellent. It even works with the new Google widget for the Pixel 2/2 XL. The widget updates with the upcoming event just like it would with Google Calendar. And clicking the event opens up that specific event in Newton.
I highly recommend giving Newton a try. Especially if you also use a Windows 10 machine.
Thanks for the replies everyone! I'll try some of these suggestions, much appreciated! For the users that have nine, does the calendar show in Google calendar or do you have to go into that app to see it?

Nine is just an email client (like Newton Mail). It doesn't communicate with the Google Calendar app on your phone. It has its own calendar baked in.

Not true. All meetings setup on the corporate side get thrown in to my Google calendar. I actually had to turn off notifications from Nine because I was getting double from Google Calendar.

Interesting! I may have to look into using this myself, then.
Confirmed that nine also syncs the calendar with Google calendar. I've been using it for years. Best exchange app out there for me

Just installed Nine to handle my exchange account. It immediately started syncing to the Google calendar. So happy to be able to use Google Calendar again, now that I can truly see all my events in it.
Nine is the best.
If it is just for the ActiveSync policies, the Exchained app can bypass those and let you keep using gmail.
any update on this guys?

so MAilwise does not work and has stopped developement, need an alternative
Nine Email works great by bring restriction to the app level instead of the device level but it is 15$ , a bit more than I would want to spend
found Email app that works , but does not give notifications of the new emails in the notification bar
Email - Fast & Secure Mail - Apps on Google Play
No More Spam. No More Email Stress. Manage Multiple Accounts. Switch Today
play.google.com
Blue mail works well for fre ewith notifications and no security hurdle
Email Blue Mail - Calendar - Apps on Google Play
Mail support for all email accounts: IMAP, ActiveSync, EWS, POP3
play.google.com
staying with this unless things change..
Any other alternatives? Android 10 here
