Have you tried Titanium Backup?

Titanum Backup will work, that's how I back mine up between very frequent rom flashes.

best way to backup before upgrading rom

hey all, i have a quick question is there a best recommended app by many to backup texts, settings, and everything so when i upgrade my backedsnack rom it was just like before the upgrade? just txts, web pages, etc? thanks a million!
I would reccomend titanium backup up or mybackup pro. Both work great for me

thanks.. i used to use mybackup pro alot. but it kept giving errors and such,, seems like thats been resolved! wooh! thanks for your suggestions
I would also suggest using AppBrain Market. It will help re-sync your apps with the market. Also make sure you do not restore any system settings after the upgrade since this will inevitably cause conflicts with the new ROM.

Backup

Can anyone recommend a decent backup app available on the market? Ive tried sprite backup and when i restored it didnt restore half of my settings or any of my apps.
Looking for something to run a backup and when restored it looks exactly like it did before
Is your phone rooted? If it is then get Titanium, if it's not then MyBackup Pro.
Titanium is by far the best.

Im not rooted yet. want to be 100% confident how i unroot for warranty claims before i take the jump
MyBackup Pro should be fine until you root. Titanium is an investment!

Rooting does scare me more on the samsung. Rooted my HTC desire and it was easy to restore to virgin state.
Thanks for your help with the backup software options
It is all new to me too, just moved from the Nexus One.

Titanium back-up?

Sorry for such a noob question but I've searched and can't find it? I'm upgrading from Captivate to a Galaxy s2. I've done a full back-up via titanium back-up on the captivate. When the S2 arrives, do I just restore it on that or will that not work between different model phones?
From my experience, it does not work properly. The apps reinstall, but the data on some apps does not transfer over. I had to start Stupid Zombies all over again, for example.
Thanks for that. I'll go to my plan b, write down the aps I have currently and just reload them via the market when the new phone arrives
The 75 apps I had on my Desire Z all restored fine onto my SGS2.
I also restored my call list/sms/mms with MyBackup Pro.
If you just want to make a list of your installed apps you can export a list with aTrackDog
I was also able to use all my backups from my desire and restore onto my sgs2 without any trouble.

If I could also ask something...
I had the SGS and now I have the SGS2...I made a backup of everything with titanium backup and after the restore an the new phone the memo app (Samsung notepad app) didn't return my notes which is VERY important to me...Is there a way to open and read my notes??

I suggest you try restoring user apps with data (letting alone system data).
If something goes wrong you can reinstall the specific application.
You can also restore user apps without data if you wish.

I would just reinstall apps no data.
There is also an app called Sharemyapps that you can use to send yourself or friends a list of your apps in email/text etc

[Q] Is there a way to backup a contact's personal ringtone

I love flashing my phone and would love to be able to restore my contacts' right after I flash a ROM. Does anyone know if it is possible?
Please help me!!!!!!!

I know your pain! I had the ringtones restored once but I don't recall if it was titanium that did it or the import that did it. I have since changed how I restore with titanium. Sorry but I honestly don't recall.

Both Nand and Titanium restore ringtone assignments. You can do Advanced Restore Data if you are a flashaholic.

A Google search has found this
you'll probably run into issues when switching roms, if you're going to restore system data everytime.
So far I have settled for a Nandroid backup and mybackup from the market.
Titanium serves the purpose as well. Although I'm not much of a fan yet.

Titanium backup, only use it to backup and restore user apps though, use gapps an google playstore to restore system apps.
