Like the title says, my market application keeps force closing on me. I was on Cyanogenmod 6.1.1, tried a Desire Z sense ROM and decided to restore my CM 6.1.1 back up. Now my market keeps force closing and downloads wont start. Any help on how to fix this?

What version of market r u using?? The latest??

Did you wipe the ROM/cache before flashing ? You should always do so if you're switching between different ROM types.
I was using the latest market with the Sense ROM. Went back to the old one on CM, should I just try flashing the latest one and see what happens?
I didn't wipe before flashing back to CM on my restore (for whatever dumb reason). Guess I'll give both of those a shot, thanks
EDIT: Everything seems to be working now, just had to wipe, wanted to avoid doing that but guess not. Thanks for the advice guys

Hey guys,
I just flashed the CM7 RC, which CM stated to pretty stable and fine for everyday use. I downloaded the RC from within ROM Manager and did a wipe. Install went perfect and everything was as it should be. I then go into Market to download the Google Apps. When I try to open any of these apps though they all force close. I went and tried to download a few other apps(FB, Twitter, etc) and they all do the same. The apps that came with the ROM (Torch, FileManager,ROM Manager) all work fine...
I tried a reboot, but the problems continue.
I guess I'll try to flash again form the SD-Card this time to see if it has the same problems.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Incredible510
Read through the development thread, people are having problems with rc 1 build.
For the time being, im sticking to nightliessince they are stable most of the time.
Ok thanks.
Do you know the differences between the RC and the nightly builds?

From what i have gathered, nightlies continue to be in development wirh new rhings being added. Rc are bundled wirh the most best applicable things and left as is...or to shiw what the final build will look like.
Nightlies continue even after final build most of the time.
A senior member might want to chime in on this as well.
Edit....in newer builds my simeji app seems to be colliding with android keyboard ap via adw launcher...dont know what to do haha.
Apps will FC because its gingerbread. Also this is a known problem with GB and CM7.

Oh ok. So its on the app side.
So i went and downloaded it again, this time flashing from the SD-Card. Everything came up fine, but when I started up I didnt go through a google account setup and theres no market.
Any way to get the market app?
Thanks
Here is the deal, first the permissions are not right when you are getting the FCs. Go into rom manager and click fix permissions. Also I thought this forum had intelligent members .... gingerbread is not to blame for any force closing. It is completely backwards compatible. I am running CM7 RC and it is working after 2 tries and fixed permissions. No problems.

And you forgot to download the Google apps package with your CM7. You will have to redownload and reinstall to get the market back on until they release a separate Google apps add on for GB

Ok thanks, but where is that Google Apps Package download?
It came with the download from ROM Manager, but not when I downloaded it from CM's site(http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/files/file/220-update-cm-700-rc1-inc-signedzip/).
If you could direct me to the download that includes the GApps it would be really appreciated it.
Thanks.

Thank You So Much!
This fixed all problems.
I'm also running CM7 RC1 with zero problems. When I first installed it, I got tons of FC's on the first boot. I rebooted into recovery and did a factory reset. After that, everything has been running fantastic.
Everything has been fine for me running cm 7. Now today, force closes on anything internet related. Browsers, reader, market etc... Have fixed permissions, flashed clean on a factory reset. Any ideas?? Also are there other apps that fix permissions besides rom manager?
Edit: Got everything working off a clean install. Oh and cwrecovery fixes permissions (face palm).
Maybe unrelated but why does setcpu never give an accurate core speed report using the widget? Example: two hours ago I set the CPU to 1113 to test neocore. After the test I idled it back down to 998. The widget never updated and now two hours later it still hasn't updated and it still says its at 1113. The only way to get the widget to reflect my current setting is to remove it and then place it back on the screen.

Hi, I'm running cm7.0 stable and I used titanium backup to restore my apps+data when I flashed this rom. I am continuing to get force closes quite often. I did uninstall and reinstall launcher pro once to see if that would help and it didn't help. I was running WidgetLocker homescreen and disabled that for a bit and it didn't happen as often. Is there anything I can do to correct this? I had read somewhere when installing a fresh rom to not restore data or possibly even apps? If I flash cm7 again over my current one will all apps and settings stay untouched?
I also just read about cm7.0.2.1, should I download this? I do eventually want to step forward as stable releases come out. Will I have to wipe anything again and if I were to download and install the rom through rom manager would all my apps and settings stay untouched?
I noticed Rom Manager also has an updates feature for premium users, is this the nightly updates and not the stable versions? Or is it the same as the stable versions but just updates it rather than flashing the entire rom? Thanks in advance for any help received here!
I was having this same problem earlier today. When restoring with Titanium Backup, you can't use the batch feature to restore any apps...you're going to have to go to the Backup/Restore tab and restore each app you want individually. For some reason the release can't handle the data (which I suppose makes sense because of all the irrelevant system files). (So don't worry about LauncherPro or WidgetLocker, they're not causing the problem.)
To fix it, you're going to need to reflash the ROM (or recover a backup if you made one before you recovered your apps through TB), and then when you want your apps, what you'll end up doing is going into TB, hitting the Backup/Restore tab, and go through the list of apps >> find one you want to restore and click/touch it >> hit "Restore" >> hit "App only".
Also, I would download 7.0.2.1 -- it's the latest release, and as far as I know, it is extremely stable. If you're unsure about certain releases, ROM Manager does have a comment/rating section with each release, and you can get a good idea as to how stable it is there.
I'm not too sure about the ROM Manager/updating question, though, and would be interested in hearing the answer, as well.
Let us know if you have any more questions!
Each rom is different so if your trying to restore system apps from one rom to another it usually will not work especially if your going from say a sense rom to gingerbread. Uninstall the apps that fc and try just restoring the app minus data.. good luck
As long as your using a rom manager supported rom it knows what rom your using and will give you updates for your rom 7.0.2.1 just fixes camera and is stated stable nand first and if you update w/o wipe and it messes with anything just restore and wipe before update
I have a feeling that its more of a permissions issue. Running Titanium backup and restoring your apps is not a problem at all. run the batch then select restore all apps with data. Once the list of apps comes up make sure the radio button that says "App only" is the one that is selected. If you restore the data that could cause issues.
I forgot to mention I did fix permissions with Root Tools. Anyone know about ROM manager and how it updates. If I go to 7.0.2.1 and there is a 7.3 does it install over the last one? And the update feature for Premium Users only to get access to the nightlys?

Yes it does install over the other one and you can keep all of your existing data without having to restore it. I'd suggest not using ROM manager, but I do believe the nightlies are for premium users in ROM manager.
Thanks for the help guys. I am going to install cm7.0.2.1 very soon and restore only apps without the data. It's a pain because I have so many! But I'll do it right this time. One last question, the google apps zip (gapps-gb-20110307-signed.zip) I used to install after cm7.0 stable, can I use the same one for the new version? Or did something change?

Thanks everyone for the help! I wiped my phone and successfully installed the new version of cm7 yesterday. I manually installed all of my apps again and got it setup and configured once again without any issues or force closes. My phone is running very smooth now!
I get the same thing sometimes on my phone. Launcher pro is force closing because its waiting on the sd card to finish mounting. In gingerbread it takes a hell of a long time for the sd card to mount, just let your phone sit for a min or two and you shouldn't have any problems. Also if you hit wait instead of force close it'll start working right after. No need to reflash the rom or anything else.

ok, will try, thank you for now.
Didn't get FC's when you said - try to backup the data then full wipe - data/cache/sd-ext/dalvik cache and re-flash.
Sounds like updated version of market/calendar/sense launcher is causing the trouble.
also try the above mentioned aligning before re-flashing.
did all mentioned above, but decided to go for cyanogen, for now.
thank you all for help.
dik moc.
When I first installed InsertCoin ROM, my People's process kept force closing. Not sure if this is related. And when starting for the first time, quite some number of processes force closed. So what I did was, I installed ROM manager and clicked fix permissions. And restarted the phone, this made everything stable no more force closes.
However!! The people's process still force closes if I access individual contacts information. Because of this, I avoided accessing people's contacts directly. I used workarounds such as using the HTC dialer to filter out names to obtain numbers. I had no problems creating new contacts so I got used to this issue.
My friend asked me to factory reset through settings. I was confused how this will work since I thought that the people's process force closes because of an issue in the ROM (maybe a bug). I was wrong, after factory reset to default, this issue was resolved.
Now Insert Coin Rom is perfect for me. The only thing that does not work correctly is my hibernate. I am having a discussion on that now to obtain more information.
Hmm interesting.will give IC another go. I didnt have any problems you are having. But thank you.

i dont have problem with this rom
W'ats? I have been using 1.0.8 since the day it was released and I have no problems at all.
I just did full wipe and flashed it...t'at is all..
I'm also using IC 1.0.8 (CM7r2, since it seemed considerably faster) - So far I've had no issues at all, loving it.
Phil
Been using InsertCoin CM7 1.0.8, with cm7r2 hboot for a few days and everything seems fine
Not sure if it's gingerbread, new htc sense or InsertCoin, or all of them but loving the new rom! (only thing that bugs me is that I prefer the old htc weather animations...)
do you wipe all your phone?
i've no problem with ic
yep, i wiped my phone - data/factory reset, cache, dalvik cache.
though i sort of take back what I said... having minor problems - no FC, or infinite loadings, but i see my SIM contacts when I hit phone/dialer, even though they have been hidden in the people app. I believe this is causing a second issue with messages being unable to find the right facebook/google avatar.
but other than that, seems to be working fine
Hello all...i'm a noob
I have an EVO 4G and i've been rooted for a few months now and have flashed a few roms. Sprint Lovers All in one was my first and now i've switched to MikG.
Initially, i downloaded and flashed to 2.58. Was having some issues with the com.htc.launcher so i decided i'd wipe everything again. Downloaded 2.59 and after full wipe of everything 3x flashed that.
I did have Go Launcher EX installed and have removed that. Could this be an issue with that or with something i restored through Titanium as well?
I have searched forums, internet and i can't find anything that will resolve this issue. I have tried to clear the data under manage applications for both sense apps that are on my phone to no avail.
Weird thing is that i seem to be getting the "sorry, the application htc sense (process com.htc.launcher) has stopped unexpectedly. please try again" error only after trying to launch the calendar through the widget but it happens when i launch the app itself as well. Force close is my only option and when i hit force close, of course, sense restarts.
Please let me know if you have any ideas.
Thank you!

Hey 7j7man...I tried that to no avail prior to my OP. Any other suggestions?
Thanks..
Ok so right when i got my sprint galaxy nexus (last friday) i rooted and unlocked the bootloader and got right into flashing after running Black Ice rom i was loving it til all a sudden i was getting FC and random reboots, i thought it might of been the rom not liking my phone. So i reflashed and let all my android apps download via market and only restore data of certain ones and restore other apps in titanium. Still issues with random reboots
I then decided to try Gummy and it was working great no force closes or anything then just out of no where my device rebooted for no reason?
I restored apps the same way via play store.
Do you think i should exchange it for another one? Or do u think its an app or what?
Suggestions would be greatly appreciative.

Why are you not asking this question in the rom thread? Because obviously it has to do with something in the rom not interacting with something else nicely. Most likely an app or data in an app which doesn't want to play nice.

Pretty sure it's an app. If you have time and patience reload the rom on clean install. Download all the apps fresh from play store do not restore any. On the apps that you feel you must restore data do one at a time, use the phone for a while and see if it does it. Then restore data for the second app you feel that you must restore data on and again run the device for a while all is good move to a third. Eventually you will run into the issue again and just go back one step delete the app that you last installed data for and see if it goes away. Unless you have a logcat of the reboot and you can pinpoint what caused it
