It has a faster CPU than its version counterpart.
And its sprint's first lte phone!
This is my next phone.
For two simple reasons.
1: never worry about finding/losing rooting exploits, same with boot loaders.
2: fast updates. I'm not talking about ota's. I'm talking about source release, because when ICS drops on a HTC or Samsung. You can't have custom kernels, which takes a large part out of the experience. Unless the source is dropped along with drivers.
What do yo guys think?
Are you going to jump ship and get this year's annual Nexus or wait... HTC's been awfully quiet recently. Wonder what their planning

I'm super hype I almost spent my Christmas money. I'm putting it away. Hopefully it drops soon. My city isn't in the 1st wave of LTE cities. But I live in Las Vegas so we should get it soon after. Since this is LTE it should be bigger like other Verizon version I assume

I think its call the galxos or something.
Its better than the one in the verison version .

Exynos.
I'll be holding off on this one.
I'm sure it'd be the same processor, just set at default clock speed rather than underclocked.
I hope this is true cuz I'm getting this phone there's only one phone that I would want over this & its the galaxy s3 which is going to be a monster quad core with 2 gb of ram if Samsung could only have a way to disable TW & give the options of vanilla ics or TW it would be the greatest phone ever it would practically be a galaxy nexus & galaxy s3 all in one device!! But that would never happen!

I was all about this phone a month and a half ago but now I am not so sure. I already have 2 Android phones and have considered adding an iphone to the collection especially considering my new vehicle is much more compatible with iOS than Android
We'll see i suppose.
Patiently gonna wait for this

I look forward to getting this for free at the Google I/O Conference...
Unless you live in one of the four lte cities I'd wait for the next phone. The phones hardware is nice buy there will be better VERY shortly after and since lte won't matter I'd give it a few months to drop in price honestly.

Why are you holding off? There is only one nexus a year. And wasn't the nexus one the best phone when it came out? The only thing that touched it closely was the evo. And our nexus s, nothing touched it expect for the gsii (over a year)
Nexuses simply run the smoothest because the most current version of android is made for them.
Gs3 won't come out until 2013
Gs2 is out because no lte.
So for me its the Nexus vs iPhone (isn't it always?)
And I wouldn't expect another iPhone for at least 8 months

I cant see why people would wait. We get stuck up in numbers so much we lose sight of a phone working. People cry about no up dates. Here is the chance to have the most up to date and the simplest path to roms.

I have a Hulu apk i got from some thread on XDA (not sure where) but it is supposed to work on any android device. It works on my nexus, if you want it, message me your email address.
The apk from this thread works on my Gnex.
Hulu seems to purposely limiting "support" for Android.

I think it's safe to assume most people that have moved from a Nexus to an S3 wouldn't continue to lurk in the Nexus forums. Probably best to ask in the S3 forums :good:
I love my Nexus and will always stay Nexus for the stock Android experience and abundance of ROMs. That said though I did try a S3 4g/LTE model today and was MIGHTY impressed with how snappy it was with Jellybean.
I've been tempted several times. Its the physical buttones that are holding me back.
I recently had the chance to get it myself. But I couldn't do it. I was looking at the aosp development, and from what I'm used to it was weak. I could live with touchwiz but I just don't like it. The physical keys where also a downer. Just something I wouldn't like to give up. And since i already have a quad core tablet there really was nothing besides a better camera and even then the gnex camera is pretty good I don't listen to what others say I know what I've seen it do.

I have both as well (SGS2 being my daily phone) and for me (my own personal preference) both the GNex and SGS3 has their own perks in their respective right. With that being said, if i had to choose, my GNex will come out on top each time. But my SGS3 is a damn good device.

Im talking about pure Android loke aosp or cm10
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
The latest Touchwiz is pretty bad. I had TW ICS on my tab2 and just recently we got TW JB on the tab2. I don't know if the SGS3 will get something similar but this latest version of TW JB on my Tab 2 is slow, the browser force closes and the interface has been changed for the worst. The ICS version of TW was better than this newest version they have released.

have you even tried a gs3? even though the gnex is really smooth, the s3 is pretty much on par with their touchwiz.

The bigger question is did you read what he said? Now re-read what you typed.
He was talking about AOSP. If there was still confusion, he posted specifically that he was talking about AOSP, over an hour before you posted.

Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
I have both and most of the time use my s3 for the battery life. If I want to try something new or interesting I'll usually do it on the nexus. As far as bad aosp goes I'm not sure what you're smoking, we get nightly cm10 builds consistently. I'm currently running the m2 release and it's perfectly suitable for every day use. Prior to this I was running paranoid and it was great. M2 just has better battery life. Also while they do get worse battery life than touch wiz it's still better than my nexus.

lolno.
Well a lot of people I know have the s3. A lot.
Anyway...I've had a lot of opportunities to play with it. It is very very very fast first and foremost!
I've mostly played with the ICS versions. So smooth and a real joy to use. The nature UX is also very nice. Its one of the best android skin I've used from any OEM I think. They finally moved away from trying to mimic the IOS look and feel with the UI which is good.
I've tried the jellybean version of the s3 just once and to be honest I could not tell a big difference. That's because the s3 is awesome with speed and responsiveness even with ICS.
The screen is excellent also, and the feel and look of the handset in the hand is nice. It looks a lot like the galaxy nexus with buttons.
I would not move to the s3 as a full time replacement for the galaxy nexus however. Simple reason being that I had the galaxy note and waiting for ICS and Jellybean was not my thing.
I'm too comfortable with quick stock updates from my nexus s days. Plus the main reason also...the galaxy nexus is insanely fast and smooth already!

this phone is seriously ridiculously amazing. far exceeded my expectations (i've only had it for 2 days and im in love) by far the best phone i've ever had. it's buttery smooth which to me was my only issue with past android phones. no lag whatsoever and the display is beautiful.
It was a tough decision to move from pure Google to the note 2. But reading reviews and having multi windows open sealed the deal. Anybody else leave galaxy nexus for this phone?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
Never mind I read that question wrong lol
Usually people don't leave stock Android if they like that. But if you enjoy that layout of the stock Android home and app drawer, then you can download the Nova Launcher (you can even get the stock icons instead of the ugly TouchWiz icons). I came from a CM ROM back to stock and needed that look. However, there is sooo many more features in touchwiz that are nice.
But especially with the development section, you should have no problem getting an AOSP ROM if that's what you prefer in the future.

Great dev support, but the gps was pretty weak and the keyboard skipped on every stock rom which is just pitiful of Samsung to have never completely fixed.
S2 was good but they took out the audience sound processor and dedicated gps chip in the sprint version, otherwise was great. However battery life went way downhill after the move to ICS base. Also the vibrating camera module is like wtf?
Got my S3 today and it seems really solid hardware wise. I think Sammy finally got it all right this time around (fingers crossed). Only problem I've seen around here is cracked glass from 2" drop onto carpet (ok, exaggerated) so I hope that holds up for me. Also I notice the screen has a blue cast when viewed at an angle, and can appear slightly washed out with text on certain backgrounds.
