I bought the screen protector package from tmobile. Hated them and ripped them off.
Bought a Clear Freak. Not bad. Not great either.
My biggest problem is that I bought this phone, out of contract for $500 because it has this amazing screen. So I want to protect it so it continues to look amazing, but in doing so I make it look like total ****. So it is a self defeating endeavor. It is a great paradox. How do I protect the screen and make it look amazing?
In the past I have used Seidio inward facing cases. That protects from most accidental damage and a micro fiber cloth to clean dust and fingerprints a couple of times per day.
I really just feel like using a screen protector on this AWESOME screen is blasphemy. I just tore off the clear freak while writing this, the screen looks 10x better without it. Using a screen protector on this phone is very similar to just leaving it in the box, or just using an inferior screen.
Basically I didn't buy a $500 phone with the most awesome screen on the market so that I could slap a piece of plastic on it and make it look worse than an old G1 screen.
What are your thoughts?
I use the RealLook screen protector and it is hard to even tell that it is on there.

So true, so true...
Does realook collect dust around the edges of the screen. That is the main reason I took the gadget guard off.
I used the clearfreak and I really can't tell much of a difference. I spent a good fifteen minutes getting it perfect, though.
I have used a couple of different screen protectors and was about to buy the reallook this morning on amazon because I just don't dig the clear freak. It does look invisible but you can tell a huge different in the crispness of the screen with it on there. I believe that is going to be the case no matter what. So I have made decided to go bareback and just hope that I can keep it scratch free!
I tried the T-Mobile and Realook screen protectors. I've given up. I just don't like screen protectors.
The T-Mobile screen protectors are horrible, the matte finish degrades the screen, had them and got rid of them.
I'm now using the reallook and if applied correctly, you can't tell it's on the phone, it's very, very good, covers the entire screen, and screen senssitivity is not affected. So far no dust on mine around the edges either.
If the phone will not be scratched by anything, so why bother putting protector on?
I got one piece of gadgetguard and I feel more confidence sliding my finger across the screen harder and harder without worry.
Agree that no screen protector is the best, but I have the reallook cover and I'm very happy with it. Screen still looks awesome.

I have a Realook and I am very, very happy with it! I have installed T-Mobile protectors on other phones and didn't like them. With the Realook I have to tell people that my phone actually has a protector installed.
I have not used Zagg but after installing the Realook on my Vibrant I don't plan to install any other brand.

I thought the same thing. I now have a scratch in the center of my screen, I don't even know what it's from. The strange thing is I am super protective about my device and it has never been dropped. The only thing I can think of is something in my pocket but I never keep it in the same pocket as anything else.
Bare naked at the moment...waiting for "the best skin ever" skin to come out.
I have a feeling that I'm goin to prefer bare skinned... but with some kind of case...otterbox? Anyone?

Invisible Gadget Guard
I am using a screen protector from Invisible Gadget Guard, and i really can't tell that it is there. I did have to take about a half hour to make it look that good though.
Had a Realook but it made the capacitative buttons along the bottom less sensitive. I took it off and am debating on going back to a screen protector. If my screen gets scratched up that bad I will just call Tmobile customer service and tell them I need a new phone because my phone is sucking down batteries in less than 2 hours. Works every time!!!!
I HATED the T-Mobile screen protectors I had. I switched to realook and swear by them now. As long as you take your time putting it on, the results are beautiful.
i like the clearfreak, it was a pain to put on but its feel is very close to the screen itself
I really think realook is the way to go. I've used many different brands of screen protectors and this by far is the best. Like ppl have said before you really cant tell that there's a screen protector on the phone
I have clear freak right now but there is one small spec of dust under it and its annoying the hell out of me. I picked up some realook screen protectors think I'm going to try and switch to those.

funny you mention that - i have the same thing.
I ordered 2 of the 3.99 clearfreaks, but my next purchase will be the Realook
For it's price (best bang for buck), what's the best screen guard for protection and not altering the screen lighting view.
If you are one of the users who switched from one to another, please post your feedback and experience! Helps a lot! Also if you know the major negatives of certain products, please post!
I was initially looking at generic, cheaper ones (after all its just a piece of plastic) but read around that it might not be wise. Is there really that big of a difference to justify more expensive ones?
Thanks!

I have the "Full Body" Ghost Armor for my Vibrant and I love the body protection. The screen protector by Ghost Armor wasn't really what I was looking for, albeit the body protection is Top-Notch from using the invisible shield, since it offers corner protection. I would stay away from ghost armor and invisible shield, since they both have that orange peel effect, while the ghost armor has less of it. I'm looking into the SGP Steinheil, since it has many rave reviews. Though I can't comment on how well it truly does perform though, since I have not used the product yet.
what's the best matte style screen protector? too bad realook doesnt make a matte version. I have the regular "anti fingerprint" one and it still glares and fingerprints. The matte one that apple made when i had an iphone was amazing, too bad I cant find a similiar quality one for the Vibrant =(
have ghost armor and I notice no orange peel effect and have been using it for several months. I didnt care for the full body protection as i always felt the edges of the armor and it annoyed the hell out of me. So I just kept the screen protection and removed everything else.

i use the ishield (not the zagg one but similar) and its awesome. pulled it off my old phone, put it on my new one, still looks fantastic. best protector i have ever used, only ever needed the one.
I decided to go with the reallook, because of the overwhelming vote. I would agree and love this screen protector, more than the last. This post was a ton of help, thanks!
That realook looks awesome but right now I'm currently using a generic one from ebay. I got it for $1.70 shipped and it's really great! You get 3 protectors inside the package with a small cleaning cloth.
I'm quite picky about screen protectors, I don't like the sticky ones that makes me hard to scroll down the screen or if it makes my screen dimmer (anti-glare). I usually prefer a clear, scratch resistant, smooth feeling, and easy to install screen protector. And gues what? Three screen protectors for $1.70, this thing really did the job well! Can't beat that!
did the generic ones offer the same look and glare protection as realook?
^I havn't tried the realook yet but I'm pretty sure that you'll be satisfied with this one that I'm using right now. I can't post the link cause I have less than 8 post but I'll try to send it to you via PM.
Realook...I had the T-Mobile one, Clearfreak, and some cheap store brand. The t-mobile screen I don't like at all because it distorts the screen and it also doesn't fit the entire screen. The store brand (don't remember what it was) was too hard to apply and had too much finger drag. The clearfreak was cool, but had too much finger drag/grip, and had a rubbery quality. It also picked up scratches because of the depth of whatever material it uses. Obviously protects your screen well, but I just didn't love the feel and it was occasionally tough to swype. The realook is the easiest one to apply (no soap and water), you can get it to go on with no bubbles where I could not get the bubbles out of the other ones, you can remove it, clean it, and put it back on very easily, and you would never know it was on your phone. I think realook takes this by miles, at least for me. Well worth it.
how does realook apply? because if you can peel and clean and reput it back on, it must be some special method to put it on
i bought a generic screen protector off ebay... it came with my case for under 6 bucks CAD it was for a i9000... works just fine except there is wierd hole that opens up between the haptic keys .. no orange peel & ive had it for 6 months.
Realook is the best. I had tried other screen protector but they all have that weird residue and feeling on the screen protector. I can't even tell that I have a screen protector with Realook. Best screen protector by far!
I bought the Realook based on what I have seen on this forum. It's great. It beats every screen protector I've tried. It's very easy to apply. It looks and feels like it's not even there.
Thanks!
What screen protector are you using/plan on using? I got the zagg for the Incredible 2 as I don't think there's too many made for the phone yet aside from on eBay. It's my first zagg, and its alright. Would prefer something less sticky feeling though.

Maybe not for fear of scratches, but one is definitely still desirable to help keep the buildup of various gunk on the screen down. All of those skin oils from fingers and the side of one's face add up over time, not to mention if the user has makeup, hairspray, hair gel, or any other number of products that get on the screen. If all of that isn't promptly cleaned off, it can become increasingly difficult to remove.
I'm considering picking up an Incredible 2, and if I do, I'll be picking this up:
http://www.amazon.com/Seidio-Ultimate-Screen-Guard-Incredible/dp/B004XC6LMM/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1305296213&sr=8-2
After years of using every type of screen protector known to man, I've found Seidio's to be some of the easiest to apply (and reapply if necessary), they don't reduce the "feel" or touch sensitivity of the screen, and they last (the packages typically come with two, but I've never had to replace the first one I put on). I used them on my Droid X and currently have one on my Droid Pro.

I will take a look at that one thanks. I agree I feel like a screen protector is worthwhile just in case. I removed the zagg though and am using the one that came with the otterbox case now, which has a texture nearly identical to the bare screen. I didn't like the slight tackiness of the feel on the zagg.

Don't know about this phone, because I've only had it a couple of weeks. But based on 16 months experience with the original Motorola Droid, I'd give the screen a quick huff of breath to provide a little moisture then wipe away with a microfibre cloth. I could polish that sucker until it was like brand new with only a little effort. After 16 months that Droid screen is still as smooth, slick and damage-free as the new Inc2 screen fresh from the box.
If you want a screen protector go for it, but I seriously can't see any need or benefit.
I originally had the VzW screen protector that came with the "starter kit". It was an anti-glare style.
I hated it. It was only as big as the LCD so it did not cover the buttons or the top, etc...
The anti-glare washed the screen out IMO.
I ended up ordering the Seido ones bsweetness mentions above - I could not be happier!
Currently have the one from VZW that is the anti-glare one. Probably the same one nayr and others have had. I don't have any issues with it, but I may be a bit more forgiving I guess.
Never used a screen protector on my Eris. It never had a scratch on the display. It was very easy to give it a quick wipe if needed. I had used keys on my Eris' display to show people why screen protectors really aren't all that better than a bare display.
The tempered glass on the I2 is much better than what was on my Eris. I still don't use a screen protector. I've taken a blade to the glass and it wouldn't scratch. It's easy to wipe off. No special cloth or cleaner required for typical use. Occasional cleaner might be needed with rough use.
Nothing will protect your display from a drop. That's my only worry.
I use Seidio screen protectors for my DroidX and my wife's Inc2 and I have been very happy with them
http://www.seidioonline.com/product-p/spm1htncs.htm
It's so clear that I don't even remember that I have a protector on sometimes
I buy the 2-pack just in case, I still haven't used the second one for my DroidX
Realook is hands down the best screen protectors i've used. It's too bad that they don't make it for the inc 2 yet.
They're completely invisible when applied, they feel exactly like the glass. I ended up purchasing the zagg invisible shield even though I hate how they "stick" when you try and use the phone. Although it gets better when you use it over time.
I think i'm just going to do without one untill a realook is available. Those things are the best thing since sliced bread when it comes to screen protectors.
Zagg InvisibleShield. 100%

I feel the same way about skins, but that has me reconsidering. Take a good look at the edges of the raised areas though-where there are seams. They're easier to see in the silver version, but I think it would look better in the black...
Sorry this is a little off-topic
I have a full skinomi carbon fiber skin on my gTablet and it worked out great. So, I decided to get the skinomi screen protector for my Dinc2. It turned out HORRIBLE.
Skinomi sent me replacements 2 separate times and each one was defective. I tried out the Clarivue screens and I'm really happy with them. They stick extremely well and are like glass. Yes, you have finger prints but doesn't bother me.
clarivue.com/htc-incredible-2-screen-protector.html
SGP just released their Inc2 films. Sadly only UC and UF. No UOptics or UOleo. Seriously considering it just to make the metal/glass edge not as steep...
I just received both the anti glare and the crystal boxwave protectors after a lot of deliberation. to those using the verizon antiglare protectors who are afraid of the rainbow effect of ag screen protectors, don't hesitate to get the boxwave antiglare. The rainbow effect is barely noticeable. Very happy with these protectors (enough to actually post in this forum).
When I had my D1, people always asked me how I kept my screen safe. I laughed, mentioned gorilla glass, and then pummeled the screen with my key. The look of horror on their face was priceless, almost as good as the amazement when I showed them that the screen was fine. That's why I never understood the whole rugged thing. I mean, my little buddy was a champ, and all I used was the standard hard case Vzw gave me. Of course, I haven't tried that with my Dinc2 yet, seeing as I've had it less than a month, but I can imagine a similar result. That hasn't stopped me from getting a screen protector this time around, though
Anyone use one of these skins/shields on their phone? Anyone customize a skin before? Does it come out good?
Im also interested in peoples experiences with products like these.
I've had a bit of experience with Zagg. I do like them, but I personally struggle with the installation a bit. My other half seems to have more luck than me, so she gets to do most of them!
As far as protection goes, they're very good. They do, however, have an 'orange-peel' texture which can take some getting used to, and does provide some resistance against the finger.
A friend of mine uses Skinomi skins on just about everything. He has a penchant for the Carbon Fibre ones, and they look terrific when done properly. Set yourself aside a good bit of time to get it right, make sure you're in a dust-free room (especially if they're clear skins) and use a credit card as opposed to the 'squeegee' thing that comes with them. I also found heating the actual protectors with a hairdryer allows them a bit more flexibility. This little tip works for regular screen protectors too!
Good luck!
Recommendation on screen protector
I used a screen protector on my device branded "Ewoti".It is quite awsome. I used some screen protectors before, but the clarity after application were not good. However, this named "Ewoti" screen protector impressed me very much with its high definition. Also It can anti-scratch, anti-fingerprints. Really very awsome.
I'm using Zagg invisible Shield on my P500... It's a very good screen protector.
I used Skinomi on my Asus TF & it was one of the easiest installs ever. I have to admit I prefer the wet apply over the dry because it's forgiving if you mess up & I mess up a lot on the dry apply, especially when it comes to a tablet. The screen protector feels a little rubbery in the beginning but it doesn't anymore after a few months. The downside to Skinomi was I wasn't able to use my tablet for 48-72 hours. I had some serious tablet withdraws but I survived.
Hope that helps.
I'm using a Zagg Invisible Shield on my iPad. I'm very satisfied with the invisible shield! It's very strong and although it takes time to properly apply it; when it sticks, it sticks (or so to say ).
I personally can't stand the "tacky" feel those screen protectors give.
I just ordered a full body skin from Skinit. It seems to me that the DROID3 should be as naked as possible so i went with a skin and a pocket pouch. I'll post when i receive it and get it installed
i love zagg have used them on my last 4 phones
Zagg has the best screen protectors, they are the only ones I use now. Skinit has awesome skins. I had a maple wood pattern one on my OG droid that I got for $4.00 on Amazon.

Zagg is very good. A bit pricey, though...
meh
skinit is just a vinyl overlay, like a giant sticker. It wasn't for me, the edges peeled after a bit and I couldn't get them back down. All gunked up. That was on my cell of course, the one for my laptop is good though!
I'm using a bestskinsever skin.. and for $10 it works great. I don't have any experience with the more expensive ones but I've bought like 10 BSEs and they've all be great.
I've had them on iphone 2g, 3g, 4g and now a Sammy SGS2!
I've had both the zagg and the skinomi. The zagg is a stronger screen protector but the skinomi is pretty good for how cheap it is, just beware not to use it with a tpu case. My tpu case made the skinomi peal off. The skinomi will get some dings from your finger nails if they are too hard, the invisible shield won't.

Check out Steinheil anti-fingerprint screen protector. It has a matte finish so it isn't sticky like some of the other protectors I have used. I use Swype on my phone and I can just glide over the screen without any resistance at all. Has held up great for me. About $12 for a 2-pack.
That's the response I always get. I have the Realook screen protector, I think you can only get it from Amazon.
I've been very happy with Ghost Armor.
I like Seidio's Ultimate Screen Guard.
HTC EVO 4G screen protector
This is where i ordered my screen protector, much cheaper than local shops. crystal and just like you never use a protector on your screen.
I forgot the name brand, but I have a privacy protector. Not because I want to conceal my privacy but because most privacy protectors offer the thickest of SP's!
100% recommend Zagg.
Great protection, dosn't smudge, and lifetime warrenty. I have sent mine back twice now (first time was because I managed to get dirty under it, 2nd because I shattered my screen) and I get a brand new set. Peel it off send it back, done.
Hey,
I agree zagg all day every day! Their protectors are cheap thin, the feel is amazing, they protect from scratches and you can beat them up but it keeps your screen safe! they are easy to apply with solution, and best part when you want a new one just pay a few bucks for shipping send them back the old one and its free!
this video says all! hope i helped!
youtube.com/watch?v=wg-zFX8ZoG0
Zagg is by far the best imho
I had ZAGG on mine for several months. It worked great. I took it off because I didn't like the feeling of it compared to the "glass" feel. I've had it off for a couple months and still no scratches and I like the phone a lot better without it.
I just tried the new anti-glare version from zagg, it was horrible!!! It was like looking through crystallized glass, especially when there was white background. I went back to the original zagg and love it.
I use the one that came with my OtterBox. I thought I was going to hate it but rarely even notice its there any more.
Clarivue. Can barely tell the difference between it and the glass. Just bought my gf some generic ones off Amazon for her shift and the quality was really good for a quarter of the price. Don't think I'll be buying the name brand versions anymore but if I did I'd go with clarivue.

The touch screen is more prone to breaking from pressure or impact then from scratching.

I have to say Zagg is the best. For one, if you have them (or someone like best buy mobile install it) both the screen protector and the installation have a lifetime warranty. Meaning if your screen starts to peel off, take it back to Zagg get a new one free, and get the new one put on for free!
i dont like screen protectors and cases and mi phone is perfect but depends how you use it
i've used an the otterbox one for a bit and then a zagg when that wore off but now i have SGP STEINHEIL anti fingerprint one. i didnt really care bout the fingerprint part but liked that it was slightly matte so its wayyy easier to see with sunglasses on
I'm using the one that I came with the otterbox. It has been on since September, with heavy use/abuse. Its just barely starting to peel at the corners.

Zagg since launch day. Has a couple of pretty decent "marks", but when the screen is on you cannot even notice it. It is the only protection that I use. No peeling so far.

Zagg! You cant beat the warranty if something does happen to it. If you can find a kiosk let them install it. Its the only thing I will let someone else work on my phone.
