I'm trying to understand why no one has hacked the htc weather widget to work outside of the sense UI. Is this just not possible? All I want is the stock widget with adw launcher. I use beautiful widgets and Fancy Widget, and I don't like either as much as the sense version. Can someone enlighten me on this matter? Thanks.
Beautiful Widgets has a Sense-like clock:

Just not possible. It's tied too deeply into Rosie, the launcher for Sense, which is in turn, tied too deeply into the Sense framework. There's no way to port it, at least not without *HUGE* issues, if it works at all. Sorry
I found an old version of FancyWidget that looks exactly like the Sense weather/clock.
I use weather toggle, its fantastic

are you just looking for the sense animations?
those are part of beautiful widgets as well (separate download that will fire off once you select weather animations)

Thanks for the info. I appreciate that. I would even use a Sense-based ROM if I could just use ADWlauncher EX, but that won't even work

I might give that a shot. Although, I wanted the animations that sense provides, by far the best IMO.

I have only tried the free version of fancywidget and with the new return policy, I don't want to purchase the full version and not like it

I'm currently using beautiful widgets and the animations seem to cause a pretty hefty battery drain. It might be other things though which I should probably look into.
Thanks to everyone's responses. I can't believe no one can rip this widget out of sense, but if it can't be done, it can't be done

Title is supposed to say: Why is it impossible to have LauncherPro icons at the bottom and the Sense Clock/Weather widget on top?
At least, I think it's impossible.
Because I've seen some pictures where people have both. But I'm not sure if that's just a photoshopped pic or what.
Does anybody know if it's possible?
And if not, why not??
My guess is it's NOT the sense clock. It's beautiful widgets' clock running on launcher pro.
like above, you are either seeing beautiful widgets or the discontinued fancy widget. Technically the sense theme is part of the rosie/sense launcher. Launcher pro replaces your stock launcher which only the sense widgets seem to be compatible with.
Thanks for the quick answers guys.

Well hello Mr. Dsl.
Any idea on where I can get that fancy widget? Since the 3rd poster said it's discontinued now?
Can you possibly send me a copy of it (if it's not a paid version?)

Actually, I think that's the Sense weather. The dock at the bottom is a modified version of the Sense dock, so it's not LauncherPro anyway.

i wonder if its possible to pull the MIUI lockscreen into a sense rom. i dont like the "click-on-colored-babyish-iphone-icons-style" of MIUI but the lockscreen is awesome!
Any ideas if there is a way to do this?

Run launcher pro with MIUI and you won't have to deal with those "colored-babyish-iphone-icons"

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't they still show that style on the app drawer or if placed on the homescrens?
I like a lot of things with the MIUI interface, but the thing that drives me away is the iphone-esque menu when you hit the menu button. I love the phone/dialer though.
MIUI should be enjoyed as a whole product, not in bits and pieces. But I'm sure someone could do it for you.

Laucher Pro will let you replace the icons with whatever ones you want when you put it on the desktop - there are plenty of apps out there that will allow you to change the look of the homescreens - but if it really is the menu system you don't like then hopefully someone can try and port the lockscreen for you
(FYI - here's my Incredible running MIUI and Launcher Pro)

Non-trivial? So you're saying it's important to port it to CM6?
If that's the case, it could be ported to MIUI as well, since they are both AOSP roms.
Unless of course you mean trivial, which makes more sense...

Non-trivial in this sense means not easy. From what I have read, the lockscreen is pretty tied in to the Rom.

Yeah, this would be incredible if this was possible. I enjoy MIUI, but it has its pro's and con's. I really LOVE the lock screen, but on the other hand I really am not a fan of all the white/light grey system menus. With the number of people that are obsessed with theming their Android devices I'm surprised there isn't any option to change all those menus to a darker scheme.

Anyone have any luck with a port of miui? I would love to test it
I was just wondering if it was possible to make the 3D app drawer for the Gingerbread launcher work correctly for MDPI devices because I really like it as I have seen it on a friends G2. If anybody could make this work with the stock Gingerbread launcher I would be eternally greatful. Edit: (BTW I am on CM7 latest nightly)

why would you want to use a gingerbread launcher if you are running a gingerbread based rom?? (cm7)

You can use Launcherpro or adw ex and dress them up like Launcher2 and then you get the 3D effect. Or you can google launcher2(android's actual launcher as seen on vanilla) and install that. Make sure the L2 is gingerbread and not the froyo version.

You sir, are an idiot. ADW has more configurable options than any other available launcher. If you are speaking only about the animations, then yes, the free version sucks, but the only $2 ADW Ex launcher fixes all the laggy animations, and adds 8 more screen effects for transitions. Easily the best launcher out there.
You must be high. It's okay, I won't judge.

If you just use the vanilla launcher, you won't have 3D. The vanilla launcher is almost the same as the ones on the market. They are 2D for mdpi, and 3D for hdpi. Google never released drawables for the 3D launcher for mdpi.
You sir are flaming, and clearly I know EX has more customizations as I bought it and have used it all through my CM6 days I just like the stock launcher jeez.

Launcher Pro works well enough.
I mean, I haven't used the stock one, but I would think you could get it to be very similar.
It would be great for people to share their home screen setups, I'm interested to see what is possible with ICS
Unfortunately I can't attach my screenshot as I can't post external links yet.
You can take a screenshot within ICS by pressing the volume down button and power button at the same time.

After being on CM for some time, the one thing I don't like is the stock AOSP clock app, I'm wondering if there is any way to port the stock Samsung ClockPackage.apk one over to CM/AOSP. I tried pasting the stock .apk into the system/data folder and setting permissions, but it still doesn't work, so I'm assuming it relies on TW framework. Nevertheless, would it be possible to port it over? It would be great. Thanks.
Anyone? Is this at least possible to do, or is it simply an impossibility? Thanks
Last bump, one more effort to get a response.
If you're referring to the original S3 Touchwiz clock, try UCCW and the associated GS3 skin:

I have no way of confirming this to work as I have not tried it myself. However, you may be able to flash something like this in your recovery. (Click here)
It'd be advise to backup your ROM in case something goes bad. That would be my recommendation however.

For some odd reason I thought you were referring to the TouchWiz weather widget. I don't know what I was thinking in all honesty. On the subject of a TouchWiz clock on AOSP, I don't think that'll be possible as the clock runs a TouchWiz framework. It's very difficult to get things working without that, and that being noted, you really cannot do much unless Samsung open sources it. I did find a S1/S2 TouchWiz clock working on JB, it may work on KK too. Click here for the thread.
