I've just brick my defy. and i am trying to findout how to fix it.
I format the /pds partiton , and now my phone wont start.
any one who can tell me how to insert a CG to sbf file?
the pds partition in defy is CG38.smg and i have that backup file but i cant insert this CG to sbf file...
hope some one who can give me some tips.
I'd just reflash the sbf and move on, cant you get into the bootloader?
use sbf depacker from modmymobile
open the sbf then insert the cg the compile it, then flash

but it seems the sbf depacker cant insert cg files. it can only replace cg file.

I've already try this one. it cant add cg to sbf it says cant insert code group ,please wait for 1.3.0 ....
any one who can help me get sbfcodec?
Tenfar, sorry to hear that but when i googled i got lots of hit for adding and modifying CG in sbf. Please droid forums there seem to be others who did this.

you can replace a CG you can delete a CG but how to add a CG?
I think the man to ask on this one is Skillraz on Mod my Mobile

If I'm not mistaken, tenfar eventually sent it back to factory. And a circuit replacement was required.
i've exactly the same problem...
What was your symptoms ? a reboot at bootanimation point with all sbfs ?
I hope someday Moto could unlock the BL then we may fix this brick, by the way, does that legal if we copy the IMEI files in a condition which we are unable to write the original IMEI back?

Did. You go to andy-developers site where they host all the sbf files? Download one loader from there flash it and see if it does your job. Make sure to flash corresponding sbf files. Hope this is of some use.

This links not have a bootloader version, only have different versions of sbf boot , no bootloader...
A days ago, bootloaders were here.
They keep renewing the page. Here is the previous version with bootloaders. Please try it out and let us know if there is a difference.

Did someone try flashing the bootloader and see if its possible to downgrade and upgrade?
EDIT: I just saw that the files are sbf files with 2.21 bootloader. Can anyone using 2.51 UK version flash this bootloader from Motorola and see if its possible for them to downgrade. If yes then all of us will be free to move to and fro various versions and can try out the new ROMs that are specifically for those on 2.51v.
I can`t test it. Can`t flash. Defy shows a ? if phone is of and phone will charge via USB.

but with 2.51 rom i can`t use a system dump to build new rom. Works only with 2.21 and 2.34 rom.
U got to downgrade from 2.51 and able to flash any sfb?

no, you can't downgrade.

On 2.51. rom normal defy recovery is <2e>.
If i use a nandroid backup froyo. defy recovery is <3e>
Could it be that Motorola make some changes in recovery? 2e version blocks roms from other motrola phones.
Well, Walter if you know to make a backup of your bootloader and then load a custom bootloader you could try using the one released by them http://www.wix.com/palmercurling/project-bootloader-freedom
But if I were you then I would try some more combinations of flashing the 2.21 or 2.34 bootloaders and flash corresponding sbfs to see if it works.
Maybe no one did it well till now. Also see if you can get into stock recovery after you have flashed the 2.21/2.34 bootloaders.

What should I do with it??
I found out that flashing with odin should have at least 3 file (something like that)

flash it with odin, but choose option one package and then select the file you have, dont forget to have ancora.ops file

After I search around on google I found some tutorials to make a custom rom, ofcourse there is rom kitchen but I like to know how I can make a rom for the Arc??

Yeah, Ive been meaning to ask this question as well!
Its just crazy having to scour the entire XDA just to find a few skins for systemUI or SEHOME, but a tuts will do a lot more good in the long run.
Will somebody help?
Make nand backup and copy system.img and data.img and boot.img to kitchen folder..start kitchen and start to work.
With this method you can also modify stock rom.
How to get cygwin and kitchen work..use search and you find good tutorials many.
Happy working and give us report about progress.

Boot.img is kernel and ramdisk, grab it from the stock ftf if you are working on stock.
if not grab it from teh rom you are basing off.

How do I get it from a TFT because i extracted but I got files with extension sin.
Must the sin be coverted again??

Sony fones have the boot partition hidden. So no you can't grab it off fone. You can use the files. Look for iridaki's boot IMG/ ramdisk thread. That explains it. In lots of detail.

I'm not sure what you mean by "WiFi Folder". But you can try re-flashing your radio. You will need Clockworkmod Recovery 2 to flash it.
Here's mine in CM7 (if you need one for a Sense based ROM, I can't really help you there)
I found it in /system/etc
Ohh, thats what he meant lol. For some reason my wpa_supplicant.conf is found in a different folder :O

unfortunately I have not managed to do anything with it... I need something like this attachmant file... this is from xperia x8, and this is not for wildfire...
Just checked it on my phone (the one before was extracted from the CM7 .zip) and I still only have wap_supplicant.con in there.
I know it... I need tiwlan.ini or something similar... jeeeeeeeee this is my hundredth post lol haha

I need more info. Which firmware did you flash (stock (which version?) / CM11/12/13)? In most cases you can reflash the phone using Flashtool. If you were flashing using flashtool you might have a corrupted .ftf file.

yes i can.. but thats no use.. cause i will use my setool to help him via teamviewer.... so he needs to contact me for remote procedure.... and most for the members here dont have setool or any box...

He says he ended up in a bootloop. This does not mean that his phone is dead or that he will need SETool. Now he just said "bootloop." We don't know which "bootloop" (kernel/OS). It is most likely the OS bootloop which can be simply fixed by reflashing.

bro there are many more complicated situation for bootloops .. as i had for my neo v i ended up with bootloops ..and flash mode and fastboot both not working .. so i was forced to buy setool and flash the device with testpoints..
