ever done this before? - Windows Phone 7 Development and Hacking

So I get on my samsung focus (at&t locked) and go onto the diagnostic mode (via the tethering hack) and type in different combos untill I get to a menu called Test Mode with some weird numbers and a back and end key. type this into your diagnostic mode (app) and you will see the same thing *#1111# and then I pushed another # for good measure and, sure enough it led me to the screen. Once this is tested, can someone PLEASE tell me what it is for? (ps, my phone will also not turn off or dim in this mode) (also, diagnostic menu has become an app now in my app list??!?)

That's the Samsung Diagnosis App on WP7, people have been using it for months now, here are some 60 codes that I could come up by brute-forcing the hash function in the app [1] and [2]

TP2 from Telus : How remove Autolock

I have a TP2 from Telus, with the original ROM and no programs installed.
When I press the power button, I must hit [Unlock] at left on the lower bottom of the screen, after the screen turn gray, and I have the message [Tap "Unlock" or press "*"]. Then I press the button [Unlock] just under the message. And just after that, I'm able to use the device.
My question is :
How could I remove this? When I press the power Button, I don't want to do this to have access to my device.
btw : The [Lock] option in [Settings -> Lock] is not anabled.
Thanks for help.
I dont know why it automatically locks it but the same effect can be achieved when you hold the call end button and select lock device from the quick list.
I'm considering getting a TP2 from Telus as well... I've heard there's no GPS in the Telus version. Can you confirm that?
Or if there's no GPS available in software, is the hardware still there, but just locked down?
(Sorry about not being able to answer your question, but it seems annoying to have to hit unlock like this... I'm interested in a solution too)
You have a GPS with the Telus version, I confirm. I installed Google Map, and it's working.
Place to improvement, but working : Don't work in my home, but outside, no problem.
Not the solution, but you will find a good workaround there :
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=77600
Another workaround discussed elsewhere: either slide the phone open, or remove the stylus. Either method wakes up the device without having to go through the unlock dance, and wakes up to wherever you left off.
Hope this helps.
I've got a suggestion but not sure if it'll work. Install the Advanced Config tool. See if the option is there to disable autolock. It's not there on my TP2 but it was available on my Touch Dual and my Touch Diamond.
By the way, it's funny but you should consider yourself lucky. So many users (myself included) are looking for ways to autolock the device natively.
Advantage of autolock: You won't have accidental screen presses when the device wakes up in your pocket without you knowing (eg, when the phone rings but you missed the call).
hehehe...
thats good, i am also looking for a solution to enable autolock,
(no 3rd apps.)
i compare the current registry with other devices,
maybe there is something

GPS working in GSM mode?
Hello hadez
quick question on GPS.
The Telus TP2 is a worldphone which can be switched to GSM for Europe as example.
Is the GPS chip available in GSM mode too?
Means if you switch to GSM, does googlemaps find a GPS chip?
All worldphones I used in the past the GPS did only work in CDMA mode.
I would like to have a worldphone which can navigate me in the rest of world not at home where I know the way.
Regards
highc

Found Some Nifty Codes

Hunting around different web site and I stumbled across these, dont know if they will be any good to any one.
FYI These codes have been obtained by decoding various .apk files present in the phone firmware.
*#*#4636#*#*
This code can be used to get some interesting information about your phone and battery. It shows following 4 menus on screen:
Phone information
Battery information
Battery history
Usage statistics
*#*#7780#*#*
This code can be used for a factory data reset. It'll remove following things:
Google account settings stored in your phone
System and application data and settings
Downloaded applications
It'll NOT remove:
Current system software and bundled applications
SD card files e.g. photos, music files, etc.
PS: Once you give this code, you get a prompt screen asking you to click on "Reset phone" button. So you get a chance to cancel your operation.
*2767*3855#
Think before you give this code. This code is used for factory format. It'll remove all files and settings including the internal memory storage. It'll also reinstall the phone firmware.
PS: Once you give this code, there is no way to cancel the operation unless you remove the battery from the phone. So think twice before giving this code.
*#*#34971539#*#*
This code is used to get information about phone camera. It shows following 4 menus:
Update camera firmware in image (Don't try this option)
Update camera firmware in SD card
Get camera firmware version
Get firmware update count
WARNING: Never use the first option otherwise your phone camera will stop working and you'll need to take your phone to service center to reinstall camera firmware.
*#*#7594#*#*
This one is my favorite one. This code can be used to change the "End Call / Power" button action in your phone. Be default, if you long press the button, it shows a screen asking you to select any option from Silent mode, Airplane mode and Power off.
You can change this action using this code. You can enable direct power off on this button so you don't need to waste your time in selecting the option.
*#*#273283*255*663282*#*#*
This code opens a File copy screen where you can backup your media files e.g. Images, Sound, Video and Voice memo.
*#*#197328640#*#*
This code can be used to enter into Service mode. You can run various tests and change settings in the service mode.
WLAN, GPS and Bluetooth Test Codes:
*#*#232339#*#* OR *#*#526#*#* OR *#*#528#*#* - WLAN test (Use "Menu" button to start various tests)
*#*#232338#*#* - Shows WiFi MAC address
*#*#1472365#*#* - GPS test
*#*#1575#*#* - Another GPS test
*#*#232331#*#* - Bluetooth test
*#*#232337#*# - Shows Bluetooth device address
*#*#8255#*#*
This code can be used to launch GTalk Service Monitor.
Codes to get Firmware version information:
*#*#4986*2650468#*#* - PDA, Phone, H/W, RFCallDate
*#*#1234#*#* - PDA and Phone
*#*#1111#*#* - FTA SW Version
*#*#2222#*#* - FTA HW Version
*#*#44336#*#* - PDA, Phone, CSC, Build Time, Changelist number
Codes to launch various Factory Tests:
*#*#0283#*#* - Packet Loopback
*#*#0*#*#* - LCD test
*#*#0673#*#* OR *#*#0289#*#* - Melody test
*#*#0842#*#* - Device test (Vibration test and BackLight test)
*#*#2663#*#* - Touch screen version
*#*#2664#*#* - Touch screen test
*#*#0588#*#* - Proximity sensor test
*#*#3264#*#* - RAM version
NOTE: All above codes have been checked on Google Android phone Samsung Galaxy I7500 only but they should also work in other Google Android phones.

[Q] How to test screen?

I've got some issues with my Evo 4G, I wanted to pool from the vast knowledge source here on XDA and see if I can get some help.
My touch screen is currently going crazy. When trying to slide to unlock or answer calls sometimes it takes 5-7 tries to unlock. Unfortunately an unsuccessful attempt to answer a call declines the call.
It also seems as if there is a dead spot on my screen which happens to be right where you would select "free" "update" or "install" in portrait mode in the market. Other times while texting my phone will repeatedly try to press "t", or hold down "t" and give me the number "5", other times it tries to select text to copy or cut.
Sometimes while on one of my home screens it will act as if it is trying to use pinch zoom when I try to slide my finger across to another home screen. Instead it will shrink or enlarge the screen.
I found this in the star code thread for the EVO - ##33284# - Debug - Debug Menu – (Debug Screen, Test Calls, RC Data, HDR/1X Selection, Voice Privacy, DTMF Set, Korea Mode Set)
I can't find any option to debug the screen while in this menu though, did the 2.3 update change the feature?
Are there any utilities I can use to attempt to try and find out what's happening with this screen?
I'm currently running stock 2.3.3 (OTA), so I can't try any method that requires root.
The phone has some damage caused by me, so I can't take it back for warranty.
I also just put this phone back on my account so I have to wait 30 days before I could use TEP, if I wanted to swap out the phone through insurance.

ZVC is the latest stock release for our phone. And they took the above hidden menu out of it.
If you want it, you'd need to flash ZVB.

The lastes stock release for my phone is 10D (poland PLUS), After installing this rom I have problem with lock screen. When the screen is locked, andI want to unlock phone, the screen stays freezed, but the sensitives keys are on (display LCD is Black I hear sound unlock my phone). My GPS don't see any satelites and I can't turn on NFC. I think it may be a problem with hardware A-GPS module.... I wan't to sent my phone to service... When I flash teenybin maybe I fix that??? If I stock rom (10D for Poland PLUS) flash I will not have a problem with a warranty?

This forum is for Sprint and our phone is different from yours.
Im not sure if teeny bins will fix your problem. Other than if you flash a stock international ROM. Or use Kdz file.

With ZVC we lost IAOT? Something like that, which was a way to make our phone force roam.

I live out in BFE and have to use an airave. When I leave the house, I am farked because I might get enough of a Sprint signal to keep me from roaming on Verizon. Roam Control doesn't support LG phones so I'm still farked.
I love Lrod's Optimus too much to roll back to ZVB. Is there any other way to get that IAOT back? Is it a apk or something that can be patched in?

Anyway to disable touch disable mode?

I use my phone on my bike in a holder, and when I go to unlock it says touch disable mode. I press volume up and power to disable and it never disables, and I don't see a way to disable this mode under smart assistance like there was on the previous version. I'm on Oreo. Please help a brother out!

it has to do with the light sensor being covered.
might be to do with the holder covering or partly covering the top portion of the screen

I searched everywhere for the setting to disable the touch disable mode. It looks like they forgot to add in the Oreo update. I have suggestions that you can try:
1. Press the volume up and power buttons three times to enable/disable the feature: I found this solution somewhere online but it doesn't work for me.
2. If it is possible, you can cut the part of the holder that is covering the proximity sensor. I have used CPU-Z to find out where exactly the proximity sensor is located. It is located in the space between the front camera and the earpiece.
3. Send a mail or call the Huawei/Honor support team. They might be able to help you and with a software update months later, it might be fixed.
Yeah I need this **** disabled too. I like to peek at my phone from half way out my pocket and this stupid **** always comes up.
I just found the solution. Hallelujah!
