[Q] Rage / Temp root / terminal problem - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
in that rooting guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=HTC_Vision#Rooting_the_G2
it says you have to executing rage I have to start the terminal emulator two times, then I have a root shell.
When I start it the first time I get the "Force close" as expected. but I cannot start the terminal emulator the second time. I just receive a black display.
Any ideas whats wrong?

[Q] HTC Desire problem

I post this message for my friend whose account isn't yet verified.
Hello,
few months ago I tried to root my Desire with my friend, but it didn't seem to go according to plan and we thought that this isn't working and decided to leave the rooting process.
However, now I'm not able to update it to Android 2.2 OTA, and not even by manual update.
So if you guys could tell me what's the problem because i don't have a clue.
I'll write down the software information if it helps, could this Desire be rooted now anyway? And if it is, what should i do?
Firmware version:
2.1-update1
Baseband version:
32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2
Kernel version:
2.6.29-82821fb5
[email protected]#1
Build number
1.21.405.1 CL172503 test-keys
Software number:
1.21.405.1
Browser version:
WebKit 3.1
Thank you for your help!
It may be solved now, titanium backup is working when i installed busybox. So my phone is rooted and thats why i can't get OTA updates

Nothing there on screen while swithcing on desire

Hi,
I downgraded my HTS desire to ROM version 1.21.405.2 with the help of:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=768256
I successfully downgraded to 1.21.405.2 but then i want to come back on INDIA_ASIA rom. For this i flashed rom:
RUU_Bravo_hTC_Asia_India_1.21.720.4_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_127705_signed
This is it... it first locked on the HTC screen and then i pulled out the battery. When i tried to restart the device i was having nothing on my screen. Only a black screen is there now, when i switch it on i feel the vibration but nothing on screen.
Help me out of this i was just looking to get on my custom ROM but now i am without my desire.... :-(
most definetily you have an SLCD screen. search the forum how to unbrick slcd Desire.
Hi mariosraptor ,
Thanx for your reply.. but i again did the same procedure of downgrading to 2.1 and now my desire is running fine Can u please guide me that which will be the best official ROM that i can use on my desire so that i am not bricked again and can use it for warranty too... I purchased it from India and also when the updates were available for my new phone it was coming with HTC_ASIA_INDIA...
Current ROM:
Firmware version: 2.1-update1
Baseband version: 32.41.00.32U_4.08.00.09
Kernel version: 2.6.29-0cb9f166 [email protected] #1
build number: 1.21.405.2 CL174215 release-keys
software number: 1.21.405.2
browser version: Webkit 3.1
Thanx in advance..
There isn't one
Can u explain???
Explain what?? The RUU you're after doesn't exist so the only way you'll get it working is to:
1. Flash the older AMOLED-only RUU
2. Find the thread on here telling you what to do when you can't see the screen to flash the OTA update manually and hope it works
Otherwise you'll have to stay on the WWE ROM until an RUU for your region is released

i try many root tools still not work. I wait almost 1hr still loading.
Have you installed Visionary and attempted to temproot? If so, what happened? What other tools are you talking about? What is still loading after 1 hr? Are you stuck in a bootloop? If so, have you removed the battery and tried to reboot again?
Have you searched the forum for instructions? I was under the impression that there was an absolute wealth of info here...
You'll need to provide a bit more info, mate.

the bottom one seems to be the most popular
UPDATE: 26 OCT 2011:
Just used the bottom method on my friends DHD running 2.50.707.4, worked like a charm (so easy), just follow the manual and you should have no issues what so ever ... got the latest version with built in Goldcard (link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=952352)
Then flashed Capy's latest 3.1 Runny, now the DHD has a new lease of life
Great work and thanks to all (for the developers of the Ace Hack kit, and capy for providing us the awesome roms)
Sent from my HTC Desire HD using xda premium
A few resources via my sig might help.

Vodafone.DE Desire Z - Root method confirmation

Hi all
I realise that you get this...a lot...but I am seeing a lot of conflicting information. I am not completely new to rooting and have just received a Desire Z for my girlfriend from Vodafone DE.
I want to root and change Roms and, essentially, give her the same great experience that I had on my old Desire with CM7.
I initially saw the Visionary info, then Rage...most of them say to downgrade, some say not...etc.
I am looking for the best method to root (Preferably with S-OFF)
Code:
Phone Details:
Android Version: 2.2
Baseband version: 12.28b.60.140eU_26.03.02.26_M
Kernel version: 2.6.32.21-g9d69527 [email protected]#1 Fri Oct 29 14:49:32 CST 2010
Build number: 1.34.161.6 CL273326 release-keys
Software number: 1.34.161.6
Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.
Thanks
If you go to the wiki and follow the guide for the Htc Vision you should be ok, I see you are on version 1.34 so you should be able to root without downgrading

Superb, thanks - I will give that a try

Rooting from 2.3.3

Gave up on my HTC Desire HD a while ago and went to the Optimus Black. Anyway coming back I have no idea how to root my phone from 2.3.3 Branded on Vodafone Australia. Previously before I left the DHD I tried Visionary and failed since it wasn't running Froyo. Any solutions? (Preferably without Downgrading first)
Android Version: 2.3.3
