recovery - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Right need a bit of help I have rooted my phone and have been
Successfully flashing it for 2 months with the recovery that's
Rom manger let you flash with. What I wanna know is how can
I flash another custom recovery. Can I do it manually?

If you have hboot s-off you can use "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" from the bootloader.

No more recovery/Can't flash new one

Well i wanted to flash the Amon_RA 2.0.1 and that went wrong. After that i can't go in recovery and I can't flash a now one.
If some one can help me.
Thank you
How did you try to flash it? and Why can't you flash a new one? some info please!!
But when changing recovery on desire, there are 2 possibilities:
1. if your phone is s-on, you should use unrevoked like when you installed clockwork mod at first.
2. if your phone is s-off, you should use fastboot commands(boot into fastboot and run "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" recovery.img being the img file containing the recovery)
I did it with unrevoked.
I have S-off but i can't make the flash work with the fastboot.
ok nvm. it works again but i can't make fastboot to work
any how thank you!

[Q] Need Help with Recovery!!

I have succesfully root my girlfriends slide and gained s-off thru Aplha . but i tried to flash cwm 2.5 thru fastboot like an idiot thinking this was the proper way of permanently flashing new recovery and now cannot get into recovery neither factory with triangle or cwm. How do i fix this or will i have to unroot bascially and start over to get the recovery .img again? Also, who can help with permanently flashing cw recovery so that i do not have to use the update.zip method.?

Did you try to fastboot flash the update.zip? That's not good, you should've flashed the cw2.5 .img file. No, you don't have to reroot or res-off, but download the .img file for the latest clockwork recovery on koush's website, for our device. Then, on your computer, while in fastboot mode and plugged into usb, type
fastboot flash recovery filename.img
obviously replacing filename.img with the actual file name/location.

[DEV] recovery

attached is a semi-working recovery, you can flash it with "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img".
update: the recovery can flash boot.img's too, if the custom rom uses "dd" instead of "write_raw_image" to flash the boot.img. i hope mike updates his rom
don't use anything except for "install from sdcard"
i take no responibility for any harm to your device or data
it's basicaly a repacked cwm recovery combined with the stock 1.26 recovery kernel/ramdisk with modifications to init.rc
it is intented for developers wanting to toy around with custom roms, until someone makes a real recovery
no support nor updates will be made for this
is it tested or not yet.
I've tested it
ok thanks, since currently there is no other option to unlock bootloader other than htcdev & lack of RUU sources is too risky to flash custom recovery at this point. so technically it will skip zip package signature check? so we can start working on working custom rom.
You can always flash the stock recovery again ith fastboot
The reason why this recovery is useful is because i dont have to repack system qnd userdata images with ext4. Plus, you can update the userdata partition. Flashing with fastboot erases it
looks nice!
could you maybe share your knowledge about creating this recovery? i'm trying the same for the one s but can't get it packed together correctly...

yes, there are only 2 ways of installing a recovery.
fastboot and adb
fastboot requires you to unlock in order to "fastboot flash recovery"
and in order to possibly do it through adb you need root and in order to get root at the minute you need to be able to flash an insecure boot image through fastboot, which again, you need to unlock in order to "fastboot flash boot"
Hi blubbers,
There is a guy on general thread who wants to dump a developer phone. It's s4 not tegra but might help.

No, flash ROM from custom recovery first, then the boot.img from fastboot. Use a custom, not stock, recovery (CWM, 4ext, or TWRP).

I have no idea what you're trying to say. What recoveries have you tried to flash? How have you tried to flash them? How are you trying to flash the ROM? What is "cyan," ClockworkMod (CWM) or CyanogenMod (CM)? What is a "stock recovery .boot img"? You can't flash anything from the stock recovery. You can't flash the stock ROM's boot.img with a custom ROM. Recoveries do not have boot.imgs that you need to worry about. I am saying that you need to have a custom recovery, like CWM, 4ext, or TWRP, installed. You do that through "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img." You then need to download a ROM zip, boot into recovery with power and volume-down, factory reset, and install the ROM. You then need to extract the boot.img from the ROM zip you just flashed and flash it from the computer with "fastboot flash boot boot.img."

My Zenfone2 unable to boot into recovery mode after i flash twrp.img

Hi guys,
I just Root my phone and tried to flash recovery.img from twrp. After I did and it restart but keep boot into bootloader, I tried to boot into recovery mode and it's failed. What I try, boot into recovery mode via tethered temp recovery and flash a new rom which I downloaded here. Now the problem... My phone bricked and unable to boot into user surface.... HELP!!!! please!!!:crying::crying::crying:
You must unlock the bootloader to have twrp.
And some rom require unlocked bootloader
you want TWRP ? please unlock bootloader first
Use fastboot to reflash a stock rom and recovery.
Then unlock your bootloader and flash twrp.
Afterwards, you can flash a custom rom.
