A very important fact about XDA Developers!

XDA-Developers is the best forum and site I have ever used. I love all you guys and how everyone is so helpful and if the posts are sensible no one flames!! As soon as I make some money I will be donating...?(bet you have heard that before.... lol)
I know how much effort it must take to maintain a site of this magnitude, Admin needs praise for all their hard work but most of all the Developers and cooks that give my phone a new lease of life every few weeks ;-)
Lets not forget the users who, lets face it go out of their way to help!
So once again
BIG BIG THANK YOU EVERYONE AND XDA-DEVELOPERS!!!
Glad to be part a of the community since 2nd January 2006

no biggie but my educated guess would be that Xda is a magnitude of o2 branded WM devices, that are produced by multiple manufacturers, most likely HTC was the initial main inspiration for this forum, considering it is only HTC manufactured devices.
HiJACKED!!
Thank u Very Much! to both my doubt was cleared up
The O2 Xda brand is a range of O2-branded Windows Mobile PDA phones, produced by multiple manufacturers (mainly HTC, Quanta and Erima). The first model was released in June 2002. The "X" represents convergence of voice and information/data within one product; the "da" stands for "digital assistant", as in PDA.

Introduction

Hey Guys, just wanted to introduce myself to you all. I will be frequenting the Defy forum as I am in interested in the development of modded roms for the Defy specifically. I'm a 16 year old from Colorado, started developing at the age of 12 with the iPod Touch and recently switched to the Android platform. I look forward to working with you all! Thanks!
Well Come to the World Of Android.....LOL

i bought this phone so i can theme for android and i am also interested in developing and modding it..hopefully when i become very familiar with it i will start making themes like i used to make for Symbian
nice to be in such great community
It's my pleasure to meet and to be able to work with you guys, this is a very well developed and moderated forum. You all seem to have absolute tons of experience with the Defy, and the Android platform as well. Much thanks for the welcomes, that means quite a bit as most people would shy away from such a young person with limited experience.

(Idea) April First alternative site design

I was just wondering if the administration had ever considered doing an alternative site design for April first? I had seen this done once many years ago on the Miniclip forums where they turned the forums over to a user for one day and had the site converted into "Roastmaster's Awesome forum of Awesomeness" (Screenshot). Complete with an alternative banner, flying debris, and background music, it was a fun refresh from what the site usually was 364 days out of the year. What if we did something like this at xda developers?
b
Why not leave the forum like this and let the April's fool be an off topic exclusive? This is a serious forum, where we discuss serious stuff. People (noobs) could risk to brick their phones...
If Xda wanted to do an April fools joke they could always announce they are dropping android in favor of symiban

Heh, I think they did something like that a year or two back; they "announced" that they were picking iPhone backup and admitted that it was superior to android.

Online courses offered on the XDA Depot site

Hey Now XDA Brainiacs,
I am very interested in learning about Android Development, Networking and/or Cyber Security as possible new career paths. I've been in I.T. for over 30 years doing mainly Field Service Tech/Analyst support and some Network support. I noticed some "too good to be true" prices on the XDA Depot website (via emails from XDA Developers site) for several courses - The Ultimate DevOps Mastery Bundle, The Complete Android N Developer Course - Build 17 Apps, The Python Power Coder BONUS Bundle, etc. Now, I have no idea which courses would be the best to start with, but I just wanted to know if anybody could let me know why they are so inexpensive? Many of them seem to have Lifetime Access (I'm 55, so it shouldn't be too long...) or 1-2 year access to the course, so I assume they will be updated with the newer technologies and programming languages in the future - or is that an incorrect assumption? Again, is this too good to be true? Thanks for your time and keep up the GREAT work.

I contacted XDA Depot Support and only got the following answer which didn't help much:

Hi John,
Thanks for writing in!
We're an online marketplace through which vendors sell their products at a great price. We are working really hard with our vendors to get all these prices for you.
Let me know if you need anything else; otherwise, have a great day
Your support hero,
Veronica:
