Upgrading to WM 2003 SE, Help Please?????

Hi there,
I have an XDA 2 running Microsoft Pocket Pc Version 4.20.0. I would like to install WM 200 SE, please can you tell me where I can get this from. Also I have unlocked mine from O2 so I can use my Orange Sim, is there anything I need to do when istalling WM2003SE as I dont want to loose any settings etc...

Hi I don't quite understand all this stuff about the ROM? also whats that link (milinkito) all about?

i have the same problem, i want windows mobile 2003 second edition but i am not sure how to install it, and i dont know too much about anything with rom, etc.
my info:

i want to install the latest stuff so when i hard reset my pda it wont goto windows mobile 2003, i always want second edition but i am a newbie.

and i also don't know where my pda was made, when i look at the bottom of the box it says made in taiwan, whats the difference between the england and australian etc, can I use that sin thing?

about the install being somewhat diff then well you got 3 options
1 stick with normal 2003
2 wait untill somebody makes it easier
3 read it and read it untill you understand and then perform it
as far as i know then there really is no easier way of upgrading it
about country ID then it have nothing to do with where it was made
since devices sold on the southpole would not likely be made there aswell
the country id try doing a search for country id since sooooo many people ask about it i would be surprised if it's location was not reviealed in some of the answers to their questions

Following are few DETAILED STEPS FOR NEWBIES to install WINDOWS MOBILE 2003 SECOND EDITION.
1. Download Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition (DCS)
Run the .exe file and you are done and upgraded to wm2003se with builtin Radio Version 1.14.00
Download Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition (Mysterman's Edition)
Run the .exe file and the upgrade process starts, sit back and wait till you get the "Congratulations" Screen.
(NOTE : Mysterman's wm2003se has its own radio file which is v1.14.00)
Some of you would like to upgrade to Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition (Mysterman Edition) but would like to use a Radio Version of Mamaich (v1.18.00) here are the steps :
1. Download Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition (Mysterman Edition)
Download 1.18.00 Radio Version by Mamaich
Create a new folder on your desktop and then right click on your .exe file of wm2003se(mysterman edition) and then click on winzip and then click on extract to and then extract the file to that new folder located on desktop.
Open that folder there you will find HimaClearJumpCode,HimaGetDeviceData,HimaUpgradeUt,ms_.nbf,nk.nbf & radio_.nbf.
Delete or cut radio_.nbf from that folder to some other folder and then extract radio_.nbf from Mamaich's 1.18.00 Radio Version.
Hit refresh in that folder and then double click HimaUpgradeUt.exe and the upgrade process starts, sit back and wait till you get the "Congratulations" Screen.
You are done with the installation of wm2003se(Mysterman Edition)with Radio v1.18.00 (Mamaich Edition)

looking for upgarde for the xda2i

I have a xda2i with the following info

I am looking a for a upgraded version if anyone can help... it would be great if there was a wa to get rid of the o2 custom stuff on the xda too i dont like that too much can anyone help

At the moment there are no updates for the XDA2i but there is rumours of one in the pipelines... if its true or not remains to be seen but we can only hope.
As for removing the customised crap just do a hard reset (you'll loose all your stuff) , press power + reset.
Then when its installing a box will appear asking "Personal" or "Corporate" user, choose the corporate option and enter the password "0506"

at the moment the only newer rom from our factory rom is that of pda2k.. do a search for my posts and in there you will see where to get it and how to get past the country id error..

Danny-B- I didnt see the box will appear asking "Personal" or "Corporate" user it just says will customize my xda in 3 seconds and i cant do anything to stop it and i cant even uninstall the software it is linked into everything.. its really annoying and this o2 thing is just eating up memory and space... can you help

Are you sure you didnt miss it ?
Im sure it auto installs personal user if not selected within a certain time.
The best thing to do would be, Hard reset it, then just sit and watch it install till it gets to the choice point.
Another thing that might be slowing your device down can be the SD card if its over 512Mb , the XDA 2i sems to have a slight problem with them and slows everything down, well it does in my case anyway.

I´ve tried to upgrade to WM5 but...

the firste tries I´ve got ERROR: wrong device, so I changed the devicetype from PH10 to PH10C like written on start-settings-deviceinformations...
I´ve tried again...
I started HimaUpgradeUt.exe and after a few sec. the screen say´s "deviceinformations: XXX

ROM XXX
Image info´s XXX
.....
if I press UPGRADE the massage "don´t remove USB & power" appiers then a new screen with the status for the upgradeprocess....
BUT... after 20 sec. I always get ERROR 101 (connectionerror).
- any idea ?

The XDA2i does not support the leaked WM2005 it only works on the XDA 2
Although the devices look the same the internal hardware is different.

The problem is that the software (wm2005) has to be custom made to suit the hardware in the phone so ... HTC - the makers of the phone or O2 would have to "build" the software for the phone.
Its because all the correct drivers and such have to be correct for the device to function.
But you never know, it might be a possible upgrade in the future, youll just have to wait and see.

Ok, I´ve found an original Upgrade-Tool & the Rom-files from o2UK....
My next Problem is the Password to edit the nk.nbf to chage the Image...
I´m using WM 2003 ROM Image Editor 1.4.26
Xda IIi ROM v 1.10.124 (43.6MB) - english
AlUpgradeUt.exe 2.0.0.1
when I start the upgrade I always get the
"ERROR 120: COUNTRY ID ERROR".... that´s because I have the
o2 - Germany device...
Can somebody help me to findout the right password for the Rom-editor ?

Dopod 700 - WWE. How to upgrade the ROM and Radio?

Hi, I really new into this. I spend nearly the whole day in ready everything written on this on your wiki web site, which seems to be excellent. I read and tried to follow the steps to download a new ROM, but did not succeed.
I bought a DOPOD 700 in Taiwan in English version, and I don't know where I can find an upgrade version. I tried to go on the Dopod web site of Taiwan, but it’s in Chinese.
My current Device data reads:

So i guess you want to upgrade it to another original shipped roms?
1st download the ROM here

And for the radio also copy radio_.nbf from the 2003SE ROM to the "??Your_DIR??\Downgrade to WM2003SE" folder. At stap 2

Many thanks for your advise. I have followed the procedure as indicated. I dowloaded the ROM and located the WM2003SE ROM. I prepared my PHB device as indicated, but then I met another problem:
It is written on the bootscreen of my Dopod 700 "Test Only - Not for sale - Qteck -". So I don't have access to the three options that are described in 3rd step of "BA_Dowgrade_WM5".
I guess that I am a victim of a crook in the IT shop of Taipei.
Or is there a possibility to remove this page to continue the upgrading process?

upgrade Fujitsu loox N500 to wm6

sorry i am a bit of a beginner with all this but very confused. I want to upgrade my wm5 loox n500 with windows mobile 6 so i can run certain apps. I have read all the forums and i have downloaded the rom upgrades which say they will change my pda to wm6 - file appears to be os_122u.nbf. however after doing this which all appeared to go successfully my apps will still not run and it appears when i check that i am still on wm5
what am i doing wrong ? have i downloaded the wrong image / duff image ?
is there a dummy guide to upgrading the n500 anywhere ? is it the same for upgarde purposes as a n520 ?
any help appreciated

it gave you a version number to search if thats a 6.x version
another thing you can see is if you got threaded sms's it's one of the
few differences between wm6 wm5 apart from the glossy top panels

I've never flashed an older device and having a quick read, for yours it looks like it can be tricky
