Tethering feature on phone 7 - Windows Phone 7 General

Hi everybody,
Finally, is the tethering function present on Phone 7 or not?
Thanks a lot and a happy new year

Works fine on my Samsung - although it's "outside" the OS so to speak, so not sure it's available on anything but the Samsung and LG devices at the moment.

There are plenty of threads about this, please use the forum search function.

Tethering's only available unofficially on LG and Samsung devices at the moment, and not currently on anything else. I think that's limited to USB tethering and not wifi hotspot, too

A google search will point you to the correct Samsung drivers that windows can have a hard time finding.

android on i780

Any project or ppl working on this?
Not that i have heard of, i would have thought it is pretty unlikely to happen to be honest. Probably more chance of it on the I900.
I dont think our I780 user group is big enough for there to be the demand needed to make it worth someone doing it.
i dun think so man, it is a great challenge to do tat
i really wait eagerly for the day that i port my i780 to android! some people got to be working on this

it's looks like cool if samsung i780 could run android too...
any one want to try this ?
thx
Who is still interested by putting Android on his i780 ? I am personnaly interested ! who can upload the rom ?
i think, the first thing we should do is download the SDK and try to dump it into i780 if possible
thx

We know that is some part of the world, the i780 is or is going to be distributed with Android installed on it, so for sure, maybe trying to dump these roms & to install them on ours, should be the first & best simple step, no ?
That's why I was asking for Android ROM as it should exists for i780 in some part of the world
Anyway, I just installed the Eclipse environment for the Android SDK... in the case of....
ME!
I would certainly like to run android on my i780.
The one reason i got it, was because of the touchscreen+qwerty setup, but the touch screen is pretty much useless as it is.... Well except from playing Lemmings CS, that is.
Bugs and a terrible UI are the main drawbacks of this device.
The only way I have managed to get sort of a finger friendly interface on it, is with spb mobile shell and the 320x320 theme pack. But it is not a todayplugin, and so "pop-ups" does not work properly, and it will go back to the WM today-page when clicking the end-button or exiting many apps.
WM was never made for a mobile phone device. Neither for being navigated without a stylus. I believe that is the main reason why it suck so much at both. Android on the other hand...
And from what I have seen so far, it looks nice. Me wants.
edit: Seems like the Koogan Agore was never released? A comment somewhere seems to point the finger at google an some google certification problem.. Still, maybe someone could mail them and ask nicely for the ROM?
I hate saying this, but is there any news? Maybe someone spotted some news on the web?
I found a video which showed two Samsungs running Android. The Omnia and the i780/Epix.
I'm searching for a couple of minutes now, but I can't find it anymore.

Looks promising indeed! Do you know how stable is this?
so has there been any significant breaktrhough regarding android and the i780
I had the wm6.0, then the 6.5 and now the 6.1, but I find them all to be much too unstable and to fidly to even bother learning more about them.
I did like the wm6.5 interface a lot and I believe android would be a class above everything else regarding UI
Also the guy on the blog posted an image with the android.

[XAP] Samsung Omnia 7 apps for All devices (updated)

Hi
Samsung Omnia Apps Unlocked for all devices!
UPDATE:
Samsung Now Hub V1.13.xap
Attached zip contain:
H3GHub.xap
NowHub.xap
MobileTVFinal.xap
MediaCenterFinal.xap
SFR.WiFi.xap
SFR.TV.xap
To use this apps:
Go to this webpage on your device http://s317073502.onlinehome.fr/b.a.s.e/XBMOD.CER
OR
install the attached certificate.
(like for chevron.cer by sending a mail to your device)
then deploy xap.
tested on HTC Trophy some apps need specific operator.
Thread related to this:
[APP] XAP_Dll_Signer 0.1 (unlock All Xap)
[XAP] HTC Test Tool
HTC HUB Custom Theme
NowHub works perfectly also on lg optimus 7 without the certificate
Tested the now hub, mobile tv, 3hub and the media center on the optimus 7.
It indeed does work without the cert. But only the now hub and the 3 hub are working perfectly. The other two have connection problems.
anything about htc hub?

When I removed the check, and got it to carry past that error, it just crashed. HTC seem to do some device-specific stuff, even where it's not necessary. For example, the youtube app won't work because it doesn't use the WP7 networking API, HTC have used their own driver for network communication.
htc uses their own EVERYTHING
oy vey htc ridiculous! so its either perform a rom transplant that ansar has done or no go
maybe not...if we knew the callback files couldn't we ideally add them to the xap? but would it mean that overwrite would cause instability to non native htc devices
lemme see if I can contact ansar he would probably know the dependencies needed for htc related devices re callbacks and use
What does SFR.WiFi.xap do? In Reflector it looks rather emtpy.
Btw I believe you could have just removed the signature rather than resign. There used to be a util called UnSigner but don't know if it still works.
Every time I sync with zune I have to reunlock my optimus 7 and have to reinstall the samsung apps cause after the sync they stop working.
Anybody found a solution to that yet?
I really like the now hub since there isn't anything like that on the E900 but if I have to install it few times a day I have to pass it.
Putting your phone in Flight Mode whilst syncing will stop it relocking. Not ideal, but it's the best we've got.
Better than nothing I guess.
Thanks!
Thank you!

Tried it, doesn't have any effect, though it does run without problem. I guess it's tied to HTC-specific hardware.

[Q] Windows 7 for HTC S620

Dear friends,
I am a new on this precious forum I would like to ask a question, despite a negative answer from a mobile shop seller, if there is a possibility to install windows 7 for HTC S 620.
According to this seller my phone can not endure the OS because of the processor.
I ado apologize in advance if there was a similar question and it was already answered.
P.S. I love my phone and I do not like touch screen phones so this is a chance to prolong my love for my phone and to be in touch with the newest mobile technologies.
P.S. 2 If by any case I can't install Windows 7 to my mobile is there a chance to install the new 2010 Office? If yes can you guide me to the link.
WiFi HTC S620
Another important question for me!
Does my HTC S 620 has a WiFi and can I use it as every WiFi as on other phones. Even if I have in the panel WiFi icon when I click on it the Command Manager appears and there is no way independently to activate the WiFi. Does this means that the phone is only used as a modem and does not have independent WiFi.
I red that there are sticky post can you somehow show me where are they!?
Thank you again.

I have found a different way of enabling SIM Toolkit on WP7 1st Gen Devices after looking thru the FieldTest registry and found that it may be similar to the registry for STK. Just to confirm, can anyone with a 2nd Gen device with STK give me the registry entries for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\SimToolkit ? Please be cooperative and help me out here.

Hi mate, I don't have a 2nd generation device, but I have an HD2 runing Tango, and I have 2 values:
Default ( undefined value )
UIProfileSupport ( 3702783 )
Can u tell me please how do you activated this so I can do the same?
Thanks
I specifically need the entries from someone with SIM Toolkit enabled as they should have different values. 1st gen only have UISupport entry
[EDIT: Anyone using a Optimus 7 (or others, you can try it yourself) would notice in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\FieldTest there are provxml, license file and AppID directories which SIM Toolkit has the EXACT same files (not exactly but exact type.) but what I think is that there are missing registry entries which is usually why whenever you try sideloading STK_Application.xap it won't work. I've tried deleting the entries in FieldTest and replacing it with the UIProfileSupport entry and it reacts the EXACT same way STK_Application.xap reacts without its registry files. I think I have found a way but haven't tested it yet in case it corrupts my year old Optimus 7 so I need to confirm with anyone else with SIM Toolkit enabled on their handset and is Developer Unlocked]
Yes, I am 13 years old and I figured this out myself
I hope you are able to figure this out. Thanks for the effort.
what is sim toolkit?
It is your Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) applications. Carrier "apps". In India, it is known to be able to transfer prepaid credits to another device. Unknown for US though. In India which WP7 was recently launched, phones come without SIM applications which is a huge disappointment but I plan on bringing it to 1st Gen Devices since it is already available on 2nd Gen devices (e.g. devices when purchased, version is 7.10.7720.68 or 7.10.7740 or 7.10.8107.79) which (if I'm not wrong) is not available in India yet (I only know of the Nokia Lumia 800 for sale in India already) so... yeah...
*So many views of this thread but so little good samaritans who actually replied*
(Tech JOKE of the day: Want your computer to run 80x faster? Delete system32 or syswow64)
on optimus 7 is only one entry: Value name- UIProfileSupport; Value Type- DWord; Value data- 3702783
Any update here?

I'm currently still working on Interop Unlock for ALL devices. It's hard work. As for SIM Toolkit it will most likely work on ALL 1st Gen or devices without SIM Toolkit but the device has to be Unlocked. I'm just waiting for Nokia to release the Network Setup app and I'll get to work immediately.

You're too, too much optimistic
C'mon guys - don't keep down this larva of dormant Recognized Developer
AlvinPhilemon, kid, I know perfect accomplice for you - this guy.
Have a look at his statement - it fits your aims and ambitions... At least - you can grow up together....
I'm not too optimistic. Its due to the fact that the OEM Inbuilt apps have registries that help it work properly. Which I suspect is what stops SIM Toolkit from working even if its sideloaded since its registries are missing. For my Interop Unlock project I found an exploit in the system which is the CAB updates. It will only send to device if the CABs have an MS cert which with the MS Cert, you can pretty much send ANYTHING to the device. I have gotten hold of the cert but the tool used to sign the CABs doesn't allow me to set a password for the MS Cert. So I'm working on that. Interop Unlock is my first priority which (unsure) MAY work on all devices. But interop comes first as i need to interop my lumia to gain registry acces which then kills 2 birds with one stone. So help me guys. I'm currently working with a recognised developer on interop unlock so stay logged. Coming soon in either Mid-End July or Start-Mid August.
Happy Development
Greetings from Singapore
