[Q] Pocket Legends Will Not Successfully Launch - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm no longer able to play Pocket Legends on my HTC Evo!
One day I was playing, and the game froze and eventually forced my phone to restart. After that, my phone couldn't detect my SD card at all, which I've already fixed. Another unfortunate side effect is the fact that when I launch Pocket Legends, the screen goes black for a second and then just goes back to the homescreen. The game is no longer able to successfully launch.
I've wiped my entire phone three times. (cache, dalvik, etc) I did not restore a Pocket Legends backup either, I started fresh with that too. Still no dice.
...and before anyone asks, I have tried uninstalling, unmounting the SD card, installing, remounting SD card, and then playing. Still the same result. I've also tried that same thing but tried launching the app before remounting the SD card and that didn't work either.
I'm running CM7 with the stock kernel and use Amon_RA. Every single other app and aspect of my phone is running perfectly.
The only thing I can think of is that there might be some remnant files on the phone itself, or that I left on the SD card without noticing, and that those files are ruining the game.
A list of every file Pocket Legends pulls out of the install would be nice. I'll go through and delete every one of them.
Please help me if you can, I've been trying to figure this out for a couple days now with no progress at all.
Thanks for reading.

[Q] Goes dead everyday!

My HTC Desire keeps going off everyday. It happens while browsing or during a phone call too. The screen goes blank. The power button also does not work to restart the phone. Then, I have to remove the battery and restart it. Is there any problem or bug? Can I restart the phone in any other way? I read about factory (hard) reset, but I will lose all my settings then. Will hard reset delete my contacts list too?
Also, it frequently shows an SD card error, which goes away if I restart the phone again. I've formatted the card several times.
I don't have too many apps installed and a have 4 GB sd card with about 2 GB of mp3 files only.
Looking forward to your response.
Thanks.

[Q] Phone freezing for no obvious reason, looking for advice.

I really have no idea what is going on with the phone. The phone is amazingly fast and snappy normally. I'm running [ERA]EPICUREANv7 EGgs22, with EC05 modem (I believe I read that staying on EC05 would be fine, correct me if I'm wrong).
It started happening once I transferred my old files from my old SD card to my new SD card (this is my second epic, first one died without any explanation). It began freezing within a minute of a reboot. I then took the SD card out, and it was fine again. I deleted all my old music and pictures for a clean SD, and the problem went away.
The next day it froze again, and the day after that (today), it froze again just now. It seems to happen when I am running a new program (happened once when i installed and tried out miren, happened once when I opened google music for the first time, happened once with powerAMP, etc) but I'm not sure if that is the cause. I'm starting to wonder if there is a common factor between these freezings and how my old epic became a brick (not really a brick, I odined it through download mode to stock, but flashing any rom now causes it to be unable to boot as far as I've tried so it's perma stock now)
Does anyone know what is going on? Is there any kind of diagnostic app out there that will tell me what is causing the freezes or high usage?
Thanks in advance!

One V behaving erradically

Hi,
all seemed fine with my new, one week old One V. Till I installed GTA III. First the installer stuck while downloading the datafies. I canceled the download, restartet GTA III, but instead of completing the broken datafiles download (or re-downloading) it just startet the game and crashed the whole phone in the intro animation, that was without sound. I removed and reinstalled it, the download now finished, I could get the intro with sound, but it crashed the phone at the same moment. Since then my phone behaves like it would be very sick or hate me ;-/. After this crash it startet looping the reboot. It would boot, ask me for my SIMs PIN code, then be ok for a short time, then reboot again. This time it would boot into the desktop without asking me for the PIN. All seemed ok, but HTC's audio player forgot all the files I played (Last Played) and did not find any audio files (I have them on /sdcard/Music). It did not find them after several reboots, some of which were initiated by the phone all by itself. I then erased all the caches rebooted twice and it found the files along with the Last Played list. All seemed fine again, except the vibration of the tactile feedback would be less sharp and more wobbely. But only sometimes. Sometimes it was sharp. But besides that, all seemed to have healed itself and I could use the phone, maybe a bit slower, or maybe Avast and some tasker like app, I have running, made it a tad slower.
Then I installed yesterday's (today's ?) HTC update. Since that the phone reboots after two minutes. When I start the Preferences/Applications it takes ages to scan and most of the programs appear with their internal (com.foobar.someandroidapp) name. Just in order to change after a minute or so to their original name. Elixir2 crashes sporadically during use. Again I get the reboots without asking me for PIN.
Also, when I switch it off it shows the orange light for a minute, or so, instead of the green, though the phone is fully charged. It did not do this before. Oh, and in the meanwhile the HTC audio player forgets the MP3 files again I have on /sdcard/Music. Got no idea, what to do, since removing and reinserting the SD card did not help.
Also, I have the feeling, that something in the list of installed apps in the app-database crashes it. Where can I find it?
I can not even reset to factory defaults. At least I tried. It said it's doing it, then rebooted and all my stuff was there again (ie no reset).
It's crap! I need my phone's camera the next days because of some big Open Air event I am on.
See here for a little video about what happens... You need to download the vid (ca 80MB) and turn it around 90 degrees, sorry.

here is what to do:
format the sdcard
factory reset your phone
Thanks, 1ceb0x, this is what I did. It all went fine. I have now applied the firmware update to 2.08.401.2, that got sent out these days. Seems to work out nicely.
What can I do, that I do not have to reformat in the future? Are there any utilities, that do snapshots of the system over time? Like Time-Machine for OS X does?
It's happening again. This is still the stock ROM, with the official (or was that two cuh?) update(s) a week ago.
I did not install any utilities, from which I think, they could go deeper into the system, like Avira and Automagic. I need a way to analyze, what my system is doing.
Oh, and it is reproducable: Mounting the phone as USB drive on a computer and, after work has been done, unmounting it on the computer, changing the USB mode on the phone. Now it starts. CPU seems to be up to 100% (UI becomes sluggish), apps behave strange (hadphone was in, speaker sounded, today appstore does not install apps, does not even connect, X-plore leaves a notification on screen after I quit, etc.). I had it two days ago, but the I rebooted a few ties, switched it off, took it from the USB cable and used it a little bit from battery. After this all was fine. But now that does not seem to help either.

Wow, that's an amaizing type of error, I can assume a tad sdcard error, but I'm not sure of that.

Yes, that's what I thought, too. I checked the file-system, I also ran a bad-blocks check, though, I am not sure, whether the utlity can do that reliably for an SDcard (since it has been written for a magnetic hard-disk). SDcards have a different technology. I got no reports about failures.
Now, that I hooked the phone to the debugger, I see the watchdog kicking in, but the traces.txt is being written to a directory, only root can access (and I am not). So I am still in the dark. Reports on the net have shown certain Sense devices to hace similare problems, with either too many apps installed onto SD or too many MP3s. The bugs are different. In the latter, the audio-player app of HTC is at fault, this seems to have been confirmed by HTC. Not sure, which Sense version, though, the phone was running ICS, but not a One series.
I'll hunt for the bug for a few more days, then I am going to root, custom kernel and custom ROM. Only convern I have with this, that I do not want to lose anything Sense related, because I love it so far. Ideal would be a ROM, that ported the S or X Sense, since those have more home-screens.
Yep usually clearing your caches returning your phone to factory mode should work, if not use the back nandroid.

[Q] My phone gets badly stuck

I bought a second hand At&T HTC Desire HD/Inspire 4g a month ago . But because of my exams I decided not to use the playstore or insert my sim. It doesn't even have an SD card. I was just browsing the internet from my phone for a month. The problem occured when I signed up on playstore a few days ago. I downloaded 5 apps now and then , and then deleted 3 of them. Yesterday when I was checking out the play store the phone started getting stuck while scrolling , only slightly. But when I typed on the search bar the phone got badly stuck and would enter the letter that I had clicked 5 seconds later, and after doing that for a bit it got completely stuck. It timed out so the light went off and it would do nothing so I turned it off, opened up again. I thought this was because of low memory as the phone only has 1gb free memory. But when I was scrolling through applications today it again started getting slightly stuck just as before, so I didn't go further and closed the playstore. What might be wrong with the phone and what should I do about it? I know this msg is very detailed but I'm really worried so just making sure you know everything. Thank you in advance.
First. Have you tried to check through Task Manager which applications are open and how much they consume?
Two. Perhaps because the load on the phone (without using the memory card), things begin to move slowly
Three. Did you restore factory settings on your purchase of the phone? He may be busy files or programs in the background.
4 I recommend you start from scratch, try to maybe put some clean and simple rom.
Good Luck!

[Q] My Xperia Play is unable to read SD Cards...

Hello:
I have owned a XPeria Play R800i for about 2 years by now. After the first week using it, I installed the Gin2JellyBean ROM, and updated it to version 1.8.1 - And have sticked with it since. Everything worked fine, until yesterday.
While I was charging my phone (it always gets a bit hot when doing so), I had to disconnect it and use the flashlight for about 30 minutes. I could felt the temperature rising, but after such a long time using it, I thought it wasn't anything to care about. Suddenly, the phone rebooted by itself, and as it was very hot, I decided to leave it near an electric fan so that it would cool down.
An hour later, I checked the phone and everything looked alright - I could browse the web, and use some apps. But when I tried to use the gallery, an error appeared: SD Card can't be found. Then, I noticed that all the apps that I had moved to the SD appeared as grey icons, and when I tried to open them, another error message.
I thought that something bad had happened to the card, so I removed it and put it on my PC. And it worked! I backed up all the files, reformatted it and tried again, to no avail. In Settings/Storage, the options Mount SD Card and Format SD Card appear greyed out.
Tried mounting it using the console, and no luck.
Can you help me? Do you think it might be a hardware error? Is it fixable?
