Hello
My DHD is currently rooted and Radio S-Off. On the bootloader screen it states Ship S-Off so all is good. I have just gone through the procedure to apply Eng S-Off so I can flash a radio and now notice that at the bootloader screen it says Eng S-Off and not Ship S-Off. What im wondering is is the phone still Radio S-Off even though the bootloader screen shows Eng S-Off
Cheers
It is still Radio S-OFF.
yes you should have both of them and according to jkoljo you can verify that by checking first line of the bootloader, it should read ACE PVT ENG S-OFF. Bootloader>system info>CID should be 11111111.
Thanks for that

I have to be honest, I followed a fairly technical guide to root my DHD and although I got the gist of it, I'm not sure if it left me with just ENG S-Off or Radio S-Off as well.
Is there a way to check for both?
Cheers.
You can check in bootloader it will say if you are eng off or not and if your cid is 1111111111 your radio s off too
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
- hold power button and select reboot then ok
- after hitting ok, wait 1 sec then press and hold power + vol down
- the phone will enter bootloader mode
at the very 1st line it should say ENG S-OFF
for RADIO S-OFF
- press vol down until you get more info
- if you see CID11111 that means you have RADIO S-OFF
else you don't
Excellent, thanks very much to both of you..........
Mine says
ACE PVT SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT.0.85.0007

What does that mean?
What s-off do I have?

Indeed that is radio s-off.
Hboot s-off looks like "ACE PVT ENG S-OFF"
The ENG stands for engineering.
Thanks guys. It's a bit confusing.
I'm gonna flash a new radio today. Do I only need radio s-off or do i need eng -s-off too?
If so, i guess you can apply it after you've radio s-off'ed?
Edit: So now I used the s-off easy one click tool.
Now I have ACE PVT ENG S-OFF
Do I still have the radio s-off?
As joliko stated you can have both. How does that work anyway?
Once you've entered the bootloader (Volume down + power on) if it says eng s-off you obviously have eng s-off you then select system info or something like that and it says the CID:xxxx. For example my phone which is now radio locked due to loading LeeDroid 1.3 based on the latest 1.72.405.3 ROM and not realising I needed to run Radio s-off says CID-VODAP021. What you want is CID:1111111 (not sure how many 1's but you get the idea). My advice after reading many pages it make absolutely sure you have radio s-off before running any updates or flashing any ROMs period. It is also highly reccomended to have eng s-off and also super user access (root access). From what I have read Radio s-off is a higher or more superior access to eng s-off. Having Radio s-off (otherwise known as Super CID) enables you to unlock any simlock and also load the latest HTC 1.72.405.3 ROM without loosing any root access or s-off.

actually you have more options with eng-s off as you can use fastboot commands. were if you just only had radio-s off you can't use fastboot but your right in the fact that you won't lose s-off were eng s-off is just the hboot been patched an so flashing new firmware with upgraded hboot you will lose the sercurity been off.
how do i know if I am ENG or Radio S-OFF
BOOTLOADER says:
VIVO PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT-1.09.0000
RADIO - 3805.04.03.22_M
eMMC-boot
what does that mean?
I am planning to change my radio to be compatible with ARHD 1.1.2
radio s-off but no eng hboot
Sent out of my Free Candy Van.
Before, after I had used Easy Eng S-Off Tool, I had Ship S-Off. After that I found out I can't flash splash img using fast boot, I ran the tool again and I had now Eng S-Off.
But in the system info, the CID is not 111111.
Does that means I had lost my Radio S-Off?
I'm now on CyanogenMod7 RC-1 with Eng S-Off.
I just now tried this One click Radio S-OFF (windows recognized well my DHD in Device Manager), but it said "Unknown Error, probably connections" (usb cable works fine).
Edit: I restored the backed-up rooted 1.32 and do Radio S-Off. Things ran smooth. Now I have both Eng S-Off and CID 11111.
And by doing so I realized how big Sense Roms are. Clean backed-up rooted Sense 1.32 = 525MB. TB Fusion 3d (Sense 2.1 + 3.0) with some apps (not big): 765 MB. Clean MIUI 1.7.5 = 232 MB. CM7 RC1 with many apps = 457 MB.
Hello everyone, I just got my DHD 2 days ago, and I already want to flash a new ROM on it (Revolution). I have rooted my phone via the wiki article, using gfree_02.
However, I am not sure about ENG S-OFF. I have rooted my phone using "./gfree -f", which means superCID, simlock off, RADIO S-OFF.
So I am guessing I only achieved RADIO S-OFF (besides permaroot, superCID and simlock). But prior to rooting the gfree way, I've noticed in the wiki that it suggested Visionary to be uninstalled. I've never installed it so it was no problem.
But now, in order to flash mike's Revolution, I need to have ENG S-OFF aswell (for flashing a better radio). I do not know if I achieved ENG S-OFF using only the gfree method (did I?). The only method I've seen is via ONE CLICK ENG S-OFF, via Visionary. I'd like to know a few things before I proceed.
Does installing Visionary on the phone, and turning ENG S-OFF via that method, cause any conflicts with gfree's permaroot? (seeing as the wiki suggest to not have Visionary installed) Does it have anything to do with the method I've used to permaroot?
And also, I would like to know what ENGINEERING HBOOT does, is it a second method to achieve ENG S-OFF? and if it's recommended over the Visionary way, considering I've achieved permaroot and RADIO S-OFF via gfree.
In case it is needed, my Build number is
Code:
1.32.405.6 CL278359
and Radio version is
Code:
12.28b.60.140eU_26.03.02.26_M
Thanks in advance!
boot into bootloader, (turn your device off, when off hold the volume down key and press power) at the top of the hboot screen it will either say "ACE PVT SHIP S-OFF" that is radio s-off. if it says "ACE PVT ENG S-OFF" thats eng s-off, if you only have radio s-off, you need to install an older 1.32 based htc rom with a stock kernel before you can use the eng s-off tool
Thanks for the reply!
Yep, it appears it is saying "ACE PVT SHIP S-OFF". But why do I need to install an older 1.32 ROM, I haven't seen that mentioned anywhere (except if the ROM is 1.7x)
Here's a quote from the One Click ENG S-OFF thread

So I should qualify for using the tool, right? If not, could you tell me from where have you read that you must install an older 1.32 (I already have 1.32.405.6)
Yes, your build is compatible
Great, thanks for the replies!
I have ENG S-OFF, and will proceed to flash a new radio. Just to be on the safe side, should I do a backup via CWM? Does CWM also backup radios?
The backup does not include a radio, so it does not matter whether you do it or not. You can find all the radios here in XDA, so it is not a problem.
you can flash any radio you want.
you can find the recommended radio for Revolution Rom, in the Revolution post.
I'm using Android Revolution 2.0.11 with kkernel_v19cfs kernel (you can find it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=836259).
radio 12.35d.60.140f_26.06.03.24_M2
benchmark 2835
have a nice DHD flight
Basically, I have rooted my Desire HD, and turned ENG S-Off. I now want to turn Radio S-Off.
I have used Easy Radio Tool, and it confirmed the process with SuperCID and Unlock.
However, if I go to Bootloader, it says "ACE PVT ENG S-OFF" but in the System Info it confirms SuperCID by showing "CID-11111111"
I just want to know if I am able to flash the radio yet, or if something has gone wrong?
Thanks,
Sorry, found the answer here

I ran Radio S-OFF on top of ENG S-OFF and nothing was meant to change apart from the SuperCID.
I have searched all over and I cannot find an understandable answer to this question: what is the difference between ENG and SHIP S-OFF.
When I S-OFF'ed my Marvelc with the Goldcard method, I had SHIP S-OFF. I do understand that ENG S-OFF provides more features. It also seems that SHIP S-OFF is a radio patch and ENG S-OFF is an HBOOT patch. Is that correct?
To me, SHIP S-OFF seemed a lot like the HTCDEV bootloader unlock. I couldn't even access system.img or boot.img through fastboot (I had re-locked my bootloader with theq86's tool, but still had SHIP S-OFF.)
HTCDev is way more limited. ENG is short for engineering. Therefore, you must have an ENG HBOOT to have ENG S-OFF.

i`ll tell you
when you s-off it means that you can have total control over the nand and can write anything to the phone, and the s-on s-off imformation is stored on the radio partition of the phone, with the simlock and whatnot.
having s-off means that you can flash any hboot, but that hboot will be restricted to what kind of hboot it is.
for example. stock hboots will usuall not have fastboot commands enabled at all. where as the htcdev hboot does have fastboot commands enabled.(if all of them, i dont know) the htcdev bootloader unlocking system wont s-off your phone but when unlocked it enables you to write to the rom, recovery and system partitions.(i think thats right) the main thing is that it doesnt let you flash radios, and *shouldnt* let you access the radio partition at all, or else you could just s-off. (thats what the wildfire s-off campaign hopes to achieve)
but, the big man, the eng hboot, short for engineering hboot is what is used by the htc developers to issue fastboot commands to the phone, including s-on s-off command. what people want usually is to gain full s-off by any means the can and then flash a hboot that is fastboot enabled so the can use these commands.
something to note though, once you are s-off i think you can flash the htcdev hboot and use these commands without needing to unlock it. but that is speculation as i xtc clipped and i own the old wildfire (buzz)
hope this helps pal
The htcdev hboot has some fastboot commands built in, but only some. The eng hboot contains many more.
Before we start, I'll tell you what my HBOOT says:
Code:
*** UNLOCKED ***
MARVELC EVT1 SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-1.09.0000
MICROP-0354
RADIO-0.94.00.0824

I am trying to install the latest OTA update from HTC as a PG76IMG from the dev section so I can also have the most up-to-date HBOOT and Radio for the Marvelc. To that, I need S-OFF. However for S-OFF I need a lower version'd HBOOT. So, I tried to flash the RUU from Football's thread, however it fails (even after running theq86's Superversion utility.)
Can I do anything or I am forever stuck with only an unlocked bootloader?
What if I re-flashed HTCDev unlock RUU, then I did Superversion, then I did the stock RUU?
Any ideas/suggestions?
