[Q] Try to restore backup --> Bricked! - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hiya,
Firstly, yes, I did a search. Here's my problem.
I used unrevoked and rooted my phone, so I could remove bloatware, tether etc. I then installed the hydra kernel to OC to 1.113 (stock volt), and this worked fine too. Couple weeks passed, everything's dandy, and today I decided to give Cyanogenmod 6.1 a try. So I get that up and running and decide that I like the Sense UI better, so I go into the ROM Manager app and tried to restore a backup that I made before installing the ROM. So the phone restarted, and then displayed the HTC Incredible logo and it stayed there.
I waited 30 minutes, pulled the battery, tried to boot. Same thing.
I held down vol down and went into HBOOT, and selected recovery. I get the black screen with vertical white lines on the sides. Waited thirty minutes, no change.
I then tried to reset factory settings through main HBOOT menu. Got the black screen with white stripes again.
So, it appears I bricked my phone. My theory is that the space on my SD card was too low and when I did the backup not all the information was saved, and when the phone tried to reset it pooped out, on account of the fact that the restore data was incomplete.
Thoughts? I do have the Best Buy warranty on this thing, so I'm wondering how that could offer some sort of solution (although I am pretty sure they will not like the fact that it has been rooted..). So in summary: Halp!!
Thanks yall.

Hater of Mayonnaise,
Have you ever been inside the recovery, working? I'm guessing no. The screen you described is an older clockwork recovery on an incompatible LCD screen. Try one of the newer recoveries. 2.5.1.2 should work work, as well as BAMod, and I believe Doug piston has one up. Rename the file to the proper PB31IMG.zip format and load from HBOOT. After that, look for your backup or install a new ROM.
You're not bricked till the phone doesn't turn on.

Yes I've been in it many times. When I first tried (while rooting my phone) I had the same thing happen, but I got the newer recovery or something (I forget what I did) and it went away. Why would this problem come back?

Maybe koush didn't fix the new one, so when you upgraded it broke. Go back to the older one that did work and all is dandy.

When does this happen? It started happening to me after I flashed data throttle zip on OMGB v6. only when I toggle 3G though.

android .process.acore
[ROM] SkyRaider Vanilla 3.0.1 RC3 ran this for a few days. did a back up and installed Incredible Gingerbread[Android 2.3 ran this for around twenty minutes. no back up done and tryed to install The Ultimate Droid 2.5.0. Thats when the problem started.
my phone has the andorid in the middle of the screen and says touch to continue. gives this error android .process.acore when android is touched. can only dial 911.

Since you didn't do a backup, make sure you do a complete wipe. If necessary, do a RUU and try again.

Factory reset, or something similar. Can't remember exactly. If not there, try fastboot.

Try going into the phone from safe mode. It might help you figure out if its the rom or an app on the rom.

Which means either your sd card is not FAT32, or you named it wrong.

Or the file may have been corrupted during download. See if the md5 checksum matches that posted on the download site.

This is driving me crazy. No phone for days.
Ok i formated the sd card to fat32 via my computer sd slot. downloaded radio to computer from here
radios/2.15.00.07.28/ copy PB31IMG.zip to sd card via computer. with s off i did this , power off phone. Hold DOWN volume and press power. to accesses the hboot screen. hboot updateed PB31IMG.zip. yeah.
when i rebooted it goes into this endless loop of the red eye and the word droid.
Please advise.
Thanks

It isn't the radio you need to flash. An RUU is a stock rom as delivered by HTC. Try one of these.

Sounds like you may need to reflash recovery too.
Edit: On second thought, you're recovery is probably ok. I was getting your problem confused with the original poster's problem.

[Q] Bricked Incredible and can't flash into recovery

So i rooted my brother's incredible and then he started installing system updates and now everything force closes. I put the zip onto the sd card but when I try to reboot into recovery, the screen blacks out with white lines down the sides...any suggestions? I told him that I would just probably have to find a way to take his phone back to stock...I'm a n00b myself so still trying to figure this out.

It sounds like it's an slcd screen. Did you use the latest unrevoked? I think that comes with an slcd compatible clockwork.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
This is what i will guess happened...because it happened to me too.
1. when you rooted his phone, you never checked that recovery was actually worked.
2. It was when you tried to recover is when you discovered it didn't work.
As the previous problem is probably because of the slcd screen. Unrevoked 3.3 supports installing recovery to the slcd versions of the phone.
3. After you gave your brother the phone back, a few hours later the nagging "system update avaliable" pop-up well, popped-up and he in stalled it thus erasing the root.
you can simply unroot it again using Unrevoked, but you will simply continue getting the message unless u are familiar enough with adb or terminal to make it stop.
The first thing you need to do after you re-root it is download Rom Manager from the marketplace and BACK UP the current setup...
If your brother really likes the feel of the Sense UI then you can DL the Virtuous Rom straight from the app. Plus the Virtuous app includes the modded flash and hulu apps.
Or you can try many of the other avaliable Roms in the app. I reccomend buying the full app btw b/c its a life saver...or at the very least leave the ads on.
also..your phone is not "bricked". It is a simple matter of removing removing the battery and putting it back in to get you on the road to recovery...pun intended.
I also HIGHLY reccomend using the search function.

I hope this helps.

Maybe that's the case with a stock rooted phone, but installing the ota from skyraider doesn't work and doesn't break root or soff.

Stuck on white Htc EVo screen after succesful flash w/ almost every Rom

Hello everyone,
I just want to say I did not make this thread prematurely. Iv had this current issue for over a month. Iv talked to various people on here and other related forums and tried everything others have suggested with nothing working, So I come here to hopefully, somehow, get an answer or a fix.
I've had my Evo since Feb, rooted almost immediately and have been trying different roms ever since. Yet I always found myself going back to CM. Well just recently, Iv run into a problem where ALMOST every rom I try to flash, it gets stuck at the white htc evo 4g screen, constantly rebooting over and over. I actually waited once for hours to see if it eventually would go into the rom but it didnt. Iv tried battery pulls, clearing cache and davlich, nothing works.
Here is what works with no issues that iv tried: Any CM, Miui, Mikfroyo, MikZ, Myns, MynsZ
WHat iv tried and does not work:Mikg, Virus, Kings, Leo, Alliance, Stock Gb,
Btw, I was originally using clockwork and was told to go to Amon Ra(latest version yes)-
Heres what exactly happens:
I download the rom, which Iv tried from my phone and my pc both. Put it on root of sd. reboot into recovery. Wipe: Cache,Davlick,Boot,System,Sd ext.,Data,Sd secure, All userdata/factory reset in that order and sometimes 2 and 3 times. I then flash the rom. The screen shows the progress of the installation of w/e rom it is, always says complete or successful. Reboot.
Almost immediately Shows the screen with the squigley colored lines then after a second or 2, phone vibrates, reboots right to white evo 4g screen. Sits on that screen for approx.10-15 seconds, vibrates goes black for 2-3 seconds and then back to the white evo 4g screen and it does this over and over til im forced to pull the battery. Very VERy frustrating.
I was told maybe the links of the downloads were bad so i tried multiple downloads of the same zip. I was told to check to see if the md5 sum thing matched, it did. I was told to download sd formatter, did that. I was told to update all the latest radios, prl, ext.
I do not know a whole lot about this but Im thinking that every Gb rom i try doesnt work. With the exception of 2 Aosp roms(cm and miui). I could be way off here but im just throwing that out there.
One thing I will mention. In the middle of trying to figure all this out, I deleted my sd card when trying to wipe. Now what is important is this issue was def. happening before I ever made this mistake. SO maybe its a moot point, I just want to mention everything.
Im hoping, praying that some of you MUCH more knowledgeable flashmatics can point me in the right direction because Iv been pulling my hair out for over a month trying everything I can read or was told to come to a conclusion as to why this would be happening.
Thank you for your time. Its much appreciated.
Try downloading and flashing a stock HTC kernel, then reflash the Rom you're trying to run .

You are the only response Iv gotten so i thank you.
Someone else mentioned this.
So I downloaded: Htc kernel #15
WHat I did was flash the rom(had been various ones) then flashed this kernel, rebooted, same result. Is this what you mean?
Have youve ever even heard of this? WHere every froyo rom iv tried works, 2 specific gb roms work(CM and miui) yet various other(gb) will not work.
Has anyone EVER heard of anything like this?
What hboot version?

My suggestion is go completely stock. Unroot with a 3.70 RUU and then root your phone again. Start from scratch and then load up or attempt to load up one of the Sprint Lovers rom and see what happens. Maybe just maybe you had a bad root. I do recommend Amon as well though.
Or try this get Caulkins wipe all zip and format your phones harddrive and load up Sprint Lovers and see what happens
I would recommend flashing the kernel first before the ROM,however, since you can successfully flash froyo ROMS,playa may be right and you should try running the ruu and starting over.I was thinking the problem was an incompatibility between an ASOP ROM and a Sense kernel but doesn't hold water if you can get froyo based ROMS to boot up.

Like I said I will try anything, so I will be trying to do this as soon as I have time. I may run into problems with how to do this, can you possibly point me in the direction or a how to? Not a problem. Turn your phone off and hold the power button and the volume down button. This will take you to the bootloader screen. The hboot and radio versions should be at the top. I'm betting your hboot is .76
I had the same issue that you did and nothing worked, I was unable to flash any new GB Rom besides cm. I tried flashing stock, using multiple versions of clockwork and amon ra. Nothing worked, updating my hboot to the latest version fixed my issue, I'm guessing its something to do with the hboot version and hardware combination. You may lose fastboot commands, if you're unsure of what those commands are I doubt you'll miss them. And recent developments have allowed for downgrading of hboot. I'll dig the link up for the latest hboot.
Edit: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=7027238
I personally flashed the 2.02 hboot for downgradability. I'd avoid 2.16 since it is so new and I've heard of issues after flashing. Anything prior to that should be fine.

This.
I was having the same problem htcevo4g03 was having and I had hboot 0.76.2000. Here is what I did:
Made a nandroid backup
Using rom manager I downgraded to clockworkmod 2.5.0.7
Downloaded hboot 2.10.0001 under Evo Stock and Radios
Wiped data and cache (I don't know is this is necessary but probably not a bad idea)
Flashed hboot 2.10.0001
Downloaded and flashed fresh evo 4.2 (a rom that wouldn't flash before) via recovery and it worked!

Hey Man,
I haven't tried anything yet but im going to this morning.
Looking at the bootloader screen, says:
Supersonic EVT2-3 SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT-2.10.001
MICROP-041f
RADIO-2.15.00.05.02
Ok so I should download anything prior to 2.16 and flash like a rom?
Thoughts after youve seen my version?

hey the reply is much appreciated!
If you read my op, I mentioned someone told me to dl sd formatter on my pc which I went through the steps and it didnt work.
Hey man If you get a chance please read my op, this is prob going on a month and a half and no fix to this point. I would have though if I brought the issue here, it would be resolved like that but it hasnt. Iv tried everything ppl have thrown at me and not a thing has worked. Other than froyo roms and 2 gb roms(cm7/miui), cannot getting anything to work. Ill flash a rom, it always says successful I reboot, turns to the white screen and gets stuck, rebooting over and ove, always back to the white screen and Im forced with a battery pull to do anything else. AMAZING!
If you can just look over the OP maybe just maybe you might have something you think could work.
The very last thing i tried, in which 2 ppl said they were having the same issue, was to downgrade the Hboot. I did this and it didnt work. SO frustrating.
The one thing I did not try that was said to do was unroot, go back to stock, and root again.
SO lost here. Again thanks for contributing to this thread.

Same situation here now
So.. i'm in basically the same situation.. with a wrinkle.
I just tried.. about 8 roms.. ALL of them get stuck on the white screen
Except.. CM 7.0.3.1.. that seems to install
Any thoughts on what the heck that could be?
Roms I tried:
miui
warm 2.2
calkins new one
kings 3d
fresh 4.2
I agree... unroot, run the s-on tool form unrevoked.
run the RUU for your phone
re-root
flash Amon Ra recovery and try a new ROM
Hey hip,
OK if I have to start from scratch I will. But since I'm a super noob, can you please be a little more specific on the steps I have to take? I don't know much about s-off and s-on tool and also what ruu is. If you can just point me in the right direction then I can follow the directions.

Boot Loops, forever.

So, I don't really post on forums because I'm pretty tech-savvy, but I have a big problem that I can't fix, and I can usually fix everything (thanks to you guys!)
This morning, my incredible acted up as I was checking an e-mail and it froze, so I decided to battery pull because restarting my phone didn't work. (Note, my incredible has been running VERY solidly on a CM7.1 nightly). As I tried to boot up the phone again, it would stay on the white HTC Incredible screen. When I rebooted into recovery thru HBOOT, i realized that there was an error mounting something, like recovery_log, or something like that (i didn't mind this because I thought I knew what I was doing), but I tried restoring my old nandroid backup that was working well, but it didn't work. It said it couldn't format /data or something... It ended up staying on the white HTC incredible screen. So, I wiped data/cache like 10 times, and dalvik cache as well and tried re-flashing a clean install of cm7.1 stable, but didn't work again - led me straight to the white Incredible screen. So, installing a fresh rom AND restoring a solid backup didn't work... so...
I found the RUU 2.3 stock rom on the development forums, and tried to install that like I do with the radios (PB31IMG.zip) through HBOOT, but no cigar. It did go PASSED the white screen, but boot loops at the Droid eye.
So, I thought I'd find a different stock img, and found the 2.2 official OTA .zip and installed it the same way, but got the exact same result (boot loops, forever).
Any suggestions? I can't think of anything else.... I feel like my phone is bricked, but I didn't do anything to make that happen.
I feel like something happened that made me not able to format the /data, and stuff. I even formatted my SDcard in case it was the problem.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
Load the RUU onto a different fat32 sd card and see if you are able to boot.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA Premium App
i'll try that and give an update. thanks for the reply!
*update* no luck. same thing happens. i tried on three different sdcards formatted fat32...
Can you factory reset and flash a ROM from a different sd than the one you were using? Description sounds like bad sd, and AOSP roms interact with the sd on boot. If original (CM 7) sd is toast, it'll never boot, hence different sd card and prefably RUU
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA Premium App
I had this happen once where no matter what rom i flashed all i got was bootloops. I had to get the stock froyo ruu.exe that you run from your pc and install it that way. Then once installed boot up and go to settings/sd & phone storage and do a factory reset from there. This factory reset is a true reset as it wipes out vzw programing also. After reset folow on screen steps to reactivate your phone, you can skip the rest of the setup. Once thats done your good to go just flash clockwork or amon ra recovery and then flash what ever rom you want. No guarantees but it worked for me.
NOTE: This assumes you are s-off, if your not after flashing the ruu you will have to use unrevoked to regain root and s-off again.
You can also try wiping /system and /boot.
*token post to get my post count high enough to ask for help in the hacking section, dumb rule btw. FAIL*
Mine is now stuck in a continuous boot as well. It's not rooted and have no idea how to fix it.
I see instructions in this thread but they mean nothing to someone who doesn't know what the abbreviations stand for or how to go about the commands required.

if you are non root. you will need to download the RUU.exe for 2.2 and install if from you pc.
http://androidforums.com/htc-droid-...mplest-instructions-ever-windows-xp-only.html
follow that and your phone will be back to the day you got it out of the box.
All the recommendations prior to Synisterwolf's post require root.
Some of the "abbreviations" are detailed in the Droid Incredible Development section. If you head over there you can read up on a beginners guide to root terms and helpful links in one of the top four threads namely:
If You're New to Modding/Rooting, Read This First! (Updated 08/05/10)
I will say though:
CM7.1 = CyanogenMod 7.1 (this is a rom)
OTA = Over The Air
2.2 = Froyo (Android software version 2.2)
RUU = basically refers to a file that people use to revert back to the Droid Incredible's pre-root status. Although there are additional steps as well.

If You're New to Modding/Rooting, Read This First! (Updated 08/05/10)
I will say though:
CM7.1 = CyanogenMod 7.1 (this is a rom)
OTA = Over The Air
2.2 = Froyo (Android software version 2.2)
RUU = basically refers to a file that people use to revert back to the Droid Incredible's pre-root status. Although there are additional steps as well.

Does it give any specific error code when it says it can't connect to the phone?
Someone correct me if I'm wrong but don't you have to have HTC sync installed on your pc to use an ruu.exe? Do you have that installed?

Mine is now stuck in a continuous boot as well. It's not rooted and have no idea how to fix it.
I see instructions in this thread but they mean nothing to someone who doesn't know what the abbreviations stand for or how to go about the commands required.

I had this issue the first time i rooted my phone and attempted to put on a ROM, and i resolved it when i found this post to get back to stock. I also used this to fix a problem where my phone had a black screen with a line through it on booting to recovery or attempting to do a nandroid back up:
droidforums.net/forum/droid-incredible-hacks/95406-how-correctly-unroot-incredible.html
All i did was basically use the PB31IMG Method without turning s=on, ( i had stock radio and still have 7.28 )
1) download that PB31IMG.zip and drop it on the root of your sd card ( it has to be named ( PB31IMG.zip ) so make use you have file extensions showing on your PC.
2) boot to hboot and and let see the file and install it
3) used unrevoked ( remove sd card ) to aquire root again.
idk if this helps, but this seems to get me out of the few weird situations i had

[Q] Battery overheating, causing reboot

Okay, so I'm brand new to this board, so I appreciate any input you can give. I have an HTC Droid Incredible, have had it over a year. Have had the phone replaced 3 times due to excessive rebooting.
I have the OEM HTC extended battery, and have had numerous issues on the battery overheating and rebooting the phone. It seems to happen mostly when using the GPS in the car. Its also happened while excessively texting.
After having the phone replaced three times, I decided to root, and am now on CM7. It was working fine for a couple weeks, then rebooted again. I then took the phone to the Verizon store, and they replaced the battery. The phone still tends to reboot!
Please give me any advice you guys might have. I'm at my wits end here!
Again, Dinc, rooted, on GB, and using CM7.
Thanks!
Undervolt. Use incredikernel and incredicontrol. Drop the minium 25 or 50 and do the same to the Max.
-My life is a shooting range, people never change-
Thanks so much, but I have no idea what you're talking about. I downloaded Incredikernel, and it bricked my phone....Any other ideas?

It bricked your phone? Can you give some more details at to what happened?
It just came back on the "HTC Incredible" white screen and did nothing. Had to reboot, and restore.
Well at least your phone isn't "Bricked". If it was your phone would not work period. How long did you let the phone sit? I'm running CM and I have Chad's latest Incredikernel and it runs like a champ! I'm assuming you are running the latest AOSP kernel correct?
I have no idea what an AOSP Kernel is, so I highly doubt I am. Last night, I had my phone in my hand for a few minutes, when to download something from the App Market, and it kept resetting. Do you think I might need to uninstall and re-install the App Market? I'm at a loss here...
CM is an AOSP Rom and needs an AOSP Kernel to run not the sense kernel. If u go to the downloads section at incredikernel.com you will see the AOSP Kernels. Download the latest version and flash it when you reboot just set the phone down and be patient. As far as the app that you installed, what app was it? You can uninstall the app and see if that fixes ur reboots
Sent from my Droid Incredible
I downloaded the kernel, and when I went to flash it from the sd card, I still get the same thing. The white "htc Incredible" screen comes on and nothing else. I've let it run for 10 minutes, then I have to pull the battery and the restore to my last backup. Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks again for your patience, I'm just a little retarded when it comes to this stuff...Btw, I like your sig, I actually sell Jager, so I truly appreciate it!
I just wanted to bump this back up to the top to see if anyone else has any ideas. I did a restore to when I first rooted the phone, and everything seemed fine. However, last night, I was watching a couple Youtube videos, and in about 5 minutes the phone reset.
I have tried to flash kernels, but cannot figure that out, so I'm still using the stock kernel from CM7. PLEASE help, I'm beyond clueless, and am about to throw this phone out the window!
Thanks in advance!
If you are flashing the latest AOSP (Gingerbread) Incredikernel it should work. You can try wiping your dalvik cache in CWM and then flash the kernel again. I have read in many posts that people have waited up 15 minutes after flashing a kernel for there phone to boot. Try that and be patient.
ok so the reason why incredicontrol didnt work is because the stock kernel doesnt have HVAS. so do this.
download :http://www.incredikernel.com/wp-con...php?id=2.6.38.8-incredikernel-gb-11272011.zip
also can you tell me which hBOOT you are running and what radio you have.
to find out what hBOOT you are running please turn of the phone.
once off hold power and vol -
at the top left of the screen please post all that is there.
for radio go into settings > about phone > Baseband Version
please post this info.
boot into CWM do not use rom manager to install.
flash zip above.
reboot and wait. it should take up to 2 min for the phone to rebuild dalvik and boot into the os.
then install incredibcontrol from market.
go to the HVAS tab and lower min by 25 and max by 25.
reboot.
report back please
(note the instructions above will only work for CM7.)
Wow, thanks for all that info! I'm working on installing that kernel now, but before I do anything, I am on Baseband version 2.15.00.07.28
It also says:
Incrediblec XC Ship S-Off
HBOOT-0.92.0000

What happens when you try to go in recovery (CWM)? Don't freak out, if you can't get into recovery you may just need to reflash it. This can be done with Rom Manager or Hboot.
Also you need to update your radio to a Gingerbread radio if you are using CM7. That is more than likely the reason your phone stays on the HTC screen after you flash the Incredikernel. If you have never updated your radio do some research first or just ask and I'll help you thru it.
I have to research the new radio... I was trying to backup from rom manager, and it still stuck on the white screen. Any suggestions on the new radio? I had no clue that it had to do that as well.

Go here http://pvillecomp.com/?page_id=18 and download the 2.15.10.07.07 (Gingerbread) radio. All you need to do is name the file PB31IMG.zip and place it on the root of your SD card, basically not in any folder. Just to be safe make sure you don't have any other PB31IMG files on the root of your SD card. Then go into Hboot (Volume down = Power button), just wait (like 5-10 seconds) and you will see that it will auto load the file. When it is ready it will ask you if you will like to install, accept by pressing the volume up button. Let it do its thing, when its done it'll ask you if you want to reboot, hit the volume up button to say yes. Make sure you have a good charge or leave it plugged in to your charger. After you do this wait and see if the phone boots properly, wait like 10 minutes or so. Let me know how that goes...
I'm at a loss here...I did just what you said, and when I get into Hboot, nothing happens....I really don't know what else to do. Is there any way to un-root the phone, and start from scratch? At this point, I cannot get into CWM, and cannot revert back to a restore, so what are my options?
Is your SD card in FAT32 format? You can check on you pc/laptop, just right click on it go to properties. If it is not in FAT32 format you will need to reformat your SD card. Before you reformat it copy everything from your card and paste it to a folder on your desktop. Then reformat your SD card to FAT32, then paste everything back to your card. This could be why your phone is not loading the PB31IMG file (The radio you are trying flash in Hboot).
Ok, stupid me renamed it .zip, as opposed to not...got the radio on there, but still cannot get it to boot into CWM. I feel I'm making a little progress. However, when I go to into Hboot, it still comes up asking if I want to upgrade the radio...It shows Radio 2-15.10.07.07

Rebooting over and over again

Hello,
sorry if u will find this thread to be repeated, but I was searching so much, and nothing helped me. After all, I think you are my last chance.
So to the problem:
One day I rebooted my Desire Z - rooted, CyanogenMod 7.2.0 RC# ( # is number can't remember which one - 2 or 3). Then I haven't paid attention to it and when I came home I noticed that phone is turned-off. So I turned it on: HTC white screen with green htc logo, CM loading screen and PIN code screen. So i entered PIN everything started loading ( i mean icons in notification bar appeared ) and then it happened: reboot. So again: logo, CM screen, PIN. I was bit slow so I didn't manage to enter PIN code and phone rebooted again. So it appears like it reboots in periods. So I start searching around the internet. I tried some things which I knew how to do, but I always found some problem. For example I can't mount USB storage while in CWM v5.0.2.7.
It appears to be boot loop, but I am not sure because I got to entering PIN code.
Help me, pls... I'm clueless.
P.S.: Sorry for my english, it's not my native language.

Umm, don't do that ^^^^^
But it does look like you have some serious issues, try this, boot into recovery and wipe cache and dalvik, now flash cm7 on top of it
If it still is causing issues then you need to do a full wipe (even better if you super wipe or fastboot -w)
Then flash ROM of choice, cm7 is great and there are many good Roms based off of cm7 I would also recommend, elitemod or ilwt for a couple nice options

I am at work right now and I left phone at home, but I can tell you I tried wiping cache. Problem appeared when I showed log of this wiping and there was something like app2s something with partitions or something like. I already formatted my card in PC (FAT32, not quick format, non-USB card reader - normal one). Should I try different card (card is gold card CID-11111111 (i don't know how many ones ))?
And if I will try what strip419 said, could something possibly happen to my phone ( in wrong way)?

I wouldn't bother with reflashing the hboot, I would try more 'non-destructive' solutions first.
Reflashing thé hboot is thé only way to format all partitions do away with any thing that could be doing this of cos you could brick your phone but if you follow rules its gonna be okay if you have adk on your pc then you could use the command tool to clear this but that could do worse damage if you are a noob so its up to you man try or keep looking for a. Solution that will end up like mine any way

You can flash recovery from fastboot or via PC10IMG.zip the same way doing a hboot reinstall would work, except in this case you don't go to such extremes to do the entire hboot over again, just the recovery and go from there. If it's an ENG hboot can use fastboot directly to flash the recovery.img, otherwise you pack it into a PC10IMG.zip and place it on the SD card.
Worse case scenario, the internal memory is fried, and attempting to do a full hboot reinstall would most likely brick it as opposed to only trying to flash a portion.
I had a repetitive reboot issue when flashing a previous ROM as well.
My noob solution was to put PC10IMG.zip back on the SD card, boot to recovery using ADB and then going through the whole process of reinstalling hboot and putting on a known ROM. Didn't brick mine and I'm new to this...
Could have done with finding this forum earlier.
all should know to be careful doing that method, if it were a stock rom and you simply flashed the pc10img.zip with radio hboot, etc in it you could get a brick easy, especially if you don't have a working rom with adb functionality.
what would happen would be (this is if you have eng s-off as most root users do) your phone would begin by flashing the bootloader, after this it would reboot and attempt to flash flash the radio, only problem is the new hboot would be ship s-on and therefore would get stuck, leving you a soft brick with a little luck it would be possible to fix this but it could be that it is unfixable depending on the exact circumstances
all this is just to say be careful what you do, noob or not, if you aren't 100% sure what you are doing when flashing firmware a brick is easy

I have a similar problem but not sure if it's the same one... When I boot up my phone it goes through all the boot images fine, but when it starts it starts sometimes with my background showing and sometimes in a blank screen but both saying Android System at the top then shortly after shut down (usually shows shutting down not just straight up turns off) I have flashed new roms, reflashed backups, even got a jelly bean rom to go through the optimizing apps screen thing then would go to a blank screen with Android System on top again, and shut down.
Any help would be amazing! I've had my G2 since it's release and would hate to think it ran out of hearts :crying:

I also have the same problem. I attempted to use superwipe g2 to no avail.
I have clockwork recovery installed, and every custom rom I try to use seems to crash 5-10 seconds after finishing to loading screen for say cm7 or cm9.
I do not have a goldcard so am wondering what the best course of action would be. I am reluctant to follow the Hboot advise as the risks mentioned seem great.
everyone having these issues should go to irc freenode #g2root (just google it) and can receive real time help there. there are too many possiblities of what is going wrong and not enough information being given to help here well.

What is the hboot way? What does that do? I'll try it, my G2 is already useless now, anything that will fix it including a dangerous way tell me
well hboot (also known as bootloader or spl) is sorta like bios on a pc. but I don't suggest trying anything rash and can't help much unless I know paticulars of your situation, if you give that I can see what I can do, but like I said before if you would like some realtime help go to freenode.
if you want help here give me details, what exactly is your problem, what have you tried to do to fix it, what method specificaly did you use to obtain root, write down everything on your hboot screen (again you get there by holding volume down while powering on)

Well I bought this phone at a swapmeet last year for 40 bucks. Everything worked and it was on gingerbread last year. In a week I googled and found a way to root by using the thread here in the forum by using adb and downgrading to froyo which was a pain for a noob using adb I just add lol, I was on elitemod gb for many months, until I was playing music a few days ago it just rebooted itself and it wouldn't boot correctly. Here's how it goes, htc white screen, boot animation, then it says android system on the top left and all black under and it shuts itself off. EVERY rom I have flashed it does that, I wiped completely and use the superwipe g2+ and still no dice. I couldn't find the 4ext recovery, I need it as a flashable zip to try it.
not really you should be able to flash it via fastboot (which is my opinion the prefered way anyhow) just google search for the image.
but I still need to know what is on your hboot screen or I can't help much further
