My father has a Rhodium from his work, it is about 2 years old.
He still has hte factory rom on it and prefers not to flash it because it is from his
work.
He forgot to charge it and now when he tries to charge the phone it keeps
rebooting to the screep HTC Touch Pro 2.
It does NOT load Windows Mobile. And it probably does not charge either
because it doesnt star even if we charge it for more than 15 minutes.
Can someone please help. We prefer a solution without flashing a new rom or
Hard-Resetting beacuese he has a lot of contacts and other data (which he
cant back up right now).
EDIT:
It works again, we tried charging it for an hour and it suddenly booted normally
after we tried starting it up. And now it charges normally
Does anyone have any idea why it started rebooting while charging?
two options, let it charge overnight or till the green light shows on a wall charger not the usb to computer, or borrow a battery from someone (or go to the At&t store & hopefully they will have a Tilt 2 in stock) install it and then properly shut off/power off the phone then put in the original battery and let charge with out turning on the phone...
rhodium rebooting
right right. i would like to charge it overnight without turning it on but it turns on by itself when its plugged in! ill try leaving it charged for a while like the previous post

Hey Guys,
I am running the Cell Pro 9.5 ROM and since yesterday my phone doesnt turn on.
So this is what happened, I never got a chance to recharge my phone yesterday and so I used it to the very last bit of juice. The phone kept switching itself off with the critical level battery warning and I kept turning it back on. So it got to a point where it wasn't switching on at all. So I pluged in the phone to the computer to charge and left it there for approximately an hour (the orange charging light was on), came back and tried to switch the phone back on and it didnt respond at all. Took out the battery, tried the soft reset button etc and everything else I thought of with no luck. So I plugged it back on and suddently it turned back on, did the boot up, loaded the touchflo and I saw the battery level was at "0" and then suddenly it turned of with a "tuck" sound (similar to a PC when you hold down the power button or turn the power off without shutting down). This has been repeating since then, I have left it plugged in and every 5-10 minutes or so the phone switches on by itself and shows the boot screen, go all the way till HTC animation and powers off suddenly. I have had no luck in turning the phone back on, I dont what is causing the issue - wether its the battery or the phone.
Please give me your thoughts....I am completely lost without my phone...
- issue was that the phone kept restarting as soon as the battery stored enough charge for a reboot. I pulled out the battery at one of the restart cycle as advised below and stopped it from repeating it. After that the phone let the battery charge without a restart, did not mess with it for a long while.
Never let the battery drain all the way down to 0%. Not sure if it affects the battery, but it sure will give you enough hassle that you wont repeat it.

The same thing happened to me last night... but mine works now. what I thought it was is that it kept turning on as soon as it had enough battery to do so then it would die and repeat... So every time it would turn on
I would take the battery out and let it charge some more and then when it quit turning back on I left it overnight and now its on...

Ok....I will try that and report back....
Sorry you pull the battery then the cord then put the battery back in then cord. Also it will take a lot longer if you charge it on the computer.
Never mind mine quit working again...

I managed to get it charging after pulling out the battery and putting it back again. Charged it through a computer cause i dont have my charger with me.
I turned it on and the battery said 40% and now every second or so it is dropping by 1%. I can literally watch it dropping down sitting here. The phone doesnt want to charge when it is on. I plug in the usb and the LED turns orange and then turns off. Now the battery is at 25%, This is litterally in about a minute or less. I dont know whats wrong, is it the Battery?
I had this exact same thing happen to me twice on previous HTC hardware (wizard). The first time I couldn't save it and just had to buy a new battery. However, the second time it happened I was able to resurrect it once I got it plugged into a higher-current charging source, like the wall charger it came with, or even most car chargers (that's how I saved it when I couldn't get to my wall charger). I had to let it sit on there for about an hour before it held enough charge to stay on, and another 2 hours before it was fully charged, but it worked just fine after that.
You battery may indeed be toast from what you describe. I have had the experience of totally discharging the battery and the device not coming on at all. I recommend that if you do this, you should fully charge it using the wall charger NOT the computer (if the computer works at all. it didnt in my case). I have done this a few times now and the battery turned out fine each time.

Thanks.....
My issue seamed to be fixed. I had to rely on a computer as I didnt have access to my charger and by the time I did my phone was at approximately 65% charge. I plugged it in and charged it all the way to 100%. Replugged it and left it for a little more while to make sure it got charged completely. I have been using it since today morning 9am and now it is 2pm at 73% after couple of calls, messages and emails.
Few more charging cycles with the wall charger and I am hoping it will be back to normal.
Having massive issues right now. Last night I left my phone plugged in AC to charge and ran a sleep tracker app. Woke up this morning and found the phone dead. I tried unplugging and plugging again multiple times and managed to get the Red LED blinking then it went steady indicating it was charging. Turned the phone on but as if it wasn't charging anymore, it powered off within minutes. I managed to get recovery running and factory reset (running CM10). Same issue still there. I even tried leaving the phone in hboot and recovery to charge but after 10 mins the battery went flat again. Now I've just left the phone off and plugged into AC. The blinking LED came on again then went steady - but after 15 mins the LED light disappears. I just left it like that, now the phone tries to boot up but gets stuck at HTC logo. Also it is incredibly hot.
Any ideas? Really need help here.
Additional info, installed NFS: Most Wanted yesterday, tried playing but phone really overheated big time. Could that have cause the motherboard to fry? Just seems odd though cause it boots up fine, just won't stay on - can't even get past the initial setup wizard.
Also I would take it back to Vodafone AU but since I can't get the phone up long enough to restore to stock, they might find out I've rooted and thus voiding my warranty.
I had the same problem. I installed NFS MW and it drained my battery like help and when i tried recharging it it wouldnt charge
at all. Even when i pluged the phone on it wouldnt charge. Tried a different cable. For all it could be a adapter/cable problem.
That was what it was for me. I tried a different charger and it worked. If you are using a different charger, use something with 1A output.
If the led is blinking, it means that the battery is verryy low.
once your phone turns on, turn the airplane mode ON and display OFF and wait a few minutes before using the phone.
no luck

Yea, I tried using a different cable, even tried using my old iPod USB to wall adapter. No luck there, but I think I'm on to something now. Thanks anyway
getting there

Hey, yea I figured that much from searching around. Too bad it's such a big flaw. I couldn't sustain a charge at all when I was still on CM10. Couldn't even finish booting up and it would just die. Voltage was super low was my guess. Tried using the fastboot charging script (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1658084&page=5) and managed to get battery up enough to flash stock boot.img, did a nandroid restore to Stock ROM then flashed stock recovery. Seems to be stable now, in airplane mode and display off. Started up phone at 4% and now it's at 6% so fingers crossed :fingers-crossed: Thanks for the reply though - needing all the tips I can get!
I have had my phone for around 2 years and have had no real problems with it until now. Recently, it refuses to charge when plugged into the wall and instead loses charge rapidly. It used to charge when plugged into the computer but I did that today and it said it was fully charged but then 10 mins later it just shut down. Since then it will not charge or turn on and I have tried removing the battery and performing a factory reset which didnt work. It will come up with the charging icon for a bit then it will go off and I cant get it back for ages. Will a replacement battery fix it or is it completely dead? A temporary fix would be fine as I am planning to get a new phone soon anyway.
So about a year ago my charge port started burning every time I plugged it in, and in the drawer it went. A couple of days ago I decided to crank open the back cover and just replace the charge port myself and voila, it works. I've gotten it to turn on and I let it charge for hours, but it gets to about 14 percent after an overnight charge. As well as that, when I turn on the phone nothing detects it, and it certainly doesn't charge. When it does charge (which is when it is turned off) It charges for about 5 seconds then stops and starts charging again. I've looked for answers and all I am finding is restarting the phone, sending it back, or some weird process in broken English I can't remotely understand. I'm not really afraid of losing data but I don't want to re-do s-off and recovery as I believe I had trouble in the past. Is factory reset my only option?
Guys, i need your help. My phone suddenly died when i was charging it. Tried in the charger and was able to switch on, bat perctage is still showing as 30%. wHen i removed the charger it died again repeat the same thing and was stock in samsung logo. Was able to read one forum and owner experienced the same thing. What he did was used a diff bat. Tried it and it worked, so i purchased a msn hk replacement bat, however when i tried to switch the phone off while charger was plugged, it didnt work. No red led light, bat percentage dis not increase, no bat cahrging logo, so obviously it was not charging.i Inserted usb charger again and tried to switch off the phone but it just restarted. So the big problem is, every time that the bat is fully drained, i cant charge it using a usb charger, i need to use a universal charger 1st to boot the bat a bit then palce it back again so i can switch on the phone then use the usb wall charger. to ssummarize the problem, Phone Is charging as long as it is switched on but wont charge if its off and wont shut off while charging. Any one experienced the same thing? Is this due to the replacement bat? Need ur help guys, thanks
Up guys
