I have entered recovery mode by holding the power button and the volume down button, Then pressing the bottom right hand corner of the screen. After this a menu appears. One of the Options is to Wipe data/Factory reset. I was just wondering if this is a factory reset as i would imagine it as in the way it was when i got it from the shop or if it goes deeper than that. Also i noticed that their was no NANDROID backup option their, any ideas where it could be? Many thanks in advance

I guess you have installed tenfar's Clockwork MOD recovery. You may find the "system recovery" in application menu. Press "install recovery system" option and then press "recovery boot". Your phone will auto restart and toward a place which may process nandroid backup & restore.

Ok, I am having a MAJOR ISSUE. On OMJ's ROM. I'll probably re-post tomorrow morning, because I need help. I downloaded the new ROM using ROM Manager. Then I cleared off the storage using clockwork, and flashed the new ROM from the phone. The market was broken, and Titanium wasn't working. Then I tried re-wiping so that I could restore my backup, and from clockwork it said that the backup was having an error. Now I can't get out of the fastboot screen. When I hit reboot, the phone boots into fastboot... Can someone please help?
When I turn on my phone, I have the white screen with the skateboarding android robots at the bottom. At the top is green words starting in SUPERSONIC.
My options are:
Bootloader
Reboot
Reboot Bootloader
Power down

this doesn't belong in the development section. should be in Q&A.
but, turn off your phone and hold the volume down key and the power button. you should get the skateboarding androids but your bootloader should have an option to go to recovery. not sure exactly what you did, but once you get into recovery just flash another rom.
Sorry bout the location. It goes into the damn clockworkmod recovery screen when I do this. When I go to install zip from sd card, and choose the omj one, it just kinda skips over it, the screen goes back to the menu like it did do something, then I hit reboot, and I'm back on the skateboard screen. Gawd I hope I didn't brick it.

OMG, I did what you said, and I cleared it twice more, and it let me flash! Now should I go back into the recovery menu and clear my factory settings, and wipe dalvik etc to be sure?

if you already cleared your data and did a factory reset then you're set. just flash a rom and you should be good to go.
it's not a brick if your phone turns on btw.
I'm not sure if it works for the evo or not but try connecting to the computer and typing fastboot oem boot
That should reload you to where you were.
Then once your in your phone, just start from a clean slate by re rooting and copying the pc36img from toast tut. And running that.
BTW. Sorry if I sound drunk. It's because I am. I'll fix my post tomorrow if i read it.

If u made a clockwork backup reboot doing down and power buttons. Go to partitions., mount sdcard and plug your phone in to computer.. put a rom on the root of your sdcard,. Hit unmount sdcard,. Hit power,. Install zip from sdcard,. Then volume up once and you should see the rom zip you put on the sdcard, . Hit it and u should be all good from there..

I am on CM6 Nightlies and I flashed the Gala S Theme. Now I'm stuck in a bootloop. Is there a way to nandroid restore without a computer?
Thanks.
This is what I can do with my phone to get into recovery on the fly
Assuming you are fully rooted with Nand Unlocked (Toast Part 1 & Part 2 or the equivalent using simple root)....
1. Turn your phone off
2. Hold the volume down button, then press and hold power
3. A white screen will pop up, wait for it to finish, then navigate to recovery using the volume down button and press the power button.
4. You are in recovery!
This works on my phone, if you get the Android with an exclamation point after clicking recovery from the white bootloader screen, I am almost positive you will need a computer.

ohh, i guess i'll be needing a computer since i got the red exclamation inside the triangle, right?
thanks for the reply.
If you are fully rooted then the easiest and fastest way to get to recovery is via Rom Manager, there is an option to boot right into recovery. This takes the less amount of time. Once in recovery there will be ab option for Nandroid then the back and restore option...

He's in a bootloop...rom manager isn't available.
Have you tried pressing volume up and power at the red exclaimation point? In the older versions of Clockwork Recovery, that was required to get it to load. (Which recovery were you using to get the nandroid in the first place?)

Hi there.
My ClockworkRecovery has become unresponsive. I can get the main menu of Clockwork (reboot, flash update.zip, etc...) but when I select an option, it just goes to a black screen. selecting reboot doesnt even reboot the device. I downloaded and reflashed another Clockwork recovery, but it still has this issue.
Does anyone know how to ADB flash a new rom from the zip file provided? thanks

Are you using the Power button to select the option, as you do in HBOOT?
If so, you don't do this in custom recovery - you use the trackpad button.
Regards,
Dave

ah, thank you my good man. I have spent so much time in HBOOT it was an instinct.
dont flash leedroid if you have a slcd screen. it breaks recovery
My EVO is running 2.2 and rooted (quickboot works and I have superuser)
I download a ROM with Rom Manager, I tell it to backup and wipe. then boot.
the EVO come up with 4 options: Bootloader, reboot, reboot bootloader, power down.
and just sit there, NOW WHAT!!!
(a power down and then back on returns me to what i had before.)
You're in the bootloader screen. It's white, click on bootloader and it should take u a screen that says recovery, fastboot etc. You can do a nandroid backup manually and install the rom manually as well...which i recommend to do because clockworkmod is known to not wipe properly. And u posted in the wrong section

thanks for replying.
hitting the power button on bootloaded will return me to the same four options
That's only happened to me when I had a ROM that didn't load. From the white screen click the "recovery" option and try to load your ROM from there.
thanks for help.
When I do a Volume/power on and hit power at recovery my options are Bootloader, reboot, reboot bootloader, power down

If I'm not mistaken I think its doing that because the recovery was not flashed correctly. Try going back to "Rom Manager" and choose the "Flash Recovery" option and then try to load your rom. That same issue happened to me and that solved the problem.
Thanks for replying.
that did it > Fixed
thanks again
Thanks that solved it, thanks again.
I was in recovery and had done a factory reset/clear data, formatted system and wiped cash partition. when i went to select "choose zip to flash" i accidentally selected "restart system now" which tried to reboot the phone.
Now i am not able to get into recovery. The 3 button method makes the phone vibrate like it is coming on but the screen never comes on. if i plug it into power, then battery charging image plays on the screen but i just cant get it to kick over.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
bump.

if you still can't get into recovery by using the 3 button method try booting into download mode and flash one of the pre-rooted stock firmwares using odin since you already formated everything: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1949687 and then download rom manager and flash cwm
