[Q] [q] G2 stuck and cant flash anything - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I had recovery 2.5.1.3 and i flash the first rom available that had gingerbread in it and i upgraded my recovery to 3.0.0.0 via terminal emulator and then i tryed to flash a more recent gingerbread rom and now i get stuck at the slash screen and cant use adb to downgrade my recovery to fix it that way .

You need andriod to boot to use ADB,
You dont need andriod to boot to use fastboot, you can enter fastboot from recovery.

I never even installed adb while my phone was working i always used other android apps to bypass the need for it

Oh, well I dont think I know of any other way, so you push recovery from terminal emulator and now you cant get to terminal emulator, right?
The only thing I can think of is get AndriodSDK up and running so you can flash from fastboot.
Hopefully someone else has some other ideas, good luck.

That sucks bro, well I hope someone has a way around this for you, I know that Ive been keeping up with both of the CM7 threads and there were lots of warnings ( even from Cyanogen himself) to people about flashing unstable builds, Im pretty familiar with all this stuff, using ADB, fastboot etc. and even then Im still leary about flashing CM7.0 rc0. I dont feel like beta testing with my $500 phone, I know none of this helps you right now but maybe it will help someone else before they flash things without knowing how to use AndridoSDK, ADB etc.
Good Luck, keep searching maybe something else will come up.

Error [140]: Bootloader version error?

Hey all, I originally had Damage 3.2.2 installed, had wimax update, and the new radio, everything was fine, I am now trying to restore everything back to factory with the HTC Android ROM update utility, v1.0.2.10. I plug it in, go through the steps, it starts to wipe everything, then when it starts copying files it gives me this error. So when it canceled and the phone rebooted, it was just stuck on the white evo screen and loops. I figured it was just because of the new update and all, so I was still able, (thanks god) to flash over Bugless V03. Tryed to use the utility again, and still gives the error. Can anyone help get me back to factory please? thanks for the help I would like to go get my new EVO with out any worry.
So you still have root and access to the recovery console? Odd that you are having problems restoring. Instead of using the exe file, I believe you can flash the zip file using the phones built in hboot menu instead. I don't think it will check the software version first, it's worth a shot. I think you have to name it PC36IMG.zip I think. I would find the exact info but I'm not on a pc at the moment.
Edit:
Check here too, but it's not good:

I didnt use the OTA update, I flashed Damage 3.2.2, it never effected my ROOT or NAND, I just need to get it back to factory so I can return my phone for a new one. They got one waitin on me to pick up tomorrow afternoon. I have to work all day so I have to either stay up, and figure this out or, if I cant figure something out then I will have to cross my fingers when I go up there tomorrow. I have already spoke with a rep in person, he seemed cool. He looked at my phone for a good minute, scrolled through a few things, I couldnt see what it was, but he just handed it back to me and told me to just come back tomorrow at the same time, and hell swap it. I didnt realize it but I was already on a list for the phone, so Im gettin it either way I guess. I just dont want anything to happen when I go up there. Even if I could just flash over something updated or not just looked "stock" maybe I can just slip in and out.
Ahh okay. Well, look around for the zip format of the exe file in the "how to go back to stock" thread a few posts down.

I see that thread, but all I do see is just the .exe files, no zip. There isnt just a installer like with the old version, I have the older exe, before I flashed damage3.2.2 I could easily go back to factory by running that exe and goin through the steps
Alright, this is what I was talking about, I posted it in another thread:
I think he can try restoring to factory.
Download this:
http://www.joeyconway.me/evo/stock/R...253_signed.zip
Rename it PC36IMG.zip and put it on the root of the SD card.
Turn off the phone, hold volume down and turn it on, it should boot into hboot, sort of a factory recovery
It will automatically detect the zip file and ask if you want to apply it. Select yes, and it should restore to factory.
If you continue to have problems, then there is probably something wrong with the phone and it'll need to be returned.

Yup, that would do it. Hope you can get it worked out before you take it back.

If you still have recovery flash dc 3.2. This should rest you bootlegger.
Then run a ruu.
Nooo, I think that is a different file. You can try searching for the link i tried go link that doesn't work, but I doubt it will work if you updated the boot loader. The method I was suggesting would have restored to stock, but with a newer bootloader I'm not sure what to do exactly.
Edit:
If damage control 3.2 has an older bootloader it should work, give it a go.

If you still have NAND unlock, then try this starting at step 2. This will enable you to downgrade.

Ok you may need to install the driver for that too. On your computer go to device manager with the phone in hboot/fastboot. See if the driver is installed. Its the same driver as the last driver you installed for regular adb, but you have to install it for both one in each mode. Hope you get what im saying.

Not sure, it has to be a driver issue on the pc. Try uninstalling all the drivers, and restarting from scratch. Install the driver with the phone on and booted, then install same driver while in hboot/fastboot. Mabey take a break and come back to it, if you stare at it too long you start becoming a zombie and make mistakes.
yea
that still didint work, i have the drivers all of the updats and i just cant get it to reconize it

I think i know how you hardbricked your G3
Its because you wrote the G2 versions of the android bootloader, kernel and download mode partition
Its because of these commands below. It would have copied these partitions to your phone and then written them to your device
adb.exe push aboot.img /data/local/tmp/aboot.img
adb.exe push laf.img /data/local/tmp/laf.img
adb.exe push boot.img /data/local/tmp/boot.img
adb.exe push recovery.img /data/local/tmp/recovery.img
You can follow this guide instead with the D855 TOT+DLL but im doubtful it will work. This methods seems to be hit and miss http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2772199
If it also wrote the System Bootlooder your phone would have automatically kicked into QHUSB_DLOAD and that is alot easier to fix than this

Hello,
You need to read this post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...signing-boot-images-android-verified-t3600606
The thread contains a zip (verified boot signer v2 zip) that you must install right after you install the TWRP zip on latest May version...
This is weird your phone is not recognized while in bootloader.
Boot the bootloader and issue:

Does it output your serial number in the command prompt?
Good luck...

You shouldn't be modding you're device if you have to rely on a toolkit to save you. What if there wasn't a toolkit. You'd be SOL.
I highly recommend you learn how to use fastboot and adb, and do this stuff the right way. I'm not trying to be mean or anything. I just would hate to see you brick you're device. These pixel phones cost way too much to be screwing around with if you don't know what you're doing.

Honestly the best way I found to learn adb and fastboot is YouTube. It's so much easier to watch how to do it. Thats how I learned. There's also @Heisenberg 6p guide. That can get you all setup for adb and fastboot too. It's very comprehensive.

flash stock firmware with locked device?

I bought my buddy a phone to use while he was working with me. 4 days later he quits and didn't want to give the phone up so he wiped it while logging in locking the phone. I bought the phone used off Facebook perfectly unlocked so no receipts or anything. I know that pretty much stops me from proving this is my phone but my question is if it's possible to just flash the stock firmware over the already stock firmware, wiping the phone? I've done all the little tricks and have gotten in the settings, installed test dpc etc but it has the newest security patch and I can't get it unlocked that way. Any help would be really really appreciated. I don't really like moto phones and id like to recoup some cash from it.
Anyone? I would even take the paid service route if anyone could tell me it's possible. I've gotten into the settings but none of the usual apps or tricks work to bypass the lock. I know this is a grey area because of security issues but man im having a hard time accepting this thing as paper weight
