Idk if this is the right forum, but I've been trying to download the free version of Rom manager from the market & keep getting an error msg that its not properly signed therefore the installation fails. Any help would be appreciated.
I'm running The Nameless Dope Rom with a stick kernel on a SLCD Incredible, rooted with Unrevoked software if that helps any.

Uninstall the one you have. Then download the one from the market.

Thank you, it took a bit of digging to find it, it was hidden in Astro file manager, I recognized it by the icon alone (lol), thank you for the help.

I believe there is a guide to all this. You should check it and see if that could help answer your question(s). Best of luck

not sure, but worth a try
i think you can just download rom manager and hit "flash clockworkmod recovery" at the top. tell me if this works.
Do I have to wipe first?

Nope. Just download rom manager and there is an option to flash clockwork mod as your recovery. That's what I did. No need to wipe or anything, it does it instantly from the app.

I'm using Fresh 3.1.0.1 (haven't updated to .2 yet) with Netarchy's kernel.
Everything requiring root works, 54 fps works, as does all the normal stuff (camera, etc), but with all of the Sprint junk removed. Simple but exactly what I wanted.
For some reason I can't flash my radio/wimax/pri to the latest versions for some reason, I boot into ClockworkMod Recovery 3.0 and run the .zip file and it looks like it's running and it says updating radios for a split second then it takes me back to recovery.
Is there something I'm doing wrong?
I think you have to reboot before it flashes the images
I have tried first flashing the rom and then reboot into recovery and flash the .zip file but it still does the same thing, run for a split second and then go back to recovery and when I boot and check the radio version iit shows no change

Try using a lower version of clockworkmod... lots of problems for people with the versions 3+. I currently use 2.6.0.1 and everything works perfectly. 3+ is meant for the newest of new Rom's like Cyanogen 7... if your not on that, flash an older version.
P.s. stick with 2.6.0.1 as it backs up your wimax keys...
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I will give that a shot. Thanks for the help!
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
In rom manager it only shows 2.5.0.7
Is there a link to how to flash to 2.6.0.1?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Yes I'm on my evo so I'm not going go searching for it... but you should be able to find it fairly easy. If I remember correctly I had to get the correct file, then rename it to pc3600.img then boot into bootloader and it will auto find it and ask you if you want to start the update.
Or you could just use the version that Rom Manager has but it wont back up your wimax and if you somehow lose that you'll hate your life...

After some research I found an image and some steps to flash the recovery. After that the install and radio updates went flawless. I really appreciate the advice!

i have downloaded a Rom named IncRom_1.1 via Rom manager app it works fine and i like it. The only issue is that i wanted to download a new Rom but i cant install it. It will download with no problems and it will begin to install but just before it is done installing it just reboots and my current Rom is still there can someone help me. Im still kinda new to this whole thing my mobile device is the Droid Incredible thanks in advance
You can try manually flashing it in recovery or maybe try going back to an older version of clockwork mod.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Being someone who took five months before I tried to flash manually due to issues with a browser, just say screw rommanager, causes more problems than anything :/
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
So what in your opinion is a good substitute for rom manager

Wrong place for this thread, but try a manual install via CWM. Reboot into recovery or turn phone off and hold down pwr+volume down then install via SD card.
Sent from my Incredible using XDA App
Maybe try wiping the cache etc. That's what happened when I tried to flash my stock rom from virtuous. Yeah the best is go into recovery and flash it from there.

Thanks guys and sorry if its the wrong place for this thread I'm still kinda new to xda

HUH? Please be a bit more specific. I mean, what kind of update ate you trying to download? What rom are you using? What method are you using to get the failed update?

I'm using kernel manager app and running cm7 latest nighty. Also running tiamat evo kernel, a new update popped up for tiamat and when I go in k.m app to download update I keep geting error message. Usely it downloads new kernal and flashes it for me..it always worked before. Now it wont work and I'm stuck... help???
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
Is Kernel Manager installed to the SD card? If so, move it back to internal storage and it should work.
I deleted downloaded update file from kernal manager. And just tried to download godmode and it worked...must have been a bad file from tiamat. Cause everything's working now.

Got a better idea. Uninstall Kernel Manager and go d/l the kernel and install it like it was meant to be, in recovery....

Might be better off with goo manager and installing twrp. Also when you have an issue, give as much detail so people can be more helpful

Sent from my ADR6350 using xda app-developers app
Check the md5 sum and see if it matches up, or if ur lazy re-download the rom, just make sure its for incredible 2. It could be a bad download. Also I believe you have to flash the kernel after the rom as well
Sent from my Incredibly still working
Okay some help here I know it was right ROM, how do I get right kernal ?
Sent from my ADR6350 using xda app-developers app
Roms have the kernel included no reason to flash different kernel unless you are wanting to change clock settings or voltages or fix problems such as volumes.

Thank you, okay so can anyone link me with a ROM reliable one ?

ClockworkMod is the recovery I started out with, it should work just fine and will not affect flashing a ROM. After a few weeks I switched over to 4ext recovery. But I would get a little more familiar before jumping around to much. Have you successfully flashed a custom rom yet? One other thing you may check is the radio version, I recommend upgrading to the .312 or .320 radio.
Not on this phone done rooting on nook color and my first Android so I need to flash a radio and a ROM ?

Download condemned cm.7.2 on your PC and put it in the root of your SD card. I hope you made a backup of your old ROM before you tried this seeing as you're not booting atm

I haven't seen this answered (or I'm blind)...Are you S-Off, or HTC Unlocked?
I am s off help me
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Okay sorry correction I am only unlocked do I need to s off ?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Now everything makes more sense...The preferred method for flashing roms here is s-off. It can be done without. I believe the method involves extracting the boot.img from a rom then after flashing the rom, flash the boot.img with fast boot. I haven't done it, so I can't give you better details on that, however it is covered at length in many of the rom threads, so I think a search for "boot.img" should get you on your way quickly. You'll probably want to search with the desktop version of xda.
Edit: However, I think the consensus is that getting s-off isn't terribly hard and saves a lot of headache down the road, so I would recommend that. Again, there are threads with all the info you need.
Thank you, looked at s off method and going to try that tonight then I should be churning through Roms thank you !

No problem. I do have one more suggestion. When you are s-off and comfortable with things, find the twrp thread in development. It's my opinion, and I can't say I've tried all the options, but twrp is way easier to use than the normal CWM. There are other options you could consider; 4ext and CWM touch. It's all about the research around here.
