[Q] Need help with pri,nv, and radio issue. - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just flashed the newest pri,nv,radios bundle and now my phone runs like crap, its real sluggish and reboots randomly are the two biggies, no matter what I do. I have flashed multiple roms, hard resets, tried flashing the older pri and nv and nothing seems to work. any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

I assume you are flashing 3.70 Roms.. Don't flash the combo pack. I would suggest flashing the pcimg via found in the sprint the 3.70 sprint lovers rom. (flash via bootloader NOT recovery) This will wipe your phone. However you will be on a nice rom (imo).
Alternatively flash Fresh 3.5, then download the pri, nv, radios, from fresh updater. Make sure you wipe everything before hand. Again IMO fresh is a nice rom.
Or flash radio, wimax, pri, nv, idividually with reboots in between.
All above methods have worked for me.
BTW this is in the wrong forum should be in Q&A so prepare to get flamed, I probably will too.

Running MynRls4 and the latest release of Vaelpak. The Vaelpak seems to run the best only slightly sluggish and the occasional random reboot. Myn however is slow as all get out and crashes all the time. Nothing else has been done other than rooting and flashing a custom Rom and the radios.

Just came back to say thanks you really saved my Bacon. Flashed the Sprint lovers Rom and all is well again. I'm still relatively new to all this so thank you again I really appreciate it.

Ha glad I was able to finally help someone. Now flash this http://www.ciamosbase.com/up/Riptide9_V12_3_70_Only_signed.zip and make it pretty (Thank Rip for that)

The newest radio isn't compatible with older kernels. Flash the previous radio back and you'll be golden

phone is suddenly painfully unresponsive

I've been rooted for about a month now, playing with various roms and loving it.
However, today, I decided to try FrEak's newest rom using netarchy/toasts latest kernel. Things were going pretty well for a while, then all of a sudden, everything either quit responding or is taking at least a minute to respond, i.e. notification bar, menus opening/closing, touchscreen, etc.
So I did a complete wipe, cache, etc. and flashed the latest BakedSnack rom, again, with netarchy kernel, and same issue.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm wondering if going back and re-rooting would help....but if I do, should I use SimpleRoot or the newest unrevoked?
This is killing me!!!!
Last good responding rom I had was Fresh 3.1.0.1, but haven't tried reflashing that to see if it's the roms I'm using or something wrong with my phone.
Thanks in advance.
try a different kernel.

[Q] 3G Not Working after Downgrade?

Hey all, long time lurker, first time poster....unfortunately....
So after sitting on MIUI for a good while, and having a blast with it, I decided to try out some other ROMs. I was interested in seeing Cyanogen 6, and so I went about attempting to get the latest stable, non RC ROM onto my EVO. I read into it seeing that I needed to downgrade my hboot, and found the image without a problem (running the .76 right now, had the 9something one before...)
Well, I downgraded my hboot without an issue, flashed the Cyanogen, and got into a splashloop. I figured out it was becaue I hadn't wiped my cache or data before flashing the rom, so I went into the Clockwork Recovery and wiped those, flashed once more, and it booted into Cyanogen perfectly!
Well, almost. I don't have 3G now.
For some reason, I am unable to connect to 3G no matter what I try. My nandroid's broke due to the hboot downgrading, rewiping the cache/data and reflashing cyanogen did nothing, and now for some reason, when I attempt to go back to MIUI, it still will not allow me to connect to 3G. I can send and receive texts, and make and receive calls, but alas, no data connection.
Should I get a fresh RUU and stock hboot, upgrade and restart from scratch? I just want to get back to MIUI at this point with a working, data enabled phone.....
If that's the case, that I do need to start over, where can I find a new hboot for the EVO that isn't .76? I'm pretty saavy when it comes to this stuff, but for some reason right now I just can't figure it out....
HTC EVO running MIUI v0.11 stable
.76 hboot w/ Clockwork recovery
Broken nand backup
whatdo?
Thanks in advance for the help
Sorry for the double post, but I resolved my issue.
I am unsure of what exactly went wrong, but I figured it was somewhere between downgrading my hboot, and flashing the CM 6 stable ROM that my 3G data got scrambled....
So! Using ROM Manager, I made a backup of my working (non 3G) MIUI image, and flashed the Odyxed version of the RUU found here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=836728). After flashing in Recovery, it booted into SenseUI, and worked like a charm!
My 3G hath returned, and issues have been solved. It's nice when you're able to fix things on your own, though I couldn't have done it without the help of that handy dandy search button, and the RUU keyword
Oh, yeah, and I guess xxbabiboi228xx as well.....maybe....^_~

Please Help! Only Getting 3.5 MFLOPS

Here is the problem. I just picked up my replacement EVO running 3.30 and hboot 2.02. I rooted via the Savior Edition yesterday. I flashed Myns RLS 4. The problem is when I run Linpack I am only getting around 3.5 mflops.
Here is what I have tried:
Flashed different Kernals
Wiped everything
flashed the rom numerous times
etc etc etc etc
But for whatever reason nothing seems to fix the problem. My device just seems overall to be very laggy and nothing like my previous EVO.
Could it be the new radio, PRL, PRI that got updated during the rooting process?
Any help would be appreciated!
Benchmarks don't really mean to much, the question is how is the acting? Does it seem sluggish it anything??
sent from my DAMN EVO
Make sure your radios, PRI and kernel match. If you installed the 1.90 PRI then you need to be running the 3.70 software, have the latest radios installed, and a kernel that works with it, HTC #15 or the latest netarchy based kernels work. If you don't have the correct combination your fun will be really laggy and buggy.

Couple of issues with Wifi/Radio updates

So I recently installed MIUI, and as soon as I did my Wifi radio stopped working. Every time I try to switch it, it turns back off and says "error."
I figured this was a problem with my radio (26.02.01.15_M2) when I found another irksome problem. When I go to flash PC10IMG.zip the bootloader gets to "Checking PC10IMG.zip) and then quits and refuses to attempt the update.
Any ideas?
I apologize if this question has been asked, but I couldn't find anything similar in the short search I did.
Thanks in advance!
Could be a bad download? Which Radio are you trying to flash?
Download the radio from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=970809
Dont know what ROM you are running but Vision_Radio_12.52. 60.25_26.08.04.30 seems to be a good one, download the attached file for wiping the EFS(Important when flashing radios)
The link has further instructions and information, hope that helps
Hey, thanks for your response! I actually tried three different Radios from that thread (the first three), and none of them worked. I ran an efs wipe yesterday because I was having GPS problems, and these problems persisted after that...
FWIW, when I flash other kernels/ROMs, things work fine (CM7, PyroMod, Stock) but on MIUI these problems crop up.

Do you mean you can update the radio with other ROMs or do you mean that the wifi problem is only on MIUI?If your problem is only with MIUI cant help as I dont use that ROM but still doesnt explain your problem with flashing a radio as the bootloader is independent of the ROM
I think the wifi radio and the cellular radio are different and when you flash the radio firmware, it only updates the cellular radio firmware. Someone more knowledgable than me will probably correct me. It's probably something screwy with the MIUI roms which is effecting you. If you want to use MIUI then try one of the other MIUI roms that are out there and also notify the developer of the MIUI rom your using about your issue.
I hate the recent radios for G2 latest one from Bell sucks. Signal drops every few seconds, data connection is just OK. Very disappointed. I did the efs wipe and auto ril matcher V6 and all this other bs and I hate it.

Update Kernel/radio questions

Hi,
As above..
I've had my desire rooted for ages now running lots of different roms, very happy with how awesome the phone is, especially running ics.
Just wondering if there's any point in flashing the kernel... everything has worked great when I've just flashed the rom in the past, never had any issues (full wipe almost every time).
Also re flashing the radio, is there any major benefit to this?
Cheers
Updating the radio can improve reception/battery life/wifi reception. I have tried updating the radio once and because i was hoping to improve things. After testing the radio everything looked fine until i put it to everyday use. Everytime i called someone/receieved calls as well my call will drop out every 10-15mins for everyone. After a week of use i decided to go back to my original radio. So flashed radio and installed the correct ril file and started using it normally. Everything was back the way it was. So no drop outs and everything was fine. So for me i decided to stick with my original radio. So after i flash any rom i would just install the ril file that was for my radio version.
So it's up to you if you want to try a new radio. If it works, GREAT. If it doesn't, well at least you learnt something new (meaning you know how to flash a radio and revert back). Make sure you find a copy of your original radio/ril files before updating. It really helps!!!!
If you haven't found this link yet then it might be useful
