Dialer, ##3282# Call, Settings

I tried that and choose 3G then back out. But when I go back in it shows in automatic again. Is there something I am missing to save the setting?

No, it's in 3G only if you chose 3G only. Whenever you go into that menu, it shows Automatic. Have you seen it drop to Edge after choosing 3G only? I haven't.

2G mode and 3G mode only

I've noticed in the menu options, there is an option to keep the phone in 2G mode only. On the other hand, is there any way to keep the phone in 3G / 3.5 / 4G mode? Any software that can do this?

The phone will only switch to 2G if faster speeds are not available. The 2G mode option allows you to prevent the phone from switching to faster (and more battery consuming) data connections....
From the dialer, you can type in *#*#4636#*#* to bring up some "secret" settings. From there you can configure your phone to only use 3G.

How about if I don't want 2G at all and want it to stay 3G only, even if there is no signal? I remember this option on the SGS 2..

Go into phone info. From there if you scroll down a bit you will see a text that says something like "GSM/CDMA auto". Press that and you should get a drop down menu. Change the setting to "CDMA only". That should work.

Not sure how that disables 2G (1xRTT). Unless I'm mistaken, both 1xRTT (2G) and EVDO (3G) run on top of CDMA.
Also, you can get to this from settings->wireless & networks->More...->Mobile Networks->Network Mode
There you can select LTE/CDMA or CDMA.
And it always sticks

LTE/CDMA in ro.radio.networkmode screws up phone.

Hi, guys I recently ran into an issue with the build prop modification in regards to network selection. If I enable the network selection as pointed out in one of the other threads and select LTE /CDMA my phone will lock on LTE however no phone calls can be made out or recieved. I had to reflash to 10k then reroot and then change the build prop to CA/TLS and finally hardreset via stock recovery. Anybody else have this issue?
UPDATE... looks like as long as i dont try to make a call the option to switch it back to auto is still there. One a call is attempted and fails the option to set to auto disappears.

I understand but after it's been on LTE for a while it doesn't give you the option to switch back.

How are you changing it? Changing it via Build.Prop? Then there is your problem, JUST change it using the setting under mobile networks..

I'm changing it under mobile networks.
Stop changing it to lte/cdma and you're phone will no longer mess up. Leave it on gsm/wcdma/lte auto. You're phone will switch when the appropriate network is available!!!

Simple fix. Just select airplane mode for a few and then toggle it off and you'll see your network options come back once data roaming turns off and your carrier logo appears. I typically run lte/CDMA to get consistent lte speed bit when a callsade I have the same issue as you. But I just gave your the fix so your good

Thanks a lot captain obvious, the point of the thread wasn't to "not switch it" dude, it's finding a work around and make everybody aware of what happens.

How to switch 3G Only

How I can switch my Fire Phone to 3G Only Band? Some App or somthing? Who help? :what:
Go to the dialer, enter *#*#4636#*#* and tap "Phone Information". On the next screen, you can select 'WCDMA preferred' from the drop-down menu. However, I'm not sure if the phone will automatically reset itself back after a restart or whatnot.
Yes. I discovery that. Its simple and easy. Now for me, a very good phone.
Is there anyway to turn off 3G ? for use 2G GSM only mode , I want to use EDGE option since my area has the weak 3G signal.

You follow the same steps I gave in my previous post. Instead of selecting WCDMA preferred, you select GSM only in the drop-down menu.

Thank you it works great without reset the phone.
And easier and lazier way is to install the app "Phone testing", it is the shortcut to the same menu. On Motorola phone the app is required because that dialer combination doesn't work.

My data is messed up.

I flashed leedroid sprint version and restored my stock backup. Now I barely get any data when I'm supposed to have lte. My carrier is ntelos.

ok again *#*#4636#*#
* choose phone info, scroll down choose the dropdown option its the little arrow on the right hand side only one to choose, you get a menu choose the option that is correct for your sim provider
for example choose:
CDMA/EvDo/GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto
that should choose the best option for your phone
You can try any of the options as they change "live"

Yep. Tried different stuff and still get 3g or 1x on the same area I get 4g before.
Have you had data on that phone before? The nTelos network is not that impressive, especially for LTE. (Fortunately, that will be changing over the next year or two, as Shentel has bought nTelos, and the network will DEFINITELY improve!)

I've had lte on my home and workplace before. Any other far place would just suck big time. I'm pretty much going crazy as there are no resources for nTelos htc one m9. And I'm slowly losing my patience waiting for the latest software update.

4g/Lte no connection after flashing RR

Hello,
since I updated my OnePlus 3 to the newest Resurrection Remix I have problems with LTE/4g. If i activate Mobile Data, i only get EDGE with a low bandwidth. I called my Mobile Provider and they said, that in my area LTE is working perfect. I eject the SIM Card and placed it into another smartphone and after two sec. i get LTE/4g with a high bandwith. A factory reset, returning to Stock Rom, deleting the APNs didnt work either. Is there any soultion fo this issue?
Maybe I crashed my modem ? Is it possible to flash everything back to Stock ?
Thanks
type *#*#4636#*#* in your phone dialer, phone info, scroll down and set prefered network type to LTE only. you will be unable to call while in this mode so do not have it turned on. just test it if your 4g works

well then your phone is broken or your service provider is messing up. but you already called them and they said that it was all ok on their side. so that means there is certainly something wrong with your phone
