Well im very use to using netarchy's kernels.
and having sense and all that junk for Custom sense and nonsense Roms.
I need to know if i can use Regular kernels?
like HTC stock kernels,Netarchy's 4.2.1 or 4.1.9 CFS?
am i able to use collins tweak?
what can i do?
because i need to save alot of battery life.
im not really fond of cyanogen.
i have no idea why,but i just switched to Evervolv Gingerbread Rom,
and the battery life is pretty poor.
can anyone help me at all with this?
what kernels would really help me?
and Flash Aosp kernels are the same as flashing other kernels, right?
haha.
i was told Cyanogenmod kernels are very good they give you very good battery life.
what Kernels should i run on my phone?
please suggestions and some help please.
Netarchy's kernels are for Sense tons so they won't work. I used to think aosp time had poor battery life as well, but when you switch from a Sense Rom to an aosp Rom you MUST wipe battery stats.
Try charging the phone to 100%, then unplug it, turn the phone off, and plug the charger back on (phone still off at this point. Let it charge for another 20 minutes or so. Unplug the charger, then plug it back in again. Your charging light will stay orange for about 45 seconds to a minute, then it will turn green again. Unplug the charger, then plug it back in again. Repeat this process about 10-15 times (leaving the phone powered off the entire time). When you're finish, boot into recovery and wipe battery stats.
This is a time consuming process but it works.

netarchy-toastmod 4.3 cfs-nonhavs-noUV-sbc is what i want to use on my phone, because i heard it was good for my siedeo 3500 batt.
my question is is this a stable version now?
do i still have to downgrade nv and pri?
I am using stock htc 15 now and know its not charging my batt all the way
I have tried a lot of kernels already just not this one and I know I could buy and external charger or use a backup batt. but if this kernel works that would be great, I know I don't want HAVS or colin batt tweak.
So what do you guys think is this a good kerenl? is it the best version without havs. and will it charge my siedo 3500mah batt.
Thank You
btw im using mikfroyo 4.5
I don't think 4.3 was ever a "stable release," the stable is 4.3.1. I have run that kernel with no issues, but I mostly use 4.3.2 CFS or Ziggy's 012111. You're going to get mixed answers on sbc though. I have excellent results from following these instructions to get my battery to last longer without using SBC:
1. Charge till at 100% and the light turns green.
2. Unplug until the light comes off and turn off the phone.
3. Plug the cable in until the light comes on and turns green.
4. Unplug until the light goes off
5. Repeat 4 and 5 a total of 10x
If you do that, your battery will stay at 100% longer. Mine took about 15min to loose 1% the first time I did it.
You might also want to boot into recovery after the first time you do this and wipe battery stats, then let the battery run allllll the way down. After doing this, even if you don't do the above every time, it may drop initially once off the charger to 95% or so, but it should last MUCH longer on idle. But if you want it to last longer at 100%, you have to follow the above steps.
I have gotten about the same results with most Kernels using this method. Net's are certainly good, however, no one can tell you what kernel is best for you as every phone is different. I would dl a few different versions of Net's (4.3.2, 4.3.1, 4.3, etc) in whatever config you want (no havs) and start with the newest one. If that doesn't work, go one version older and stop once you find one that provides performance you're happy with.
Sorry if any of this doesn't make sense. I'm tired and I have been proof reading crap all day so I'm not about to read this again.
thank you for the fast response if i would've just read better i would have relalized that 4.3 wasn't stable it even said it on the link lol. Anyway I installed 4.3.1 sbc-cfs nohavs and am now charging up i got 31 hours on htc15 with my 3500mah and now lets see what this kernel lets me get.
anyway will post back my results
system is mikfroyo 4.5
kernel sbc-4.3.1 cfs nohavs
sideo 3500mah batt
setcpu with 1113mhz max and 128 min
screen off profile only(set at 245mhz max/min)
380mb of system space and 7.30 sd card space
monitoring batt with battery monitor widget with alarm set for fully charged.
newest radios and nv/pri(do i downgrade to 1.77pri/nv with this kernel?)
any way charging now will post results when battery is almost dead with screen shots and prolly a youtube video as well.
4.3.1 are considered stable releases that i am aware of
Where can I find the net sbc kernwels
go here and click on the sbc thread link at the very first post and choose the one you want it starts with beta and more towards the bottom are the stable ones.

@op, i'm curious, why the need to overclock? What are you using that actually benefits from this?
I'm actually underclocking @ 921Mhz to achieve a bit more batt lift (same battery).
well its not a high overclock and just to increase speed of loads and surfing a bit, I bought the extended battery so I can actually use it.
I have done a bunch of reading since my first flash to Cyanogen's 6.1 but not finding really satisfactory answers.
With the old rooted stock deodexed...I was getting about 14-15hrs of moderate-high use. So basically I pulled the cord at around 7am and plugged back in around 6pm with about 40%.
Was fine.
Flashed 6.1 last night and now I am two hours off charge and sitting at 58%!! I have all syncs turned off and I have no wifi/gps/4g running. The ONLY widget at the moment is weather and it only updates when I hit refresh.
My search has shown something called battery calibration...but that doesn't make sense to me. I have done the long charge, power off charge, power on charge etc... But since I have a wall battery charger I have just moved away from that and occasionally swap out my batteries for a full charge in that thing.
Does that 6.1 REALLY need another voodoo approach to battery life? Also the threads I have found seem to be for the nexus one or the HTC Magic(?).
Anyone else suffering HORRIBLE battery life after flashing 6.1?
Anyone got a link to a fix for the EVO and maybe something that I can get through the day with (do not have my charger at work)?
When I flashed CM7 to my wife's phone the battery was horrible (Less than 2 hours). I recalibrated the battery and the next charge lasted 2 days. Give this a try:
Battery recalibration
If you're experiencing higher than normal battery drain, try the following:
Charge the device to full battery; let it keep charging until the battery says it is fully charged. Do not just wait until the light is green, it isn't always fully charged, causing a lot of inaccuracies. (You can check by going to: Settings -> About device -> Status -> Battery Level = Full.)
Boot to recovery mode and delete the battery stats
NOTE: To have the most accurate of battery stats, reboot the device immediately after wiping the battery stats and wait for CyanogenMod to boot completely to the desktop. Once your entire boot is done and you have full access to the device, go ahead and pull the charger and continue with this troubleshooter.
Do not charge the device until after draining the battery completely, resulting in it automatically shutting off.
Recharge the device completely and then use as you normally would.
Also, CM6.1 or CM7 should get decent battery life. If it still doesn't try flashing a different kernal. I found that savaged zen bfs sbc kernal extended my life considerably.

Yea Cm6 is dated. But that shouldn't matter.. I actually had fantactic battery when I was on cm6, much better than what I get on cm7.
First, check spare parts for wakelocks and make sure you don't have any. After that, follow Fazulkas advice to reset battery stats, follow it correctly tho. I never thought wiping stats would make a difference, but it surely does.
Ok, I'll try that process when I get home tonight. (Guess I can survive w/o a phone for a few hours?!?! :^O) Haven't set up more than just the google account on this ROM as I wanted to test it first. So maybe tomorrow it will win me over.
DATED?!?! LOL! It was only just a final release a few months back...;^) It has all the important stuff working where as 7 doesn't and it is still a RC.
:^P
(Have you seen my sig? Old dogs only try the proven tricks thank you very much. :^)
CM6 is not dated. In fact CM 6.1.3 is the most current stable-release version of CM available!

Its not the ROM. Anytime you flash a ROM, you need to calibrate your battery. By calibrate it isn't the plug in over and over method.
You charge to 100%, discharge it fully. Charge back to 100% then wipe battery stats in recovery. Then use your phone.

There is your problem. Anytime you flash a new rom, you need to give it at least a day or two to fully calibrate everything in the rom.

HUH...this is my fourth ROM flash, first one away from stock rooted and I have never had this issue. Maybe the stock ROMs do not have this issue?
Hi, now that i have your attention!
I have cm7.2 democracy on my gio
I barely use it for wifi or gaming now because the battery is S**t.
I had 2.3.6 GB before and battery could take out 2 days on games and music. Now suddenly after switching to cm7.2 i need to charge it twice a day without using any app or game. just some texting like 10, 12.
I use ondemand governor and max freq is 806 min is 245
Also a couple of times i have seen that when my battery is at 30% and charge it then within 5-10 minutes it showed 100% charged. Unplug the charger.
Any suggestions or something on this? I really need an answer guys. Thanks
I can tell you that you can't charge your battery within 10 minutes.
Charge it at least 2 hours, 2.5.

Yeah! I will. Even if it says fully charged. IDK whats the problem with it. It drains so quickly.
Even if i charge it 2 hours even then i have to charge it twice a day.
I have the same problems. Some help?

No one has found a solution 'till now?I'll try to use ODIN and go back to stock version, maybe that will help. Has anyone had those battery problems before using a custom ROM?with stock my battery used to last 2 days with games and music etc, now I can only use it for 5 hours without any games or music or internet. It also charges from 0 to 100% in 30 minutes , maybe less. I'm still hoping someone found a solution for this problem because it is useless to have a phone without any battery.
Try to get a new battery because huge draining problem is not caused by roms it caused by battery damage.my battery runs on stock rom over the 10days without using anything but on cm9/10 roms it drains faster but still runs more than 3days for me.
so no one got it?
Thank God I am not the only one here
But guys, I have been using stock GB for an year. Its been only a week on cm7.2 democracy and nightly.
Both have same battery issues and non of this happened in stock
It's not the battery issue.its something else. I'm sure
Have you tried going back to stock version using ODIN?I think that is the ultimate solution before sending my phone to service(I still have warranty).

Try to "recalibrate" your battery; in cwm theres an option "wipe battery stats". some say its nonsense, some say it really helps; i would give it a try.
No idea if theres an option with stock roms, though.....
I'm calibrating now...Will post the result in a while. (Tomorrow i guess)
I still couldn't solve this..I flashed the stock firmware with ODIN and still no luck, I'm starting to think it is a hardware problem, maybe I will send the phone to service now that I have the stock firmware back. Has anyone found any solution?
Hey, i found this article
For the users who like to try out new ROMs very often or by default Android receives updates to Android very often. These updates re constantly pushed to the users to provide the better experience to the users. For those who flash their mobile handset with custom ROM they are advised to charge their handset to 100 % battery life and then proceed with the upgrade processor. That is advised because if you have 50 % of battery life and proceed with firmware update, the new custom ROM will consider 50 % battery life as the full battery stats and this will provide half the battery life then earlier as specified by your phone manufacturer. In those cases you need to go with the battery calibration to gain 100 % battery backup as specified by your provider. There is complete procedure on how you will calibrate your phone battery is mentioned by us and if you would like to make the process very much easier then you can make use of a specially designed application which calibrates your battery. (Battery Calibration)
Okay so i flashed a new custom rom with 100% battery but no luck on battery issue. Its still draining the same.
then i calibrated my battery with this app with my battery at 100% which of course is 50% as said by this article, the app said "Your battery has been calibrated by 6%". Don't know what that means.
ANY HELP? DEVELOPERS PLEASE GUYS!
Try to calibrate it too.It may fix it.

I have the same issue, I am using CM10.1 RC0 by Olddroid but I think my problem is the charger. For the last month I charged my Gio using the usb connection from PC. Now, if I use the charger the battery drains faster than charging with the usb connection method. I am gonna buy a 1500 mAh battery and hope to solve this problem.
My battery discharges pretty quickly and I just don't know what to do anymore...
It usually goes down pretty fast when I'm connected to wifi. I think the main culprit might be Kernel (Android OS). Please take a look at some screenshots I took while using the Gsam battery monitor app and Better Battery Stats app and correct me if I'm wrong.
I have stock ROM, stock Kernel and my Radio version is: 5.1204.167.31
What do you think I should do? Change the Kernel, Radio or maybe both?
And if so, what would version would you suggest for my stock ROM?
Or should I just replace the battery and hope that fixes the issue...
Wifi will definately drain it quicker, usually keep mine turned off until I use it. Depending on how old the phone is definately affects battery life, mine is now just over 2 years old and I find that although it charges to 100%, it will drop to 91% in the first 5 minutes of using it. HTC has a self test in the dialer enter *#*#3424#*#* then follow through to the battery test. I think phone needs to be in airplane mode and has to be fully charged, then leave it on for an extra hour or two. Test takes an hour and from memory if battery is above 70% it passes.

Mine does the same. It drops to 91% fairly quickly after charging. I did the HTC battery test about a month ago and it showed 81% battery left after the test (it said that if it's below 70% the battery might be faulty).
Since I made this thread, I managed to change the stock kernel and now I'm using Alex's kernel. The battery usage is much better but still the Android OS or kernel drains much of the battery.
Do you think changing the battery completely I might have better results?

Before Alex's kernel, I tried XM's latest kernel because I read on OP's thread that it works with stock ROM too, but I never managed to boot my phone after flashing it. (and I did everything right I think: cleared fastboot cache, fastboot flashed the boot.img then flashed the zip in recovery)
I am all for trying lyapota's kernel but the download links have been removed in the official thread I think. Can you provide me with a link for downloading please?

Only one option left, to try and remove some bloatware stock apps and see if that changes anything.
