Premium navigation refuses to go landscape - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i have problem that the premium navigation in car panel wont go landscape, the auto-rotate option is already enabled and everything will go landscape as i rotate the phone EXCEPT Premium Navigation

Not everything will go landscape (or portray). Most games actually stay landscape. An app can choose whether it listens to the user setting or enforces a certain orientation. This obviously because some apps are not suitable to run in some orientation. The only thing you can do it notify the developer of that you like to have this app or certain parts to be able to be in landscape mode.

Unfortunately premium navigation doesn't go landscape. Bit of an oversight if you ask me. Every other navigation app seems to.

has anyone found the solution?

Screen rotation question

Did a search on this but didn't find the answer I was looking for.
Is there a way to set my evo so that my homescreens are always in portrait mode but when I am on a web page or typing in a forum like this, landscape is available?
I just don't like landscape mode on my homescreens but do like it when typing. Is there an app that will allow the user to set landscape preference for each app?
EDIT** - Found an app in the market that lets you set auto rotation on the notification bar which isn't exactly what I was looking for but will do if nothing else is available. Don't want a homescreens toggle switch.
Its called Auto-rotate Status Bar and its free.

Landscape orientation

Hi all, I have a newbie question about the default landscape orientation. Can it be set to 90 instead of 270 degrees so the buttons are on the left side when in landscape applications?

Not sure how you could set this with HTC Sense.
This is an option you can select on Cyanogen Mod though.

Just to make clear - I don't want landscape in Sense. I'm asking about landscape orientation in other applications e.g. the default video player or some games that are landscape by default.
from a sense rom prospective i dont think its possible.
however there might be an app in the market .

Dual docks in twa_priv's CM10 w/ STG7 enhancements ROM

I apologize if this question is old hat. I really did try searching the forums for it in advance. Perhaps I was formulating the search in such poorly. I'm relatively unfamiliar with Android terminology.
Anyway, so I have a KF running the ROM mentioned in the title, the CM10 w/ STG7 improvements by twa_priv. Latest iteration. My first Android ROM for the KF, though, was "Jandycane." I switched off of it because A. it couldn't run Chrome and B. my device had absolutely abysmal battery life while using it. But Jandycane's Trebuchet launcher had an option that allowed you to have an app dock on both sides of the home screen simultaneously. It also adjusted far better to switching between portrait & landscape.
Does anyone know the "mode" I'm talking about? Or if there's some way to enable it on other ROMs besides JC? Is there a way to independently install a version of Trebuchet within this mod that allows for dual docks? I'd really like to stick with the ROM I'm on except for this one feature.
I don't know if there is a way to have two app docks. I know you can't have the phone app dock (bottom center) and tablet app dock (upper right) together obviously. If you want easy access to your app dock, though, I would recommend using one of the "gestures" that you can use. It is located in the settings under Launcher, and is the last row. I don't have the button for the app dock enabled because I use the swipe down gesture to control opening up my apps.
As far as switching between portrait and landscape, if you have Auto-rotate screen enabled, it should work pretty well. It does lag a little bit, but I don't think there's anyway to get around that. You might try the auto rotation app featured at this website: http://www.androidtablets.net/forum/nexus-7/44113-how-get-auto-rotation-nexus-7-home-screen-app.html but I don't know how well it works, so no guarantees.
oh, and I also am running twa_priv's ROM...

Thanks for the reply. I'm afraid it's not about access; it's just about having the "dual docks" option Jandycane has, combined with the stability and flexibility of twa_priv's build.

Lag hasn't been the problem at all. What I was trying to get at is, the way icons rotate with the "dual docks" option makes a lot of sense. The top and bottom in portrait become the left and right in landscape, while the center rows & columns remain in the same positions they would have been otherwise. Things which are situated properly in landscape also look good in portrait, and vice versa. Without dual docks, rotating the icons basically behaves the same way the iPad does; if you set it up in portrait, landscape will look terrible. And vice versa.

Had the phone for a few days now. Best phone I've ever had.
I can't get the note to go into LandScape mode. I've tried changing it in the drop down Menu and settings. It won't work in any app. Internet, opera, YouTube, text nothing. Any ideas?
Thanks

Sorry so strange
racing games and birds go landscape.
still cant get the keyboard, notes, sms, internet..nothing
Sounds like it could be an accelerometer fault there are apps on the market that will test all your phones sensors or in settings I think theres a accelerometer config or failing that download a free game called teeter and check your accelerometer is working correctly as this im sure is how the phone knows which direction its being held at.. most games angry birds etc just force the screen into landscape which is bypassing the normal tilt orientation controlled by the accelerometer.
You already know the homescreen doesnt do landscape mode I assume

probably the sensor problem, try turn it on and use some app to test the sensor
phone will Tilt steer in NFS most wanted. But wont tilt zoom in gallery
Sent from my SGH-I317M using xda premium
Very strange I would definately run more tests on the accelerometer it could be lazy like not working with full 360 degree motion so small tilts are working but not 90 degree + . If all tests show the sensor is working fine it has to be a software issue maybe its a setting somewhere or maybe a hard reset or restore to factory defaults would fix it.
These are things I would try if none of the above work I would return it and get a replacement.

Mine homescreen doesn't rotate by default, but everything else does as it should.
I just assumed Samsung hadn't added landscape mode to the homescreens in TouchWiz.
You can force anything you want to roate using this app though, including TW:
Ultimate Rotation Control
I use it because I have the Samsung flip-case, so this means I can use reverse-landscape mode in landscape apps and keep the case out the way.

This app is amazing. So simple, but totally effective. Will definitely buy the license for it.

Yeah, it's definitely one of my most used apps!
press *#0*# to enter test mode.
Just came across this thread and heard you were talking about testing the sensor etc.
if you type *#0*# in the dialer you can select Sensor to see Accelerometer sensor, Proxmity sensor, Barometer sensor, Gyroscope sensor, Magnetic sensor and the Lights sensor.
Hope it helps anyone - There also alot of other test functions in there

You have to play about with the settings but its worth the effort.
I have the Problem too with my Homescreen.
Apps and Games rotate but the Homescreen are only in Portrait Modus.

It's not really a "problem" as such... as I said, Samsung made the decision not to enable landscape view in TouchWiz.
Use the app I mentioned above if you really want your homescreens to rotate :good:

Force Lockscreen in Landscape

Hi Guys,
I've been trying to figure out how to force the rotation of lockscreen into landscape.
I have tried all rotation control apps, paid and not. However, I can't find what I was looking for.
Ultimate Rotation Control provides near what I was looking for. It can force the lockscreen rotation to any orientation I wanted,
however, once I set the rotation of lockscreen to force landscape always, everytime I unlock my tablet, the home screen which is
locked to Portait was displayed as Landscape for about 2 seconds.
I was thinking that if, it is not only an app. If, it was edited thru the internal system applications, it will provide the smoothness
that I was looking for.
I already tried to edit the framework-res, I still can't find the XML where the lockscreen can be forced to landscape.
Several nights browsing Google hoping that some articles are already there to teach how to edit the lockscreen but I can't see any.
Due to my work overseas, I was not able to focus on this. But now I'm somehow pissed and I wanted my tablet to be the
way I want it, to look the way how I wanted.
Can someone show me the right path to where I should start? I don't mind if it would mean that I should study Android as I am a
software engineer, but just a beginner in java.
Thanks in advance.

Kemaro
I'm using Rotation Control to force landscape. So far so good. Haven't noticed any problems and all apps like Instagram are forced to landscape without any issues.

Why is your lockscreen displaying in portrait anyway it's a landscape device and should display as landscape natively? :what:

The lockscreen of Tab S is always on auto rotate. It is not natively in landscape.
I wanted it to force landscape always but only the lockscreen. As for the home screen, it should be auto rotate.

I'm sorry but that's not what happens on my SM-T805 using Phoenixrom.
The Lockscreen and Homscreen stays natively in landscape and doesn't rotate at all.
I can use a rotation app to auto rotate the home screen, but the lockscreen stays landscape no matter what.
I don't remember it being any different on total stock.

You have the 8.4 version? That is a portrait device. I just assumed it was the 10.1 because you said landscape.
